This paper presents an approximate but efficient field treatment of the new easy-to-fabricate ferrite sphere based H-plane waveguide circulator for potentially low-cost millimeter wave communication systems. A new three-dimension modeling strategy using a self-inconsistent mixed coordinates based mode matching technique is developed, i.e. the solutions of the Helmholz wave equations in the ferrite sphere and in the surrounding areas are deduced in the form of infinite summation of spherical, cylindrical and general Cartesian modes respectively. The point matching method is then used on the interface to numerically obtain the coefficients of different orders basis functions of the field. Therefore, the field distributions as well as the characteristics of the circulator are numerically calculated and the good agreement is observed between the numerical results and the measured data.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel microstrip circulator with a magnetized ferrite sphere is proposed for various millimeter wave communications. A three-dimensional Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) approach for the analysis of this ferrite sphere based microstrip circulator is first presented. The electromagnetic fields inside the ferrite junction are calculated using special updating equations derived from the equation of motion of the magnetization vector and Maxwell's curl equations in consistency. Frequency dependent insertion loss, isolation and reflection loss of circulator are calculated over a wide band of frequencies with a single FDTD run. Experimental results at Ka band are presented and compared with theoretical simulations. As a result, a good agreement is found between them.  相似文献

An H-plane waveguide Y-junction circulator with a triangular ferrite post is investigated by a modified analysis of jointly resonance theory and simple field theory. Good agreement between the theoretical obtained performances and experimental results is observed. The circulator exhibits a very low insertion loss and a wide bandwidth.  相似文献

A modified resonance theory of waveguide circulator with ferrite specimen is presented. The kernal of this theory is a two-step analysis method of an H-plane Y-junction waveguide circulator. For the first step, the ferrite specimens of Y-junction waveguide circulators are treated as if it were dielectric resonators with no magnetic bias. This simplistic approach is used to design the ferrite specimens of the circulators. Simple formulas are developed for determining the center frequency of the circulators. For the second step, wave circulation is made possible when a pair of degenerate resonance modes experiences different changes when the ferrite specimens are being magnetized. A modified analysis of joint resonance theory and simple field theory is advanced to evaluate the performances of the circulators. Good agreements between the analytically obtained performance and experimental result of various MMW waveguide circulators are observed.  相似文献

This paper presents a hybrid method, which couples the vector finite element method (FEM) and method of moment (MOM) for analyzing the field and current distribution of the millimeter wave circuits. The FEM is applied to handle the interior region of dielectric bodies and MOM is used to solve surface integral equations. Then, These integral expressions are coupled into the FEM equations through the continuity of the tangential fields across the connection boundaries. Simultaneously, the short-open calibration (SOC) technique is used for predicting accurately the scattering parameters of the circuits. Numerical results are well compared with those published in the previous literatures.  相似文献

A gradient optimization technique along with a definition of cost function is applied to the CAD of the circulator with a magnetized ferrite sphere for millimeter wave communications. A three-dimensional Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) approach for the analysis of this ferrite sphere based microstrip circulator is presented. The topology of the structure is enforced at each step of optimization and its physical dimensions are used as optimization variables. The cost function is defined using location of zeros and poles of the circulator's transmission, isolation, and reflection functions. Numerical tests show that the optimization process converges from an arbitrarily selected starting point with the new definition of the cost function.  相似文献

In this paper, A numerical technique, called short-open calibration (SOC), in conjunction with edge-based finite element method (FEM) is employed to analyze millimeter wave circuit that can be segmented into two distinct section: static model of feedlines and dynamic model of circuit discontinuity. The derivation of reflection coefficient of 3D discontinuities is arranged in two steps. In the first step, this SOC technique is incorporated into the FEM for mesh truncation of computaional domain. In this way, much faster convergence is achieved for large-sparse linear matrix equations from FEM by this termination than by perfectly matching layers (PML). The field distribution of the dominated mode in uniform feedlines and entire circuit is obtained individually by exciting a pair of even and odd impressed voltages along the struture. In step two, Scattering parameters based on the voltages and current defintion is calculated by integral of electric and magnetic fields. Numerical solutions for a class of planar circuit discontuities are very well compared with those published in the available literatures.  相似文献

The combination of unifrontal and multifrontal techniques is applied for solving a large, sparse, and unsymmetric system of linear equations resulting from the use of edge-based finite element method (FEM) for millimeter wave ferrite devices. The formulation of finite element method combined with the perfectly matched layers (PML) is given and the combined algorithm of unifrontal and multifrontal methods is described. The lower data movement of unifrontal method and the lower fill-in of normal multifrontal methods are combined for an algorithm with their features. The performance of typical waveguide junction circulators is analyzed and the calculated results are compared with those obtained from the literature.  相似文献

The results of theoretical analysis and experimental investigation of the millimeter waves antenna with scanning beam are presented. The operation concept of the antenna is based on the effect of transformation of the surface waves of dielectric waveguide in the volume waves. The smooth space scanning of beam has been made by means of change of wave propagation constant inside of the dielectric waveguide. All experiments were made in the four-millimeter wave range. The angle of scanning was =35° and width of directional diagram was 2° in the scanning plane. The lens and the mirror antennas were designed.  相似文献

Based on the coupled mode theory, this paper presents the study on the influence of input mode mixture in circular oversized waveguide mode converters. Three kinds of commonly used waveguide mode converters, including the waveguide mode converters with varying wall radius or small axis perturbations, and the waveguide mode converters with bent structures, are taken as the examples. The results show that the spurious input modes do not simply superimpose onto the output modes, and in some cases they may deteriorate the conversion efficiency for the main output mode. Methods for transforming such spurious input mode mixture simultaneously into the main output mode are also presented in this paper.  相似文献

In this paper, the modified matrix pencil (MMP) method is used in the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method to eliminate the late time instability of time domain responses when analyzing the novel microstrip circulator with a magnetized ferrite sphere. The frequency dependent scattering parameters: reflection, isolation and insertion parameters of the microstrip circulator calculated over a wide band of frequencies with this hybrid method are compared with that obtained by direct FDTD method which agree well with the experimental results.  相似文献

In this paper, both banded and symmetric successive overrelaxation (SSOR) preconditioned conjugate gradient (PCG) techniques are combined with method of lines (MOL) to further enhance the computational efficiency of this semi-analytic method. The electromagnetic wave scattering of 2-D frequency-selective surface is used as the examples to describe its implementation, whose analysis usually needs fast algorithms because of electrically large dimension. For arbitrary incident wave, helmholtz equation and boundary condition are used to calculate the impedance matrix and then to obtain reduced current-voltage linear matrix equation in spatial domain. Both banded and effective symmetric successive overrelaxation preconditioned conjugate gradient iterative method are chosen to solve this matrix equation. Our numerical results show that PCG methods can converge to accurate solution in much fewer iteration steps for analysis of the electromagnetic wave scattering from 2-D frequency-selective surface.  相似文献

An effective technique to characterize multilayered millimeter wave structure with vertical via-holes connected is presented. The advantage of this method is the closed-form Greens functions in spatial domain for general electric and magnetic sources in multilayered medium are obtained easily in terms of the two-level discrete complex image method (DCIM) with the high-order Sommerfeld identities, which only four elements of Greens functions in spectral domain are needed. In addition, the curl operators in mixed potential integral equations (MPIE) are avoided effectively from the Greens functions in this paper. A low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) aperture coupled antenna with vertical via-holes connected is analyzed to prove the accuracy and efficiency of this technique on three-dimensional (3-D) multilayered structure with vertical components.  相似文献

In this paper, both fast Fourier transformation (FFT) and preconditioned CG technique are introduced into method of lines (MOL) to further enhance the computational efficiency of this semi-analytic method. Electromagnetic wave scattering by an infinite plane metallic grating is used as the examples to describe its implementation. For arbitrary incident wave, Helmholz equation and boundary condition are first transformed into new ones so that the impedance matrix elements are calculated by FFT technique. As a result, this Topelitz impedance matrix only requires O(N) memory storage for the conjugate gradient FFT method to solve the current distribution with the computational complexity O(N log N) . Our numerical results show that circulate matrix preconditioner can speed up CG-FFT method to converge in much smaller CPU time than the banded matrix preconditioner.  相似文献

The Incomplete Cholesky factorizations preconditioning scheme is applied to the conjugate gradient (CG) method for solving a large system of linear equations resulting from finite element method (FEM) analysis of millimeter wave filters. As is well known, the convergence of CG method deteriorates with increasing EM wave number and in millimeter wave band the eigen-values of A are more and more scattered between both the right and the left half-plane. The efficient implementation of this preconditioned CG (PCG) algorithm is described in details for Complex coefficient matrix. With incomplete factorization preconditioning scheme in the conjugate gradient algorithm, this PCG approach can reach convergence in 20 times CPU time shorter than CG for several typical millimeter wave structures.  相似文献

A dielectric-loaded, ridged helical groove slow-wave structure for the millimeter wave traveling wave tube is presented in this paper. The effects of the groove depth, ridge dimensions and the dielectric permitivety on the wave propagating properties and the interaction impedance are investigated in detail. From the analysis, it is indicated that for broader band amplification in a helical groove travelling wave tube, a ridged helical structure with shallow groove and loaded by dielectric with proper relative permitivety may be applied.  相似文献

In this paper, the performances of two typical discontinuous structures of the NRD-guide, the traverse metallic rod to disturb an incident wave and the traverse probe to excite required modes, are analyzed and computed by utilizing the theory of modes orthogonality of the NRD-guide. The moment method is used to evaluate the current distribution on the rod and probe and the affection of some higher-order modes is taken into account simultaneously. On these bases, the multitone exciting steady states of two kinds of important circuits that employ the above discontinuous structures, the NRD-guide crossbar balanced mixer and the LSM 11 0 -mode oscillator, are simulated by the harmonic balance technique based on the multi-dimensional discrete Fourier transformation (MDFT-HB method).  相似文献
