Two versions of multiple scales and Krylov–Bogoliubov–Mitropolsky (KBM) methods are extended to obtain the asymptotic solutions of a class of strongly nonlinear oscillators with slowly varying parameters. A comparison of the two methods is made to show that the multiple scales method is equivalent to the KBM method for the first order approximation. An example of pendulum with slowly varying length is given to illustrate the comparison of the two methods.  相似文献

研究了悬索在受到外激励作用下考虑1:3内共振情况下的两模态非线性响应.对于一定范围内悬索的弹性-几何参数而言,悬索的第三阶面内对称模态的固有频率接近于第一阶面内对称模态固有频率的三倍,从而导致1:3内共振的存在.首先利用Galerkin方法把悬索的面内运动方程进行离散,然后利用多尺度法对离散的运动方程进行摄动得到主共振情况下的平均方程.接下来对平均方程的稳态解、周期解以及混沌解进行了研究.最后利用Runge-Kutta法研究了悬索两自由度离散模型的非线性响应.  相似文献

In this paper,asymptotic behaviour of the solution to the problem of a thin clamped circular plate under uniform normal pressure at very large deflection is restudied by means of the modified method of multiple scales given in[1?].The result presented herein is in good agreement with the one obtained by professor Chien Wei-zang who first proposed the method of composite expansions to solve this problem in[3].However,by contrast,the advantage of the modified method of multiple scales it seems to be relatively simpler than the method used in[3].It is also shown that the restriction of the method of paper[1-2]pointed out in paper[4]is not essential,and several computation errors in[3]are corrected as well.  相似文献

悬索在其施工、运营和维护阶段会不可避免地遭受损伤,导致振动特性发生改变。本文基于哈密顿变分原理,引入与损伤程度、范围和位置相关的三个无量纲参数,建立损伤效应影响下悬索面内动力学模型,并推导其无穷维的非线性动力学微分方程。利用高阶多尺度法得到系统发生主共振响应时的幅频响应方程及稳态解。数值算例表明,悬索线性和非线性共振响应特性与损伤效应密切相关。悬索一旦发生损伤,其张力减小,垂跨比增加,将形成新的静力构形。受损悬索的固有频率将下降,且随着损伤程度增加而进一步减小。损伤会导致悬索正/反对称模态频率的交点发生偏移,影响系统内共振响应特性;损伤会引发系统振动特性发生明显定量和定性改变,但是垂跨比不同,其共振响应特性受损伤影响会有明显区别;损伤甚至会直接改变系统稳态响应幅值以及稳定解的数量,导致系统产生明显大幅振动,影响结构安全。  相似文献

I compare application of the method of multiple scales with reconstitution and the generalized method of averaging for determining higher-order approximations of three single-degree-of-freedom systems and a two-degree-of-freedom system. Three implementations of the method of multiple scales are considered, namely, application of the method to the system equations expressed as second-order equations, as first-order equations, and in complex-variable form. I show that all of these methods produce the same modulation equations.I address the problem of determining higher-order approximate solutions of the Duffing equation in the case of primary resonance. I show that the conclusions of Rahman and Burton that the method of multiple scales, the generalized method of averaging, and Lie series and transforms might lead to incorrect results, in that spurious solutions occur and the obtained frequency–response curves bear little resemblance to the actual response, is the result of their using parameter values for which the neglected terms are the same order as the retained terms. I show also that spurious solutions cannot be avoided, in general, in any consistent expansion and their presence does not constitute a limitation of the methods. In particular, I show that, for the Duffing equation, the second-order frequency–response equation does not possess spurious solutions for the case of hardening nonlinearity, but possesses spurious solutions for the case of softening nonlinearity. For sufficiently small nonlinearity, the spurious solutions are far removed from the actual response. But as the strength of the nonlinearity increases, these solutions move closer to the backbone and eventually distort it. This is not a drawback of the perturbation methods but an indication of an application of the analysis for parameter values outside the range of validity of the expansion.Also, I address the problem of obtaining non-Hamiltonian modulation equations in the application of the method of multiple scales to multi-degree-of-freedom Hamiltonian systems written as second-order equations in time and how this problem can be overcome by attacking the state-space form of the governing equations. Moreover, I show that application of a variation of the method of Rahman and Burton to multi-degree-of-freedom systems leads to results that do not agree with those obtained with the generalized method of averaging.Contributed by Prof. R.A. The axially moving beams on simple supports with torsion springs are studied. The general modal functions of the axially moving beam with constant speed have been obtained from the supporting conditions. The contribution of the spring stiffness to the natural frequencies has been numerically investigated. Transverse stability is also studied for axially moving beams on simple supports with torsion springs. The method of multiple scales is applied to the partialdifferential equation governing the transverse parametric vibration. The stability boundary is derived from the solvability condition. Instability occurs if the axial speed fluctuation frequency is close to the sum of any two natural frequencies or is two fold natural frequency of the unperturbed system. It can be concluded that the spring stiffness makes both the natural frequencies and the instability regions smaller in the axial speed fluctuation frequency-amplitude plane for given mean axial speed and bending stiffness of the beam.  相似文献

Based on the Coriolis acceleration and the Lagrangian strain formula, a gen- eralized equation for the transverse vibration system of convection belts is derived using Newton's second law. The method of multiple scales is directly applied to the govern- ing equations, and an approximate solution of the primary parameter resonance of the system is obtained. The detuning parameter, cross-section area, elastic and viscoelastic parameters, and axial moving speed have a significant influences on the amplitudes of steady-state response and their existence boundaries. The free vibration of Duffing oscillator with time-delayed fractional-order Proportional-Integral-Derivative (FOPID) controller based on displacement feedback is studied. The second-order approximate analytical solution is obtained by KBM asymptotic method. The effects of the parameters in FOPID controller on the dynamical properties are characterized by some equivalent parameters. The correctness of the approximate analytical results is verified by the numerical results. The effects of the time-delayed FOPID controller with displacement feedback on control performances of Duffing oscillator are analyzed in detail by time response, and the stability conditions of zero solution and periodic motions are also presented. Finally, the control performances on Duffing oscillator with large damping are further analyzed. And the results show that one could take the advantage of time delay, when the parameters of time-delayed FOPID controller are chosen reasonably.  相似文献

利用解析和数值方法,以弹簧摆为对象讨论了线性的时滞位移反馈控制对一类平方非线性系统动力学行为的影响。根据多尺度法得到了1:2内共振情况下一次近似解的慢变方程,基于此讨论了反馈控制参数对零解的稳定性和周期解振幅的影响。结果表明:耦合的反馈项在平均方程中并不出现。根据罗斯-霍尔维茨判据发现,没有反馈控制时该系统的零解总是不稳定的,而通过调整反馈增益或反馈时滞就可以很容易地使零解稳定。反馈时滞对周期解振幅的影响呈现周期性,反馈增益或时滞发生变化时,周期解振幅的变化会表现出鞍结分岔现象;同时基于MATLAB软件的数值计算结果验证了该理论分析的正确性。  相似文献

A critical problem in designing large structures for space applications, such as space stations and parabolic antennas, is the limitation of testing these structures and their substructures on earth. These structures will exhibit very high flexibilities due to the small loads expected to be encountered in orbit. It has been reported in the literature that the gravitational sag effect under dead weight is of extreme importance during ground tests of space-station structural components [1–4]. An investigation of a horizontal, pinned-pinned beam with complete axial restraint and undergoing large-amplitude oscillations about the statically deflected position is presented here. This paper presents a solution for the frequency-amplitude relationship of the nonlinear free oscillations of a horizontal, immovable-end beam under the influence of gravity.The governing equation of motion used for the analysis is the Bernoulli-Euler type modified to include the effects of mid-plane stretching and gravity. Boundary conditions are simply supported such that at both ends there is no bending moment and no transverse and axial displacements. These boundary conditions give rise to an initial tension in the statically deflected shape. The displacement function consists of an assumed space mode using a simple sine function and unknown amplitude which is a function of time. This assumption provides for satisfaction of the boundary conditions and leads to an ordinary differential equation which is nonlinear, containing both quadratic and cubic functions of the amplitude. The perturbation method of multiple scales is used to provide an approximate solution for the fundamental frequency-amplitude relationship.Since the beam is initially deflected the small-amplitude fundamental natural frequency always increases relative to the free vibration situation provided in zero gravity. The nonlinear equation provides for interactions between frequency and amplitude in that both hardening and softening effects arise. The coefficient of the quadratic term in the nonlinear equation arises from the static (dead load) portion of the deflection. This quadratic term, depending upon its magnitude, introduces a softening effect that overcomes the hardening term (due to initial axial tension developed by deflection) for large slenderness ratios.For very large slender, immovable-end beams, the fundamental natural frequency is greater than that of beams without axial constraints undergoing small amplitude oscillations. This phenomenon is attributed to the stiffening effect of the statically-induced axial tension. In this paper the use of the mixed finite element method for stress analysis of reinforced conical branch pipe junctions subjected to internal water pressure is presented, branch pipe junction being considered as an intersection body of two thin conical shells. For the purpose of computing a large number of branch pipe junctions with different geometrical varieties, an automatical meshing routine has been put up in the mixed FEM program with 3 geometrical parameters of the junctions to be varied, i.e., the angle included between axes of the main pipe and the branch pipe,the thickness of the wall of the shell and that of the reinforcing pad and the ratio of diameters of the branch pipe to that of the main pipe. The computer program has been provided functions to distinguish 8 kinds of different meshes and 12 sorts of elements, and to lay automatically coordinates of nodes as well as different boundary conditions of elements. In this way, stress analyses of 101 junctions have been carried out and results of computations are excellent.  相似文献

An experimental validation of the suitability of reduction methods for studying nonlinear vibrations of distributed-parameter systems is attempted. Nonlinear planar vibrations of a clamped-clamped buckled beam about its first post-buckling configuration are analyzed. The case of primary resonance of the nth mode of the beam, when no internal resonances involving this mode are active, is investigated. Approximate solutions are obtained by applying the method of multiple scales to a single-mode model discretized via the Galerkin procedure and by directly attacking the governing integro-partial-differential equation and boundary conditions with the method of multiple scales. Frequency-response curves for the case of primary resonance of the first mode are generated using both approaches for several buckling levels and are contrasted with experimentally obtained frequency-response curves for two test beams. For high buckling levels above the first crossover point of the beam, the computed frequency-response curves are qualitatively as well as quantitatively different. The experimentally obtained frequency-response curves for the directly excited first mode are in agreement with those obtained with the direct approach and in disagreement with those obtained with the single-mode discretization approach.  相似文献

The transverse vibrations of a flexible connecting rod in an otherwise rigid slider-crank mechanism are considered. An analytical approach using the method of multiple scales is adopted and particular emphasis is placed on nonlinear effects which arise from finite deformations.
