The visible‐light response of Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) assembled on rGO through different molecular bridges was investigated by transient photocurrent generation. We prepared rGO with two self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs), one linear and the other with aromatic triazoles through a click cycloaddition reaction. A fivefold photocurrent enhancement was observed for triazole linkers over the aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS) linker. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and impedance measurements also suggest fast electron transfer on account of the low resistance offered by the click‐modified rGO surface whereby introduction of triazoles offers the efficient bridge between the donor AuNPs and acceptor rGO.  相似文献

A new series of donor–bridge–acceptor (D–B–A) compounds consisting of π‐conjugated oligofluorene (oFL) bridges between a ferrocene (Fc) electron‐donor and a fullerene (C60) electron‐acceptor have been synthesized. In addition to varying the length of the bridge (i.e., mono‐ and bi‐fluorene derivatives), four different ways of linking ferrocene to the bridge have been examined. The Fc moiety is linked to oFL: 1) directly without any spacer, 2) by an ethynyl linkage, 3) by a vinylene linkage, and 4) by a p‐phenylene unit. The electronic interactions between the electroactive species have been characterized by cyclic voltammetry, absorption, fluorescence, and transient absorption spectroscopy in combination with quantum chemical calculations. The calculations reveal exceptionally close energy‐matching between the Fc and the oFL units, which results in strong electronic‐coupling. Hence, intramolecular charge‐transfer may easily occur upon exciting either the oFLs or Fcs. Photoexcitation of Fc–oFL–C60 conjugates results in transient radical‐ion‐pair states. The mode of linkage of the Fc and FL bridge has a profound effect on the photophysical properties. Whereas intramolecular charge‐separation is found to occur rather independently of the distance, the linker between Fc and oFL acts (at least in oFL) as a bottleneck and significantly impacts the intramolecular charge‐separation rates, resulting in beta values between βCS 0.08 and 0.19 Å?1. In contrast, charge recombination depends strongly on the electron‐donor–acceptor distance, but not at all on the linker. A value of βCR (0.35±0.01 Å?1) was found for all the systems studied. Oligofluorenes prove, therefore, to be excellent bridges for probing how small structural variations affect charge transport in D–B–A systems.  相似文献

Control over the interchromophore separation, their angular relationship, and the spatial overlap of their electronic clouds in several ZnP-C(60) dyads (ZnP=zinc porphyrin) is used to modulate the rates of intramolecular electron transfer. For the first time, a detailed analysis of the charge transfer absorption and emission spectra, time-dependent spectroscopic measurements, and molecular dynamics simulations prove quantitatively that the same two moieties can produce widely different electron-transfer regimes. This investigation also shows that the combination of ZnP and C(60) consistently produces charge recombination in the inverted Marcus region, with reorganization energies that are remarkably low, regardless of the solvent polarity. The time constants of electron transfer range from the mus to the ps regime, the electronic couplings from a few tens to several hundreds of cm(-1), and the reorganization energies remain below 0.54 eV and can be as low as 0.16 eV.  相似文献

The preparation of several covalent conjugates of the dye, eosin Y (EY2-) with the amino acid, L-tryptophan (Trp), the dipeptide, Trp-Trp, and with poly(L)-tryptophan is described. Intramolecular photochemical electron transfer is responsible for the quenching of dye excited singlet states (flourescence) in these systems. The sacrificial acceptor, tetranitromethane (TNM), was used to irreversibly oxidize pendant dye groups; the transfer of charge (“holes”) from the oxidized eosin moiety located at the N-terminus of the peptides was monitored by laser flash photolysis. Both modes of electron transfer involve charge transfer from indole side chains associated with Trp groups for the various peptide links. Study of the kinetics of hole transfer provided rate constants in the range of 103–104 s-1 for several solvent media including aqueous poly(vinylpyrrolidinone) (PVP), a polymer that provides a protein-like microdomain. The observed temperature dependence of the hole transfer rate is consistent with non-adiabatic electron transfer over distances determined by molecular modeling to be about 1.0 nm (through-space) and involving through-bond interactions via a network of σ-π overlaps. Findings are discussed in terms of demonstration of the entrainment of charge along peptide chains and the efficient separation of charge in (bio)polymer structures of some size that display vectorial properties.  相似文献

A series of compounds were designed and synthesized to examine how through-space and through-bond electron delocalization respond to solvent effects. The general strategy involves the study of "dimers" of the distyrylbenzene chromophore held in close proximity by the [2.2]paracyclophane core and a systematic dissection of the chromophore into components with through-space and through-bond electronic delocalization. Steady state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy in a range of solvents reveals a red-shift in emission and an increase in the intrinsic fluorescence lifetime for the emitting state in polar solvents when donor substituents are absent. We propose that through-space delocalization across the [2.2]paracyclophane core is more polarizable in the excited state, relative to the through-bond (distyrylbenzene based) excited state. When strong donors are attached to the distyrylbenzene chromophore, the charge transfer character of the distyrylbenzene-based excited state dominates fluorescence properties.  相似文献

Three rotaxanes, with axles with two zinc porphyrins (ZnPs) at both ends penetrating into a necklace pending a C60 moiety, were synthesized with varying interlocked structures and axle lengths. The intra-rotaxane photoinduced electron transfer processes between the spatially positioned C60 and ZnP in rotaxanes were investigated. Charge-separated (CS) states (ZnP*+, C60*-)rotaxane are formed via the excited singlet state of ZnP (1ZnP*) to the C60 moiety in solvents such as benzonitrile, THF, and toluene. The rate constants and quantum yields of charge separation via 1ZnP decrease with axle length, but they are insensitive to solvent polarity. When the axle becomes long, charge separation takes place via the excited triplet state of ZnP (3ZnP*). The lifetime of the CS state increases with axle length from 180 to 650 ns at room temperature. The small activation energies of charge recombination were evaluated by temperature dependence of electron-transfer rate constants, probably reflecting through-space electron transfer in the rotaxane structures.  相似文献

Directly linked to promote strong intramolecular interactions, donor–acceptor dyads and a donor–acceptor–donor triad featuring zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) as electron donor and perylenediimide (PDI) as electron acceptor have been synthesized and characterized. Owing to complementary absorption features of the entities, improved light absorption was witnessed in these conjugates. The optimized geometry and electronic structures showed the majority of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) on the ZnPc entity, whereas the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) was on the PDI entity, suggesting that the charge-separated states would be ZnPc + –PDI . . The electrochemical and free-energy calculations suggested exothermic energy and/or electron transfer processes via the singlet states of PDI or ZnPc entities depending on the excitation wavelength of the laser used. The measured rates using femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy coupled with global analysis of transient data revealed ultrafast energy transfer from 1PDI* to ZnPc followed by charge separation. However, when ZnPc was selectively excited, only electron transfer was witnessed wherein the time constants for forward and reverse electron transfer processes followed Marcus predictions. The absorption in a wide section of the solar spectrum and the ultrafast charge separation suggest the usefulness of these systems as good photosynthetic models.  相似文献

To promote photoinduced charge separation previously observed for the oligothiophene-fullerene dyads (nT-C60), we have designed an additional attachment with a strongly electron-donating ferrocene at the unsubstituted terminal site of the oligothiophene and synthesized two types of the ferrocene-oligothiophene-fullerene triads, Fc-nT-C60 directly linking the ferrocene to the oligothiophene and Fc-tm-nT-C60 inserting a trimethylene spacer between the ferrocene and the oligothiophene. For the central oligothiophene of the triads, a homologous series of quaterthiophene (4T), octithiophene (8T), and duodecithiophene (12T) are systematically examined. The cyclic voltammograms and electronic absorption spectra of Fc-nT-C60 indicate conjugation between the ferrocene and oligothiophene components. The emission spectra of Fc-nT-C60 measured in toluene demonstrate that the fluorescence of the oligothiophene is markedly quenched, as compared to that observed for the dyads nT-C60. This quenching is explained in terms of the involvement of intramolecular electron transfer in the photophysical decay process. The additionally conjugated ferrocene evidently contributes to the stabilization of charge separation states, thus promoting intramolecular electron transfer. This is corroborated by the observation that the emission spectra of the nonconjugated triads Fc-tm-nT-C60 are essentially similar to the corresponding dyads nT-C60.  相似文献

A series of sphere-rod shape amphiphiles were designed and synthesized by connecting the rod-like oligofluorenes with different lengths(OF_n) to the different positions of the spherical [60]fullerene(C_(60)) through a rigid linkage. The conjugates were characterized by ~1H-NMR, ~(13)C-NMR, FTIR, EA and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. The optical and electronic properties of the conjugates were studied by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectrometry, and cyclic voltammetry. The results from UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry indicated that the energy profiles of C_(60) and OF_n remained unchanged when different lengths of OF_n were attached to C_(60). The electron affinities of the OF_n-C_(60) conjugates were close to that of C_(60), while slight electronic interaction was found between the two individual chromophores(C_(60) and OF_n) in their ground states. The fluorescence spectra exhibited a complete fluorescence quenching in the toluene solution, suggesting an effective energy transfer from OF_n to C_(60). It presents a systematic study on the selfassembly, structure-property relationship, and potential technical applications of the conjugates.  相似文献

Functional mimics of a photosynthetic antenna-reaction center complex comprising five bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene antenna moieties and a porphyrin-fullerene dyad organized by a central hexaphenylbenzene core have been prepared and studied spectroscopically. The molecules successfully integrate singlet-singlet energy transfer and photoinduced electron transfer. Energy transfer from the five antennas to the porphyrin occurs on the picosecond time scale with a quantum yield of 1.0. Comparisons with model compounds and theory suggest that the F?rster mechanism plays a major role in the extremely rapid energy transfer, which occurs at rates comparable to those seen in some photosynthetic antenna systems. A through-bond, electron exchange mechanism also contributes. The porphyrin first excited singlet state donates an electron to the attached fullerene to yield a P(*+)-C(60)(*-) charge-separated state, which has a lifetime of several nanoseconds. The quantum yield of charge separation based on light absorbed by the antenna chromophores is 80% for the free base molecule and 96% for the zinc analogue.  相似文献

Photoinduced electron transfer (PET) processes of 1,8-naphthalimide-linker-phenothiazine (NI-L-PTZ) dyads have been investigated using the nanosecond- and picosecond-transient absorption measurements. Two kinds of linker were introduced, i.e., polymethylene-linked dyad (NI-C8-PTZ and NI-C11-PTZ) and a poly(ethyl ether)-linked one (NI-O-PTZ). The 355 nm pulsed laser excitation of NI-C8-PTZ, NI-C11-PTZ, and NI-O-PTZ in acetonitrile produced NI radical anion (NI*-) and PTZ radical cation (PTZ*+) with the absorption bands around 420 and 520 nm, respectively, through charge transfer from PTZ to NI in the singlet excited state (NI(S1)) as well as in the triplet excited states (NI(T1)) in acetonitrile. On the other hand, the charge transfer process occurred only from NI(S1) in nonpolar solvents. The rates of charge transfer and charge recombination processes largely depended on the solvent polarity and they are affected by the length of linkers and electronic coupling through polyether linker. The PET mechanism is discussed in terms of the free energy change for the charge transfer.  相似文献

In a systematic approach we synthesized a new series of fluorescent probes incorporating donor–acceptor (D‐A) substituted 1,2,3‐triazoles as conjugative π‐linkers between the alkali metal ion receptor N‐phenylaza‐[18]crown‐6 and different fluorophoric groups with different electron‐acceptor properties (4‐naphthalimide, meso‐phenyl‐BODIPY and 9‐anthracene) and investigated their performance in organic and aqueous environments (physiological conditions). In the charge‐transfer (CT) type probes 1 , 2 and 7 , the fluorescence is almost completely quenched by intramolecular CT (ICT) processes involving charge‐separated states. In the presence of Na+ and K+ ICT is interrupted, which resulted in a lighting‐up of the fluorescence in acetonitrile. Among the investigated fluoroionophores, compound 7 , which contains a 9‐anthracenyl moiety as the electron‐accepting fluorophore, is the only probe which retains light‐up features in water and works as a highly K+/Na+‐selective probe under simulated physiological conditions. Virtually decoupled BODIPY‐based 6 and photoinduced electron transfer (PET) type probes 3 – 5 , where the 10‐substituted anthracen‐9‐yl fluorophores are connected to the 1,2,3‐triazole through a methylene spacer, show strong ion‐induced fluorescence enhancement in acetonitrile, but not under physiological conditions. Electrochemical studies and theoretical calculations were used to assess and support the underlying mechanisms for the new ICT and PET 1,2,3‐triazole fluoroionophores.  相似文献

We report results from simulations of charge and energy dynamics in poly(para-phenylenevinylene) (PPV) and PPV interacting with C60. The simulations were performed by solving the time-dependent Schrodinger equation and the lattice equation of motion simultaneously and nonadiabatically. The electronic system and the coupling of the electrons to the lattice were described by an extended three-dimensional version of the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model, which also included an external electric field. Electron and lattice dynamics following electronic excitations at different energies have been simulated. The effect of additional lattice energy was also included in the simulations. Our results show that both exciton diffusion and transitions from high to lower lying excitations are stimulated by increasing the lattice energy. Also field induced charge separation occurs faster if the lattice energy is increased. This separation process is highly nonadiabatic and involves a significant rearrangement of the electron distribution. In the case of PPV coupled to C60, we observe a spontaneous charge separation. The separation time is in this case limited by the local concentration of C60 molecules close to the PPV chain.  相似文献

A series of truly water-soluble C(60)/porphyrin electron donor-acceptor conjugates has been synthesized to serve as powerful mimics of photosynthetic reaction centers. To this end, the overall water-solubility of the conjugates was achieved by adding hydrophilic dendrimers of different generations to the porphyrin moiety. An important variable is the metal center of the porphyrin; we examined zinc(II), copper(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), iron(III), and manganese(III). The first insights into electronic communication between the electron donors and the electron acceptors came from electrochemical assays, which clearly indicate that the redox processes centered either on C(60) or the porphyrins are mutually affected. Absorption measurements, however, revealed that the electronic communication in terms of, for example, charge-transfer features, remains spectroscopically invisible. The polar environment that water provides is likely to be a cause of the lack of detection. Despite this, transient absorption measurements confirm that intramolecular charge separation processes in the excited state lead to rapid deactivation of the excited states and, in turn, afford the formation of radical ion pair states in all of the investigated cases. Most importantly, the lifetimes of the radical ion pairs were found to depend strongly on several aspects. The nature of the coordinated metal center and the type of dendrimer have a profound impact on the lifetime. It has been revealed that the nature/electronic configuration of the metal centers is decisive in powering a charge recombination that either reinstates the ground state or any given multiplet excited state. Conversely, the equilibrium of two opposing forces in the dendrimers, that is, the interactions between their hydrophilic regions and the solvent and the electronic communication between their hydrophobic regions and the porphyrin and/or fullerene, is the key to tuning the lifetimes.  相似文献

A series of three novel ZnPc-C60 conjugates (Pc=phthalocyanine) 1 a-c bearing different spacers (single, double, and triple bond) between the two electroactive moieties was synthesized and compared to that of ZnPc-C60 conjugate 2, in which the two electroactive moieties are linked directly. The synthetic strategy- towards the preparation of 1 a-c- involved palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions over a monoiodophthalocyanine precursor 4 to introduce the corresponding spacer, and subsequent dipolar cycloaddition reaction to C60. Detailed photophysical investigations of 1 a-c and 2 prompted an intramolecular electron transfer that evolves from the photoexcited ZnPc to the electron-accepting C60. In particular, with the help of femtosecond laser photolysis charge separation was indeed confirmed as the major deactivation channel. Complementary time-dependent density functional calculations supported the spectral assignment, namely, the spectral identity of the ZnPc(*+) radical cation and the C60 (*-) radical anion as seen in the differential absorption spectra. The lifetimes of the correspondingly formed radical ion-pair states depend markedly on the solvent polarity: they increase as polarity decreases. Similarly, although to a lesser extent, the nature of the linker impacts the lifetime of the radical ion-pair states. In general, the lifetimes of these states tend to be shortest in the system that lacks any spacer at all (2), whereas the longest lifetimes were found in the system that carries the triple-bond spacer (1 a).  相似文献

A new approach to probe the effect of graphene on photochemical charge separation in donor–acceptor conjugates is devised. For this, multimodular donor–acceptor conjugates, composed of three molecules of pyrene, a subphthalocyanine, and a fullerene C60 ((Pyr)3SubPc‐C60), have been synthesized and characterized. These systems were hybridized on few‐layer graphene through π–π stacking interactions of the three pyrene moieties. The hybrids were characterized using Raman, HRTEM, and spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques. The energy levels of the donor–acceptor conjugates were fine‐tuned upon interaction with graphene and photoinduced charge separation in the absence and presence of graphene was studied by femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy. Accelerated charge separation and recombination was detected in these graphene‐decorated conjugates suggesting that they could be used as materials for fast‐responding optoelectronic devices and in light energy harvesting applications.  相似文献

To shed light on intramolecular charge‐transfer phenomena in 1,2,3‐triazole‐linked materials, a series of 1,2,3‐triazole‐linked push–pull chromophores were prepared and studied experimentally and computationally. Investigated modifications include variation of donor and/or acceptor strength and linker moiety as well as regioisomers. Photophysical characterization of intramolecular charge‐transfer features revealed ambipolar behavior of the triazole linker, depending on the substitution position. Furthermore, non‐centrosymmetric materials were subjected to second‐harmonic generation measurements, which revealed the high nonlinear optical activity of this class of materials.  相似文献

Apparently solvent-mediated and not through-bond photoinduced electron transfer (ET) takes place from the porphyrin (P) unit to the methylviologen (MV2+) unit in the rigid U-shaped molecules 1 (i.e., kTSET>kTBET; TS=through-solvent, TB=through-bond). The ratio of the rates of charge separation to charge recombination is greater than 1400:1.  相似文献
