Let X be a Banach space and let fL(R+;X) whose Laplace transform extends analytically to some region containing iR?{0}, possibly having a pole at the origin. In this paper, we give estimates of the decay of certain slight suitable modification of f in terms of the growth of its Laplace transform along the imaginary axis. This technique is applied to obtain decay estimates of smooth orbits of bounded C0-semigroups whose infinitesimal generators have an arbitrary finite boundary spectrum. These results are close to those given recently by C.J.K. Batty and T. Duyckaerts.  相似文献

Let G be a second-countable locally-compact Hausdorff groupoid with a Haar system, and let {xn} be a sequence in the unit space G(0) of G. We show that the notions of strength of convergence of {xn} in the orbit space G(0)/G and measure-theoretic accumulation along the orbits are equivalent ways of realising multiplicity numbers associated to a sequence of induced representation of the groupoid C?-algebra.  相似文献

In this paper we shall study Hardy spaces of analytic functions in a strip S. Our main result is on one hand an intrinsic characterization of the spaces and on the second that polynomials are dense. We also present an orthogonal (in H2(S)) basis of polynomials.  相似文献

A remarkable and much cited result of Bram [J. Bram, Subnormal operators, Duke Math. J. 22 (1955) 75-94] shows that a star-cyclic bounded normal operator in a separable Hilbert space has a cyclic vector. If, in addition, the operator is multiplication by the variable in a space L2(m) (not only unitarily equivalent to it), then it has a cyclic vector in L(m). We extend Bram's result to the case of a general unbounded normal operator, implying by this that the (classical) multiplicity and the multicyclicity of the operator (cf. [N.K. Nikolski, Operators, Functions and Systems: An Easy Reading, vol. 2, Math. Surveys Monogr., vol. 93, Amer. Math. Soc., Providence, 2002]) coincide. It follows that if m is a sigma-finite Borel measure on C (possibly with noncompact support), then there is a nonnegative finite Borel measure τ equivalent to m and such that L2(C,τ) is the norm-closure of the polynomials in z.  相似文献

We construct a family of essential representations of an arbitrary product system by generalizing some techniques introduced by M. Skeide and W. Arveson. We then classify the resulting E0-semigroups up to conjugacy, by identifying their tail flows as periodic W-dynamical systems acting on factors of type I. The conjugacy classes of these E0-semigroups correspond to the orbits of the action of the automorphism group of the product system on unital vectors. In the sequel, this classification shows explicitly that any E0-semigroup admits uncountably many non-conjugate cocycle perturbations.  相似文献

In this paper, the solution of the nonlinear evolution inclusion problem of the form u(t)+B(t,u(t))∋f(t) is studied. In this problem, the operators are of type (M) or type (S+), which are different from those of pseudo-monotone operators that had been studied by many authors. At the same time, we study the perturbation problem. In fact, many kinds of evolution equations can be generalized by this problem. The former results are improved and generalized by our conclusions, and we will give more applications.  相似文献

By a ball-covering B of a Banach space X, we mean that B is a collection of open (or closed) balls off the origin whose union contains the unit sphere SX of X; and X is said to have the ball-covering property (BCP) provided it admits a ball-covering by countably many balls. In this note we give a natural example showing that the ball-covering property of a Banach space is not inherited by its subspaces; and we present a sharp quantitative version of the recent Fonf and Zanco renorming result saying that if the dual X of X is w separable, then for every ε>0 there exist a (1+ε)-equivalent norm on X, and an R>0 such that in this new norm SX admits a ball-covering by countably many balls of radius R. Namely, we show that R=R(ε) can be taken arbitrarily close to (1+ε)/ε, and that for X=?1[0,1] the corresponding R cannot be equal to 1/ε. This gives the sharp order of magnitude for R(ε) as ε→0.  相似文献

For a measurable space (Ω,A), let ?(A) be the closure of span{χA:AA} in ?(Ω). In this paper we show that a sufficient and necessary condition for a real-valued finitely additive measure μ on (Ω,A) to be countably additive is that the corresponding functional ?μ defined by (for x?(A)) is w*-sequentially continuous. With help of the Yosida-Hewitt decomposition theorem of finitely additive measures, we show consequently that every continuous functional on ?(A) can be uniquely decomposed into the ?1-sum of a w*-continuous functional, a purely w*-sequentially continuous functional and a purely (strongly) continuous functional. Moreover, several applications of the results to measure extension are given.  相似文献

Positive Quaternion Kähler Manifolds are Riemannian manifolds with holonomy contained in Sp(n)Sp(1) and with positive scalar curvature. Conjecturally, they are symmetric spaces. In this article we are mainly concerned with Positive Quaternion Kähler Manifolds M satisfying b4(M)=1. Generalising a result of Galicki and Salamon we prove that M4n in this case is homothetic to a quaternionic projective space if 2≠n?6.  相似文献

In this paper we present some regularity results for solutions to the system −Δu=σ(u)2|∇φ|, div(σ(u)∇φ)=0 in the case where σ(u) is allowed to oscillate between 0 and a positive number as u→∞. This paper concerns the regularity of a functional differential equation in the form: , t>0, where A is the generator of an analytic semigroup on a Banach space X, and B1,B2 are α(γA)-bounded linear operator for 0<α<1. We consider the symmetric schemes in Boundary Value Methods (BVMs) applied to delay differential equations y(t)=ay(t)+by(t-τ) with real coefficients a and b. If the numerical solution tends to zero whenever the exact solution does, the symmetric scheme with (k1+m,k2)-boundary conditions is called τk1,k2(0)-stable. Three families of symmetric schemes, namely the Extended Trapezoidal Rules of first (ETRs) and second (ETR2s) kind, and the Top Order Methods (TOMs), are considered in this paper.By using the boundary locus technology, the delay-dependent stability region of the symmetric schemes are analyzed and their boundaries are found. Then by using a necessary and sufficient condition, the considered symmetric schemes are proved to be τν,ν-1(0)-stable.  相似文献

We continue our work (Y. Li, C. Zhao, Locating the peaks of least-energy solutions to a quasilinear elliptic Neumann problem, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 336 (2007) 1368-1383) to study the shape of least-energy solutions to the quasilinear problem εmΔmuum−1+f(u)=0 with homogeneous Neumann boundary condition. In this paper we focus on the case 1<m<2 as a complement to our previous work on the case m≥2. We use an intrinsic variation method to show that as the case m≥2, when ε→0+, the global maximum point Pε of least-energy solutions goes to a point on the boundary Ω at a rate of o(ε) and this point on the boundary approaches a global maximum point of mean curvature of Ω.  相似文献

Let D be a directed graph; the (l,ω)-Independence Number of graph D, denoted by αl,ω(D), is an important performance parameter for interconnection networks. De Bruijn networks and Kautz networks, denoted by B(d,n) and K(d,n) respectively, are versatile and efficient topological structures of interconnection networks. For l=1,2,…,n, this paper shows that αl,d−1(B(d,n))=dn,αl,d−1(K(d,n))=αl,d(K(d,n))=dn+dn−1 if d≥3 and nd−2. In particular, the paper shows the exact value of the Independence Number for B(d,1) and B(d,2) for any d. For the generalized situation, the paper obtains a lower bound αl,d−1(B(d,n))≥d2 if n≥3 and d≥5.  相似文献

If (Σ,X) is a measurable space and X a Banach space we investigate the X-inheritance of copies of ? in certain subspaces Δ(Σ,X) of bvca(Σ,X), the Banach space of all X-valued countable additive measures of bounded variation equipped with the variation norm. Among the consequences of our main theorem we get a theorem of J. Mendoza on the X-inheritance of copies of ? in the Bochner space L1(μ,X) and other of the author on the X-inheritance of copies of ? in bvca(Σ,X).  相似文献

We prove that for every graph H with the minimum degree δ?5, the third iterated line graph L3(H) of H contains as a minor. Using this fact we prove that if G is a connected graph distinct from a path, then there is a number kG such that for every i?kG the i-iterated line graph of G is -linked. A path bundle is a set of 2a paths in an n-cube, denoted Qn, such that every path has the same length, the paths partition the vertices of Qn, the endpoints of the paths induce two subcubes of Qn, and the endpoints of each path are complements. This paper considers the solution of weighted interpolation problems in model subspaces of the Hardy space H2 that are canonically isometric to Paley-Wiener spaces of analytic functions. A new necessary and sufficient condition is given on the set of interpolation points which guarantees that a solution in H2 can be transferred to a solution in a model space. The techniques used rely on the reproducing kernel thesis for Hankel operators, which is given here with an explicit constant. One of the applications of this work is to the finite-time controllability of diagonal systems specified by a C0 semigroup.  相似文献
