We describe the preparation of a dendrimer that is solution‐processible and contains 2‐ethylhexyloxy surface groups, biphenyl‐based dendrons, and a fac‐tris[2‐(2,4‐difluorophenyl)pyridyl]iridium(III ) core. The homoleptic complex is highly luminescent and the color of emission is similar to the heteroleptic iridium(III ) complex, bis[2‐(2,4‐difluorophenyl)pyridyl]picolinate iridium(III ) (FIrpic). To avoid the change in emission color that would arise from attaching a conjugated dendron to the ligand, the conjugation between the dendron and the ligand is decoupled by separating them with an ethane linkage. Bilayer devices containing a light‐emitting layer comprised of a 30 wt.‐% blend of the dendrimer in 1,3‐bis(N‐carbazolyl)benzene (mCP) and a 1,3,5‐tris(2‐N‐phenylbenzimidazolyl)benzene electron‐transport layer have external quantum and power efficiencies, respectively, of 10.4 % and 11 lm W–1 at 100 cd m–2 and 6.4 V. These efficiencies are higher than those reported for more complex device structures prepared via evaporation that contain FIrpic blended with mCP as the emitting layer, showing the advantage of using a dendritic structure to control processing and intermolecular interactions. The external quantum efficiency of 10.4 % corresponds to the maximum achievable efficiency based on the photoluminescence quantum yield of the emissive film and the standard out‐coupling of light from the device.  相似文献

Ir(III) metal complexes with formula [(nazo)2Ir(Fppz)] ( 1 ), [(nazo)2Ir(Bppz)] ( 2 ), and [(nazo)2Ir(Fptz)] ( 3 ) [(nazo)H = 4‐phenyl quinazoline, (Fppz)H = 3‐trifluoromethyl‐5‐(2‐pyridyl) pyrazole, (Bppz)H = 3‐t‐butyl‐5‐(2‐pyridyl) pyrazole, and (Fptz)H = 3‐trifluoromethyl‐5‐(2‐pyridyl) triazole] were synthesized, among which the exact configuration of 1 was confirmed using single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. These complexes exhibited bright red phosphorescence with relatively short lifetimes of 0.4–1.05 μs in both solution and the solid‐state at room temperature. Non‐doped organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) were fabricated using complexes 1 and 2 in the absence of a host matrix. Saturated red electroluminescence was observed at λmax = 626 nm (host‐emitter complex 1 ) and 652 nm (host‐emitter complex 2 ), which corresponds to coordinates (0.66,0.34) and (0.69,0.31), respectively, on the 1931 Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity diagram. The non‐doped devices employing complex 1 showed electroluminance as high as 5780 cd m–2, an external quantum efficiency of 5.5 % at 8 V, and a current density of 20 mA cm–2. The short phosphorescence lifetime of 1 in the solid state, coupled with its modest π–π stacking interactions, appear to be the determining factors for its unusual success as a non‐doped host‐emitter.  相似文献

Green‐emitting iridium dendrimers with rigid hole‐transporting carbazole dendrons are designed, synthesized, and investigated. With second‐generation dendrons, the photoluminescence quantum yield of the dendrimers is up to 87 % in solution and 45 % in a film. High‐quality films of the dendrimers are fabricated by spin‐coating, producing highly efficient, non‐doped electrophosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). With a device structure of indium tin oxide/poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonic acid)/neat dendrimer/1,3,5‐tris(2‐N‐phenylbenzimidazolyl)benzene/LiF/Al, a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 10.3 % and a maximum luminous efficiency of 34.7 cd A–1 are realized. By doping the dendrimers into a carbazole‐based host, the maximum EQE can be further increased to 16.6 %. The integration of rigid hole‐transporting dendrons and phosphorescent complexes provides a new route to design highly efficient solution‐processable dendrimers for OLED applications.  相似文献

Cationic Au4Ag2 heterohexanuclear aromatic acetylides cluster complexes supported by bis(2‐diphenylphosphinoethyl)phenylphosphine (dpep) are prepared. The Au4Ag2 cluster structure originating from the combination of one anionic [Au(C≡CR)2]? with one cationic [Au3Ag2(dpep)2(C≡CR)2]3+ through the formation of Ag?acetylide η2‐bonds is highly stabilized by Au–Ag and Au–Au contacts. The Au4Ag2 alkynyl cluster complexes are moderately phosphorescent in the fluid CH2Cl2 solution, but exhibit highly intense phosphorescent emission in solid state and film. As revealed by theoretical computational studies, the phosphorescence is ascribable to significant 3[π (aromatic acetylide) → s/p (Au)] 3LMCT parentage with a noticeable Au4Ag2 cluster centered 3[d → s/p] triplet state. Taking advantage of mCP and OXD‐7 as a mixed host with 20 wt% dopant of phosphorescent Au4Ag2 cluster complex in the emitting layer, solution‐processed organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) exhibit highly efficient electrophosphorescence with the maximum current, power, and external quantum efficiencies of 24.1 cd A?1, 11.6 lm W?1, and 7.0%, respectively. Introducing copper(I) thiocyanate (CuSCN) as a hole‐transporting layer onto the PEDOT:PSS hole‐injecting layer through the orthogonal solution process induces an obvious improvement of the device performance with lower turn‐on voltage and higher electroluminescent efficiency.  相似文献

A series of orange‐red to red phosphorescent heteroleptic CuI complexes (the first ligand: 2,2′‐biquinoline (bq), 4,4′‐diphenyl‐2,2′‐biquinoline (dpbq) or 3,3′‐methylen‐4,4′‐diphenyl‐2,2′‐biquinoline (mdpbq); the second ligand: triphenylphosphine or bis[2‐(diphenylphosphino)phenyl]ether (DPEphos)) have been synthesized and fully characterized. With highly rigid bulky biquinoline‐type ligands, complexes [Cu(mdpbq)(PPh3)2](BF4) and [Cu(mdpbq)(DPEphos)](BF4) emit efficiently in 20 wt % PMMA films with photoluminescence quantum yield of 0.56 and 0.43 and emission maximum of 606 nm and 617 nm, respectively. By doping these complexes in poly(vinyl carbazole) (PVK) or N‐(4‐(carbazol‐9‐yl)phenyl)‐3,6‐bis(carbazol‐9‐yl) carbazole (TCCz), phosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) were fabricated with various device structures. The complex [Cu(mdpbq)(DPEphos)](BF4) exhibits the best device performance. With the device structure of ITO/PEDOT/TCCz:[Cu(mdpbq)(DPEphos)](BF4) (15 wt %)/TPBI/LiF/Al (III), a current efficiency up to 6.4 cd A–1 with the Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.61, 0.39) has been realized. To our best knowledge, this is the first report of efficient mononuclear CuI complexes with red emission.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of two new phosphorescent cationic iridium(III) cyclometalated diimine complexes with formula [Ir( L )2(N‐N)]+(PF6) ( HL = (9,9‐diethyl‐7‐pyridinylfluoren‐2‐yl)diphenylamine); N‐N = 4,4′‐dimethyl‐2,2′‐bipyridine ( 1 ), 4,7‐dimethyl‐1,10‐phenanthroline ( 2 )) are reported. Both complexes are coordinated by cyclometalated ligands consisting of hole‐transporting diphenylamino (DPA)‐ and fluorene‐based 2‐phenylpyridine moieties. Structural information on these heteroleptic complexes has been obtained by using an X‐ray diffraction study of complex 2 . Complexes 1 and 2 are morphologically and thermally stable ionic solids and are good yellow phosphors at room temperature with relatively short lifetimes in both solution and solid phases. These robust iridium complexes can be thermally vacuum‐sublimed and used as phosphorescent dyes for the fabrication of high‐efficiency organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). These devices doped with 5 wt % 1 can produce efficient electrophosphorescence with a maximum brightness of up to 15 610 cd m–2 and a peak external quantum efficiency of ca. 7 % photons per electron that corresponds to a luminance efficiency of ca. 20 cd A–1 and a power efficiency of ca. 19 lm W–1. These results show that charged iridium(III) materials are useful alternative electrophosphors for use in evaporated devices in order to realize highly efficient doped OLEDs.  相似文献

We present a novel platinum porphyrin based phosphorescent dendrimer for use as a triplet harvesting dopant in organic light‐emitting diodes. Two types of dendritic host materials are used. Through the choice of a common branching architecture around the emissive chromophore unit of both guest and host materials, we are able to achieve excellent miscibility. The relative contribution of guest to host emission is found to depend strongly on the energy level offsets of the two blend materials, indicating strong trapping processes. Under pulsed operation, we observe a striking dependence of the emission spectrum on pulse period, independent of the host material used. This spectral modification is attributed to the quenching of triplet excitations at high excitation densities. We find excellent agreement between our measured data and a model based on bimolecular recombination.  相似文献

A series of 1‐phenylisoquinoline derivatives encapsulated with peripheral arylamines as dendrons are synthesized by using the Ullmann reaction and palladium‐catalyzed aromatic carbon–carbon Suzuki‐coupling reactions. Red‐emitting dendritic iridium complexes (called G1‐1 , G1‐2 , and G2 ) are synthesized using the following derivatives: N,N‐diphenyl‐3′‐isoquinolin‐4‐biphenylaniline, N,N‐di(9,9‐dimethylfluorenyl‐3′‐isoquinolin‐4‐biphenylaniline, N,N‐di(4′‐di(2′‐(9′,9′‐dimethylfluorenyl)amine)biphenyl‐3′‐isoquinolin‐4‐biphenylaniline as the first ligands and 5‐methyl‐3‐(pyridin‐2′‐yl)‐1H1,2,4‐triazole as an ancillary ligand. The obtained dendrimers are soluble in common organic solvents, and uniform thin films can be spin‐coated from such solutions. Devices fabricated from dendritic iridium complexes G1‐2 and G2 with a small molecule host are fabricated by spin‐coating from chloroform solution in different device configurations. G1‐2 and G2 show similar device performances with maximum external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) of 12.8 % and 11.8 % (photons/electron) and luminous efficiency of 9.2 cd A–1 and 8.5 cd A–1 at 0.1 mA cm–2, respectively. Devices based on polymer host poly(9,9‐dioctylfluorene)(PFO) (30 % PBD (2‐(4‐biphenyl)‐5‐(4‐tert‐butylphenyl‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole)) show a slightly higher efficiency for G1‐2 , with a maximum EQE of 13.9 % at a much higher current density of 6.4 mA cm–2 and luminance of 601 cd m–2.  相似文献

The synthesis, photophysics, cyclic voltammetry, and highly efficient blue electroluminescence of a series of four new n‐type conjugated oligomers, 6,6′‐bis(2,4‐diphenylquinoline) (B1PPQ), 6,6′‐bis(2‐(4‐tert‐butylphenyl)‐4‐phenylquinoline) (BtBPQ), 6,6′‐bis(2‐p‐biphenyl)‐4‐phenylquinoline) (B2PPQ), and 6,6′‐bis((3,5‐diphenylbenzene)‐4‐phenylquinoline) (BDBPQ) is reported. The oligoquinolines have high glass‐transition temperatures (Tg ≥ 133 °C), reversible electrochemical reduction, and high electron affinities (2.68–2.81 eV). They emit blue photoluminescence with 0.73–0.94 quantum yields and 1.06–1.42 ns lifetimes in chloroform solutions. High‐performance organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) with excellent blue chromaticity coordinates are achieved from all the oligoquinolines. OLEDs based on B2PPQ as the blue emitter give the best performance with a high brightness (19 740 cd m–2 at 8.0 V), high efficiency (7.12 cd A–1 and 6.56 % external quantum efficiency at 1175 cd m–2), and excellent blue color purity as judged by the Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates (x = 0.15,y = 0.16). These results represent the best efficiency of blue OLEDs from neat fluorescent organic emitters reported to date. These results demonstrate the potential of oligoquinolines as emitters and electron‐transport materials for developing high‐performance blue OLEDs.  相似文献

A novel red phosphorescent iridium complex containing a carbazole‐functionalized β‐diketonate, Ir(DBQ)2(CBDK) (bis(dibenzo[f,h]quinoxalinato‐N,C2) iridium (1‐(carbazol‐9‐yl)‐5,5‐dimethylhexane‐2,4‐diketonate)) is designed, synthesized, and characterized. The electrophosphorescence properties of a nondoped device using the title complex as an emitter with a device configuration of indium tin oxide (ITO)/N,N′‐diphenyl‐N,N′‐bis(1‐naphthyl)‐1,1′‐diphenyl‐4,4′‐diamine (NPB; 20 nm)/iridium complex (20 nm)/2,9‐dimethyl‐4,7‐diphenyl‐1,10‐phenanthroline (BCP; 5 nm)/tris(8‐hydroxyquinoline) (AlQ; 30 nm)/Mg0.9Ag0.1 (200 nm)/Ag (80 nm) are examined. The results show that the nondoped device achieves a maximum lumen efficiency as high as 3.49 lm W–1. To understand this excellent result observed, two reference complexes Ir(DBQ)2(acac), where acac is the acetyl acetonate anion, and Ir(DBQ)2(FBDK), [bis(dibenzo[f,h]quinoxalinato‐N,C2) iridium (1‐(9‐methyl‐fluoren‐9‐yl)‐6,6‐dimethylheptane‐3,5‐diketonate)], have also been synthesized, and as emitters they were examined under the same device configuration. The maximum lumen efficiency of the former compound is found to be 0.26 lm W–1 while that for the latter is 0.37 lm W–1, suggesting that the excellent performance of Ir(DBQ)2(CBDK) can be attributed mainly to an improved hole‐transporting property that benefits the exciton transport. In addition, a bulky diketonate group separates the emitter centers from each other, which is also important for organic light‐emitting diodes.  相似文献

A new series of blue‐light‐emitting fluorene derivatives have been synthesized and characterized. The fluorene derivatives have high fluorescence yields, good thermal stability, and high glass‐transition temperatures in the range 145–193 °C. Organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) fabricated using the fluorene derivatives as the host emitter show high efficiency (up to 5.3 cd A–1 and 3.0 lm W–1) and bright blue‐light emission (Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of x = 0.16, y = 0.22). The performance of the non‐doped fluorene‐based devices is among the best fluorescent blue‐light‐emitting OLEDs. The good performance of the present blue OLEDs is considered to derive from: 1) appropriate energy levels of the fluorene derivatives for good carrier injection; 2) good carrier‐transporting properties; and 3) high fluorescence efficiency of the fluorene derivatives. These merits are discussed in terms of the molecular structures.  相似文献

Efficient blue‐, green‐, and red‐light‐emitting organic diodes are fabricated using binuclear platinum complexes as phosphorescent dopants. The series of complexes used here have pyrazolate bridging ligands and the general formula CNPt(μ‐pz)2PtCN (where CN = 2‐(4′,6′‐difluorophenyl)pyridinato‐N,C2′, pz = pyrazole ( 1 ), 3‐methyl‐5‐tert‐butylpyrazole ( 2 ), and 3,5‐bis(tert‐butyl)pyrazole ( 3 )). The Pt–Pt distance in the complexes, which decreases in the order 1 > 2 > 3 , solely determines the electroluminescence color of the organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). Blue OLEDs fabricated using 8 % 1 doped into a 3,5‐bis(N‐carbazolyl)benzene (mCP) host have a quantum efficiency of 4.3 % at 120 Cd m–2, a brightness of 3900 Cd m–2 at 12 V, and Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.11, 0.24). Green and red OLEDs fabricated with 2 and 3 , respectively, also give high quantum efficiencies (~ 6.7 %), with CIE coordinates of (0.31, 0.63) and (0.59, 0.46), respectively. The current‐density–voltage characteristics of devices made using dopants 2 and 3 indicate that hole trapping is enhanced by short Pt–Pt distances (< 3.1 Å). Blue electrophosphorescence is achieved by taking advantage of the binuclear molecular geometry in order to suppress dopant intermolecular interactions. No evidence of low‐energy emission from aggregate states is observed in OLEDs made with 50 % 1 doped into mCP. OLEDs made using 100 % 1 as an emissive layer display red luminescence, which is believed to originate from distorted complexes with compressed Pt–Pt separations located in defect sites within the neat film. White OLEDs are fabricated using 1 and 3 in three different device architectures, either with one or two dopants in dual emissive layers or both dopants in a single emissive layer. All the white OLEDs have high quantum efficiency (~ 5 %) and brightness (~ 600 Cd m–2 at 10 V).  相似文献

The first full‐color polymer organic light‐emitting diode (OLED) display is reported, fabricated by a direct photolithography process, that is, a process that allows direct structuring of the electroluminescent layer of the OLED by exposure to UV light. The required photosensitivity is introduced by attaching oxetane side groups to the backbone of red‐, green‐, and blue‐light‐emitting polymers. This allows for the use of photolithography to selectively crosslink thin films of these polymers. Hence the solution‐based process requires neither an additional etching step, as is the case for conventional photoresist lithography, nor does it rely on the use of prestructured substrates, which are required if ink‐jet printing is used to pixilate the emissive layer. The process allows for low‐cost display fabrication without sacrificing resolution: Structures with features in the range of 2 μm are obtained by patterning the emitting polymers via UV illumination through an ultrafine shadow mask. Compared to state‐of‐the‐art fluorescent OLEDs, the display prototype (pixel size 200 μm × 600 μm) presented here shows very good efficiency as well as good color saturation for all three colors. The application in solid‐state lighting is also possible: Pure white light [Commision Internationale de l'Éclairage (CIE) values of 0.33, 0.33 and color rendering index (CRI) of 76] is obtained at an efficiency of 5 cd A–1 by mixing the three colors in the appropriate ratio. For further enhancement of the device efficiency, an additional hole‐transport layer (HTL), which is also photo‐crosslinkable and therefore suitable to fabricate multilayer devices from solution, is embedded between the anode and the electroluminescent layer.  相似文献

Phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes (PHOLEDs) have undergone tremendous growth over the past two decades. Indeed, they are already prevalent in the form of mobile displays, and are expected to be used in large‐area flat panels recently. To become a viable technology for next generation solid‐state light source however, PHOLEDs face the challenge of achieving concurrently a high color rendering index (CRI) and a high efficiency at high luminance. To improve the CRI of a standard three color white PHOLED, one can use a greenish‐yellow emitter to replace the green emitter such that the gap in emission wavelength between standard green and red emitters is eliminated. However, there are relatively few studies on greenish‐yellow emitters for PHOLEDs, and as a result, the performance of greenish‐yellow PHOLEDs is significantly inferior to those emitting in the three primary colors, which are driven strongly by the display industry. Herein, a newly synthesized greenish‐yellow emitter is synthesized and a novel device concept is introduced featuring interzone exciton transfer to considerably enhance the device efficiency. In particular, high external quantum efficiencies (current efficiencies) of 21.5% (77.4 cd/A) and 20.2% (72.8 cd/A) at a luminance of 1000 cd/m2 and 5000 cd/m2, respectively, have been achieved. These efficiencies are the highest reported to date for greenish‐yellow emitting PHOLEDs. A model for this unique design is also proposed. This design could potentially be applied to enhance the efficiency of even longer wavelength yellow and red emitters, thereby paving the way for a new avenue of tandem white PHOLEDs for solid‐state lighting.  相似文献

The operation and efficiencies of molecular or polymer organic light‐emitting diodes depend on the nature of the excited species that are formed. The lowest singlet and triplet excitons display different characteristics that impact on the quantum yields achievable in the devices. Here, by performing correlated quantum‐chemical calculations that account for both the electronic couplings and energetics of the charge‐recombination process from a pair of positive and negative polarons into singlet and triplet excitons, we show that the formation rates for singlet over triplet excitons vary with chain length and favor singlet excitons in longer chains. Thus, in polymer devices, the resulting singlet/triplet fraction can significantly exceed the spin‐statistical limit.  相似文献

Light‐emitting diodes exhibiting efficient pure‐white‐light electroluminescence have been successfully developed by using a single polymer: polyfluorene derivatives with 1,8‐naphthalimide chromophores chemically doped onto the polyfluorene backbones. By adjusting the emission wavelength of the 1,8‐naphthalimide components and optimizing the relative content of 1,8‐naphthalimide derivatives in the resulting polymers, white‐light electroluminescence from a single polymer, as opposed to a polymer blend, has been obtained in a device with a configuration of indium tin oxide/poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene)(50 nm)/polymer(80 nm)/Ca(10 nm)/Al(100 nm). The device exhibits Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage coordinates of (0.32,0.36), a maximum brightness of 11 900 cd m–2, a current efficiency of 3.8 cd A–1, a power efficiency of 2.0 lm W–1, an external quantum efficiency of 1.50 %, and quite stable color coordinates at different driving voltages, even at high luminances of over 5000 cd m–2.  相似文献

A group of dendrimers with oligo‐carbazole dendrons appended at 4,4′‐ positions of biphenyl core are synthesized for use as host materials for solution‐processible phosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes (PHOLEDs). In comparison with the traditional small molecular host 4,4′‐N,N′‐dicarbazolebiphenyl (CBP), the dendritic conformation affords these materials extra merits including amorphous nature with extremely high glass transition temperatures (ca. 376 °C) and solution‐processibility, but inherent the identical triplet energies (2.60–2.62 eV). In comparison with the widely‐used polymeric host polyvinylcarbazole (PVK), these dendrimers possess much higher HOMO levels (–5.61 to –5.42 eV) that facilitate efficient hole injection and are favorable for high power efficiency in OLEDs. The agreeable properties and the solution‐processibility of these dendrimers makes it possible to fabricate highly efficient PHOLEDs by spin coating with the dendimers as phosphorescent hosts. The green PHOLED containing Ir(ppy)3 (Hppy = 2‐phenyl‐pyridine) dopant exhibits high peak efficiencies of 38.71 cd A?1 and 15.69 lm W?1, which far exceed those of the control device with the PVK host (27.70 cd A?1 and 9.6 lm W?1) and are among the best results for solution‐processed green PHOLEDs ever reported. The versatility of these dendrimer hosts can be spread to orange PHOLEDs and high efficiencies of 32.22 cd A?1 and 20.23 lm W?1 are obtained, among the best ever reported for solution‐processed orange PHOLEDs.  相似文献

Bipolar compounds (referred to in general as btza ) containing a benzo[1,2,5]thiadiazole core and peripheral diarylamines and/or 4‐tert‐butylphenyl moieties have been synthesized via palladium‐catalyzed cross‐coupling reactions of 4,7‐dibromobenzo[1,2,5]thiadiazole with appropriate stannyl compounds. These compounds are fluorescent and the emission color ranges from green to red. The fluorescence of the compounds originates from a charge‐transfer process and exhibits solvatochromism. These red‐light‐emitting materials are amorphous and devices of different configurations were fabricated: I) ITO/ btza /TPBI/Mg:Ag; II) ITO/ btza /Alq3/Mg:Ag; III) ITO/ btza /Mg:Ag (where ITO = indium tin oxide, TPBI = 1,3,5‐tris(N‐phenylbezimidazol‐2‐yl)benzene, and Alq3 = tris(8‐hydroxyquinoline)aluminum). The performance of some of the red‐light‐emitting devices appears to be very promising.  相似文献
