We study torus quotients of principal homogeneous spaces. We classify the Grassmannians for which semi-stable=stable and as an application we construct smooth projective varieties as torus quotients of certain homogeneous spaces. We prove the finiteness of the ring ofT invariants of the homogeneous co-ordinate ring of the GrassmannianG 2,n (n odd) over the ring generated byR 1, the first graded part of the ring ofT invariants.  相似文献

The purpose of this note is to prove some theorems on set theoretic complete intersections in Stein manifolds (or Stein spaces) which are analogous to results in affine algebraic geometry. Due to the Oka principle in Stein theory one gets stronger results. For example any locally complete intersection Y of dimension 3 in a Stein space X with dim X>2 dim Y is a set theoretic6 complete intersection. This paper constructs from the homogeneous quotients of an arbitrary semigroupS a universal group (G(S), γ) onS. If S is left reversible and cancellative, thenG(S) coincides with the embedding group of quotients of S due to Ore. If S is an inverse semigroup, G(S) coincides with the maximum group homomorphic image of S due to Munn. In these cases, γ coincides with the embedding and canonical homomorphism respectively ofS intoG(S). In general (G(S), γ) is equivalent to the universal group on S due to N. Bouleau. A universal group constructed from the set of Lambek ratios had earlier been exhibited by A.H. Clifford and G.B. Preston for cancellative semigroups satisfying the condition Z of Malcev. No previous construction has, however, emerged as a direct generalisation of both the work of Ore and Munn as does the present. Elementary properties of homogeneous quotients are employed to illuminate Bouleau's counter-example on why certain Malcev conditions are insufficient to guarantee the embeddability of a semigroup in a group.  相似文献

We study holomorphic flows on Stein manifolds. We prove that a holomorphic flow with isolated singularities and a dicritical singularity of the form on a Stein manifold with , is globally analytically linearizable; in particular M is biholomorphic to . In this paper we obtain new topological restrictions on Lagrangian embeddings into subcritical Stein manifolds. We also extend previous results of Gromov, Oh, Polterovich and Viterbo on Lagrangian submanifolds of ℂ n to the more general case of subcritical Stein manifolds. We define the notion of a (weak) almost para-CR structure on a manifold M as a distribution HMTM together with a field K ∈ Γ(End(HM)) of involutive endomorphisms of HM. If K satisfies integrability conditions, then (HM, K) is called a (weak) para-CR structure. Under some regularity conditions, an almost para-CR structure can be identified with a Tanaka structure. The notion of maximally homogeneous almost para-CR structure of a semisimple type is defined. A classification of such maximally homogeneous almost para-CR structures is given in terms of appropriate gradations of real semisimple Lie algebras. The complete homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian manifolds of constant non-zero curvature were classified up to isometry in 1961 [1]. In the same year, a structure theory [2] was developed for complete flat homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian manifolds. Here that structure theory is sharpened to a classification.
