We prove that the expansion in powers of the temperatureT of the correlation functions and the free energy of the plane rotator model on ad-dimensional lattice is asymptotic to all orders inT. The leading term in the expansion is the spin wave approximation and the higher powers are obtained by the usual perturbation series. Penrose's abstract index notation and axiomatic introduction of covariant derivatives in tensor calculus is generalized to fields with internal degrees of freedom. We investigate the structure of the phase separation line between the pure phases in the two-dimensional Ising model, the liquid and vapor phase in lattice gas language, at low temperatures. The fluctuations in the location of this line are known to diverge in the thermodynamic limit, something which is also believed to happen to the continuum liquid-vapor interface in three dimensions (in the absence of the gravitational field). We show that despite this global divergence it is possible to define precisely the local structure of the phase separation line. This has a finite, exponentially small, width at low temperatures which is related by a central limit theorem(1) to the width of the global fluctuations on the appropriate (divergent) length scale. The latter has been computed explicitly(2) for all temperatures below the critical temperatureT c, where it diverges as (T c T)–1/2. We consider general ferromagnetic spin systems with finite range interactions and an even single-spin distribution of compact support on IR. It is shown under mild assumptions on the single-spin distribution that a low temperature expansion, in powers ofT, for the free energy and the correlation functions is asymptotic. We also prove exponential clustering in the pure phases and analyticity of the free energy and of the correlation functions in the reciprocal temperature for Re large.Supported in part by N.S.F. We consider a classical dipole gas in the grand canonical ensemble. We prove that in dimensions greater than or equal to three, and for all temperatures, the free energy and the charges-dipoles correlation functions have an expansion in powers ofz, the fugacity of the system, which is asymptotic to all orders. In this paper we study the 3-state Potts model on the triangular lattice which has two- and three-site interactions. Using a Peierls argument we obtain a rigorous bound on the transition temperature, thereby disproving a conjecture on the location of its critical point. Low-temperature series are generated and analyzed for three particular choices of the coupling constants; a phase diagram is then drawn on the basis of these considerations. Our analysis indicates that the antiferromagnetic transition and the transition along the coexistence line are of first order, implying the existence of a multicritical point in the ferromagnetic region. Relation of the triangularq-state Potts model with other lattice-statistical problems is also discussed. In particular, an Ashkin-Teller model and the hard-hexagon lattice gas solved by Baxter emerge as special cases in appropriate limits.Supported in part by NSF grant No. DMR 78-18808.  相似文献

Using a simple matrix method, we have obtained exact second-order equilibrium moments for a linearly damped harmonic oscillator with a fluctuating frequency (t) and driven by a fluctuating forcef(t). We have assumed each of the fluctuating quantities to be delta-correlated. We demonstrate that the final answers are identical whetherf(t) and (t) are statistically independent or delta-correlated. We have also established the region of parameter space in which the oscillator is energetically stable. We consider a dynamical system consisting of one large massive particle and an infinite number of light point particles. We consider how a vertex operator algebra can be extended to an abelian interwining algebra by a family of weak twisted modules which aresimple currents associated with semisimple weight one primary vectors. In the case that the extension is again a vertex operator algebra, the rationality of the extended algebra is discussed. Time-displaced conditional distribution functions are calculated for an infinite, one-dimensional mixture of equal-mass hard rods of different diameters. The kinetic equation that describes the time dependence of the one-particle total distribution function is found to be non-Markovian, in contrast with the situation in systems of identical rods. The correlation function does not contain any isolated damped oscillation, except for systems of equal-diameter rods with discrete velocities. Thus, we generalize the one-component results of Lebowitz, Perçus, and Sykes, removing some nontypical features of that system.Supported by NSF grant No. MCS 75-21684 A01 (M. We consider thed-dimensional Ising model with a nearest neighbor ferromagnetic interactionJ(d)=1/4d. In this paper we exhibit the Toda lattice equations in a double bracket form which shows they are gradient flow equations (on their isospectral set) on an adjoint orbit of a compact Lie group. Representations for the flows are given and a convexity result associated with a momentum map is proved. We show that the potentialq is uniquely determined by the spectrum, and boundary values of the normal derivatives of the eigenfunctions of the Schrödinger operator –+q with Dirichlet boundary conditions on a bounded domain in n . We establish the existence and uniqueness of radially symmetric self-dual topological vortices in thep=2 members of the hierarchies of (generalised) Chern-Simons Higgs and Abelian Higgs models. We show that any measure on n possessing the Lee-Yang property retains that property when multiplied by a ferromagnetic pair interaction. Newman's Lee-Yang theorem for one-component ferromagnets with general single-spin measure is an immediate consequence. We also prove an analogous result for two-component ferromagnets.
