We have recorded spectra involving the 3-1, 4-2, 2-0, and 2-2 bands of the C" 5Pi(ui)-A' (5)Sigma+(g) electronic system of N(2) using optogalvanic detection in a discharge through a supersonic jet expansion of argon mixed with a trace of nitrogen gas. The spectra have an effective rotational temperature of about 45 K. They involve all five spin-orbit components of the C" 5Pi(ui) state, which has allowed for precise determination of the spin-orbit coupling in this state. Analysis of the C" 5Pi(ui) state Lambda-doubling shows that it is caused primarily by a first-order spin-spin effect rather than by interaction with Sigma(u) (+/-) states. Our results allow us to assign lines in the 4-2 and 2-0 bands observed in a fluorescence depletion experiment conducted over ten years ago [Ch. Ottinger and A. F. Vilesov, J. Chem. Phys. 103, 9929 (1995)], and to comment on the suggestion that perturbations to the C (3)Pi(u) v=1 level of N(2) arise from interactions with the C" 5Pi(ui) state.  相似文献

The spin-orbit (A = -16.4 cm(-1)) and rotational (B = 1.017 cm(-1)) constants for the N2 C" 5Pi(ui)(v = 3) level are determined by a fit to rotational lines in the C" 5Pi(u)-A' 5Sigma(g)+(3-1) band that terminate in J'Omega' = 3(3), 4(3), 3(2), and 4(2) levels of the C" state. The C"-state spin-orbit constant is consistent with semi-empirical estimates, based on spin-orbit constants observed in several other electronic states of N2 and the atomic spin-orbit coupling constant, zeta(N 2p). The C"-A' bands exhibit the unusual feature of oppositely degraded sub-band heads, Omega' = 3 (red) and Omega' = 1, 0, and -1 (blue). The unusually wide range of B(Omega)eff values, from 0.85 cm(-1) (Omega = 3) to 1.28 cm(-1) (Omega = -1) for C" 5Pi(v = 3) should be diagnostically useful for Omega'-assignments. The C" 5Pi(v = 3) level lies 14257.17 and 90599 cm(-1) above A' 5Sigma(g)+(v = 1) and X 1Sigma(g)+(v = 0), respectively, and Re(C" 5Pi) = 1.50 A.  相似文献

A two-dimensional fluorescence (excitation/emission) spectrum of C2 produced in an acetylene discharge was used to identify and separate emission bands from the d (3)Pi(g)<--c (3)Sigma(u) (+) and d (3)Pi(g)<--a (3)Pi(u) excitations. Rotationally resolved excitation spectra of the (4<--1), (5<--1), (5<--2), and (7<--3) bands in the d (3)Pi(g)<--c (3)Sigma(u) (+) system of C2 were observed by laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy. The molecular constants of each vibrational level, determined from rotational analysis, were used to calculate the spectroscopic constants of the c (3)Sigma(u) (+) state. The principal molecular constants for the c (3)Sigma(u) (+) state are B(e)=1.9319(19) cm(-1), alpha(e)=0.018 55(69) cm(-1), omega(e)=2061.9 cm(-1), omega(e)x(e)=14.84 cm(-1), and T(0)(c-a)=8662.925(3) cm(-1). We report also the first experimental observations of dispersed fluorescence from the d (3)Pi(g) state to the c (3)Sigma(u) (+) state, namely, d (3)Pi(g)(v=3)-->c (3)Sigma(u) (+)(v=0,1).  相似文献

The Renner-Teller effect in C(2)H(2)(+)(X(2)Pi(u)) has been studied by using zero kinetic energy (ZEKE) photoelectron spectroscopy and coherent extreme ultraviolet (XUV) radiation. The rotationally resolved vibronic spectra have been recorded for energies up to 2000 cm(-1) above the ground vibrational state. The C triple bond C symmetric stretching (upsilon(2)), the CCH trans bending (upsilon(4)), and the CCH cis bending (upsilon(5)) vibrational excitations have been observed. The assigned vibronic bands are 4(1)(1)(kappa(2)Sigma(u)(+))(hot band), 4(1)(0)(mu/kappa(2)Sigma (u)(-/+)), 5(1)(0)(mu/kappa(2)Sigma (g)(+/-)), and 4(2)(0)(mu(2)Pi(u)), 4(2)(0)(kappa(2)Pi(u)), 4(1)(0)5(1)(0) (mu(2)Pi(g)), 0(0)(0)(X(2)Pi(u)), and 2(1)(0)(X(2)Pi(u)). The Renner-Teller parameters, the harmonic frequencies, the spin-orbit coupling constants, and the rotational constants for the corresponding vibronic bands have been determined by fitting the spectra with energy eigenvalues from the Hamiltonian that considers simultaneously Renner-Teller coupling, vibrational energies, rotational energies, and spin-orbit coupling interaction.  相似文献

Line oscillator strengths in 16 electric dipole-allowed bands of 14N2 in the 93.5-99.5 nm (106,950-100,500 cm(-1)) region have been measured at an instrumental resolution of 6.5 x 10(-4) nm (0.7 cm(-1)). The transitions terminate on vibrational levels of the 3psigma 1Sigma u (+), 3ppi 1Pi u, and 3ssigma 1Pi u Rydberg states and of the b' 1Sigma u (+) and b 1Pi u valence states. The J dependences of band f values derived from the experimental line f values are reported as polynomials in J'(J'+1) and are extrapolated to J'=0 in order to facilitate comparisons with results of coupled-Schrodinger-equation calculations that do not take into account rotational interactions. Most bands in this study reveal a marked J dependence of the f values and/or display anomalous P-, Q- and R-branch intensity patterns. These patterns should help inform future spectroscopic models that incorporate rotational effects, and these are critical for the construction of realistic atmospheric radiative transfer models. Linewidth measurements are reported for four bands. Information provided by the J dependences of the experimental linewidths should be of use in the development of a more complete understanding of the predissociation mechanisms in N2.  相似文献

The A3Pi1u<--X1Sigmag+ photoacoustic spectrum of Br2 vapor has been studied and vibronic analysis performed using earlier data available for this system of bands from optical spectroscopy in the region 665-720 nm. The vibronic levels involved in these transitions are 4< or =v'< or =21 and 1< or =v'< or =4. The relative photoacoustic intensities of the vibronic bands have been used in estimating the non-radiative relaxation rate from vibrational levels of A3Pi(1u) state. The non-radiative relaxation is found to be a nonlinear function of the upper state vibrational quantum number. The radiative rate constants for the A3Pi(1u) state vibrational levels have been compared with the corresponding non-radiative constants obtained from present work. Non-radiative decay rate constants for the vibrational levels of A3Pi(1u) state have been experimentally determined for the first time from photoacoustic spectrum of Br2 vapor in the extreme red region.  相似文献

We have measured the photodissociation spectrum of CH(+) and CD(+) molecular ions, stored as fast (MeV) ion beams in the heavy-ion storage ring TSR. Several b (3)Sigma(-)-a (3)Pi bands were observed as strong resonances because a large fraction of the ions in the metastable a (3)Pi(v=0) state were pumped to b (3)Sigma(-) levels and predissociated via the c (3)Sigma(+) state into C(+) and H(D) fragments. From a rotational analysis of the 2-0, 3-0, and 4-0 bands in CH(+) and the 3-0 and 4-0 bands in CD(+), we derive spectroscopic constants for these levels and also revise a previous analysis of the 0-0 and 1-0 bands in CH(+). Combining all data delivers new, significantly adjusted equilibrium constants for the b (3)Sigma(-) and a (3)Pi electronic states. Apart from the spectroscopic analysis, we estimate the predissociation rates of the upper b (3)Sigma(-) vibrational levels in CH(+) and compare them to a model. For the initial rovibrational distribution of the stored metastable CH(+) molecules, the data indicate a faster vibrational cooling than derived before, and rotational cooling at a rate similar to the X (1)Sigma(+) ground state. New aspects of the spin-forbidden a (3)Pi-X (1)Sigma(+) radiative decay are discussed. Finally, we predict b (3)Sigma(-)-a (3)Pi absorption and a (3)Pi-X (1)Sigma(+) emission lines through which CH(+) in the metastable a (3)Pi(v=0) state might be detectable in astrophysical environments.  相似文献

Separate coupled-channel Schr?dinger-equation (CSE) models of the interacting (1)Pi(u) (b,c,o) and (3)Pi(u) (C,C(')) states of N(2) are combined, through the inclusion of spin-orbit interactions, to produce a five-channel CSE model of the N(2) predissociation. Comparison of the model calculations with an experimental database, consisting principally of detailed new measurements of the vibrational and isotopic dependence of the (1)Pi(u) linewidths and lifetimes, provides convincing evidence that the predissociation of the lowest (1)Pi(u) levels in N(2) is primarily an indirect process, involving spin-orbit coupling between the b (1)Pi(u)- and C (3)Pi(u)-state levels, the latter levels themselves heavily predissociated electrostatically by the C(') (3)Pi(u) continuum. The well-known large width of the b(v=3) level in (14)N(2) is caused by an accidental degeneracy with C(v=9). This CSE model provides the first quantitative explanation of the predissociation mechanism for the dipole-accessible (1)Pi(u) states of N(2), and is thus likely to prove useful in the construction of realistic radiative-transfer and photochemical models for nitrogen-rich planetary atmospheres.  相似文献

Laser-induced fluorescence spectrum of NiI in the near infrared region of 714-770 nm has been recorded. Seven bands belonging to three electronic transition systems were observed and analyzed: the (0,0), (1,0), and (2,0) bands of [13.3] (2)Sigma(+)-A (2)Pi(3/2) system; the (1,1) and (0,1) bands of [13.9] (2)Pi(3/2)-X (2)Delta(5/2) system; and the (0,0) and (1,0) bands of [13.9] (2)Pi(3/2)-A (2)Pi(3/2) system. Spectra of isotopic molecules confirmed the vibrational quantum number assignment of the observed bands. Least-squares fit of rotationally resolved transition lines yielded accurate molecular constants for the v=0-2 levels of the [13.3] (2)Sigma(+) state, the v=0 level of the A (2)Pi(3/2), and the v=1 level of the X (2)Delta(5/2) state. The vibrational separation, DeltaG(1/2), of the ground state was measured to be 276.674 cm(-1). With the observation of the [13.9] (2)Pi(3/2)-A (2)Pi(3/2) and [13.9] (2)Pi(3/2)-X (2)Delta(5/2) transitions, we accurately determined the energy separation between the A (2)Pi(3/2) and the X (2)Delta(5/2) to be 163.847 cm(-1). This confirms that the order of the A (2)Pi(3/2) and X (2)Delta(5/2) states in NiI is reversed when compared with other nickel monohalides.  相似文献

The infrared (IR)-vacuum ultraviolet (VUV)-pulsed field ionization-photoelectron (IR-VUV-PFI-PE) spectrum for C2H4(X1A(g), v11 = 1, N'(Ka'Kc') = 3(03)) in the VUV range of 83,000-84,800 cm(-1) obtained using a single mode infrared laser revealed 24 rotationally resolved vibrational bands for the ion C2H4(+)(X2B(3u)) ground state. The frequencies and symmetry of the vibrational bands thus determined, together with the anharmonic frequency predictions calculated at the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVQZ level, have allowed the unambiguous assignment of these vibrational bands. These bands are mostly combination bands. The measured frequencies of these bands yield the fundamental frequencies for v8+ = 1103 +/- 10 cm(-1) and v10+ = 813 +/- 10 cm(-1) of C2H4(+)(X2B(3u)), which have not been determined previously. The present IR-VUV-PFI-PE study also provides truly rovibrationally selected and resolved state-to-state cross sections for the photoionization transitions C2H4(X1A(g); v11, N'(Ka'Kc')) --> C2H4(+)(X2B(3u); vi+, N+(Ka+Kc+)), where N'(Ka'Kc') denotes the rotational level of C2H4(X1A(g); v11), and vi+ and N+(Ka+Kc+) represent the vibrational and rotational states of the cation.  相似文献

Line oscillator strengths in the 20 electric dipole-allowed bands of (14)N(2) in the 89.7-93.5 nm (111480-106950 cm(-1)) region are reported from photoabsorption measurements at an instrumental resolution of approximately 6 mA (0.7 cm(-1)) full width at half maximum. The absorption spectrum comprises transitions to vibrational levels of the 3p sigma(u) c(4)' (1)Sigma(u)(+), 3p pi(u) c(3) (1)Pi(u), and 3s sigma(g) o(3) (1)Pi(u) Rydberg states and of the b' (1)Sigma(u)(+) and b (1)Pi(u) valence states. The J dependences of band f values derived from the experimental line f values are reported as polynomials in J'(J'+1) and are extrapolated to J'=0 in order to facilitate comparisons with results of coupled Schrodinger-equation calculations. Most bands in this study are characterized by a strong J dependence of the band f values and display anomalous P-, Q-, and R-branch intensity patterns. Predissociation line widths, which are reported for 11 bands, also exhibit strong J dependences. The f value and line width patterns can inform current efforts to develop comprehensive spectroscopic models that incorporate rotational effects and predissociation mechanisms, and they are critical for the construction of realistic atmospheric radiative-transfer models.  相似文献

Laser induced fluorescence spectra of the NC(3)O radical in a supersonic jet have been observed. The radical was produced in a pulsed electric discharge of HC(3)N and O(2) diluted to 0.3% with Ar. A total of 17 vibronic bands with a radiative lifetime of approximately 30 ns have been observed in a region from 27 000 to 27 500 cm(-1). The observed vibronic bands are classified as (2)Pi(12)-(2)Pi(12), (2)Pi(32)-(2)Pi(32), and (2)Sigma-(2)Sigma types. The upper states of the (2)Sigma-(2)Sigma bands have large spin-rotation constants, which should be denoted as Sigma((+)) and Sigma((-)). From high-level ab initio calculations and rotational analyses, the observed transition was assigned to the B (2)Pi-X (2)A(") transition. Dispersed fluorescence spectra from the upper (2)Sigma and (2)Pi vibronic levels have also been observed, yielding fundamental vibrational frequencies for the nu(1), nu(2), nu(3), and nu(7) modes of the ground state.  相似文献

Photofragment yield spectra and NO(X(2)Pi(1/2,3/2); v = 1, 2, 3) product vibrational, rotational, and spin-orbit state distributions were measured following NO dimer excitation in the 4000-7400 cm(-1) region in a molecular beam. Photofragment yield spectra were obtained by monitoring NO(X(2)Pi; v = 1, 2, 3) dissociation products via resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization. New bands that include the symmetric nu(1) and asymmetric nu(5) NO stretch modes were observed and assigned as 3nu(5), 2nu(1) + nu(5), nu(1) + 3nu(5), and 3nu(1) + nu(5). Dissociation occurs primarily via Deltav = -1 processes with vibrational energy confined preferentially to one of the two NO fragments. The vibrationally excited fragments are born with less rotational energy than predicted statistically, and fragments formed via Deltav = -2 processes have a higher rotational temperature than those produced via Deltav = -1 processes. The rotational excitation likely derives from the transformation of low-lying bending and torsional vibrational levels in the dimer into product rotational states. The NO spin-orbit state distribution reveals a slight preference for the ground (2)Pi(1/2) state, and in analogy with previous results, it is suggested that the predominant channel is X(2)Pi(1/2) + X(2)Pi(3/2). It is suggested that the long-range potential in the N-N coordinate is the locus of nonadiabatic transitions to electronic states correlating with excited product spin-orbit states. No evidence of direct excitation to electronic states whose vertical energies lie in the investigated energy region is obtained.  相似文献

We have investigated the RbCs 640 nm system by mass-resolved resonance enhanced two-photon ionization in a cold molecular beam. Very complex vibronic structures were observed between 15420 and 15990 cm (-1). The parallel transitions of 2 (3)Pi 0 v' = 4-20 <-- X (1)Sigma (+) v' = 0 were identified by rotationally resolved spectra. Molecular constants and a Rydberg-Klein-Rees potential energy curve of the 2 (3)Pi 0 state were determined. The regular vibrational spacing of the parallel transition indicated that the 2 (3)Pi 0 state is not significantly perturbed by nearby excited electronic states. The complexity of the observed vibronic structures has been attributed to the coupled perpendicular transitions of 2 (1)Pi, 2 (3)Pi 1, and 3 (3)Sigma 1 (+) <-- X (1)Sigma (+) v' = 0. For the perpendicular bands observed in the lower-energy spectral region between 15420 and 15630 cm (-1) where the onsets of the 2 (3)Pi 1 and 3 (3)Sigma 1 (+) <-- X (1)Sigma (+) transitions are located, the upper electronic states and the vibrational quantum numbers were assigned. Perturbations of 2 (3)Pi 1-3 (3)Sigma 1 (+) and 2 (1)Pi-3 (3)Sigma 1 (+) have been identified by the observed level shifts.  相似文献

The potential energy curves and spectroscopic constants of the ground and 32 low-lying electronic states of ZrC have been studied by employing multireference configuration interaction methods, in conjunction with relativistic effective core potentials and 5s3p3d1f, 3s3p1d basis sets con Zr and C, respectively. We have determined that the ground state is (3)Sigma(+). However there are two low-lying (1)Sigma(+) states (below 5000 cm(-1)) which strongly interact resulting in avoided crossings. The lowest (1)Sigma(+) state corresponds to a combination of 1sigma(2) Xsigma(2) 1pi(4) configurations whereas the second is an open shell singlet 1sigma(2) 2sigma(1) 3sigma(1) 1pi(4). Several avoided crossings were observed, for (1)Pi, (3)Pi, (1)Delta, (3)Sigma(+), and (3)Delta states. We have identified (3)Pi and (1)Pi lying at 4367 and 5797 cm(-1), respectively. The results are in good agreement with the recent experimental findings of Rixon et al. [J. Mol. Spectrosc. 228, 554 (2004)], and indicate that the (3)Pi-(3)Sigma(+), and (1)Pi-(1)Sigma(+), bands located between 16 000-19 000 cm(-1) are extremely complex due to near degeneracy of several (1)Pi and (3)Pi states. We also have identified a (1)Sigma(+) state in the same region that may interfere with the (1)Pi emission bands. The present results not only shed further light into the spectra of ZrC but also predict yet to be observed systems.  相似文献

The CH3(X2A1)+SH(X2Pi) channel of the photodissociation of CH3SH has been investigated at several wavelengths in the first 1 1A"<--X 1A' and second 2 1A"<--X1A' absorption bands by means of velocity map imaging of the CH3 fragment. A fast highly anisotropic (beta=-1+/-0.1) CH3(X2A1) signal has been observed in the images at all the photolysis wavelengths studied, which is consistent with a direct dissociation process from an electronically excited state by cleavage of the C-S bond in the parent molecule. From the analysis of the CH3 images, vibrational populations of the SH(X2Pi) counterfragment have been extracted. In the second absorption band, the SH fragment is formed with an inverted vibrational distribution as a consequence of the forces acting in the crossing from the bound 2 1A" second excited state to the unbound 1 1A" first excited state. The internal energy of the SH radical increases as the photolysis wavelength decreases. In the case of photodissociation via the first excited state, the direct production of CH3 leaves the SH counterfragment with little internal excitation. Moreover, at the longer photolysis wavelengths corresponding to excitation to the 1 1A" state, a slower anisotropic CH3 channel has been observed (beta=-0.8+/-0.1) consistent with a two step photodissociation process, where the first step corresponds to the production of CH3S(X2E) radicals via cleavage of the S-H bond in CH3SH, followed by photodissociation of the nascent CH3S radicals yielding CH3(X2A1)+S(X3P0,1,2).  相似文献

We have recorded several rovibronic bands of CH3OO and CD3OO in their A<--X transitions in the range of 1.18-1.40 microm with the cavity ringdown technique. While the electronic origins for these species have been reported previously, many newly observed rovibronic bands are described here. The experimental vibrational frequencies (given as nu in the unit cm(-1) in this paper) for the COO bending (nu8) and COO symmetric stretching (nu7) modes in the A state are 378 and 887 cm(-1) for CH3OO, and 348 and 824 cm(-1) for CD3OO, respectively. In addition, two other vibrational frequencies were observed for the A state of CD3OO, namely, nu5 (954 cm(-1)) and nu6 (971 cm(-1)). These experimental vibrational frequencies for the A state of both CH3OO and CD3OO are in good agreement with predictions from quantum-chemical calculations at the UB3LYP/aug-cc-pVTZ level. The enhanced activity of the nu5 vibrational mode in CD3OO is rationalized by mode mixing with the nu7 mode, as supported by calculations of multidimensional Franck-Condon factors. In addition, many hot bands involving the methyl torsional mode (nu12) are observed for both normal and deuterated methyl peroxy. These bands include the "typical" sequence transitions and some "atypical" ones due to the nature of the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions which are a consequence of the low, but very different, torsional barriers in the X and A states. In addition, the 12(2)2 band in CH3OO and the 12(3)3 band in CD3OO show quite different structures than the origin bands, an effect which results from tunneling splittings comparable to the rotational contour.  相似文献

The GaO and GaO2 molecules were investigated using negative ion photoelectron spectroscopy. All the photoelectron spectra showed vibrationally resolved progressions. With the aid of electronic structure calculations and Franck-Condon spectral simulations, different molecular parameters and energetics of GaO-/GaO and GaO2-/GaO2 were determined, including the electron affinity of GaO, the vibrational frequency of GaO-, and the term energy, spin-orbit splitting, and vibrational frequency for the first excited A 2PiOmega state of GaO. The GaO2- photoelectron spectra comprised three bands assigned as transitions from the linear X 1Sigma(g)+ ground state of GaO2- to three linear neutral states: the A 2Pi(g), B 2Pi(u), and C 2Sigma(u) + states. The symmetric stretch frequencies of the anion and three neutral states as well as the spin-orbit splitting of the neutral 2Pi states were determined. Electronic structure calculations found the neutral lowest energy linear structure to be only 63 meV higher than the neutral bent geometry.  相似文献

The molecular structure and vibrational spectra of 1-amino-5-benzoyl-4-phenylpyrimidin-2(1H) (C(17)H(13)N(3)O(2)) have been investigated by Hartree-Fock and density functional method using standard B3LYP with 6-31G(d) basis set. The calculated results of the geometric bond lengths and bond angles obtained by using HF and DFT (B3LYP) are in very good agreement with the experimental values. Comparison of the observed fundamental vibrational frequencies of 1-amino-5-benzoyl-4-phenylpyrimidin-2(1H) (C(17)H(13)N(3)O(2)) and calculated results by density functional B3LYP and Hartree-Fock methods indicate that B3LYP is superior to the scaled Hartree-Fock approach for molecular vibrational problems.  相似文献

A coupled-channel Schrodinger equation (CSE) model of N2 photodissociation, which includes the effects of all interactions between the b, c, and o 1Pi u and the C and C' 3Pi u states, is employed to study the effects of rotation on the lowest-upsilon 1Pi u-X 1Sigmag+(upsilon,0) band oscillator strengths and 1Pi u predissociation linewidths. Significant rotational dependences are found which are in excellent agreement with recent experimental results, where comparisons are possible. New extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) photoabsorption spectra of the key b 1Pi u<--X 1Sigmag +(3,0) transition of N2 are also presented and analyzed, revealing a b(upsilon=3) predissociation linewidth peaking near J=11. This behavior can be reproduced only if the triplet structure of the C state is included explicitly in the CSE-model calculations, with a spin-orbit constant A approximately 15 cm(-1) for the diffuse C(upsilon=9) level which accidentally predissociates b(upsilon=3). The complex rotational behavior of the b-X(3,0) and other bands may be an important component in the modeling of EUV transmission through nitrogen-rich planetary atmospheres.  相似文献
