The design of white‐light phosphors is attractive in solid‐state lighting (SSL) and related fields. A new strategy in obtaining white light emission (WLE) from dual‐way photon energy conversion in a series of dye@MOF ( LIFM‐WZ‐6 ) systems is presented. Besides the traditional UV‐excited one‐photon absorption (OPA) pathway, white‐light modulation can also be gained from the combination of NIR‐excited green and red emissions of MOF backbone and encapsulated dyes via two‐photon absorption (TPA) pathway. As a result, down‐conversion OPA white light was obtained for RhB+@LIFM‐WZ‐6 (0.1 wt %), BR‐2+@LIFM‐WZ‐6 (2 wt %), and APFG+@LIFM‐WZ‐6 (0.1 wt %) samples under 365 nm excitation. RhB+@LIFM‐WZ‐6 (0.05 wt %), BR‐2+@LIFM‐WZ‐6 (1 wt %) and APFG+@LIFM‐WZ‐6 (0.05 wt %) exhibit up‐conversion TPA white light under the excitation of 800, 790, and 730 nm, respectively. This new WLE generation strategy combines different photon energy conversion mechanisms together.  相似文献

Photoremovable protecting groups (PPGs) when conjugated to biological effectors forming “caged compounds” are a powerful means to regulate the action of physiologically active messengers in vivo through 1‐photon excitation (1PE) and 2‐photon excitation (2PE). Understanding the photodeprotection mechanism is important for their physiological use. We compared the quantum efficiencies and product outcomes in different solvent and pH conditions for the photolysis reactions of (8‐chloro‐7‐hydroxyquinolin‐2‐yl)methyl acetate (CHQ‐OAc) and (8‐bromo‐7‐hydroxyquinolin‐2‐yl)methyl acetate (BHQ‐OAc), representatives of the quinoline class of phototriggers for biological use, and conducted nanosecond time‐resolved spectroscopic studies using transient emission (ns‐EM), transient absorption (ns‐TA), transient resonance Raman (ns‐TR2), and time‐resolved resonance Raman (ns‐TR3) spectroscopies. The results indicate differences in the photochemical mechanisms and product outcomes, and reveal that the triplet excited state is most likely on the pathway to the product and that dehalogenation competes with release of acetate from BHQ‐OAc, but not CHQ‐OAc. A high fluorescence quantum yield and a more efficient excited‐state proton transfer (ESPT) in CHQ‐OAc compared to BHQ‐OAc explain the lower quantum efficiency of CHQ‐OAc relative to BHQ‐OAc.  相似文献

Using two different TDDFT methods, we study the role of electronically excited states and two-electron dynamics in high harmonic generation (HHG) of H2. The two methods produce slightly different electronic structures as reflected in the calculated ionization potentials. They nevertheless give similar HHG spectra. The difference between the two methods increases with the laser intensity, while their predictions remain qualitatively consistent. Our results suggest that two-electron dynamics can extend the HHG cutoff. Specifics of such extension depends on the internuclear distance and the laser intensity. We propose an ion excitation plus tunneling ionization mechanism to explain these extensions. The involvement of excited states is further revealed when we analyze each harmonic as a function of the internuclear distance. We see resonant peaks that are due to multiphoton excitation. These peaks exist above the ionization threshold as well.  相似文献

The hydrogen‐evolving photocatalyst [(tbbpy)2Ru(tpphz)Pd(Cl)2]2+ (tbbpy=4,4′‐di‐tert‐butyl‐2,2′‐bipyridine, tpphz=tetrapyrido[3,2‐a:2′,3′‐c:3′′,2′′‐h:2′′′,3′′′‐j]phenazine) shows excitation‐wavelength‐dependent catalytic activity, which has been correlated to the localization of the initial excitation within the coordination sphere. In this contribution the excitation‐wavelength dependence of the early excited‐state relaxation and the occurrence of vibrational coherences are investigated by sub‐20 fs transient absorption spectroscopy and DFT/TDDFT calculations. The comparison with the mononuclear precursor [(tbbpy)2Ru(tpphz)]2+ highlights the influence of the catalytic center on these ultrafast processes. Only in the presence of the second metal center, does the excitation of a 1MLCT state localized on the central part of the tpphz bridge lead to coherent wave‐packet motion in the excited state.  相似文献

Low‐lying excited states of planarly extended nanographenes are investigated using the long‐range corrected (LC) density functional theory (DFT) and the spin‐flip (SF) time‐dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) by exploring the long‐range exchange and double‐excitation correlation effects on the excitation energies, band gaps, and exciton binding energies. Optimizing the geometries of the nanographenes indicates that the long‐range exchange interaction significantly improves the C C bond lengths and amplify their bond length alternations with overall shortening the bond lengths. The calculated TDDFT excitation energies show that long‐range exchange interaction is crucial to provide accurate excitation energies of small nanographenes and dominate the exciton binding energies in the excited states of nanographenes. It is, however, also found that the present long‐range correction may cause the overestimation of the excitation energy for the infinitely wide graphene due to the discrepancy between the calculated band gaps and vertical ionization potential (IP) minus electron affinity (EA) values. Contrasting to the long‐range exchange effects, the SF‐TDDFT calculations show that the double‐excitation correlation effects are negligible in the low‐lying excitations of nanographenes, although this effect is large in the lowest excitation of benzene molecule. It is, therefore, concluded that long‐range exchange interactions should be incorporated in TDDFT calculations to quantitatively investigate the excited states of graphenes, although TDDFT using a present LC functional may provide a considerable excitation energy for the infinitely wide graphene mainly due to the discrepancy between the calculated band gaps and IP–EA values. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

This paper presents experimental and theoretical investigations into excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) in new chromophores with hydroxyl and imino groups under one‐ and two‐photon excitation. The results show that internal hydrogen bonding exhibits a remarkable influence on the maximum absorption wavelength of 2‐[(4′‐N,N‐diethylaminodiphenylethylene‐4‐ylimino)methyl]phenol ( C1 ) and 2‐[(4′‐methoxyl‐diphenylethylene‐4‐ylimino)methyl]phenol ( C3 ). Compounds C1 and C3 exhibit well‐separated dual fluorescence emission bands under one‐ and two‐photon excitation. The second fluorescence peaks of C1 and C3 are characterized by much larger Stokes shift than the first normal peaks (ca. 140 vs. 30 nm). 4‐[(4′‐N,N‐Diethylaminodiphenylethylene‐4‐ylimino)methyl]phenol ( C2 ) and 4‐[(4′‐methoxyldiphenylethylene‐4‐ylimino)methyl]phenol ( C4 ) display single emission bands with small Stokes shifts (ca. 30 nm) in various solvents under one‐ and two‐photon excitation. Furthermore, the first emission maxima of C1 and C3 are almost identical to the maximum fluorescence emission wavelengths of C2 and C4 , respectively. These results show that C1 and C3 can undergo ESIPT via a reasonable six‐membered ring, while there is no ESIPT in C2 and C4 under one‐ and two‐photon excitation. Compounds C1 and C2 have larger two‐photon absorption cross‐sections under various near‐infrared laser frequencies tuned from 700 to 880 nm. Molecular geometry optimization of the phototautomers (enol and keto) was performed to analyze the experimental results. The possibility of using these chromophores for metal ions as chemosensors of was thoroughly investigated. In DMF C3 exhibits excellent sensing responses to Zn2+ and Fe3+ ions through a greatly increased greatly and a largely reduced emission, respectively. In methanol disappearance of ESIPT emission with added Zn2+ ions confirms its existence. The binding constants of C3 with Zn2+ and Fe3+ ions in DMF are also estimated.  相似文献

The synthesis of tris(2‐thenoyltrifluoroacetonate)lanthanide(III) complexes featuring a diethylaminostyryl‐2,2′‐bipyridine coligand was achieved for lanthanum; the near‐infrared (NIR) emitters neodymium, erbium, and ytterbium; and the transition‐metal yttrium. The photophysical properties were thoroughly studied, and it was demonstrated that the conjugated bipyridine ligand acts as a good antenna for the sensitization of the NIR emitters. The two‐photon absorption (TPA) properties of all five complexes were investigated by using both two‐photon excited fluorescence and the Z‐scan method. We demonstrate that the nature of the rare earth ion has almost no influence on the TPA properties centered on the conjugated bipyridyl ligand. Finally, we show that YbIII is sensitized by a two‐photon antenna effect, and that NdIII is mostly sensitized by a one‐photon process involving direct excitation of forbidden f–f transitions.  相似文献

The UV‐induced photochemistry of HCFC‐132b (CF2ClCH2Cl) was investigated by computing excited‐state properties with time‐dependent density functional theory (TDDFT), multiconfigurational second‐order perturbation theory (CASPT2), and coupled cluster with singles, doubles, and perturbative triples (CCSD(T)). Excited states calculated with TDDFT show good agreement with CASPT2 and CCSD(T) results, correctly predicting the main excited‐states properties. Simulations of ultrafast nonadiabatic dynamics in the gas phase were performed, taking into account 25 electronic states at TDDFT level starting in two different spectral windows (8.5 ± 0.25 and 10.0 ± 0.25 eV). Experimental data measured at 123.6 nm (10 eV) is in very good agreement with our simulations. The excited‐state lifetimes are 106 and 191 fs for the 8.5 and 10.0 eV spectral windows, respectively. Internal conversion to the ground state occurred through several different reaction pathways with different products, where 2Cl, C‐Cl bond breakage, and HCl are the main photochemical pathways in the low‐excitation region, representing 95% of all processes. On the other hand, HCl, HF, and C‐Cl bond breakage are the main reaction pathways in the higher excitation region, with 77% of the total yield. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Action spectroscopy has emerged as an analytical tool to probe excited states in the gas phase. Although comparison of gas‐phase absorption properties with quantum‐chemical calculations is, in principle, straightforward, popular methods often fail to describe many molecules of interest—such as xanthene analogues. We, therefore, face their nano‐ and picosecond laser‐induced photofragmentation with excited‐state computations by using the CC2 method and time‐dependent density functional theory (TDDFT). Whereas the extracted absorption maxima agree with CC2 predictions, the TDDFT excitation energies are blueshifted. Lowering the amount of Hartree–Fock exchange in the DFT functional can reduce this shift but at the cost of changing the nature of the excited state. Additional bandwidth observed in the photofragmentation spectra is rationalized in terms of multiphoton processes. Observed fragmentation from higher‐lying excited states conforms to intense excited‐to‐excited state transitions calculated with CC2. The CC2 method is thus suitable for the comparison with photofragmentation in xanthene analogues.  相似文献

The time‐dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) method has been carried out to investigate the excited‐state hydrogen‐bonding dynamics of 4‐aminophthalimide (4AP) in hydrogen‐donating water solvent. The infrared spectra of the hydrogen‐bonded solute?solvent complexes in electronically excited state have been calculated using the TDDFT method. We have demonstrated that the intermolecular hydrogen bond C? O···H? O and N? H···O? H in the hydrogen‐bonded 4AP?(H2O)2 trimer are significantly strengthened in the electronically excited state by theoretically monitoring the changes of the bond lengths of hydrogen bonds and hydrogen‐bonding groups in different electronic states. The hydrogen bonds strengthening in the electronically excited state are confirmed because the calculated stretching vibrational modes of the hydrogen bonding C?O, amino N? H, and H? O groups are markedly red‐shifted upon photoexcitation. The calculated results are consistent with the mechanism of the hydrogen bond strengthening in the electronically excited state, while contrast with mechanism of hydrogen bond cleavage. Furthermore, we believe that the transient hydrogen bond strengthening behavior in electroniclly excited state of chromophores in hydrogen‐donating solvents exists in many other systems in solution. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis of boron difluoride complexes of a series of curcuminoid derivatives containing various donor end groups is described. Time‐dependent (TD)‐DFT calculations confirm the charge‐transfer character of the second lowest‐energy transition band and ascribe the lowest energy band to a “cyanine‐like” transition. Photophysical studies reveal that tuning the donor strength of the end groups allows covering a broad spectral range, from the visible to the NIR region, of the UV–visible absorption and fluorescence spectra. Two‐photon‐excited fluorescence and Z‐scan techniques prove that an increase in the donor strength or in the rigidity of the backbone results in a considerable increase in the two‐photon cross section, reaching 5000 GM, with predominant two‐photon absorption from the S0–S2 charge‐transfer transition. Direct comparisons with the hemicurcuminoid derivatives show that the two‐photon active band for the curcuminoid derivatives has the same intramolecular charge‐transfer character and therefore arises from a dipolar structure. Overall, this structure–relationship study allows the optimization of the two‐photon brightness (i.e., 400–900 GM) with one dye that emits in the NIR region of the spectrum. In addition, these dyes demonstrate high intracellular uptake efficiency in Cos7 cells with emission in the visible region, which is further improved by using porous silica nanoparticles as dye vehicles for the imaging of two mammalian carcinoma cells type based on NIR fluorescence emission.  相似文献

Two‐NIR‐photon‐triggered ZE isomerization of an azobenzene was accomplished by covalently linking a two‐photon‐harvesting triarylamine antenna to a thermally stable ortho‐fluorinated azobenzene derivative. The obtained photoswitch is fully addressable with visible and NIR light by using one‐photon and two‐photon excitation, respectively, with the latter offering enhanced penetration depth and improved spatial resolution.  相似文献

Ultrafast relaxation of electronically excited pure He droplets is investigated by femtosecond time-resolved photoelectron imaging. Droplets are excited by extreme ultraviolet (EUV) pulses with photon energies below 24 eV. Excited states and relaxation products are probed by ionization with an infrared (IR) pulse with 1.6 eV photon energy. An initially excited droplet state decays on a time scale of 220 fs, leading predominantly to the emission of unaligned 1s3d Rydberg atoms. In a second relaxation channel, electronically aligned 1s4p Rydberg atoms are emitted from the droplet within less than 120 fs. The experimental results are described within a model that approximates electronically excited droplet states by localized, atomic Rydberg states perturbed by the local droplet environment in which the atom is embedded. The model suggests that, below 24 eV, EUV excitation preferentially leads to states that are localized in the surface region of the droplet. Electronically aligned 1s4p Rydberg atoms are expected to originate from excitations in the outermost surface regions, while nonaligned 1s3d Rydberg atoms emerge from a deeper surface region with higher local densities. The model is used to simulate the He droplet EUV absorption spectrum in good agreement with previously reported fluorescence excitation measurements.  相似文献

The near‐infrared (NIR) luminescence efficiency of lanthanide complexes is largely dependent on the electronic and photophysical properties of antenna ligands. Although porphyrin ligands are efficient sensitizers of lanthanide NIR luminescence, non‐pyrrolic porphyrin analogues, which have unusual symmetry and electronic states, have been much less studied. In this work, we used porpholactones, a class of β‐pyrrolic‐modified porphyrins, as ligands and investigated the photophysical properties of lanthanide porpholactones Yb‐1 a – 5 a . Compared with Yb porphyrin complexes, the porpholactone complexes displayed remarkable enhancement of NIR emission (50–120 %). Estimating the triplet‐state levels of porphyrin and porpholactone in Gd complexes revealed that β‐lactonization of porphyrinic ligands lowers the ligand T1 state and results in a narrow energy gap between this state and the lowest excited state of Yb3+. Transient absorption spectra showed that YbIII porpholactone has a longer transient decay lifetime at the Soret band than the porphyrin analogue (30.8 versus 17.0 μs). Thus, the narrower energy gap and longer lifetime arising from β‐lactonization are assumed to enhance NIR emission of Yb porpholactones. To demonstrate the potential applications of Yb porpholactone, a water‐soluble Yb bioprobe was constructed by conjugating glucose to Yb ‐ 1 a . Interestingly, the NIR emission of this Yb porpholactone could be specifically switched on in the presence of glucose oxidase and then switched off by addition of glucose. This is the first demonstration that non‐pyrrolic porphyrin ligands enhance the sensitization efficiency of lanthanide luminescence and also display switchable NIR emission in the region of biological analytes (800–1400 nm).  相似文献

In multiphoton excited fluorescence (MPEF), high‐energy upconversion emission is obtained from low‐energy excitation by absorbance of two or more photons simultaneously. In a pressure‐induced fluorochromic process, the emission energy is switched by outer pressure stimuli. Now, five metal–organic frameworks containing the same ligand with simultaneous multiphoton absorption and pressure‐induced fluorochromic attributes were studied. One‐, two‐, and three‐photon excited fluorescence (1/2/3PEF) can be achieved in the frameworks, which exhibit pressure‐induced blue‐to‐yellow fluorochromism. The performances are closely dependent with the topologies, flexibilities, and packing states of the frameworks and chromophores therein. The multiphoton upconversion performance can be intensified by pressure‐related structural contraction. Over ten‐fold increment in the 2PA active cross‐section up to 2217 GM is achieved in pressed LIFM‐114 compared with the 210 GM for pristine sample at 780 nm.  相似文献

The effect of the catalytic moiety on the early‐time photodynamics of Ru/M (M=Pt or Pd) bimetallic photocatalysts is studied by ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy. In comparison to the Ru/Pd photocatalyst described earlier, the Ru/Pt analogue shows complex excited‐state dynamics with three distinct kinetic components ranging from sub‐ps to 102 ps, requiring a more sophisticated photophysical model than that developed earlier for the Ru/Pd complex. In the Pu/Pt photocatalyst, an additional lower‐lying excited state is proposed to quench the hot higher‐lying triplet metal‐to‐ligand charge‐transfer states. Furthermore, a strong excitation wavelength dependence on the population of excited states is observed for both the Ru/Pt and Ru/Pd complexes, indicating a non‐equilibrated distribution even on the 102 ps timescale. These insights shed light on the significant impact of the catalytic moiety on the fundamental early‐time photophysics of Ru‐based photocatalysts.  相似文献

The photophysical and nonlinear optical properties of water‐soluble chromophore‐functionalised tris‐dipicolinate complexes [LnL3]3? (Ln=Yb and Nd) are thoroughly studied, revealing that only the YbIII luminescence can be sensitized by a two‐photon excitation process. The stability of the complex in water is strongly enhanced by embedding in dispersible organosilicate nanoparticles (NPs). Finally, the spectroscopic properties of [NBu4]3[YbL3] are studied in solution and in the solid state. The high brightness of the NPs allows imaging them as single objects using a modified two‐photon microscopy setup in a NIR‐to‐NIR configuration.  相似文献

Transient absorption spectroscopy is used to study the excited‐state dynamics of Co3(dpa)4(NCS)2, where dpa is the ligand di(2‐pyridyl)amido. The ππ*, charge‐transfer, and d–d transition states are excited upon irradiation at wavelengths of 330, 400 and 600 nm, respectively. Similar transient spectra are observed under the experimental temporal resolution and the transient species show weak absorption. We thus propose that a low‐lying metal‐centered d–d state is accessed immediately after excitation. Analyses of the experimental kinetic traces reveal rapid conversion from the ligand‐centered ππ* and the charge‐transfer states to this metal‐centered d‐d state within 100 fs. The excited molecule then crosses to a second d–d state within the ligand‐field manifold, with a time coefficient of 0.6–1.4 ps. Because the ground‐state bleaching band recovers with a time coefficient of 10–23 ps, we propose that an excited molecule crosses from the low‐lying d–d state either directly within the same spin system or with spin crossing via the state 2B to the ground state 2A2 (symmetry group C4). In this trimetal string complex, relaxation to the ground electronic surface after excitation is thus rapid.  相似文献

The synthesis, crystal and electronic structures, and one‐ and two‐photon absorption properties of two quadrupolar fluorenyl‐substituted tetraphenyl carbo‐benzenes are described. These all‐hydrocarbon chromophores, differing in the nature of the linkers between the fluorenyl substituents and the carbo‐benzene core (C?C bonds for 3 a , C?C?C?C expanders for 3 b ), exhibit quasi–superimposable one‐photon absorption (1PA) spectra but different two‐photon absorption (2PA) cross‐sections σ2PA. Z‐scan measurements (under NIR femtosecond excitation) indeed showed that the C?C expansion results in an approximately twofold increase in the σ2PA value, from 336 to 656 GM (1 GM=10?50 cm4 s molecule?1 photon?1) at λ=800 nm. The first excited states of Au and Ag symmetry accounting for 1PA and 2PA, respectively, were calculated at the TDDFT level of theory and used for sum‐over‐state estimations of σ2PA(λi), in which λi=2 hc/Ei, h is Planck’s constant, c is the speed of light, and Ei is the energy of the 2PA‐allowed transition. The calculated σ2PA values of 227 GM at 687 nm for 3 a and 349 GM at 708 nm for 3 b are in agreement with the Z‐scan results.  相似文献

Based on a donor–acceptor framework, several conjugates have been designed and prepared in which an electron‐donor moiety, ytterbium(III) porphyrinate (YbPor), was linked through an ethynyl bridge to an electron‐acceptor moiety, boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY). Photoluminescence studies demonstrated efficient energy transfer from the BODIPY moiety to the YbPor counterpart. When conjugated with the YbPor moiety, the BODIPY moiety served as an antenna to harvest the lower‐energy visible light, subsequently transferring its energy to the YbPor counterpart, and, consequently, sensitizing the YbIII emission in the near‐infrared (NIR) region with a quantum efficiency of up to 0.73 % and a lifetime of around 40 μs. Moreover, these conjugates exhibited large two‐photon‐absorption cross‐sections that ranged from 1048–2226 GM and strong two‐photon‐induced NIR emission.  相似文献
