A 16-m CF4 laser oscillator has operated at 1 kHz in a cooled static cell. Pump energies required from the low pressure, Q-switched, cw discharge CO2 laser were as low as 60 J. The laser cavity employed a multiple-pass off-axis path resonator in a ring configuration. CF4 laser power at 615 cm–1 and a 1-kHz repetition rate exceeded 300 W.  相似文献

A modulated far-infrared laser interferometer which is presently operating on the PDX experiment at Princeton is described. The interferometer geometry permits the characterization of inside D, outside D as well as circular discharges. To achieve this versatility, a titanium corner cube reflector, mounted inside the PDX vacuum vessel is used in conjunction with a second visible wavelength interferometer for vibration corrections. In addition, the use of room temperature quasi-optical Schottky diodes in the far-infrared interferometer is reported. The minimum detectable line average density of the system is 5×1011 cm–3.  相似文献

Iron-yttrium mixed oxides in varying ratios (YFe 91, 31, 11, 12, 13, and 19) annealed to different temperatures (850, 1000 and 1250 C) have been investigated by Mössbauer spectroscopy down to 85 K. The Mössbauer spectra are complex in nature, showing up to three magnetically split hyperfine patterns in iron-rich (Y Fe 11, 12, 13 and 19) samples; these three components are attributed to characteristic YFeO3, Y3Fe5O12 and hematite. The yttrium-rich samples (YFe 91, 31) show only one six-line spectrum of YFeO3.  相似文献

The microchip lasers based on the neodymium or the ytterbium doped yttrium-aluminium garnet crystal and Q-sw itched by the Cr4+:YAG film are considered. The optimal (maximizing of energy) values of the pumping beam radius, the absorber parameters (the thickness and tetravalent chromium ion concentration), and the output mirror reflectivity are determined. The possibility of higher values of energy in the Yb:YAG laser pulse, in comparison with a more traditional Nd:YAG laser, is also substantiated. PACS 42.60.Gd  相似文献

The entire sodium ion content of sodium alumina (Na1.67Mg0.67Al10.33O17) can be replaced with a variety of lanthanide ions by simple diffusion reactions at moderate temperatures (500–700°C). Lanthanide alumina crystals are hard, clear, chemically stable, and have well-defined crystal structures. The fluorescence spectrum of Nd3+ in alumina is similar to that in YAG. The lifetime of the4 F 3/2 state of Nd3+ in completely-exchanged alumina (350s at 1021 Nd3+ cm–3) is about 45% longer than in YAG (240s at 1020Nd3+ cm–3). The lanthanide aluminas may be of considerable interest as new phosphor and laser host materials.  相似文献

PLD and CVD methods, plasma or bias assisted, have been used to prepare thin films of nano-clustered graphite. The experimental conditions (vz. deposition apparatus, substrate temperature, working pressure, inert sustaining gases, parent species, and applied voltage) have been changed with the final aim of obtaining small graphene particles with the basal planes oriented along the growth vector and perpendicular to the n-Si100 substrate. Pulsed laser ablation (Nd:YAG, 2nd harmonic: =532 nm, h=2.33 eV, =7 ns, =10 Hz, 7 J/cm2), assisted by an RF-plasma, of a pyrolytic graphite target gave good results for nano-structure formation, provided high substrate temperature and high inert gas pressure are maintained. CVD methods, in the presence of high substrate temperature and a DC bias, showed a good attitude to drive a longitudinal growth of graphene layers and nano-wires from a reactive gas flow of Argon/Hydrogen and Methane. The morphology of the films grown at different conditions have been characterised by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Transparent conducting SnO2 thin films with a thickness between 1000–2000 Å were deposited on glass, quartz and silicon substrates using standard pulsed laser deposition techniques with two different targets (Sri and SnO2) and with three different laser wavelengths (1.06, 0.532 and 0.266 ) from a Q-switched Nd: YAG laser. Tin dioxide films with optical transmission over most of the visible spectrum exceeding 80% were obtained using a Sn target and a background oxygen pressure of 20 Pa. The electrical resistivity () depended strongly on the substrate temperature during deposition, with the lowest values of of about 10–2 -cm obtained when the substrate was maintained at 400°C during deposition. Using SnO2 targets, predominantly amorphous phase SnO2 films were deposited on Si substrates and then transformed into polycrystalline Sn3O4 by laser induced crystallization ( = 1.06 m). Whereas these later films were essentially non-conducting as deposited ( > 400 -cm), the electrical resistivity was permanently reduced after laser induced crystallization by a factor greater than 1000 to a value of approximately 4 × 10–1 -cm.  相似文献

Nonlinear optical absorption properties of silicate glasses doped by the PbS nanocrystals were investigated by means of the picosecond pump-probe absorption spectroscopy and absorption bleaching technique. The glass samples were used as saturable absorbers for passive mode-locking of Nd:YAG and Nd:glass lasers. Application of the PbS doped glass together with the active mode-locking and laser cavity quality control enabled the stable of generation of 28 ps and 5 ps duration pulses in Nd:YAG and Nd:glass lasers respectively. The second harmonic pulse train from a mode-locked NdYAG Self-Filtering Unstable Resonator has been compressed by a factor of 2.3 using Raman backscattering. Single pulses of 7.4 picoseconds at=0.68m and with 70 percent success probability have been obtained.  相似文献

Thirty-nine new submillimetre laser lines in CH2F2 and twelve in CD2Cl2 have been obtained in a Fabry-Perot FIR resonator by optically pumping with a CW12C18O2 laser. The wavelength range obtained for CH2F2 is 126m to 1091m and for CD2Cl2 212m to 774m. The wavelength measurements are accurate to within 5.10–3. The relative polarisations of the pump laser and the FIR laser output were also determined. Tentative assignments of the IR and FIR transitions were made using existing microwave data.  相似文献

The frequency noise characteristics of a single-frequency 2.1-m Tm-Ho:YAG laser have been thoroughly investigated. From the measurement of the frequency noise spectral density, performed by means of an interferometric technique, a short-term laser linewidth of 550 kHz over 1-ms time interval has been obtained. The frequency stability, defined as the two sample standard deviation of the frequency fluctuations with dead time T, has been also evaluated, obtaining values ranging from 250 kHz to 2.5 MHz for T values between 1 and 100 ms over an observation time of 100 ns. It has been shown through a numerical analysis that a significant improvement is achievable, attaining a frequency stability of 25 kHz for T up to 100 ms, by using the Pound–Drever locking technique in connection with a roto-vibrational line of the HBr molecule.  相似文献

The problem of conduction modulation of laser radiation is considered. It is shown that acoustic wave interacting with photon field in active medium causes a periodic modulation of the number of quanta in the single-mode gas laser. The problem of modulation is solved quantum mechanically and it is shown that dielectric and conduction modulation give similar results.  相似文献

Several new submillimeter laser lines have been observed in a CH3OH submillimeter laser, optically pumped by CO2—laser radiation in a low power pulsed mode.Assignments have been suggested for a number of the lines. A few lines have wavelengths close to atmospheric water vapor absorption peaks, and can be observed only when the air path from the submillimeter resonator exit mirror to the detector is kept short or flushed with dry nitrogen.  相似文献

The dynamical behaviour of a Q-switched, flashlamp-pumped Nd: YAG laser cooled to 253 K was investigated. The build-up time of photons in the resonator at 946 nm was 20 times longer than for 1064 nm generation in a Q-mode of operation. A type I second- and fourth-harmonic generation was obtained in KDP and BBO nonlinear optical crystals. A reproducible spectral line width of the second-harmonic generation =2.6 GHz within a tuning range of =146 GHz was achieved. A comparison between experimental and theoretical results is presented.  相似文献

Lasing in dynamic-distributed-feedback (DDFB) laser on the basis of a modified sol-gel matrix activated with Rhodamine 4C is reported. The lasing is achieved in the range of 590 nm with a wavelength tuning of about 20 nm. The slope efficiency of the sol-gel DDFB laser excited by the second harmonic radiation of a YAG:Nd3+ laser with a pulse duration of 40 ns is 16.5% at a lasing wavelength of 593 nm. The DDFB laser is also characterized by a threshold pumping energy of 90 J and a pumping energy density up to 40 mJ/cm2. The typical spectral width of the laser line is 0.025 nm.  相似文献

A diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser at 1123 nm is passively Q-switched by using a low doping concentration Cr4+:YAG crystal as a saturable absorber. When pumped by a 1.5-W laser diode, the laser produces pulses of 50-ns duration with a pulse energy of as much as 15 J and a peak power of 300 W at a pulse-repetition rate of 10 kHz. Using picosecond laser pulses of a NdYAG laser system we studied relaxation processes in high-excited monocrystalline silicon by transient reflectivity and transmittance. An experimental setup will be presented which is very sensitive to small refractive index changes. By different excitation radiations, i.e. different induced carrier distributions it is possible to separate the influence of different relaxation processes as surface and bulk recombination and diffusion on the simultaneously measured transient reflectivity and transmittance. The parameters of these relaxation processes were found by fitting the experimental results with computer calculations.  相似文献

A twin optically-pumped far-infrared CH3OH laser has been constructed for use in plasma diagnostics. The antisymmetric doublet due to the Raman-type resonant two-photon transition is reproducibly observed at 118.8 m. With the 118.8-m line, it is obtained from the frequency separation of the anti-symmetric doublet that CH3OH absorption line center is 16±1 MHz higher than the pump 9.7-m P(36) CO2 laser line center. It is shown that the Raman-type resonant two-photon transition is useful in order to get several-MHz phase modulation for the far-infrared laser interferometer. Some preliminary performances of this twin laser for the modulated interferometer are described.This work was carried out under the collaborating research program at the Institute of Plasma Physics, Nagoya University, Nagoya 464, Japan.  相似文献

The paper deals with the motion of 90° wedge domains in BaTiO3 in an alternating field of 50 c/s. The critical field, the positional hysteresis loops with double asymmetry, the production of wedges with polarization perpendicular to the field and 180° substructure in the wedges were studied. The differences between the behaviour of the wedges and the individual 90° walls are pointed out which are caused by differences in the energy balance of these formations and by different interactions with 180° processes. The upper limit of contribution of the wedge motion to the initial permittivity is estimated. The results are discussed from the phenomenological point of view.

We suggest a new method for investigating scaling properties of mesoscopic observables and their distributions in disordered systems showing metal-insulator transition. In such systems quantum interference effects lead to multifractal structure of eigenstates on scales much smaller than the correlation length of the transition which can be described by a set of exponents, thef() spectrum. The analysis off() spectra can be extended to any scaling variable. Multifractality is an indication for broad distributions of these variables. If the transition is governed by one correlation length only then thef() spectra of normalized scaling variables must be universal. The critical exponentv of the correlation length is determined by the value (0) wheref() takes its maximum and the scaling exponent of normalizationxv –1=(0)+x. As an illustrative example we calculate numerically thef() spectra of eigenstates in the critical regime of 2d disordered electron systems in high magnetic fields.
