Sudden birth versus sudden death of entanglement in multipartite systems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We study the entanglement dynamics of two cavities interacting with independent reservoirs. Expectedly, as the cavity entanglement is depleted, it is transferred to the reservoir degrees of freedom. We find also that when the cavity entanglement suddenly disappears, the reservoir entanglement suddenly and necessarily appears. Surprisingly, we show that this entanglement sudden birth can manifest before, simultaneously, or even after entanglement sudden death. Finally, we present an explanatory study of other entanglement partitions and of higher dimensional systems.  相似文献

We study dynamics of genuine entanglement for quantum states of three and four qubits under non-Markovian dephasing. Using a computable entanglement monotone for multipartite systems, we find that the GHZ state is quite resilient state whereas the W state is the most fragile. We compare dynamics of chosen quantum states with dynamics of random pure states and weighted graph states.  相似文献

We definitively show, using an explicit and broadly applicable model, that local phase noise that is capable of eliminating state coherence only in the infinite-time limit is capable of eliminating nonlocality in finite time in three two-level systems prepared in the Bell-nonlocal tripartite states of the generic entanglement class.  相似文献

The collision model of Ziman et al. was considered and the robustness of N-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ), W, and linear cluster states were studied. Our results show that N-qubit entanglement of GHZ states would be extremely fragile under collisional decoherence, and that of W states could be more robust than of linear cluster states. We report results bearing on the behavior of non-local decoherence and its potential for being managed or even controlled. The decoherence process known as entanglement sudden death (ESD) can drive prepared entanglement to zero at the same time that local coherences and fidelity remain non-zero. For a generic ESD-susceptible Bell superposition state, we provide rules restricting the occurrence and timing of ESD, amounting to management tools over a continuous variation of initial conditions. These depend on only three parameters: initial purity, entanglement and excitation. Knowledge or control of initial phases is not needed.  相似文献

We present a theoretical method to determine the multipartite entanglement between different partitions of multimode, fully or partially symmetric Gaussian states of continuous variable systems. For such states, we determine the exact expression of the logarithmic negativity and show that it coincides with that of equivalent two-mode Gaussian states. Exploiting this reduction, we demonstrate the scaling of the multipartite entanglement with the number of modes and its reliable experimental estimate by direct measurements of the global and local purities.  相似文献

We investigate the robustness of entanglement for a multiqubit system under dephasing and bit flip channels. We exhibit the difference between the entanglement evolution of the two forms of special states, which are locally unitarily equivalent to each other and therefore possess precisely the same entanglement properties, and demonstrate that the difference increases with the number of qubits n. Moreover, those two forms of states are either the most robust genuine entangled states or the most fragile ones, which confirm that local unitary(LU) operations can greatly enhance the entanglement robustness of n-qubit states.  相似文献

We prove, in a multipartite setting, that it is always feasible to exactly transform a genuinely m-partite entangled pure state with sufficient many copies to any other m-partite state via local quantum operation and classical communication. The outcomes obtained in Bell tests involving two-outcome measurements on two subsystems can, in principle, generate up to 2?bits of randomness. However, the maximal violation of the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality guarantees the generation of only 1.23?bits of randomness. We prove here that quantum correlations with arbitrarily little nonlocality and states with arbitrarily little entanglement can be used to certify that close to the maximum of 2?bits of randomness are produced. Our results show that nonlocality, entanglement, and randomness are inequivalent quantities. They also imply that device-independent quantum key distribution with an optimal key generation rate is possible by using almost-local correlations and that device-independent randomness generation with an optimal rate is possible with almost-local correlations and with almost-unentangled states.  相似文献

Monogamy and polygamy relations characterize the distributions of entanglement in multipartite systems. We introduce an operational interpretation for pure-state global multipartite entanglement based on quantum estimation. We show that the estimation of the strength of low-noise locally depolarizing channels, as quantified by the regularized quantum Fisher information, is directly related to the Meyer-Wallach multipartite entanglement measure. Using channels that depolarize across different partitions, we obtain related multipartite entanglement measures. We show that this measure is the sum of expectation values of local observables on two copies of the state.  相似文献

We study bipartite quantum discord as a manifestation of a multipartite entanglement structure in the tripartite purified system. In particular, we find that bipartite quantum discord requires the presence of both bipartite and tripartite entanglement in the purification. This allows one to understand the asymmetry of quantum discord, D(A,B)≠D(B,A)D(A,B)D(B,A) in terms of entanglement monogamy. As instructive special cases, we study discord for qubits and Gaussian states in detail. As a result of this we shed new light on a counterintuitive property of Gaussian states: the presence of classical correlations necessarily requires the presence of quantum correlations. Finally, our results also shed new light on a protocol for remote activation of entanglement by a third party.  相似文献

We investigate the entanglement dynamics of a system composed of two non-interacting qubits, A and B. A third qubit, C, only has the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) spin-orbit interaction with qubit B. We find that the DM interaction can induce the entanglement sudden death (ESD) of the system qubits A and B, and properly mixing the initial state of the system and adjusting the state of qubit C are two effective methods of controlling ESD.  相似文献

The entanglement dynamics of system, where atoms A and B interact with single mode cavity fields a and b respectively, is studied. The interaction between atom A and cavity a may be described by using the typical Jaynes Cummings model, while that between the atom B and cavity b filled with a Kerr medium is of a two-photon process. For a certain initial atom entanglement state, there is an entanglement sudden death effect between the two atoms. The Kerr medium in the cavity b can effectively prevent the undesirable entanglement sudden death from occurring. Also, from the viewpoint of the population dynamics, we discuss why the Kerr medium can do so.  相似文献

We discover a simple factorization law describing how multipartite entanglement of a composite quantum system evolves when one of the subsystems undergoes an arbitrary physical process. This multipartite entanglement decay is determined uniquely by a single factor we call the entanglement resilience factor. Since the entanglement resilience factor is a function of the quantum channel alone, we find that multipartite entanglement evolves in exactly the same way as bipartite (two qudits) entanglement. For the two qubits case, our factorization law reduces to the main result of [T. Konrad, Nature Phys. 4, 99 (2008)10.1038/nphys885]. In addition, for a permutation P, we provide an operational definition of P asymmetry of entanglement, and find the conditions when a permuted version of a state can be achieved by local means.  相似文献

We explore the results of [V. Coffman, et al., Phys. Rev. A 61 (2000) 052306] derived for general tripartite states in a dynamical context. We study a class of physically motivated tripartite systems. We show that whenever entanglement sudden death occurs in one of the partitions residual entanglement will appear. For fourpartite systems however, the appearance of residual entanglement is not conditioned by sudden death of entanglement. We can only say that if sudden death of entanglement occurs in some partition there will certainly be residual entanglement.  相似文献
