The double Capelli polynomial of total degree is
It was proved by Giambruno-Sehgal and Chang that the double Capelli polynomial of total degree is a polynomial identity for . (Here, is a field and is the algebra of matrices over .) Using a strengthened version of this result obtained by Domokos, we show that the double Capelli polynomial of total degree is a polynomial identity for any proper -subalgebra of . Subsequently, we present a similar result for nonsplit inequivalent extensions of full matrix algebras.

Maximal commutative subalgebras of the algebra of n by n matrices over a field k very rarely have dimension smaller than n. There is a (B, N)-construction which yields subalgebras of this kind. The Courter's algebra that is of this kind was shown a (B, N)-construction where B is the Schur algebra of size 4 and N = k 4. That is, the Courter's algebra is isomorphic to B ? (k 4)2, the idealization of (k 4)2. It was questioned how many isomorphism classes can be produced by varying the finitely generated faithful B-module N. In this paper, we will show that the set of all algebras B ? N 2 fall into a single isomorphism class, where B is the Schur algebra of size 4 and N a finitely generated faithful B-module. 相似文献

We define the length of a finite system of generators of a given algebra $ \mathcal{A} $ as the smallest number k such that words of length not greater than k generate $ \mathcal{A} $ as a vector space, and the length of the algebra is the maximum of the lengths of its systems of generators. In this paper, we obtain a classification of matrix subalgebras of length 1 up to conjugation. The aim of this paper is to gain more insight into vector and matrix medians and to investigate algorithms to compute them. We prove relations between vector and matrix means and medians, particularly regarding the classical structure tensor. Moreover, we examine matrix medians corresponding to different unitarily invariant matrix norms for the case of symmetric 2×2 matrices, which frequently arise in image processing. Our findings are explained and illustrated by numerical examples. To solve the corresponding minimization problems, we propose several algorithms. Existing approaches include Weiszfeld’s algorithm for the computation of ?2 vector medians and semi-definite programming, in particular, second order cone programming, which has been used for matrix median computation. In this paper, we adapt Weiszfeld’s algorithm for our setting and show that also two splitting methods, namely the alternating direction method of multipliers and the parallel proximal algorithm, can be applied for generalized vector and matrix median computations. Besides, we compare the performance of these algorithms numerically and apply them within local median filters. 相似文献

In this paper, we initiate the study of the maximal subalgebras of exceptional simple classical Lie algebras \(\mathfrak {g}\) over algebraically closed fields k of positive characteristic p, such that the prime characteristic is good for \(\mathfrak {g}\). We deal with what is surely the most unnatural case; that is, where the maximal subalgebra in question is a simple subalgebra of non-classical type. We show that only the first Witt algebra can occur as a subalgebra of \(\mathfrak {g}\) and give an explicit classification of when it is maximal in \(\mathfrak {g}\). 相似文献

In 2000, Dergachev and Kirillov introduced subalgebras of “seaweed type” in and computed their index using certain graphs, which we call type-A meander graphs. Then the subalgebras of seaweed type, or just “seaweeds”, have been defined by Panyushev (2001) [9] for arbitrary reductive Lie algebras. Recently, a meander graph approach to computing the index in types B and C has been developed by the authors. In this article, we consider the most difficult and interesting case of type .
