In this article, we investigate the effects of oxygen partial pressure in the deposition chamber on the optical properties of zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films; in particular, we examine the variation of the refractive index with oxygen flux.ZnO thin films were deposited by radio-frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering and studied by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE). We have found a preferential c-axis growth of ZnO films, with slightly variable deposition rates from 2.6 to 3.8 Å/s. Conversely, the refractive index exhibits, from ultraviolet (UV) to near infrared (IR), a considerable and almost linear variation when the oxygen flux value in the deposition chamber varies from 0 to 10 sccm.  相似文献

TiO2-doped zinc oxide thin films were deposited on glass substrates by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering with TiO2-doped ZnO targets in an argon atmosphere. The structural properties of TiO2-doped ZnO films doped with different TiO2 contents were investigated. The experimental results show that polycrystalline TiO2-doped ZnO films had the (0 0 2) preferred orientation. The deposition parameters such as the working pressure and substrate temperature of TiO2-doped ZnO films were also investigated. The crystalline structure of the TiO2-doped ZnO films gradually improved as the working pressure was lowered and the substrate temperature was raised. The lowest electrical resistivity for the TiO2-doped ZnO films was obtained when the Ti addition was 1.34 wt%; its value was 2.50 × 10−3 Ω cm, smaller than that found in previous studies. The transmittance of the TiO2-doped ZnO films in the visible wavelength range was more than 80%. The optical energy gap was related to the carrier concentration, and was in the range of 3.30-3.48 eV.  相似文献

Cobalt nanoparticles coated with zinc oxide can form composite spheres with core-shell structure. This coating process was based on the use of silane coupling with agent 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (HS-(CH2)3Si(OCH3)3, MPTS) as a primer to render the cobalt surface vitreophilic, thus it renders cobalt surface compatible with ZnO. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to gain insight into the way in which the MPTS is bound to the surface of the cobalt nanoparticles. The morphological structure, chemical composition, optical properties and magnetic properties of the product were investigated by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), photoluminescence (PL) spectroscope and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). It was found that the Co/ZnO core-shell structure nanocomposites exhibited both of favorable magnetism and photoluminescence properties. Results of the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) indicated that the thermal stability of cobalt/zinc oxide was better than that of pure cobalt nanoparticles.  相似文献

The cobalt oxide (CoO and Co3O4) thin films were successfully prepared using a spin-coating technique by a chemical solution method with CH3OCH2CH2OH and Co(NO3)2·6H2O as starting materials. The grayish cobalt oxide films had uniform crystalline grains with less than 50 nm in diameter. The phase structure is able to tailor by controlling the annealing atmosphere and temperature, in which Co3O4 thin film was obtained by annealing in air at 300-600, and N2 at 300, and transferred to CoO thin film by raising annealing temperature in N2. The fitted X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectra of the Co2p electrons are distinguishable from different valence states of cobalt oxide especially for their satellite structure. The valence control of cobalt oxide thin films by annealing atmosphere contributes to the tailored optical absorption property.  相似文献

Doped zinc oxide thin films are grown on glass substrate at room temperature under oxygen atmosphere, using pulsed laser deposition (PLD). O2 pressure below 1 Pa leads to conductive films. A careful characterization of the film stoichiometry and microstructure using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) concludes on a decrease in crystallinity with Al and Ga additions (≤3%). The progressive loss of the (0 0 2) orientation is associated with a variation of the c parameter value as a function of the film thickness and substrate nature. ZnO:Al and ZnO:Ga thin films show a high optical transmittance (>80%) with an increase in band gap from 3.27 eV (pure ZnO) to 3.88 eV and 3.61 eV for Al and Ga doping, respectively. Optical carrier concentration, optical mobility and optical resistivity are deduced from simulation of the optical data.  相似文献

Transparent and conducting zirconium-doped zinc oxide films with high transparency and relatively low resistivity have been successfully prepared by RF magnetron sputtering at room temperature. The deposition pressure was varied from 0.6 to 2.5 Pa. A transformation from a relatively compact structure to individual grains was observed with the increase of deposition pressure. As the deposition pressure increases, the resistivity increases sharply due to both, the decrease of hall mobility and carrier concentration. The lowest resistivity achieved was 2.07 × 10−3 Ω cm at a deposition pressure of 0.6 Pa with a hall mobility of 16 cm2 V−1 s−1 and a carrier concentration of 1.95 × 1020 cm−3. The films are polycrystalline with a hexagonal structure and a preferred orientation along the c-axis. All the films present a high transmittance of above 90% in the visible range. The optical band gap decreases from 3.35 to 3.20 eV as the deposition pressure increases from 0.6 to 2.5 Pa.  相似文献

ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) have been successfully synthesized by the simple solution method at low temperature. The effects of annealing temperature on the structure and optical properties of ZnO NPs were investigated in detail by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) measurements. As the annealing temperature was increased above 180 °C the particles morphology evolved from spherical to hexagonal shape, indicating that the average particle size increased from 11 nm to 87 nm. The UV-vis and PL spectra showed a red-shift from 3.62 to 3.33 eV when the annealing temperature was increased.  相似文献

The zinc oxide films were prepared by the sol-gel method on the ordinary glass substrates. The activity of slip systems were evaluated by X-ray diffraction line broadening analysis using convolution multiple whole profile (CMWP) fitting procedures. It was found that in all temperatures the 〈a〉 type dislocations is dominating and its fraction increases with the rise of annealing temperature in the range of 350-600 °C. The investigation on the optical properties of films showed that the optical band gap energy increases linearly with the annealing temperature and crystallite size but decreases with the lattice strain.  相似文献

This work presented a hybrid architecture of graphene oxide (GO)/ZnO nanorods (ZNs) with ZNs attached parallel onto GO sheets. ZNs were synthesized by refluxing zinc acetate dehydrate in methanol solution under basic conditions followed by surface modification of 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (ATS), and then the preformed ZNs were attached onto GO sheets by reaction of the amino groups on the outer wall of ZNs with the carboxyl groups on the GO surface. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) image of the as-prepared hybrid reveals the morphology of the architecture of GO/ZNs hybrid. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) and fluorescence spectroscopy were also performed to characterize the structure and properties of the GO/ZNs hybrid. It was shown that ZNs maintained their initial morphology and crystallinity in the hybrid and the luminescence quenching of yellow-green emission of ZNs confirmed the electron transfer from excited ZnO to GO sheets.  相似文献

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods were synthesized at room temperature on potassium permanganate activated silicon and glass substrate by simple chemical method using zinc acetate as precursor. To modify the surface energy of the as prepared ZnO thin films the samples were coated with amorphous graphene (a-G) synthesized by un-zipping of chemically synthesized amorphous carbon nanotubes (a-CNTs). All the pure and coated samples were characterized by x-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscope, Raman spectroscopy, and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy. The roughness analysis of the as prepared samples was done by atomic force microscopic analysis. The detail optical properties of all the samples were studied with the help of a UV-Visible spectrophotometer. The surface energy of the as prepared pure and coated samples was calculated by measuring the contact angle of two different liquids. It is seen that the water repellence of ZnO nanorods got increased after they are being coated with a-Gs. Also even after UV irradiation the contact angle remain same unlike the case for the uncoated sample where the contact angle gets decreased significantly after UV irradiation. Existing Cassie-Wenzel model has been employed along with the Owen's approach to determine the different components of surface energy.  相似文献

The well-known quaternary Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) chalcogenide thin films are playing an important role in modern technology. The CZTS nanocrystal were successfully prepared by solution method using water, ethylene glycol and ethylenediamine as different solvent. The pure phase material was used for thin film coating by thermal evaporation method. The prepared CZTS thin films were characterized by XRD, Raman spectroscopy, FESEM, XPS and FT-IR spectroscopy. The XRD and Raman spectroscopy analysis revealed the formation of polycrystalline CZTS thin film with tetragonal crystal structure after annealing at 450 °C. The oxidation state of the annealed film was studied by XPS. A direct band gap about 1.36 eV was estimated for the film from FT-IR studies, which is nearly close to the optimum value of band gap energy of CZTS materials for best solar cell efficiency. The CZTS annealed thin films are more suitable for using as a p-type absorber layer in a low-cost solar cell.  相似文献

In this paper, the effect of annealing temperature on optical constants was studied. The ZnO films were deposited on microscopic glass substrates using the sol-gel method for various annealing temperatures. The deposited zinc oxide (ZnO) films were characterized by an X-ray diffractometer (XRD), a spectrophotometer and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The transmittance spectra recorded through the spectrophotometer exhibits 90% transmittance. The XRD spectra showed polycrystalline nature of ZnO film. Optical constants were determined through transmittance spectra using an envelope method. It was found that there was a significant effect of annealing temperature on the refractive index and extinction coefficient of deposited ZnO films. In this experiment, the optimum refractive index value of 1.97 was obtained at 350 °C annealing temperature at visible (vis) wavelength. The optical energy gap was found to be of ∼3.2 eV for all the samples. The top view of SEM showed the ZnO grain growth on the glass substrates.  相似文献

Zinc oxide thin films were grown on a glass substrate by a sol-gel process using a spin-coating technique. The obtained thin films were annealed between 350?°C and 550?°C in 50?°C steps and were then characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray fluorescence techniques. The samples were stimulated by 59.5?keV gamma rays emitted from an Americium-241 annular radioisotope source. K X-rays emitted by samples were counted using an ultra-low energy germanium detector with a resolution of 150?eV at 5.96?keV. It was found that there was generally a decrease in both the / X-ray intensity ratios and the K X-ray fluorescence cross sections for zinc oxide between 350?°C and 500?°C, but not at 550?°C. In addition, the X-ray diffraction patterns of the films showed that the transition phase from an amorphous to a polycrystalline hexagonal wurtzite structure was complete at an annealing temperature of 500?°C. The results show that variations in these parameters can be explained by the reorganization of atoms and the charge transfer process due to the effect of the annealing temperature on the elements forming the compounds.  相似文献

Behavior of oxygen in sputtering deposited ZnO films through thermal annealing and its effect on sheet resistance of the films were investigated. The crystallinities of the ZnO film were improved by post-deposition annealing in vacuum. However, the sheet resistance of ZnO film was dramatically decreased after post-deposition annealing in vacuum at more than 300 °C, while O2 desorbed from the film. The oxygen vacancies which acted as donors were formed by the thermal annealing in vacuum. The sheet resistance of the films was recovered by annealing in oxygen ambient. In this paper, 18O2 gas as an oxygen isotope was used as the annealing ambient in order to distinguish from 16O, which was constituent atom of the ZnO films. SIMS analysis revealed that 18O diffused into the ZnO film from the top surface by 18O2 annealing. Therefore oxygen vacancies formed by the post-deposition annealing in vacuum could be compensated by the annealing in oxygen ambient.  相似文献

Novel covalently surface-modified zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles (NP) (ZHIE) were successfully prepared, which have organic chains composed of hydrophilic amide and urethane linkages, and terminal amino groups on the surfaces, using zinc acetate monohydrate. FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray analysis and TEM observation suggested that the resultant ZHIE NPs have the mean sizes of about 10 nm in diameters, the organic chains linking the amino groups in the terminals and wurtzite crystal structure. UV-vis absorption spectrum of the ZHIE NPs in methanol showed maximum absorption band at 348 nm, supporting the TEM observations. Photoluminescent spectrum measurements depicted that the ZHIE NPs show broad visible emission band on the basis of trapped-electron emission. Cytotoxicity and phagocytosis assays suggested that the ZHIE NPs are noncytotoxic, and the ZHIE-labeled zymosan particles derived by conjugation of the ZHIE NPs with zymosan are internalized into the cells and generate fluorescence based on the ZHIE NPs.  相似文献

Zinc oxide nanorods with germanium doping were prepared by ion implantation and annealing treatment method, the microstructural and optical properties of which were studied by means of the X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence, and transmission electron microscopy measurements. The pristine sample exhibited a remarkable ultraviolet emission owing to the band edge emission from the zinc oxide matrix, indicated a good crystalline quality. Three emission peaks appeared after germanium ions were doped into zinc oxide nanorods. The 513?nm photoluminescence peak was ascribed to the transition between the vacancy defect in zinc oxide matrix. Photoluminescence peaks located at 548 and 778?nm were ascribed to germanium ions luminescence center in zinc germanate grain and germanium monoxide luminescence center. The light emission tuning was obtained by germanium doping and annealing treatment, which may help the development of the practical optoelectronic devices based on zinc oxide nanomaterials.  相似文献
