A general framework for a theory is presented that encompasses both statistical uncertainty, which falls within the province of probability theory, and nonstatistical uncertainty, which relates to the concept of a fuzzy set and possibility theory [L. A. Zadeh, J. Fuzzy Sets1 (1978), 3–28]. The concept of a fuzzy integral is used to define the expected value of a random variable. Properties of the fuzzy expectation are stated and a mean-value theorem for the fuzzy integral is proved. Comparisons between the fuzzy and the Lebesgue integral are presented. After a new concept of dependence is formulated, various convergence concepts are defined and their relationships are studied by using a Chebyshev-like inequality for the fuzzy integral. The possibility of using this theory in Bayesian estimation with fuzzy prior information is explored.  相似文献

Automatic image annotation is concerned with the task of assigning one or more semantic concepts to a given image. It is a typical multi-label classification problem. This paper presents a novel multi-label classification framework MLNRS based on neighborhood rough sets for automatic image annotation which considers the uncertainty of the mapping from visual feature space to semantic concepts space. Given a new instances, its neighbors in the training set are firstly identified. After that, based on the concept of upper and lower approximations of neighborhood rough sets, all possible labels of the given instance are found. Then, based on the statistical information gained from the label sets of the neighbors, maximum a posteriori (MAP) principle is utilized to determine the label set for the given instance. Experiments completed for three different image datasets show that MLNRS achieves more promising performance in comparison with to some well-known multi-label learning algorithms.  相似文献

We continue our study of statistical maps (equivalently, fuzzy random variables in the sense of Gudder and Bugajski). In the realm of fuzzy probability theory, statistical maps describe the transportation of probability measures on one measurable space into probability measures on another measurable space. We show that for discrete probability spaces each statistical map can be represented via a special matrix the rows of which are probability functions related to conditional probabilities and the columns are related to fuzzy n-partitions of the domain. Discrete statistical maps sending a probability measure p to a probability measure q can be represented via conditional distributions and correspond to joint probabilities on the product. The composition of statistical maps provide a tool to describe and to study generalized random walks and Markov chains.  相似文献

An enhanced-interval linear programming (EILP) model and its solution algorithm have been developed that incorporate enhanced-interval uncertainty (e.g., A±, B± and C±) in a linear optimization framework. As a new extension of linear programming, the EILP model has the following advantages. Its solution space is absolutely feasible compared to that of interval linear programming (ILP), which helps to achieve insight into the expected-value-oriented trade-off between system benefits and risks of constraint violations. The degree of uncertainty of its enhanced-interval objective function (EIOF) would be lower than that of ILP model when the solution space is absolutely feasible, and the EIOF’s expected value could be used as a criterion for generating the appropriate alternatives, which help decision-makers obtain non-extreme decisions. Moreover, because it can be decomposed into two submodels, EILP’s computational requirement is lower than that of stochastic and fuzzy LP models. The results of a numeric example further indicated the feasibility and effectiveness of EILP model. In addition, EI nonlinear programming models, hybrid stochastic or fuzzy EILP models as well as risk-based trade-off analysis for EI uncertainty within decision process can be further developed to improve its applicability.  相似文献

The notion of an m-polar fuzzy set is a generalization of a bipolar fuzzy set. We apply the concept of m-polar fuzzy sets to graphs. We introduce certain types of irregular m-polar fuzzy graphs and investigate some of their properties. We describe the concepts of types of irregular m-polar fuzzy graphs with several examples. We also present applications of m-polar fuzzy graphs in decision making and social network as examples.  相似文献

We propose a new fuzzy rough set approach which, differently from most known fuzzy set extensions of rough set theory, does not use any fuzzy logical connectives (t-norm, t-conorm, fuzzy implication). As there is no rationale for a particular choice of these connectives, avoiding this choice permits to reduce the part of arbitrary in the fuzzy rough approximation. Another advantage of the new approach is that it is based on the ordinal properties of fuzzy membership degrees only. The concepts of fuzzy lower and upper approximations are thus proposed, creating a base for induction of fuzzy decision rules having syntax and semantics of gradual rules. The proposed approach to rule induction is also interesting from the viewpoint of philosophy supporting data mining and knowledge discovery, because it is concordant with the method of concomitant variations by John Stuart Mill. The decision rules are induced from lower and upper approximations defined for positive and negative relationships between credibility degrees of multiple premises, on one hand, and conclusion, on the other hand.  相似文献

In this paper, the upper and lower δ-continuous multifunctions in fuzzy setting have been presented as a strong form and an application of fuzzy continuous multifunctions. Certain characterizations and several properties of these fuzzy multifunctions along with their mutual relationships are obtained. Attempts are also made to correlate this new class with the corresponding known types of fuzzy multifunctions. To model the uncertainty in the secondary possibility distributions, this paper develops a new method for handling interval-valued fuzzy variables with variable lower and upper possibility distributions. For a parametric interval-valued fuzzy variable, we define its lower selection variable, upper selection variable and lambda selection variable. The three selection variables are characterized by variable possibility distributions, and their numerical characteristics like expected values and n-th moments are important indices in practical optimization and decision-making problems. Under this consideration, we establish some useful analytical expressions of the expected values and n-th moments for the lambda selections of parametric interval-valued trapezoidal, normal and Erlang fuzzy variables. Furthermore, we focus on the arithmetic about the sums of common parametric interval-valued fuzzy variables. Finally, we apply the proposed optimization indices to a quantitative finance problem, where the second moment is used to measure the risk of a portfolio.  相似文献

In this paper we shall define the concept of a fuzzy subobject of an object in arbitrary categories. This concept is generated by the representation theorem of fuzzy sets. By using fuzzy subobjects one can include most of the fuzzy concepts defined in the literature, such as: fuzzy groups, fuzzy relations and fuzzy convex sets. In the second part of the paper we shall define a new concept; that of a C-set. This concept will generalize that of a fuzzy set and we shall also prove that C-sets can be represented by some sets of functors. More precisely, C-sets form a category which can be represented by a category of functors. The utility of C-sets resides in the fact that one can replace “ordering” by the more general concept of a morphism in category. The new representation of C-sets is weaker than that of fuzzy sets.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to describe and analyze students’ levels of understanding of exponents within the context of procedural and conceptual learning via the conceptual change and prototypes’ theory. The study was conducted with 202 secondary school students with the use of a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The results suggest that three levels of understanding can be identified. At the first level students’ interpretation of exponents is based upon exponents that symbolize natural numbers. At Level 2, students’ knowledge acquisition process is a process of enrichment of the existing conceptual structures. Students at this level are able to compute exponents with negative numbers by extending the application of prototype examples. Finally, at Level 3 students not only extend the prototype examples but also reorganize their thinking in order to compute and compare exponents with roots, a concept which is quite different from the concept of exponents with natural numbers.  相似文献

Profit maximization is an important issue to the firms that pursue the largest economic profit possible. This paper extends the situation from the deterministic to uncertain, where the coefficients are represented by fuzzy numbers. Intuitively, when the problem has fuzzy parameters, the derived profit value should be a fuzzy number as well. The extension principle is utilized to develop a pair of two-level mathematical programs to calculate the upper and lower bounds of the profit value at α-cuts. Following the duality theorem and a variable separation technique, the two-level mathematical programs are transformed into a class of one-level signomial geometric programs to solve. We introduce a model for the linguistic hedges ‘very’ and ‘quite’ within the label semantics framework, and combined with the prototype and conceptual spaces theories of concepts. The proposed model emerges naturally from the representational framework we use and as such, has a clear semantic grounding. We give generalisations of these hedge models and show that they can be composed with themselves and with other functions, going on to examine their behaviour in the limit of composition.  相似文献

The extension of the concept of Higashi and Klir [3] enables us to describe the set of solutions to our problem (for given tolerances) by means of posets. In a second part we investigate an inverse problem: Given upper (lower) tolerances how to determine lower (upper) tolerances such that the arising problem becomes consistent? Students' conceptions of three major artificial intelligence concepts used in the modeling of systems in science, fuzzy logic, neural networks, and genetic algorithms were investigated before and after a higher education science course. Students initially explored their prior ideas related to the three concepts through active tasks. Then, laboratories, project work, use of computer modeling of scientific systems, and cooperative group work were used to help students construct key characteristics of each concept. Finally, they applied each concept in contexts different from that in which it had been previously studied. In postcourse interviews using a set of scenarios for each of the major course concepts, 49% of students' applications included key characteristics of the concepts studied versus an application of 5% in precourse interviews. Students' post interview applications were inconsistent even though they were more frequent, indicating a state of transition in their conceptual change. Applications were most consistent when used with scenarios deemed very familiar to the students, indicating the effects of context in conceptual change.  相似文献
