Graphite oxide/Al13 composites were prepared using graphite oxide and commercial solution of Chlorhydrol®. Although surfactant was used to disperse of graphene-like layers, they were restacked together upon addition of Al13 Keggin polycations. The crust of inorganic phase was deposited on the outer surface of GO platelets. The resulting materials were used as adsorbents of ammonia in dry or wet conditions either in an as received form or prehumidified for 2 h before the breakthrough test. It was shown that water in the system decreases the amount adsorbed, likely as a result of the competition with ammonia for adsorption centers. The highest and strongest adsorption was found in the dry conditions where interlayer space was partially available and the acidic centers of an inorganic phase played an enhancing role in the retention of ammonia.  相似文献

The adsorption of ammonia on HKUST-1 (a metal-organic framework, MOF) and HKUST-1/graphite oxide (GO) composites was investigated in two different experimental conditions. From the isotherms, the isosteric heats of adsorption were calculated from the Clausius-Clapeyron equation following the virial approach. The results on HKUST-1 were compared with those obtained using molecular simulation studies. All materials exhibit higher ammonia adsorption capacities than those reported in the literature. The ammonia adsorption on the composites is higher than that measured separately on the MOF component and on GO. The strong adsorption of ammonia caused by chemical interactions on different adsorption sites is evidenced by the trends in the isosteric heats of adsorption. The molecular simulations conducted on HKUST-1 support the trends observed experimentally. In particular, the strong chemisorption of ammonia on the metallic centers of HKUST-1 is confirmed. Nevertheless, higher adsorption capacities are predicted compared with the experimental results. This discrepancy is mainly assigned to the partial collapse of the MOF structure upon exposure to ammonia, which is not accounted for in the simulation study.  相似文献

Nanoporous carbon-silica composites were synthesized from graphite oxide (GO) precursor by a mechanochemical intercalation (MCI) method at different conditions, and their structural property, thermal decomposition behaviors, and adsorption characteristics were examined. MCI method yields regular tetraethoxysilane (TEOS)-intercalated GO layer structures with controllable silicon content depending on the TEOS addition. Adsorption behaviors of water and hexane indicate the amphiphilic properties of the composites. The detailed porosities of the composites and their changes upon water adsorption were analyzed on the basis of alpha(s)-plot method of N(2) adsorption isotherms using a weight-averaged standard data from non-porous silica and non-porous carbon, which plausibly divides microporosity and mesoporosity.  相似文献

Formation of mixed adsorbed layers was tested for ternary liquid mixtures containing methanol or acetone and the binary solvent benzene+n — heptane. The specific excess adsorption isotherms from the liquid phase were measured on silica gel, silanized silica gel and aluminium oxide. A copper bath-vacuum fusion method for the determination of oxygen in aluminium was modified because the extensive evaporation of copper at the operating temperature gave trouble in a commercial instrument with unlidded crucibles. The evaporation can be decreased by making use of graphite capsules, where the samples and the copper are sealed before being dropped into the hot crucible. The procedure gives good results for specimens of aluminium and of aluminium-aluminium oxide composites, the oxygen content of which ranged from some tens of p.p.m. to some weight percent. The sensitivity of the method is of the order of 20 p.p.m. for sample weights of 100 mg, if copper of very low oxygen content is used.  相似文献

The properties of epoxide composites modified by thermal reduced graphite oxide are studied. The dielectric permittivities of epoxide composites with additives of up to 1.5 wt % of reduced graphite oxide are studied at a frequency of 9.8 GHz. It is shown that despite its low electrical conductivity, the large specific surface area of reduced graphite oxide allows us to create epoxide composites with high complex dielectric permittivities and dielectric loss tangents.  相似文献

Iron oxide/multiwalled carbon nanotube magnetic composites (denoted as magnetic composites) were synthesized and characterized in detail. The magnetic composites can be separated from aqueous solution easily by using magnetic separation method. The application of magnetic composites in the removal of Eu(III) from large volumes of aqueous solutions was studied. The results indicated that the sorption of Eu(III) on the magnetic composites was strongly dependent on pH values and weakly dependent on ionic strength. The sorption of Eu(III) on the magnetic composites was mainly dominated by inner-sphere surface complexation. The linear sorption isotherms of Eu(III) suggested that Eu(III) sorption on the magnetic composites was far from saturation. The large sorption capacity and the easy magnetic separation method indicate that the magnetic composites may be a promising suitable material in nuclear waste management in future.  相似文献

The adsorption properties of nanocomposites based on γ-Al2O3 modified with CeOx, Au/CeOx, and Pd/CeOx nanoparticles with contents of deposited metals ranging from 0.07 to 1.71 wt % are investigated by means of dynamic sorption method. n-Alkanes (C6–C8), acetonitrile, diethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran, and dioxane are used as test adsorbates. Adsorption isotherms are measured, and the isosteric heats of adsorption of a number of test adsorbates are calculated. Electron-donor and electron-acceptor characteristics of the surfaces of γ-Al2O3-based nanocomposites are estimated. It is shown that Au(0.1%)/CeOx(0.07%)/γ-Al2O3 nanocomposite, which has the lowest content of nanoparticles of the deposited metals, has the highest adsorption activity.  相似文献

Polystyrene (PS) was compounded with graphite that possesses high thermal conductivity and layer structures, and the PS/graphite thermal conductive nano‐composites were prepared. Thermal conductivity of PS improved remarkably in the presence of the graphite, and a much higher thermal conductivity of 1.95 W/m K can be achieved for the composite with 34 vol% of colloidal graphite. The Maxwell‐Eucken model and the Agari model were used to evaluate the thermal conductivity of the composites. For the purpose of improving the interfacial compatibility of PS/graphite, realizing the exfoliation and nano‐dispersion of graphite in the PS matrix, three intercalation methods, including rolling intercalation, solvent intercalation, and pan milling intercalation, were applied to prepare the composites, and the morphologies, thermal conductivities, and mechanical properties of the composites were investigated. It should be noted that the one prepared by pan milling intercalation not only had excellent thermal conductivity but also much higher mechanical properties, resulting from a high degree of layer exfoliation of the graphite, the formation of the chain structure agglomerates of the graphite, and the creation of more conductive paths under the strong shear stress of pan milling. Diffuse reflectance Fourier transform infrared (DRIFT) spectroscopy was used to study the adsorption process of the water-soluble polyacrylic acid (PAA) polymer on hydrous δ-Al2O3. Vibrational assignment of PAA, sodium polyacrylate, (Na–PA) and the PA-oxide surface complex was achieved by comparison of observed band position and intensity in the DRIFT spectra with wavenumbers and intensities from ab initio quantum mechanical calculations. The presented data of polyacrylic acid suggest that IR data calculated ab initio on relatively short oligomers (quantum-mechanical oligomer approach) may provide valuable information regarding the interpretation of polyelectrolyte infrared spectra. Batch adsorption experiments were performed to sorb PAA onto the δ-Al2O3 surface. The results obtained from DRIFT studies were compared with adsorption isotherm experiments in order to relate the level of PAA coverage to the nature of the surface complex. Ab initio molecular orbital calculations on PAA/Al2O3 clusters were used to model possible surface complexes. Strong correlation were found between theoretical and observed DRIFT frequencies of the antisymmetric R-COO vibration. A number of possible configurations of the polyacrylic acid/aluminate surface complex were tested via ab initio calculations. These possible configurations included different di-aluminium octahedral Al3+ surface models. Results obtained from adsorption isotherm experiments, DRIFT spectra and ab initio calculations indicate that the carboxylate oxygens bridge an Al3+-octahedral dimer [Al2(OH)24(H2O)2(OH)] in a ligand-exchange inner sphere complex.  相似文献

Modified graphite oxide (MGO)/Poly (propylene carbonate) (PPC) composites with excellent thermal and mechanical properties have been prepared via a facile solution intercalation method. An intercalated structure of MGO/PPC composites was confirmed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope. The thermal and mechanical properties of MGO/PPC composites were investigated by thermal gravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetric, dynamic mechanical analysis, and electronic tensile tester. Due to the nanometer-sized dispersion of layered graphite in PPC matrix and the strong interfacial interaction between MGO and PPC, the prepared MGO/PPC composites exhibit improved thermal and mechanical properties in comparison with pure PPC. Compared with pure PPC, the MGO/PPC composites show the highest thermal stability and the Tg is 13.8 °C higher than that of pure PPC, while the tensile strength (29.51 MPa) shows about 2 times higher than that of pure PPC when only 3.0 wt.% MGO is incorporated. These results indicate that this approach is an efficient method to improve the properties of PPC.  相似文献

The properties of poly(vinyl alcohol)/graphite oxide (PVAL/GO) composites were investigated during UV irradiation using a mercury lamp (λ = 254 nm). The course of photochemical reactions was monitored by FTIR and UV-vis absorption spectroscopies as well as by estimation of insoluble gel amount formed during crosslinking. Changes in average molecular weights resulting from main chain scission in PVAL were measured by gel permeation chromatography. Composite microstructure was characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The thermal behaviour of composites was determined by a thermogravimetric analysis. It was found that 0.1-5.0% GO addition to polymer bulk slightly hampers photooxidative degradation of PVAL. Thermal degradation in PVAL composites starts at somewhat lower temperatures in the presence of GO but this trend is changed in UV-irradiated samples.  相似文献

X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and near‐edge x‐ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy have been used to study the time‐dependent adsorption and molecular orientation behaviour of octadecyltrimethoxysilane (ODTMS) on native aluminium oxide surfaces. By measuring the adsorption isotherm using XPS, we show that ODTMS molecules exhibit oscillatory adsorption. The oscillatory adsorption behaviour for ODTMS is analogous to that observed for its simpler short‐chain ‘cousin’—propyltrimethoxysilane (PTMS)—and suggests that the length of the functional alkyl chain on an organosilane does not have a significant influence upon the oscillatory adsorption mechanism. The oscillation in the ODTMS adsorption isotherm shows a maximum and a minimum in coverage at an adsorption time of ~30 and ~65 s, respectively, for a 0.75% ODTMS solution in a 90% ethanol–10% water mixture at pH 4. The time‐dependent orientation behaviour of the ODTMS molecules during adsorption was examined using angular‐dependent carbon K‐edge NEXAFS spectroscopy. We show that the alignment of the ODTMS film changes systematically with deposition time and appears to be correlated with coverage measurements obtained using XPS. In particular, by combining the XPS and NEXAFS results we demonstrate that the minimum ODTMS coverage corresponds to a film whose alignment appears to be predominantly randomized. The structural properties of vanadium doped aluminium oxyfluorides and aluminium oxides, prepared by a modified sol-gel synthesis route, were thoroughly investigated. The influence of the preparation technique and the calcination temperature on the coordination of vanadium, aluminium and fluorine was analysed by different spectroscopic methods such as Raman, MAS NMR and ESR spectroscopy. In all samples calcined at low temperatures (350 °C), vanadium coexists in two oxidation states VIV and VV, with VIV as dominating species in the vanadium doped aluminium oxyfluorides. In the fluoride containing solids aluminium as well as vanadium are coordinated by fluorine and oxygen. Thermal annealing of 800 °C leads to an extensive reorganisation of the original matrices and to the oxidation of VIV to VV in both systems.  相似文献
