Multisegmented poly(methacrylate)s were synthesized using one pot reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. Initially, a series of triblock copolymers were synthesized with different ratios of trimethylsilyl methacrylate, di(ethylene oxide) methacrylate, and oligo(ethylene oxide) methacrylate, and different total polymer molecular weights. Additionally, a polymer containing seven distinct blocks of methacrylic monomers was synthesized in one pot. For the triblock copolymers, the trimethylsilyl group was subsequently hydrolyzed, and the self‐assembly of the triblock copolymer was studied in water, under different pH and thermal conditions. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report the first instance of facile synthesis of dumbbell‐shaped dendritic‐linear‐dendritic triblock copolymer, [G‐3]‐PNIPAM‐[G‐3], consisting of third generation poly(benzyl ether) monodendrons ([G‐3]) and linear poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM), via reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The key step was the preparation of novel [G‐3]‐based RAFT agent, [G‐3]‐CH2SCSSCH2‐[G‐3] (1), from third‐generation dendritic poly(benzyl ether) bromide, [G‐3]‐CH2Br. Due to the bulky nature of [G‐3]‐CH2Br, its transformation into trithiocarbonate 1 cannot go to completion, a mixture containing ~80 mol % of 1 and 20 mol % [G‐3]‐CH2Br was obtained. Dumbbell‐shaped [G‐3]‐PNIPAM310‐[G‐3] triblock copolymer was then successfully obtained by the RAFT polymerization of N‐isopropylacylamide (NIPAM) using 1 as the mediating agent, and trace amount of unreacted [G‐3]‐CH2Br was conveniently removed during purification by precipitating the polymer into diethyl ether. The dendritic‐linear‐dendritic triblock structure was further confirmed by aminolysis, and fully characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and 1H‐NMR. The amphiphilic dumbbell‐shaped triblock copolymer contains a thermoresponsive PNIPAM middle block, in aqueous solution it self‐assembles into spherical nanoparticles with the core consisting of hydrophobic [G‐3] dendritic block and stabilized by the PNIPAM central block, forming loops surrounding the insoluble core. The micellar properties of [G‐3]‐PNIPAM310‐[G‐3] were then fully characterized. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 45: 1432–1445, 2007  相似文献

Polymerization‐induced self‐assembly of block copolymer through dispersion RAFT polymerization has been demonstrated to be a valid method to prepare block copolymer nano‐objects. However, volatile solvents are generally involved in this preparation. Herein, the in situ synthesis of block copolymer nano‐objects of poly(ethylene glycol)‐block‐polystyrene (PEG‐b‐PS) in the ionic liquid of 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([BMIN][PF6]) through the macro‐RAFT agent mediated dispersion polymerization is investigated. It is found that the dispersion RAFT polymerization of styrene in the ionic liquid of [BMIN][PF6] runs faster than that in the alcoholic solvent, and the dispersion RAFT polymerization in the ionic liquid affords good control over the molecular weight and the molecular weight distribution of the PEG‐b‐PS diblock copolymer. The morphology of the in situ synthesized PEG‐b‐PS diblock copolymer nano‐objects, e.g., nanospheres and vesicles, in the ionic liquid is dependent on the polymerization degree of the solvophobic block and the concentration of the fed monomer, which is somewhat similar to those in alcoholic solvent. It is anticipated that the dispersion RAFT polymerization in ionic liquid broads a new way to prepare block copolymer nano‐objects. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. This article describes the syntheses and solution behavior of model amphiphilic dendritic–linear diblock copolymers that self‐assemble in aqueous solutions into micelles with thermoresponsive shells. The investigated materials are constructed of poly(benzyl ether) monodendrons of the second generation ([G‐2]) or third generation ([G‐3]) and linear poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM). [G‐2]‐PNIPAM and [G‐3]‐PNIPAM dendritic–linear diblock copolymers have been prepared by reversible addition–fragmentation transfer (RAFT) polymerizations of N‐isopropylacrylamide with a [G‐2]‐ or [G‐3]‐based RAFT agent, respectively. The critical micelle concentration (cmc) of [G‐3]‐PNIPAM220, determined by surface tensiometry, is 6.3 × 10?6 g/mL, whereas [G‐2]‐PNIPAM235 has a cmc of 1.0 × 10?5 g/mL. Transmission electron microscopy results indicate the presence of spherical micelles in aqueous solutions. The thermoresponsive conformational changes of PNIPAM chains located at the shell of the dendritic–linear diblock copolymer micelles have been thoroughly investigated with a combination of dynamic and static laser light scattering and excimer fluorescence. The thermoresponsive collapse of the PNIPAM shell is a two‐stage process; the first one occurs gradually in the temperature range of 20–29 °C, which is much lower than the lower critical solution temperature of linear PNIPAM homopolymer, followed by the second process, in which the main collapse of PNIPAM chains takes place in the narrow temperature range of 29–31 °C. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Double hydrophilic diblock copolymer, poly(N,N‐dimethylacrylamide)‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐3‐azidopropylacrylamide) (PDMA‐b‐P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM), containing azide moieties in one of the blocks was synthesized via consecutive reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. The obtained diblock copolymer molecularly dissolves in aqueous solution at room temperature, and can further supramolecularly self‐assemble into core‐shell nanoparticles consisting of thermoresponsive P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM) cores and water‐soluble PDMA coronas above the lower critical solution temperature of P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM) block. As the micelle cores contain reactive azide residues, core crosslinking can be facilely achieved upon addition of difunctional propargyl ether via click chemistry. In an alternate approach in which the PDMA‐b‐P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM) diblock copolymer was dissolved in a common organic solvent (DMF), the core‐crosslinked (CCL) micelles can be fabricated via “click” crosslinking upon addition of propargyl ether and subsequent dialysis against water. CCL micelles prepared by the latter approach typically possess larger sizes and broader size distributions, compared with that obtained by the former one. In both cases, the obtained (CCL) micelles possess thermoresponsive cores, and the swelling/shrinking of which can be finely tuned with temperature, rendering them as excellent candidates as intelligent drug nanocarriers. Because of the high efficiency and quite mild conditions of click reactions, we expect that this strategy can be generalized for the structural fixation of other self‐assembled nanostructures. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel POSS‐containing methacrylate monomer (HEMAPOSS) was fabricated by extending the side chain between polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) unit and methacrylate group, which can efficiently decrease the steric hindrance in free‐radical polymerization of POSS‐methacrylate monomer. POSS‐containing homopolymers (PHEMAPOSS) with a higher degree of polymerization (DP) can be prepared using HEMAPOSS monomer via reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. PHEMAPOSS was further used as the macro‐RAFT agent to construct a series of amphiphilic POSS‐containing poly(N, N‐dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) diblock copolymers, PHEMAPOSS‐b‐PDMAEMA. PHEMAPOSS‐b‐PDMAEMA block copolymers can self‐assemble into a plethora of morphologies ranging from irregular assembled aggregates to core‐shell spheres and further from complex spheres (pearl‐necklace‐liked structure) to large compound vesicles. The thermo‐ and pH‐responsive behaviors of the micelles were also investigated by dynamic laser scattering, UV spectroscopy, SEM, and TEM. The results reveal the reversible transition of the assembled morphologies from spherical micelles to complex micelles was realized through acid‐base control. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Four well‐defined diblock copolymers and one statistical copolymer based on lauryl methacrylate (LauMA) and 2‐(acetoacetoxy)ethyl methacrylate (AEMA) were prepared using reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The polymers were characterized in terms of molecular weights, polydispersity indices (ranging between 1.12 and 1.23) and compositions by size exclusion chromatography and 1H NMR spectroscopy, respectively. The preparation of the block copolymers was accomplished following a two‐step methodology: First, well‐defined LauMA homopolymers were prepared by RAFT using cumyl dithiobenzoate as the chain transfer agent (CTA). Kinetic studies revealed that the polymerization of LauMA followed first‐order kinetics demonstrating the “livingness” of the RAFT process. The pLauMAs were subsequently used as macro‐CTA for the polymerization of AEMA. The glass transition (Tg) and decomposition temperatures (ranging between 200 and 300 °C) of the copolymers were determined using differential scanning calorimetry and thermal gravimetric analysis, respectively. The Tgs of the LauMA homopolymers were found to be around ?53 °C. Block copolymers exhibited two Tgs suggesting microphase separation in the bulk whereas the statistical copolymer presented a single Tg as expected. Furthermore, the micellization behavior of pLauMA‐b‐pAEMA block copolymers was investigated in n‐hexane, a selective solvent for the LauMA block, using dynamic light scattering. pLauMA‐b‐pAEMA block copolymers formed spherical micelles in dilute hexane solutions with hydrodynamic diameters ranging between 30 and 50 nm. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis and self‐assembly properties in aqueous solutions of novel amphiphilic block copolymers composed of one hydrophobic poly (lauryl methacrylate), (PLMA) block and one hydrophilic poly (oligo ethylene glycol methacrylate) (POEGMA) block are reported. The block copolymers were prepared by RAFT polymerization and were molecularly characterized by size exclusion chromatography, NMR and FT‐IR spectroscopy, and DSC. The PLMA‐b‐POEGMA amphiphilic block copolymers self‐assemble in nanosized complex nanostructures resembling compound micelles when inserted in aqueous media, as supported by light scattering and TEM measurements. The encapsulation and release of the model, hydrophobic, nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drug indomethacin in the polymeric micelles is also investigated. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. This article reports on studies regarding the photoisomerization kinetics and self‐assembly behaviors of two photoresponsive diblock copolymers, poly(4‐acetoxystyrene)‐block‐poly[6‐(4‐methoxy‐azobenzene‐4′‐oxy) hexyl acrylate] (poly(StO54b‐Cazo9) and poly(StO54b‐Cazo5)), which dissolved in a THF/H2O solution through two‐step reverse addition‐fragmentation transfer polymerization. We examined the effect of heating methods (i.e., conventional and microwave heating) on the polymerization kinetics of a 4‐acetoxystyrene‐based macrochain transfer agent (StO macro‐CTA). The kinetics studies on the homopolymerization of StO by using microwave heating demonstrated controllable characteristics with relatively narrow polydispersities at ~1.14. The diblock copolymers exhibited moderate thermal stability, with thermal decomposition temperatures greater than 343.3 °C, suggesting that the enhancement of the thermal stability was due to the incorporation of azobenzene segments into block copolymers. Poly(StO54b‐Cazo9) showed lower photoisomerization rate constants (kt = 0.039 s?1) compared with Cazo monomer (kt = 0.097 s?1). Micellar aggregates with a mean diameter of approximately 238.3 nm were formed by gradually adding water to the THF solution (water content = 10 vol %), and are shown in SEM and TEM images of the diblock copolymer. The results of this study contribute to the literature regarding the development of photoresponsive polymer materials. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Poly(2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate)‐b‐poly(γ‐methacryloxypropyl‐trimethoxysilane) (PDMA‐b‐PMPS) was synthesized via consecutive reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerizations in 1,4‐dioxane. Subsequent micellization of the obtained amphiphilic diblock polymer in aqueous solution led to the formation of nanoparticles consisting of hydrophobic PMPS cores and well‐solvated PDMA shells. Containing tertiary amine residues, PDMA blocks in micelle coronas can spontaneously catalyze the sol–gel reactions of trimethoxysilyl groups within PMPS cores, leading to the formation of hybrid nanoparticles coated with PDMA brushes. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and laser light scattering (LLS) revealed the presence of monodisperse spherical hybrid nanoparticles, and the grafting density of PDMA chains at the surface of nanoparticle cores was estimated to be ~5.8 nm2/chain. PDMA brushes exhibit dual stimuli‐responsiveness, and the swelling/collapse of them can be finely tuned with solution pH and temperatures. The obtained multi‐responsive hybrid nanoparticles might find potential applications in fields such as smart devices, recyclable catalysts, and intelligent nanocarriers for drug delivery or gene transfection. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Doubly thermoresponsive ABC brush‐linear‐linear triblock copolymer nanoparticles of poly[poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether vinylphenyl]‐block‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐block‐polystyrene [P(mPEGV)‐b‐PNIPAM‐b‐PS] containing two thermoresponsive blocks of poly[poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether vinylphenyl] [P(mPEGV)] and poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) are prepared by macro‐RAFT agent mediated dispersion polymerization. The P(mPEGV)‐b‐PNIPAM‐b‐PS nanoparticles exhibit two separate lower critical solution temperatures or phase‐transition temperatures (PTTs) corresponding to the linear PNIPAM block and the brush P(mPEGV) block in water. Upon temperature increasing above the first and then the second PTT, the hydrodynamic diameter (Dh) of the triblock copolymer nanoparticles undergoes an initial shrinkage at the first PTT and the subsequent shrinkage at the second PTT. The effect of the chain length of the PNIPAM block on the thermoresponsive behavior of the triblock copolymer nanoparticles is investigated. It is found that, the longer chains of the thermoresponsive PNIPAM block, the greater contribution on the transmittance change of the aqueous dispersion of the triblock copolymer nanoparticles. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Triblock copolymers of N‐vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) were synthesized by reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization using two different types of difunctional telechelic PDMS‐based dixanthate macroinitiators. The incorporation of PDMS into the triblock copolymers was evidenced by 1H NMR spectroscopy and varied between 4 mol % and as high as 20 mol %, dependent on reaction time and monomer conversion. The copolymer homogeneity was characterized in terms of molecular weight distribution determined by GPC to estimate the level of control over the chain length. Monomodal molecular weight distributions were observed, and 1H NMR spectroscopy indicated the copolymers had number average molecular weights (Mn) ranging between 28,000 and 160,000 g/mol. In addition, thin film phase separation and critical micelle concentrations for these copolymers were analyzed via transmission electron microscopy and surface tension measurements, respectively. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An amphiphilic multiblock copolymer [poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐polystyrene]n [(PEO‐b‐PS)n] is synthesized by using trithiocarbonate‐embedded PEO as macro‐RAFT agent. PEO with four inserted trithiocarbonate (Mn = 9200 and Mw/Mn = 1.62) groups is prepared first by condensation of α, ω‐dihydroxyl poly(ethylene oxide) with S, S′‐Bis(α, α′‐dimethyl‐α″‐acetic acid)‐trithiocarbonate (BDATC) in the presence of pyridine, then a series of goal copolymers with different St units (varied from 25 to 218 per segment) are obtained by reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The synthesis process is monitored by size exclusion chromatography (SEC), 1H NMR and FT‐IR. The self‐assembled morphologies of the copolymers are strongly dependent of the length of PS block chains when the chain length of PEO is fixed, some new morphologies as large leaf‐like aggregates (LLAs), large octopus‐like aggregates (LOAs), and coarse‐grain like micelles (CGMs) are observed besides some familiar aggregates as large compound vesicles (LCVs), lamellae and rods, and the effect of water content on the morphologies is also discussed. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, the amphiphilic block copolymers containing polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS), namely PMAPOSS‐b‐PAA and PMAPOSS‐b‐P(AA‐co‐St), were synthesized consecutively by reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer and selective hydrolysis, and characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography. In the presence of the nearly gradient styrene distribution along the hydrophilic block with a feed molar ratio of tert‐butyl acrylate (tBA) to St being 10/1, patterned core‐corona nanoparticles (NPs) were formed from the mixture of good/selective solvents (THF/water) by a simple evaporation process at room temperature. With the extending of the co‐block length, the self‐assembled NPs exhibited phase separation behavior of spheres‐dispersed, onion‐like and onion‐cluster hierarchical structures in turn. However, while a change in the feed molar ratio occurred, it resulted in the formation of typical core‐shell micelles (20/1, tBA/St) and disordered particles (5/1, tBA/St), respectively. Furthermore, the self‐assembly behavior of PMAPOSS‐b‐P(AA‐co‐St) in DMF was investigated, which showed that it could perform a mixture morphology of well‐dispersive sphere micelles and large aggregate of micelles. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Well‐defined homopolymers of pentafluorophenyl acrylate (PFPA) and AB diblock copolymers of N,N‐dimethylacrylamide (DMA) and poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether acrylate (PEGA) with PFPA were prepared by reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) radical polymerization. Three PFPA homopolymers of different molecular weights were reacted with the commercially available amidine and guanidine species histamine (HIS) dihydrochloride and L ‐arginine methyl ester (ARG) dihydrochloride in the presence of S‐methyl methanethiosulfonate to yield, quantitatively, the corresponding amidine and guanidine‐based acrylamido homopolymers. Both the HIS and ARG homopolymers are known to reversibly bind CO2 with, in the case of the former, CO2 fixation being accompanied with a switch from a hydrophobic to hydrophilic state. The RAFT synthesis of PFPA‐DMA and PEGA‐PFPA diblock copolymers yielded well‐defined materials with a range of molar compositions. These precursor materials were converted to the corresponding HIS and ARG block copolymers whose structure was confirmed using 1H NMR spectroscopy. Employing a combination of dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy, we demonstrate that the DMA‐HIS and PEGA‐HIS diblock copolymers are able to undergo reversible and cyclable self‐directed assembly in aqueous media using CO2 and N2 as the triggers between fully hydrophilic and amphiphilic (assembled) states. For example, in the case of the 54:46 DMA‐HIS diblock, aggregates with hydrodynamic diameters of about 40.0 nm are readily formed from the molecularly dissolved state. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report a poly(ethylene glycol)‐poly(L ‐alanine)‐azobenzene‐poly(L ‐alanine)‐poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG‐PA‐Z‐PA‐PEG) as a temperature and light sensitive polymer. The poly(ethylene glycol)‐poly(L ‐alanine) diblock copolymers with a flexible‐rigid block structure were coupled by an azobenzene group that undergoes a reversible configurational change between “trans” and “cis” upon exposure to UV and vis light. The single azobenzene molecule embedded in the middle of a block copolymer with a flexible (shell)‐rigid (core) structure significantly affected molecular assembly, micelle size, polypeptide secondary structure, and sol‐to‐gel transition temperature of the polymer aqueous solution, depending on its exposure to UV or vis light. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Monoalkynyl‐functionalized fullerene was precisely synthesized starting with pristine fullerene (C60) and characterized by multiple techniques. Methyl methacrylate and 6‐azido hexyl methacrylate were then randomly copolymerized via reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization to build polymer backbones with well‐controlled molecular weights and copolymer compositions. Finally, these two moieties were covalently assembled into a series of well‐defined side chain fullerene polymers (SFPs) via the copper‐mediated click reaction which was verified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and 1H NMR. The fullerene loadings of the resultant polymers were estimated by thermogravimetric analysis and UV–vis spectroscopy, demonstrating consistent and high conversions in most of the samples. The morphology studies of the SFPs were performed both in solution and on solid substrates. Very intriguing self‐aggregation behaviors were detected by both gel permeation chromatography and dynamic light scattering analyses. Furthermore, the scanning electron microscopic images of these polymers showed the formation of various supramolecular nanoparticle assemblies and crystalline‐like clusters depending on the fullerene contents and polymer chain lengths. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The light‐responsive behavior in solution and in thin films of block copolymers bearing 2‐nitrobenzyl photocleavable esters as side groups is discussed in this article. The polymers were synthesized by grafting 2‐nitrobenzyl moieties onto poly(acrylic acid)‐block‐polystyrene (PAA‐b‐PS) precursor polymers, leading to poly(2‐nitrobenzyl acrylate‐random‐acrylic acid)‐block‐polystyrene (P(NBA‐r‐AA)‐b‐PS) block copolymers. The UV irradiation of the block copolymers in a selective solvent for PS led to the formation of micelles that were used to trap hydrophilic molecules inside their core (light‐induced encapsulation). In addition, thin films consisting of light‐responsive P(NBA‐r‐AA) cylinders surrounded by a PS matrix were achieved by the self‐assembly of P(NBA‐r‐AA)‐b‐PS copolymers onto silicon substrates. Exposing these films to UV irradiation generates nanostructured materials containing carboxylic acids inside the cylindrical nanodomains. The availability of these chemical functions was demonstrated by reacting them with a functional fluorescent dye. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

Poly(2‐hydroxyethyl acrylate)–poly(n‐butyl acrylate) block copolymers were synthesized with the reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) process. The block copolymers were synthesized successfully with either poly(2‐hydroxyethyl acrylate) or poly(n‐butyl acrylate) macro‐RAFT agents. The resulting block copolymers had narrow molecular weight distributions (polydispersity index = 1.3–1.4). Copolymer self‐aggregation in water yielded micelles, with the hydrodynamic diameter (Dh) values of the aggregates dependent on the length of both blocks according to DhNBA1.17NHEA0.57, where NBA is the number of repeating units of n‐butyl acrylate and NHEA is the number of repeating units of 2‐hydroxyethyl acrylate. The micelles were subsequently stabilized via chain extension of the block copolymer with a crosslinking agent. The successful chain extension in a micellar system was confirmed by an increase in the molecular weight, which was detected with membrane osmometry. The crosslinked particles showed noticeably different aggregation behavior in diverse solvent systems. The uncrosslinked micelles formed by the block copolymer (NHEA = 260, NBA = 75) displayed a definite critical micelle concentration at 5.4 × 10?4 g L?1 in aqueous solutions. However, upon crosslinking, the critical micelle concentration transition became obscure. © 2006Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 44: 2177–2194, 2006  相似文献

The micellar macro‐RAFT agent‐mediated dispersion polymerization of styrene in the methanol/water mixture is performed and synthesis of temperature‐sensitive ABC triblock copolymer nanoparticles is investigated. The thermoresponsive diblock copolymer of poly(N,N‐dimethylacrylamide)‐block‐poly[N‐(4‐vinylbenzyl)‐N,N‐diethylamine] trithiocarbonate forms micelles in the polymerization solvent at the polymerization temperature and, therefore, the dispersion RAFT polymerization undergoes as similarly as seeded dispersion polymerization with accelerated polymerization rate. With the progress of the RAFT polymerization, the molecular weight of the synthesized triblock copolymer of poly(N,N‐dimethylacrylamide)‐block‐poly[N‐(4‐vinylbenzyl)‐N,N‐diethylamine]‐b‐polystyrene linearly increases with the monomer conversion, and the PDI values of the triblock copolymers are below 1.2. The dispersion RAFT polymerization affords the in situ synthesis of the triblock copolymer nanoparticles, and the mean diameter of the triblock copolymer nanoparticles increases with the polymerization degree of the polystyrene block. The triblock copolymer nanoparticles contain a central thermoresponsive poly [N‐(4‐vinylbenzyl)‐N,N‐diethylamine] block, and the soluble‐to‐insoluble ‐‐transition temperature is dependent on the methanol content in the methanol/water mixture. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
