A neutral xenon-containing radical,HXeO   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We report an open-shell species containing xenon, HXeO ((2)Sigma), prepared by UV photolysis of H(2)O/Xe or N(2)O/HBr/Xe solid mixtures at 7 K and subsequent thermal mobilization of oxygen atoms at >/=30 K. The H-Xe stretching absorption of HXeO in solid Xe is at 1466.1 cm(-1), and it shifts to 1070.3 cm(-1) upon deuteration. The extensive ab initio calculations indicate that HXeO is intrinsically stable, owing to significant ionic and covalent contributions to its bonding. The formation of HXeO ((2)Sigma) radicals in these experiments suggests extensive stabilization and thermal mobility of singlet ((1)D) oxygen atoms in solid Xe and holds promises for the stability of the HKrO and HArO species.  相似文献

Productive photochemical synthesis of hydrogen peroxide, H(2)O(2), from the H(2)O...O((3)P) van der Waals complex is studied in solid krypton. Experimentally, we achieve the three-step formation of H(2)O(2) from H(2)O and N(2)O precursors frozen in solid krypton. First, 193 nm photolysis of N(2)O yields oxygen atoms in solid krypton. Upon annealing at approximately 25 K, mobile oxygen atoms react with water forming the H(2)O...O complex, where the oxygen atom is in the triplet ground state. Finally, the H(2)O...O complex is converted to H(2)O(2) by irradiation at 300 nm. According to the complete active space self-consistent field modeling, hydrogen peroxide can be formed through the photoexcited H(2)O+-O- charge-transfer state of the H(2)O...O complex, which agrees with the experimental evidence.  相似文献

We report a laboratory measurement of the rate coefficient for the collisional removal of O(2)(X(3)Sigma(g) (-),upsilon=1) by O((3)P) atoms. In the experiments, 266-nm laser light photodissociates ozone in a mixture of molecular oxygen and ozone. The photolysis step produces vibrationally excited O(2)(a(1)Delta(g)) that is rapidly converted to O(2)(X(3)Sigma(g) (-),upsilon=1-3) in a near-resonant electronic energy-transfer process with ground-state O(2). In parallel, a large amount of O((1)D) atoms is generated that promptly relaxes to O((3)P). Under the conditions of the experiments, only collisions with the photolytically produced O((3)P) atoms control the lifetime of O(2)(X(3)Sigma(g) (-),upsilon=1), because its removal by molecular oxygen at room temperature is extremely slow. Tunable 193-nm laser light monitors the temporal evolution of the O(2)(X(3)Sigma(g) (-),upsilon=1) population by detection of laser-induced fluorescence near 360 nm. The removal rate coefficient for O(2)(X(3)Sigma(g) (-),upsilon=1) by O((3)P) atoms is (3.2+/-1.0)x10(-12) cm(3) s(-1) (2sigma) at a temperature of 315+/-15 K (2sigma). This result is essential for the analysis and correct interpretation of the 6.3-mum H(2)O(nu(2)) band emission in the Earth's mesosphere and indicates that the deactivation of O(2)(X (3)Sigma(g) (-),upsilon=1) by O((3)P) atoms is significantly faster than the nominal values recently used in atmospheric models.  相似文献

The missing Xe(IV) oxide, XeO(2), has been synthesized at 0 °C by hydrolysis of XeF(4) in water and 2.00 M H(2)SO(4(aq)). Raman spectroscopy and (16/18)O isotopic enrichment studies indicate that XeO(2) possesses an extended structure in which Xe(IV) is oxygen bridged to four neighboring oxygen atoms to give a local square-planar XeO(4) geometry based on an AX(4)E(2) valence shell electron pair repulsion (VSEPR) arrangement. The vibrational spectra of Xe(16)O(2) and Xe(18)O(2) amend prior vibrational assignments of xenon doped SiO(2) and are in accordance with prior speculation that xenon depletion from the Earth's atmosphere may occur by xenon insertion at high temperatures and high pressures into SiO(2) in the Earth's crust.  相似文献

Reaction of methyl radicals with hydroxyl radicals, CH(3) + OH → products (1) was studied using pulsed laser photolysis coupled to transient UV-vis absorption spectroscopy over the 294-714 K temperature and 1-100 bar pressure ranges (bath gas He). Methyl radicals were produced by photolysis of acetone at 193.3 nm. Hydroxyl radicals were generated in reaction of electronically excited oxygen atoms O((1)D), produced in the photolysis of N(2)O at 193.3 nm, with H(2)O. Temporal profiles of CH(3) were recorded via absorption at 216.4 nm using xenon arc lamp and a spectrograph; OH radicals were monitored via transient absorption of light from a dc discharge H(2)O/Ar low pressure resonance lamp at ca. 308 nm. The absolute intensity of the photolysis light inside the reactor was determined by an accurate in situ actinometry based on the ozone formation in the presence of molecular oxygen. The results of this study indicate that the rate constant of reaction 1 is pressure independent within the studied pressure and temperature ranges and has slight negative temperature dependence, k(1) = (1.20 ± 0.20) × 10(-10)(T/300)(-0.49) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1).  相似文献

A low-temperature gas-phase kinetics study of the reactions and collisional relaxation processes involving C2(X1Sigma(g)+) and C2(a3Pi(u)) in collision with O2 and NO partners at temperatures from 300 to 24 K is reported. The experiments employed a CRESU (Cinétique de Réaction en Ecoulement Supersonique Uniforme) apparatus to attain low temperatures. The C2 species were created using pulsed laser photolysis at 193 nm of mixtures containing C2Cl4 diluted in N2, Ar, or He carrier gas. C2(X1Sigma(g)+) molecules were detected via pulsed laser-induced fluorescence in the (D1Sigma(u)+ <-- X1Sigma(g)+) system, and C2(a3Pi(u)) molecules were detected via pulsed laser-induced fluorescence in the (d 3Pi(g) <-- a 3Pi(u)) system. Relaxation of 3C2 by intersystem crossing induced by oxygen was measured at temperatures below 200 K, and it was found that this process remains very efficient in the temperature range 50-200 K. Reactivity of C2(X1Sigma(g)+) with oxygen became very inefficient below room temperature. Using these two observations, it was found to be possible to obtain the C2(X1Sigma(g)+) state alone at low temperatures by addition of a suitable concentration of O2 and then study its reactivity with NO without any interference coming from the possible relaxation of C2(a3Pi(u)) to C2(X1Sigma(g)+) induced by this reagent. The rate coefficient for reaction of C2(X1Sigma(g)+) with NO was found to be essentially constant over the temperature range 36-300 K with an average value of (1.6 +/- 0.1) x 10(-10) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1). Reactivity of C2(a3Pi(u)) with NO was found to possess a slight negative temperature dependence over the temperature range 50-300 K, which is in very good agreement with data obtained at higher temperatures.  相似文献

The photochemistry of Cl(2)O (dichlorine monoxide) was studied using measurements of its UV/vis absorption spectrum temperature dependence and the O((3)P) atom quantum yield, Φ(Cl(2)O)(O)(λ), in its photolysis at 193 and 248 nm. The Cl(2)O UV/vis absorption spectrum was measured over the temperature range 201-296 K between 200 and 500 nm using diode array spectroscopy. Cl(2)O absorption cross sections, σ(Cl(2)O)(λ,T), at temperatures <296 K were determined relative to its well established room temperature values. A wavelength and temperature dependent parameterization of the Cl(2)O spectrum using the sum of six Gaussian functions, which empirically represent transitions from the ground (1)A(1) electronic state to excited states, is presented. The Gaussian functions are found to correlate well with published theoretically calculated vertical excitation energies. O((3)P) quantum yields in the photolysis of Cl(2)O at 193 and 248 nm were measured using pulsed laser photolysis combined with atomic resonance fluorescence detection of O((3)P) atoms. O((3)P) quantum yields were measured to be 0.85 ± 0.15 for 193 nm photolysis at 296 K and 0.20 ± 0.03 at 248 nm, which was also found to be independent of temperature (220-352 K) and pressure (17 and 28 Torr, N(2)). The quoted uncertainties are at the 2σ (95% confidence) level and include estimated systematic errors. ClO radical temporal profiles obtained following the photolysis of Cl(2)O at 248 nm, as reported previously in Feierabend et al. [J. Phys. Chem. A 114, 12052, (2010)], were interpreted to establish a <5% upper-limit for the O + Cl(2) photodissociation channel, which indicates that O((3)P) is primarily formed in the three-body, O + 2Cl, photodissociation channel at 248 nm. The analysis also indirectly provided a Cl atom quantum yield of 1.2 ± 0.1 at 248 nm. The results from this work are compared with previous studies where possible.  相似文献

Self-reaction of hydroxyl radicals, OH + OH → H(2)O + O (1a) and OH + OH → H(2)O(2) (1b), was studied using pulsed laser photolysis coupled to transient UV-vis absorption spectroscopy over the 298-834 K temperature and 1-100 bar pressure ranges (bath gas He). A heatable high-pressure flow reactor was employed. Hydroxyl radicals were prepared using reaction of electronically excited oxygen atoms, O((1)D), produced in photolysis of N(2)O at 193 nm, with H(2)O. The temporal behavior of OH radicals was monitored via transient absorption of light from a dc discharge in H(2)O/Ar low-pressure resonance lamp at ca. 308 nm. The absolute intensity of the photolysis light was determined by accurate in situ actinometry based on the ozone formation in the presence of molecular oxygen. The results of this study combined with the literature data indicate that the rate constant of reaction 1a, associated with the pressure independent component, decreases with temperature within the temperature range 298-414 K and increases above 555 K. The pressure dependent rate constant for (1b) was parametrized using the Troe expression as k(1b,inf) = (2.4 ± 0.6) × 10(-11)(T/300)(-0.5) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1), k(1b,0) = [He] (9.0 ± 2.2) × 10(-31)(T/300)(-3.5±0.5) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1), F(c) = 0.37.  相似文献

A novel noble-gas compound, HXeOXeH, is identified using IR spectroscopy, and it seems to be the smallest known neutral molecule with two noble-gas atoms. HXeOXeH is prepared using, for example, UV photolysis of water in solid xenon and subsequent annealing at 40-45 K. The experimental observations are fully supported by extensive quantum chemical calculations. A large energy release of 8.3 eV is computationally predicted for the decomposition of HXeOXeH into the 2Xe + H2O global energy minimum. HXeOXeH may represent a first step toward the possible preparation of (Xe-O)n chains and it may be relevant to the terrestrial "missing xenon" problem.  相似文献

Vibrational relaxation of O2(X 3sigma(g)-, upsilon=2,3) by O2 molecules is studied via a two-laser approach. Laser radiation at 266 nm photodissociates ozone in a mixture of molecular oxygen and ozone. The photolysis step produces vibrationally excited O2(a 1delta(g)) that is rapidly converted to O2(X 3sigma(g)-, upsilon=2,3) in a near-resonant adiabatic electronic energy-transfer process involving collisions with ground-state O2. The output of a tunable 193-nm ArF laser monitors the temporal evolution of the O2(X 3sigma(g)-, upsilon=2,3) population via laser-induced fluorescence detected near 360 nm. The rate coefficients for the vibrational relaxation of O2(X 3sigma(g)-, upsilon=2,3) in collision with O2 are 2.0(-0.4)(+0.6) x 10(-13) cm3 s(-1) and (2.6+/-0.4) x 10(-13) cm3 s(-1), respectively. These rate coefficients agree well with other experimental work but are significantly larger than those produced by various semiclassical theoretical calculations.  相似文献

The dynamics of the gas-liquid interfacial reaction of the first electronically excited state of the oxygen atom, O((1)D), with the surface of a liquid hydrocarbon, squalane (C(30)H(62); 2,6,10,15,19,23-hexamethyltetracosane) has been studied experimentally. Translationally hot O((1)D) atoms were generated by 193 nm photolysis of a low pressure (nominally 1 mTorr) of N(2)O a short distance (mean = 6 mm) above a continually refreshed liquid squalane surface. Nascent OH (X(2)Π, v' = 0) reaction products were detected by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) on the OH A(2)Σ(+)-X(2)Π (1,0) band at the same distance above the surface. The speed distribution of the recoiling OH was characterized by measuring the appearance profiles as a function of photolysis-probe delay for selected rotational levels, N'. The rotational (and, partially, fine-structure) state distributions were also measured by recording LIF excitation spectra at selected photolysis-probe delays. The OH v' = 0 rotational distribution is bimodal and can be empirically decomposed into near thermal (~300 K) and much hotter (~6000 K) Boltzmann-temperature components. There is a strong positive correlation between rotational excitation and translation energy. However, the colder rotational component still represents a significant fraction (~30%) of the fastest products, which have substantially superthermal speeds. We estimate an approximate upper limit of 3% for the quantum yield of OH per O((1)D) atom that collides with the surface. By comparison with established mechanisms for the corresponding reactions in the gas phase, we conclude that the rotationally and translationally hot products are formed via a nonstatistical insertion mechanism. The rotationally cold but translationally hot component is most likely produced by direct abstraction. Secondary collisions at the liquid surface of products of either of the previous two mechanisms are most likely responsible for the rotationally and translationally cold products. We do not think it likely, a priori, that they could be produced in the observed significant yield via a statistical insertion mechanism for a molecule the size of squalane embedded in a surrounding liquid surface.  相似文献

Recent studies have shown that the UV/vis photolysis of nitryl chloride (ClNO2) can be a major source of reactive chlorine in the troposphere. The present work reports measurements of the ClNO2 absorption spectrum and its temperature dependence between 210 and 296 K over the wavelength range 200–475 nm using diode array spectroscopy. The room temperature spectrum obtained in this work was found to be in good agreement with the results from Ganske et al. (J. Geophys. Res. 1992, 97, 7651) over the wavelength range common to both studies (200–370 nm) but differs systematically from the currently recommended spectrum for use in atmospheric models. The present results lead to a decrease in the calculated atmospheric ClNO2 photolysis rate by 30%. Including the temperature dependence of the ClNO2 spectrum decreases the calculated atmospheric photolysis rate at lower temperatures (higher altitudes) even further. A parametrization of the wavelength and temperature dependence of the ClNO2 spectrum is presented. O(3P) quantum yields, Φ(ClNO2)(O), in the photolysis of ClNO2 at 193 and 248 nm were measured at 296 K using pulsed laser photolysis combined with atomic resonance fluorescence detection of O(3P) atoms. Φ(ClNO2)(O)(λ) was found to be 0.67 ± 0.12 and 0.15 ± 0.03 (2σ error limits, including estimated systematic errors) at 193 and 248 nm, respectively, indicating that multiple dissociation channels are active in the photolysis of ClNO2 at these wavelengths. The Φ(ClNO2)(O)(λ) values obtained in this work are discussed in light of previous ClNO2 photodissociation studies and the differences are discussed.  相似文献

CN(X(2)Sigma(+)) radicals were produced by the decomposition of BrCN with the microwave discharge flow of Ar under the conditions of Ar pressure in the range of 0.40-0.70 Torr. The laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) spectra of the CN(A(2)Pi(i)-X(2)Sigma(+)), 4-0, 5-1, and 7-2 bands were observed, and their intensities were calibrated against Rayleigh-scattering intensity by Ar atoms, from which the CN(X(2)Sigma(+)) radical density (n(CN(X))) was determined as (0.67+/-0.25) x 10(18) to (4.42+/-0.83) x 10(18) m(-3). Hydrogenated amorphous carbon nitride (a-CN(x):H) films were formed by depositing the CN(X(2)Sigma(+)) radicals on Si substrates in the same reaction system as LIF. The sticking probability (s) of the CN(X(2)Sigma(+)) radicals onto the a-CN(x):H films was determined by using n(CN(X)), the flow speed, and the weight (w) of a-CN(x):H. The s value was determined as (6.4+/-6.4) x 10(-2) to (2.5+/-1.2) x 10(-2), where the errors are predominantly determined by those in n(CN(X)) and w. The procedure described in the present study will provide a methodology to determine the sticking probability of the precursor radicals of the film formation based on the gas-phase LIF spectroscopy.

The kinetics of the reaction between O atoms and OH radicals, both in their electronic ground state, have been investigated at temperatures down to ca. 39 K. The experiments employed a CRESU (Cinétique deRéaction en Ecoulement Supersonique Uniforme) apparatus to attain low temperatures. Both reagents were created using pulsed laser photolysis at 157.6 nm of mixtures containing H2O and O2 diluted in N2 carrier gas. OH radicals were formed by both direct photolysis of H2O and the reaction between O(1D) atoms and H2O. O(3P) atoms were formed both as a direct product of O2 photolysis and by the rapid quenching of O(1D) atoms formed in that photolysis by N2 and O2. The rates of removal of OH radicals were observed by laser-induced fluorescence, and concentrations of O atoms were estimated from a knowledge of the absorption cross-section for O2 at 157.6 nm and of the measured fluence from the F2 laser at this wavelength. To obtain a best estimate of the rate constants for the O + OH reaction, we had to correct the raw experimental data for the following: (a) the decrease in the laser fluence along the jet due to the absorption by O2 in the gas mixture, (b) the increase in temperature, and consequent decrease in gas density, as a result of energy released in the photochemical and chemical processes that occurred, and (c) the formation of OH(v = 0) as a result of relaxation, particularly by O2, of OH radicals formed in levels v > 0. Once these corrections were made, the rate constant for reaction between OH and O(3P) atoms showed little variation in the temperature range of 142 to 39 K and had a value of (3.5 +/- 1.0) x 10(-11) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1). It is recommended that this value is used in future chemical models of dense interstellar clouds.  相似文献

We report on the preparation and characterization of three new noble-gas molecules ClXeCN, ClXeNC, and BrXeCN. These molecules are synthesized by 193 nm photolysis and thermal annealing of ClCN and BrCN in a xenon matrix. The absorption spectra are measured in the mid- and far-infrared regions, and the assignment is supported by isotope substitution and quantum chemical calculations at the B3LYP and MP2 levels of theory. The present results demonstrate a way to prepare other noble-gas molecules of this type.  相似文献

The 4th positive and Cameron band emissions from electronically excited CO have been observed for the first time in 248-nm pulsed laser photolysis of a trace amount of CHBr(3) vapor in an excess of O atoms. O atoms were produced by dissociation of N(2)O (or O(2)) in a cw-microwave discharge cavity in 2.0 Torr of He at 298 K. The CO emission intensity in these bands showed a quadratic dependence on the laser fluence employed. Temporal profiles of the CO(A) and other excited-state products that formed in the photoproduced precursor + O-atom reactions were measured by recording their time-resolved chemiluminescence in discrete vibronic bands. The CO 4th positive transition (A(1)Pi, v' = 0 --> X(1)Sigma(+), v' ' = 2) near 165.7 nm was monitored in this work to deduce the pseudo-first-order decay kinetics of the CO(A) chemiluminescence in the presence of various added substrates (CH(4), NO, N(2)O, H(2), and O(2)). From this, the second-order rate coefficient values were determined for reactions of these substrates with the photoproduced precursors. The measured reactivity trends suggest that the prominent precursors responsible for the CO(A) chemiluminescence are the methylidyne radicals, CH(X(2)Pi) and CH(a(4)Sigma(-)), whose production requires the absorption of at least 2 laser photons by the photolysis mixture. The O-atom reactions with brominated precursors (CBr, CHBr, and CBr(2)), which also form in the photolysis, are shown to play a minor role in the production of the CO(A or a) chemiluminescence. However, the CBr(2) + O-atom reaction was identified as a significant source for the 289.9-nm Br(2) chemiluminescence that was also observed in this work. The 282.2-nm OH and the 336.2-nm NH chemiluminescences were also monitored to deduce the kinetics of CH(X(2)Pi) and CH(a(4)Sigma(-)) reactions when excess O(2) and NO were present.  相似文献

Reactions of XeO2F2 with the strong fluoride ion acceptors, AsF5 and SbF5, in anhydrous HF solvent give rise to alpha- and beta-[XeO2F][SbF6], [XeO2F][AsF6], and [FO2XeFXeO2F][AsF6]. The crystal structures of alpha-[XeO2F][SbF6] and [XeO2F][AsF6] consist of trigonal-pyramidal XeO2F+ cations, which are consistent with an AXY2E VSEPR arrangement, and distorted octahedral MF6- (M = As, Sb) anions. The beta-phase of [XeO2F][SbF6] is a tetramer in which the xenon atoms of four XeO2F+ cations and the antimony atoms of four SbF6- anions are positioned at alternate corners of a cube. The FO2XeFXeO2F+ cations of [FO(2)XeFXeO2F][AsF6] are comprised of two XeO2F units that are bridged by a fluorine atom, providing a bent Xe- - -F- - -Xe arrangement. The angle subtended by the bridging fluorine atom, a xenon atom, and the terminal fluorine atom of the XeO2F group is bent toward the valence electron lone-pair domain on xenon, so that each F- - -XeO2F moiety resembles the AX(2)Y(2)E arrangement and geometry of the parent XeO2F2 molecule. Reaction of XeF6 with [H3O][SbF6] in a 1:2 molar ratio in anhydrous HF predominantly yielded [XeF5][SbF6].XeOF4 as well as [XeO2F][Sb2F11]. The crystal structure of the former salt was also determined. The energy-minimized, gas-phase MP2 geometries for the XeO2F+ and FO2XeFXeO2F+ cations are compared with the experimental and calculated geometries of the related species IO2F, TeO2F-, XeO2(OTeF5)+, XeO2F2, and XeO2(OTeF5)2. The bonding in these species has been described by natural bond orbital and electron localization function analyses. The standard enthalpies and Gibbs free energies for reactions leading to XeO2F+ and FO2XeFXeO2F+ salts from MF5 (M = As, Sb) and XeO2F2 were obtained from Born-Haber cycles and are mildly exothermic and positive, respectively. When the reactions are carried out in anhydrous HF at low temperatures, the salts are readily formed and crystallized from the reaction medium. With the exception of [XeO2F][AsF6], the XeO2F+ and FO2XeFXeO2F+ salts are kinetically stable toward dissociation to XeO2F2 and MF5 at room temperature. The salt, [XeO2F][AsF6], readily dissociates to [FO2XeFXeO2F][AsF6] and AsF5 under dynamic vacuum at 0 degree C. The decompositions of XeO2F+ salts to the corresponding XeF+ salts and O2 are exothermic and spontaneous but slow at room temperature.  相似文献

Polarized laser photolysis, coupled with resonantly enhanced multiphoton ionization detection of O(1D2) and velocity-map ion imaging, has been used to investigate the photodissociation dynamics of ozone at 193 nm. The use of multiple pump and probe laser polarization geometries and probe transitions has enabled a comprehensive characterization of the angular momentum polarization of the O(1D2) photofragments, in addition to providing high-resolution information about their speed and angular distributions. Images obtained at the probe laser wavelength of around 205 nm indicate dissociation primarily via the Hartley band, involving absorption to, and diabatic dissociation on, the B 1B2(3 1A1) potential energy surface. Rather different O(1D2) speed and electronic angular momentum spatial distributions are observed at 193 nm, suggesting that the dominant excitation at these photon energies is to a state of different symmetry from that giving rise to the Hartley band and also indicating the participation of at least one other state in the dissociation process. Evidence for a contribution from absorption into the tail of the Hartley band at 193 nm is also presented. A particularly surprising result is the observation of nonzero, albeit small values for all three rank K = 1 orientation moments of the angular momentum distribution. The polarization results obtained at 193 and 205 nm, together with those observed previously at longer wavelengths, are interpreted using an analysis of the long range quadrupole-quadrupole interaction between the O(1D2) and O2(1Deltag) species.  相似文献
