Thermal conductivity κ xx(T) under a field is investigated in d x2 - y2-wave superconductors and isotropic s-wave superconductors by the linear response theory, using a microscopic wave function of the vortex lattice states. To study the origin of the different field dependence of κxx(T) between higher and lower temperature regions, we analyze the spatially-resolved thermal conductivity around a vortex at each temperature, which is related to the spectrum of the local density of states. We also discuss the electric conductivity in the same formulation for a comparison. Received 8 December 2001 and Received in final form 20 March 2002 Published online 6 June 2002  相似文献

The influence of antiferromagnetic order on the mixed state of a superconductor may result in creation of spin-flop domains along vortices. This may happen when an external magnetic field is strong enough to flip over magnetic moments in the vortex core from their ground state configuration. The formation of domain structure causes modification of the surface energy barrier, and creation of the new state in which magnetic flux density is independent of the applied field. The modified surface energy barrier has been calculated for parameters of the antiferromagnetic superconductor DyMo6S8. The prediction of two-step flux penetration process has been verified by precise magnetization measurements performed on the single crystal of DyMo6S8 at milikelvin temperatures. A characteristic plateau on the virgin curve B(H 0) has been found and attributed to the modified surface energy barrier. The end of the plateau determines the critical field, which we call the second critical field for flux penetration. Three-dimensional motion of a slender vortex tube, embedded in an inviscid incompressible fluid, is investigated under the localized induction approximation for the Euler equations. Using the method of matched asymptotic expansions in a small parameter ε, the ratio of core radius to curvature radius, the velocity of a vortex filament is derived to O3), whereby the influence of elliptical deformation of the core due to the self-induced strain is taken into account. It is found that there is an integrable line in the core whose evolution obeys a summation of the first and third terms of the localized induction hierarchy. Artificial molecules, namely laterally coupled quantum dots with a three-dimensional spherical confinement potential well of radius R and depth V 0, were studied by the unrestricted Hartree-Fock-Roothaan (UHFR) method. By varying the distance d between the centers of the two coupled quantum dots, the transition from the strong coupling situation to the weak one is realized. Hund's rule, suitable for a single quantum dot is destroyed in certain conditions in the artificial molecule. For example, in the few-electron system of the strongly coupled quantum-dot molecule, a transformation of spin configuration has been found. We investigate minimal energy solutions with vortices for an interacting Bose-Einstein condensate in a rotating trap. The atoms are strongly confined along the axis of rotation z, leading to an effective 2D situation in the x-y plane. We first use a simple numerical algorithm converging to local minima of energy. Inspired by the numerical results we present a variational ansatz in the regime where the interaction energy per particle is stronger than the quantum of vibration in the harmonic trap in the x-y plane, the so-called Thomas-Fermi regime. This ansatz allows an easy calculation of the energy of the vortices as function of the rotation frequency of the trap; it gives a physical understanding of the stabilisation of vortices by rotation of the trap and of the spatial arrangement of vortex cores. We also present analytical results concerning the possibility of detecting vortices by a time-of-flight measurement or by interference effects. In the final section we give numerical results for a 3D configuration. Received 16 December 1998 and Received in final form 18 March 1999  相似文献

Under the assumption that isospin is a good quantum number, symmetry is expected for the transitions from the ground states of T = 1, T z = ±1 nuclei to the common excited states of the T z = 0 nucleus situated between the two nuclei. The symmetry can be studied by comparing the strengths of Gamow-Teller (GT) transitions obtained from a (p, n)-type charge-exchange reaction on a target nucleus with T z = 1 with those from the β-decay of the T z = - 1 nucleus. The A = 58 system is the heaviest for which such a comparison is possible. As a part of the symmetry study, we measured the GT transitions from 58Ni (T z = 1) to 58Cu (T z = 0) by using the zero-degree (3 He, t) reaction at 150 MeV/nucleon. With the achieved resolution of 50 keV, many hitherto unresolved GT states have been identified. The GT transition strengths were obtained for states up to 8 MeV excitation, i.e., near to the Q window limitation ( Q EC = 9.37 MeV) of the β-decay from 58Zn (T z = - 1) to 58Cu. The strength distribution is compared with that from shell-model calculations. Received: 24 November 2001 / Accepted: 30 January 2002  相似文献

The concentration profiles of monomers and counterions in star-branched polyelectrolyte micelles are calculated through Monte Carlo simulations, using the freely jointed chain model. We have investigated the onset of different regimes corresponding to the spherical and Manning condensation of counterions as a function of the strength of the Coulomb coupling. The Monte Carlo results are in fair agreement with the predictions of Self-Consistent-Field analytical models. We have simulated a real system of diblock copolymer micelles of (sodium-polystyrene-sulfonate)(NaPSS)-(polyethylene-propylene)(PEP) with f = 54 hydrophilic branches of N = 251 monomers at room temperature in salt-free solution. The calculated form factor compares nicely with our neutron scattering data. The magnetic properties of the cyclic compound [Fe6(bicine)6] LiClO4 . 2MeOH are reported. The cluster Fe6(bicine)6 forms an antiferromagnetically coupled ring structure of Fe III ions. The magnetic susceptibility is measured between 2 and 300 K and yields the exchange coupling of J/k B = - 27.5±0.5 K. The field dependence of the magnetic moment is studied at 3 and 6 K in magnetic fields up to 5 T. The zero-field splitting of the first excited spin states with S = 2 and 3 are determined by ESR at 94 GHz. The intra-molecular interactions of the Fe III ions are analyzed and the on-site anisotropy of the Fe III due to the ligand-configuration is determined to d /k B = - 0.633±0.008K. In recent experiments at GANIL, we studied nuclei at the one- and two-proton drip line. The production rates allowed to search for direct 2p emission in the drip line nuclei 42Cr, 45Fe, and 49Ni. No evidence for this decay mode was found in 42Cr and 49Ni, whereas the situation stays unclear for 45Fe due to the limited statistics. In the medium-mass region ( A = 50-70), the half-life was measured for all proton-rich nuclei in the range T z = 0 to T z = - 1 between Z = 27 and Z = 36. First half-lives were determined for 60Ga, 62Ge, 64As and 66Se. Finally, β-decay studies of the 0+ → 0+ decay of 62Ga have been performed at IGISOL in Jyv?skyl?. Non-analog transitions have been observed and are compared to theoretical predictions. The many-body Green's function theory developed in our previous work for treating the reorientation of the magnetization of thin ferromagnetic films is extended to include the exchange anisotropy. This leads to additional momentum dependencies which require some non-trivial changes in the formalism. The theory is developed for arbitrary spin values S and for multilayers. The effects of the exchange anisotropy and the single-ion anisotropy, which was treated in our earlier work, on the magnetic properties of thin ferromagnetic films are compared. We derive a realistic microscopic model for doped colossal magnetoresistance manganites, which includes the dynamics of charge, spin, orbital and lattice degrees of freedom on a quantum mechanical level. The model respects the SU(2) spin symmetry and the full multiplet structure of the manganese ions within the cubic lattice. Concentrating on the hole doped domain ( 0≤x≤0.5) we study the influence of the electron-lattice interaction on spin and orbital correlations by means of exact diagonalisation techniques. We find that the lattice can cause a considerable suppression of the coupling between spin and orbital degrees of freedom and show how changes in the magnetic correlations are reflected in dynamic phonon correlations. In addition, our calculation gives detailed insights into orbital correlations and demonstrates the possibility of complex orbital states. The first evidence for excited states in 95Ag is presented. 95Ag is the heaviest T z = 1/2 nucleus for which gamma-rays have been identified. The reaction 40Ca(58Ni, 1p2n)95Ag was used in the experiment, which resulted in the assignment of three gamma-rays to 95Ag. A detector system consisting of the detector arrays Euroball, Neutron Wall and Euclides was used to detect gamma-rays, neutrons and charged particles, respectively. We consider a 3D dilute Bose-Einstein condensate at thermal equilibrium in a rotating harmonic trap. The condensate wavefunction is a local minimum of the Gross-Pitaevskii energy functional and we determine it numerically with the very efficient conjugate gradient method. For single vortex configurations in a cigar-shaped harmonic trap we find that the vortex line is bent, in agreement with the numerical prediction of Garcia-Ripoll and Perez-Garcia [Phys. Rev. A 63, 041603 (2001)]. We derive a simple energy functional for the vortex line in a cigar-shaped condensate which allows to understand physically why the vortex line bends and to predict analytically the minimal rotation frequency required to stabilize the bent vortex line. This analytical prediction is in excellent agreement with the numerical results. It also allows to find in a simple way a saddle point of the energy, where the vortex line is in a stationary configuration in the rotating frame but not a local minimum of energy. Finally we investigate numerically the effect of thermal fluctuations on the vortex line for a condensate with a straight vortex: we can predict what happens in a single realization of the experiment by a Monte Carlo sampling of an atomic field quasi-distribution function of the density operator of the gas at thermal equilibrium in the Bogoliubov approximation. We study the fluctuation-induced magnetotransport of a two-dimensional superconductor in the quasiballistic regime, where ξ GL(T) ≪ ℓ (ℓ is the electron mean free path and ξ GL(T) is the Ginzburg-Landau coherence length). The magnetoconductivity is evaluated in the nonlocal fluctuation regime thereby extending the existing theory valid in the local limit. We show that the Maki-Thompson (MT) and density-of-states (DOS) contributions strongly compensate each other and their sum is negligible in comparison with the Aslamazov-Larkin (AL) term. The hierarchy of the fluctuation contributions to the magnetoconductivity in the high-field limit is also qualitatively discussed. We study the non-equilibrium time evolution of the average transverse magnetisation and end-to-end correlation functions of the random Ising quantum chain. Starting with fully magnetised states, either in the x or z direction, we compute numerically the average quantities. They show similar behaviour to the homogeneous chain, that is an algebraic decay in time toward a stationary state. During the time evolution, the spatial correlations, measured from one end to the other of the chain, are building up and finally at long time they reach a size-dependent constant depending on the distance from criticality. Analytical arguments are given which support the numerical results. Received 11 July 2002 / Received in final form 9 September 2002 Published online 29 October 2002  相似文献

The class of nonlinear evolution equations (NLEE) - gauge equivalent to the N-wave equations related to the simple Lie algebra are derived and analyzed. They are written in terms of (x, t) ∈ satisfying r = rank nonlinear constraints. The corresponding Lax pairs and the time evolution of the scattering data are found. The Zakharov-Shabat dressing method is appropriately modified to construct their soliton solutions. In the present paper, we study the magnetic properties of bilayer cuprate antiferromagnets. In order to evaluate the expressions for spin-wave dispersion, sublattice magnetization, Néel temperature and the magnetic contribution to the specific heat, the double time Green's function technique has been employed in the random phase approximation (RPA). The spin wave dispersion curve for a bilayer antiferromagnetic system is found to consist of one acoustic and one optic branch. The “optical magnon gap” has been attributed solely to the intra-bilayer exchange coupling (J ) as its magnitude does not change significantly with the inter-bilayer exchange coupling (Jz). However Jz is essential to obtain the acoustic mode contribution to the magnetization. The numerical calculations show that the Néel temperature (T N ) of the bilayer antiferromagnetic system increases with the Jz and a small change in Jz gives rise to a large change in the Néel temperature of the system. The magnetic specific heat of the system follows a T2 behaviour but in the presence of Jz it varies faster than T2. Received 13 July 2000 and Received in final form 14 May 2001  相似文献

An approach to the Ginzburg-Landau problem of superconducting polygons is developed, based on the exact fulfillment of superconducting boundary conditions along the boundary of the sample. To this end an analytical gauge transformation for the vector potential A is found which gives A n = 0 for the normal component along the boundary line of an arbitrary regular polygon. The use of the new gauge reduces the Ginzburg-Landau problem of superconducting polygons in external magnetic fields to an eigenvalue problem in a basis set of functions obeying Neumann boundary conditions. The advantages of this approach, especially for low magnetic fields, are illustrated and novel vortex patterns are obtained which can be probed experimentally. We have measured the storage instabilities of electrons in a Penning trap at low magnetic fields. These measurements are carried out as a function of the trapping voltage, for different magnetic fields. It is seen that these instabilities occur at the same positions when the trapping voltage is expressed as a percentage of the maximum voltage, given by the stability limit. The characteristic frequencies at which these instabilities occur, obey a relation that is given by n zω z + n +ω + + n -ω - = 0, where ω z, ω + and ω - are the axial, perturbed cyclotron and the magnetron frequencies of the trapped electrons respectively, and the n's are integers. The reason for these instabilities are attributed to higher order static perturbations in the trapping potential. We present Monte Carlo simulations of the formation of (1×2) islands in the case of the 2 A + B 2 → 2 AB reaction occurring via the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism on a square lattice under steady-state conditions. The model employed takes into account the effect of anisotropic lateral B-B interactions on the rates of B diffusion and elementary reaction events. The results obtained with qualitatively realistic ratio of the rate of elementary reaction steps indicate that the average island size depends on the details of diffusion and reaction dynamics in a similar way as in the earlier studied case of the simplest A + B reaction running via the Eley-Rideal mechanism.
