The gas‐phase acidities (GA) of 2‐aryl‐2‐chloro‐1,1,1‐trifluoroethanes ( 1a ), 2‐aryl‐2‐fluoro‐1,1,1‐trifluoroethanes ( 2a ), and related compounds, XC6H4CH(Z)R where Z = Cl ( 1 ) or F ( 2 ) and R = C2F5 ( b ), t‐C4F9 ( c ), C(CF3)2C2F5 ( d ), C(CF3)2Me ( e ), Me ( f ), H ( g ), were investigated experimentally and computationally. On the basis of an excellent linear correlation (R2 > 0.99) of acidities of 1c , 1d , 1e , 1f and 2c , 2d , 2e , 2f where there is no fluorine atom at β‐position to the deprotonation site with the corrected number of fluorine atoms contained in the fluorinated alkyl group, the extent of β‐fluorine negative hyperconjugation of the CF3 and C2F5 groups (ΔGoβ‐F) was evaluated. The GAel values given by subtraction ΔGoβ‐F from the apparent GA value were considered to represent the electronic effect of the substituent X. The substituent effects on the GAel values and GA values for 1c , 1d , 1e , 1f and 2c , 2d , 2e , 2f were successfully analyzed in terms of the Yukawa–Tsuno equation. The variation of resonance demand parameter r? with the R group observed for various XC6H4CH(Z)R was linearly related to the GA (GAel) value of the respective phenyl‐substituted fluorinated alkanes. On the other hand, the corresponding correlation for the ρ values provided three lines for ArCH(Cl)R, ArCH(F)R and ArCH2R, respectively. These results supported our previous conclusion that the r? and ρ values are governed by the thermodynamic stability of the parent ion (ring substituent = H). Other factors arising from an atom bonded to the acidic center also influence the ρ value. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The substituent effect of electron‐withdrawing groups on electron affinity and gas‐phase basicity has been investigated for substituted propargyl radicals and their corresponding anions. It is shown that when a hydrogen of the α‐CH2 group or acetylenic CH in the propargyl system is substituted by an electron‐withdrawing substituent, electron affinity increases, whereas gas‐phase basicity decreases. The calculated electron affinities are 0.95 eV (CH?C? CH2?), 1.15 eV (CH?C? CHF?), 1.38 eV (CH?C? CHCl?), 1.48 eV (CH?C? CHBr?) for the isomers with terminal CH and 1.66 eV (CF?C? CH2?), 1.70 eV (CCl?C? CH2?), 1.86 eV (CBr?C? CH2?) for the isomers with terminal CX at B3LYP level. The calculated gas‐phase basicities for their anions are 378.4 kcal/mol (CH?C? CH2:?), 371.6 kcal/mol (CH?C? CHF:?), 365.1 kcal/mol (CH?C? CHCl:?), 363.5 kcal/mol (CH?C? CHBr:?) for the isomers with terminal CH and 362.6 kcal/mol (CF?C? CH2:?), 360.4 kcal/mol (CCl?C? CH2:?), 356.3 kcal/mol (CBr?C? CH2:?) for the isomers with terminal CX at B3LYP level. It is concluded that the larger the magnitude of electron‐withdrawing, the greater is the electron affinity of radical and the smaller is the gas‐phase basicity of its anion. This tendency of the electron affinities and gas‐phase bacisities is greater in isomers with the terminal CX than isomers with the terminal CH. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this work, 13 compounds of 4,4′‐disubstituted stilbenes and 5 compounds of 3‐methyl‐4′‐substituted stilbenes were prepared and their UV spectra were measured. A new substituent effect constant, namely excited‐state substituent constant, was proposed, which was calculated directly from the UV absorption energy data of substituted benzenes. The investigation result shows that the proposed constant is different from the existing polar substituent constants and radical substituent constants in nature. The availability of the new constant was confirmed by the good correlations with the UV absorption energy of four kinds of compounds, 1,4‐disubstituted benzenes, 4,4′‐disubstituted stilbenes, substituted ethenes, and m‐Y‐substituted aromatic compounds. It is expected that the excited‐state substituent constant can be applied in QSPR study on organic compounds at the excited state. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

For studying the substituent effects on the νmax of substituted benzylideneanilines (XBAYs) systematically, 12 samples of 3,3′‐disubstituted XBAYs and 52 samples of multi‐substituted XBAYs were synthesized, and the substituent effects on their νmax were investigated in this paper. A modified regression equation quantifying the νmax of 4,4′/4,3′/3,4′/3,3′‐disubstituted and multi‐substituted XBAYs (shown as Eq. 3 ) was obtained. The results showed that the substituent effects on the νmax of 3,3′‐substituted and multi‐substituted XBAYs became more complicated. In Eq. 3 , the contributions of the meta‐parameters to the νmax of XBAYs were different from those of the corresponding para‐parameters. For the substituent cross‐interaction effects, there is no difference whatever the substituents are at meta‐position or para‐position. Compared with Eq. 1 , Eq. 3 obtained in this paper has a wider application and more accuracy in quantifying the νmax of substituted XBAYs. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A quantitative study on local aromaticity has been performed on a series of mono‐ and di‐substituted biheterocycles (quinoline, isoquinoline, quinoxaline, quinazoline). Three electronically based indices (PDI, ATI, and FLU) have been employed to investigate the substituent effect on the π‐electron delocalization in both heterocycle and benzenoid rings. Three typical substituents (Cl, OCH3, and CN) with different inductive and resonance power have been selected. Generally, substituent causes a reduction in aromaticity irrespective of whether it is electron attracting or electron donating. It is shown that the maximum aromaticity exhibits a similar trend of Cl > CN > OCH3 for all the studied rings. Moreover, it is found that the substituent situation with respect to the heteroatom has a significant influence on the aromaticity. It results from our study that in di‐substituted derivatives, irrespective of whether the two substituents form a meta or para isomer, they preferably choose the position which leads to the maximum aromaticity character. Using Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Spectrometry, we have determined the gas‐phase acidities (GA) of 1‐phenylethanol, diphenylmethanol and triphenylmethanol. Combining these results with the available experimental data for other alcohols, we obtained three sets of experimental acidities for the families (CH3)nC–OH, (CF3)nC–OH and PhnC–OH (n = 1–3) as well for some other α‐substituted alcohols combining these substituents. GA values for these alcohols were studied at the B3LYP/6‐311 + G(d,p), MP2/6‐311 + G(d,p), G3(MP2) and G3 levels. This allowed the prediction of a number of GA values for other alcohols. We also developed an empirical method for the estimation of these magnitudes and used it to predict the cases wherein simple additivity of substituent effects would break down. Comparison of 13C NMR of C = N bond chemical shifts δC(C = N) in substituted N‐(phenyl‐ethylene)‐anilines XArC(Me) = NArY (XPEAYs) with that in substituted N‐(benzylidene)‐anilines XArCH = NArY (XBAYs) was carried out. The δC(C = N) of 61 samples of XPEAYs were measured, and the substituent effect on their δC(C = N) were investigated. The results show the factors affecting the δC(C = N) of XPEAYs are quite different from that of XBAYs. A penta‐parameter correlation equation was obtained for the 61 compounds, which has correlation coefficient 0.9922 and standard error 0.12 ppm. The result indicates that, in XPEAYs, the inductive effects of substituents X and Y are major factors affecting the δC(C = N), while the conjugative effect of them have very little effect on the δC(C = N) and can be ignored. The substituent‐specific cross‐interaction effects between X and Y and between Me of C = N bond and substituent Y are important factors affecting the δC(C = N). Also, the excited‐state substituent parameter of substitute Y has certain contribution to the δC(C = N). Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Density functional theory computations at B3LYP and X3LYP levels were performed for ring openings of substituted gem‐dibromospiropentanes (R = ―H, ―Cl, ―Br, ―CH3, ―SiH3, ―OH, ―OCH3, ―CF3, ―BF2, and ―SH) to related allenes. The conversion of spiropentanoids 5a , 5b , 5c , 5d , 5e , 5f , 5g , 5h , 5i , 5j to the corresponding allenes 7a , 7b , 7c , 7d , 7e , 7f , 7g , 7h , 7i , 7j can proceed in both concerted and stepwise mechanism except for R = ―H. Both ring‐opening mechanisms have similar activation energy barriers to open the spiropentanylidene ring and generate the structure of allene at all theoretical levels used herein. Generally the π electron‐donating group (―OH or ―SH) decreases the activation barrier for the follow‐up reaction of 1‐bromo‐1‐lithiospiropentanoid and free spiropentanylidene. Hence, both bearing electron‐donating substituents are more reactive than those with electron‐withdrawing group, and the first one to open the ring to the LiBr–allene complex does so more readily than the second. The sEDA index used to measure sigma‐electron excess/deficiency of the cyclopropylidene ring is mutually correlated for the studied systems. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The gas‐phase acidity (GA) values were determined for a number of perfluoroalkyl‐substituted sulfonylimides by measuring proton‐transfer equilibria using a Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT‐ICR) mass spectrometer. The GA scale below 286.5 kcal mol?1 for (CF3SO2)2NH was extended and partially revised. The GA value of (C4F9SO2)2NH which is currently the strongest acid was revised from 284.1 to 278.6 kcal mol?1. The effect of fluorine atoms on the acidity of perfluoroalkyl‐substituted sulfonylimides was described with the following model where N(α), N(β), N(γ), and N(δ) are the numbers of fluorine atoms at α, β, γ, and δ position in RfSO2 (Rf = perfluoroalkyl group), respectively. This correlation indicates that the electron‐withdrawing ability of the RfSO2 group can be described in terms of the number of fluorine atoms in the perfluoroalkyl group corrected by taking into account their positions. This paper reports the first complete theoretical study of substituent effects on the mechanism of the Baeyer– Villiger (BV) reaction in non‐polar solvents taking into account the lowest‐energy mechanism that has been proposed for this rearrangement which is non‐ionic and fully concerted. The BV reaction of p‐substituted acetophenones, p‐XC6H4COCH3 (X = NO2, CN, H, CH3, OCH3), with performic (PFA) and trifluoroperacetic (TFPAA) acids, catalyzed by formic (FA) and trifluoroacetic (TFAA) acids, respectively, using the MPWB1K functional and the 6‐311G(d,p) and 6‐311++G(d,p) basis sets, are studied. Solvent effects are taken into account by means of the PCM continuum model using dichloromethane as solvent. Electron‐donating substituents on the aryl group have a relatively small activation effect on the first step, but a pronounced activation effect on the second to the point of being able to change the rate‐determining step (RDS) of the reaction, as observed in the case of p‐methoxyacetophenone with TFPAA acids. After analyzing the changes in Gibbs free energy of activation, geometrical parameters, and charge distributions of the transition states (TSs), explanations are provided for the two distinct effects that substituents on the ketone have on the kinetics of the addition and migration steps of the BV oxidation. The effect of the acid/peracid pair used is also discussed. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The characterization of X‐ray diffraction, X‐ray fluorescence, and field emission scanning electron microscope were used to confirm the successful preparation of Al‐substituted goethite with different Al content. The micro‐Raman spectroscopy was utilized to investigate the effect of Al content on the goethite lattice. The results show that all the feature bands of goethite shifted to high wavenumbers after the occurrence of Al substitution for Fe in the structure of goethite. The shift of wavenumber shows a good linear relationship as a function of increasing Al content especially for the band at 299 cm−1 (R2 = 0.9992). The in situ Raman spectroscopy of thermally treated goethite indicated that the Al substitution not only hinders the transformation of goethite, but also retarded the crystallization of thermally formed hematite. All the results indicated that Raman spectrum displayed an excellent performance in characterizing Al‐substituted goethite, which implied the promising application in other substituted metal oxides or hydroxides. Long‐range electronic substituent effects were targeted using the substituent dependence of δC(C═N), and specific cross‐interactions were explored extendedly. A wide set of N‐(4‐X–benzylidene)‐4‐(4‐Y–styryl) anilines, p‐X–C6H4CH═NC6H4CH═CHC6H4p‐Y (X = NMe2, OMe, Me, H, Cl, F, CN, or NO2; Y = NMe2, OMe, Me, H, Cl, or CN) were prepared for this study, and their 13C NMR chemical shifts δC(C═N) of C═N bonds were measured. The results show that both the inductive and resonance effects of the substituents Y on the δC(C═N) of p‐X–C6H4CH═NC6H4CH═CHC6H4p‐Y are less than those of the substituents Y in p‐X–C6H4CH═NC6H4p‐Y. Moreover, the sensitivity of the electronic character of the C═N function to electron donation/electron withdrawal by the substituent X or Y attenuates as the length of the conjugated chain is elongated. It was confirmed that the substituent cross‐interaction is an important factor influencing δC(C═N), not only when both X and Y are varied but also when either X or Y is fixed. The long‐range transmission of the specific cross‐interaction effects on δC(C═N) decreases with increasing conjugated distance between X and Y. The results of this study suggest that there is a long‐range transmission of the substituent effects in p‐X–C6H4CH═NC6H4CH═CHC6H4p‐Y. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Three parameters, , and , are developed to express the substituent effect and the effect of the parent molecular structure of p‐disubstituted compounds XPh(CH?CHPh)nY (n = 0, 1, 2). The investigated result shows a good correlation between the UV absorption wavenumbers (υmax) and the three parameters for a diverse set of title compounds, and the correlation equation can be used to predict the UV absorption energy of compounds with the mentioned structure. This approach provides a new insight for the quantitative structure‐property relationship (QSPR) correlation of the UV absorption energy of p‐disubstituted homologues. The 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) chemical shifts δc of bridge group carbons (C‐β, C‐α, and C═N) were measured in this work for a wide set of substituted cinnamyl anilines p‐XC6H4CH═CHCH═NC6H4Y‐p (X = NO2, Cl, H, Me, MeO, or NMe2; Y = NO2, CN, CO2Et, Cl, F, H, Me, MeO, or NMe2) and were used to study the substituent effect. In the study on 13C NMR chemical shifts of the titled compounds with single substituent changed, for every bridge carbon δc, the effect of cinnamyl substituent X is opposite to that of aniline substituent Y. That is, the action of the same substituent on different aromatic rings is different from the 13C NMR chemical shifts, and for C‐β, C‐α, and C═N, the choice of correlation equation depends on the ratio ρF(Y)/ρR(Y). When the ratio ρF(Y)/ρR(Y) is close to 1, the chemical shifts of bridge carbons can be well correlated with the single‐parameter equation; otherwise, it is better to adopt the dual‐parameter equation for correlation, and the further the values of ρF(Y)/ρR(Y) stray from 1, the more suitable the corresponding δc values are to be correlated with the dual‐parameter equation. In the study on δc of model compounds with simultaneous variations of substituents X and Y, for δc(C═N), a multi‐parameter correlation equation is obtained, and the substituent cross‐interaction item Δσ2 is suitable to scale the interaction between substituents; however, for δc(C‐α and C‐β), the substituent cross‐interaction item Δσ2 is perhaps too small to be observed. The multi‐parameter correlation equations can be recommended to predict well the corresponding δc values of disubstituted cinnamyl anilines. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A series of α,ω‐di‐substituted phenyl polyenes, p‐X–Ph(CH = CH)nPh–p‐Y (n = 1, 2, or 3) were synthesized, and their ultraviolet (UV) absorption maximum wavelength were determined. The correlation between molecular structure and the maximum wavelength energy (wavenumber/cm?1) was carried out. The results show that the maximum wavelength energy of the title compounds is mainly affected by both substituent excited‐state parameters and maximum wavelength energy of the parent molecule. However, the two influence factors are not independent, and the action of substituent is governed by the parent molecular absorption energy. In the case of the compounds containing NO2 or NH2 groups, the influence of interaction of polarity parameters on the maximum wavelength energy must also be considered. In addition, the exploration was also made for the quantifying correlation of UV absorption maximum wavelength energy with the conjugated polarizability potential CPP replacing the parent molecular absorption energy. And the results indicate that the equation with CPP parameters is more accurate and convenient. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

By the B3P86/6‐311G(3d,2p) method, remote substituent effects on trans‐YCH?CHCH2F were investigated by examining their conformational stabilities, molecular geometries, and stereoelectronic interactions in this paper. The cis conformer is favored for Y?H, Cl, Me, Vinyl, CF3, CN, CHO, and NO2, whereas the gauche is favored for Y?OMe, OH. A correlation of ΔH with the substituent constants σ+(Y) shows that the increasing electron‐withdrawing ability of the substituent Y increases the relative stability of the cis conformer. It was found that the substituent effect on the molecule stabilization energies (relative to CH2?CHCH2F) is more significant in the gauche conformers than in the cis conformers. In agreement, molecular structures of the gauche conformers were also observed to vary more significantly with the substitution than those of the cis conformers. By the second‐order perturbation energy (E(2)) in NBO analysis, it was found that the total C2–C3 vicinal hyperconjugation is determinant in the enthalpy difference and consequently controls the conformational stability. Further analysis shows that the substituent effect on the C2–C3 vicinal hyperconjugations is much higher in the gauche conformers than in the cis conformers. The highly sensitive πC?C→σ*C? F interaction to the substitution in the gauche conformers, is the leading factor in variation of molecular stability and geometry. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this study, activation energies in the Diels–Alder reactions of a series of substituted butadienes, cyclopentadienes, furans and pyroles with maleic anhydride were calculated by the M06‐2X/6‐31G(d) method. The substituent effects on the reactivity and the endo–exo selectivity have been examined. The strength of reactivity effect has an order of pyroles > furans > cyclopentadienes > butadienes, which is highly correlated with the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy, the electronic chemical potential and the electrophilicity of parent diene but relatively less correlated with the highest occupied molecular orbital energy and chemical hardness. The trend that an increase of necleophilicity caused by an electron‐donating group on the diene favors the endo TS is effective with C2 substitution. With C1 substitution, the trend is ambiguous or even opposite. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
