Let (G)>0 be a family of ‘-thin’ Riemannian manifoldsmodeled on a finite metric graph G, for example, the -neighborhoodof an embedding of G in some Euclidean space with straight edges.We study the asymptotic behavior of the spectrum of the Laplace–Beltramioperator on G, as 0, for various boundary conditions. We obtaincomplete asymptotic expansions for the kth eigenvalue and theeigenfunctions, uniformly for kC–1, in terms of scatteringdata on a non-compact limit space. We then use this to determinethe quantum graph which is to be regarded as the limit object,in a spectral sense, of the family (G). Our method is a directconstruction of approximate eigenfunctions from the scatteringand graph data, and the use of a priori estimates to show thatall eigenfunctions are obtained in this way.  相似文献

We study concentration phenomena for the system in the unit ball B1 of 3 with Dirichlet boundaryconditions. Here , , > 0 and p > 1. The main goal of this paper is to prove that every functionf: Rn R is a sum of n + 1 connectivity functions (Corollary2.2). We give several sufficient conditions on a pair of Banach spacesX and Y under which each Lipschitz mapping from a domain inX to Y has, for every > 0, a point of -Fréchet differentiability.Most of these conditions are stated in terms of the moduli ofasymptotic smoothness and convexity, notions which have appearedin the literature under a variety of names. We prove, for example,that for > r > p 1, every Lipschitz mapping from a domainin an lr-sum of finite-dimensional spaces into an lp-sum offinite-dimensional spaces has, for every > 0, a point of-Fréchet differentiability, and that every Lipschitzmapping from an asymptotically uniformly smooth space to a finite-dimensionalspace has such points. The latter result improves, with a simplerproof, an earlier result of the second and third authors. In this paper we define and study Hopf C*-algebras. Roughlyspeaking, a Hopf C*-algebra is a C*-algebra A with a comultiplication: A M(A A) such that the maps a b (a)(1 b) and a (a 1)(b)have their range in A A and are injective after being extendedto a larger natural domain, the Haagerup tensor product A hA. In a purely algebraic setting, these conditions on are closelyrelated to the existence of a counit and antipode. In this topologicalcontext, things turn out to be much more subtle, but neverthelessone can show the existence of a suitable counit and antipodeunder these conditions. The basic example is the C*-algebra C0(G) of continuous complexfunctions tending to zero at infinity on a locally compact groupwhere the comultiplication is obtained by dualizing the groupmultiplication. But also the reduced group C*-algebra of a locally compact group with thewell-known comultiplication falls in this category. In factall locally compact quantum groups in the sense of Kustermansand the first author (such as the compact and discrete ones)as well as most of the known examples are included. This paper continues the study of quantised function algebrasO[G] of a semisimple group G at an lth root of unity . Thesealgebras were introduced by De Concini and Lyubashenko in 1994,and studied further by De Concini and Procesi and by Gordon,amongst others. To study the distribution of pairs of zeros of the Riemann zeta-function,Montgomery introduced the function where is real and T 2, and ' denote the imaginary parts ofzeros of the Riemann zeta-function, and w(u) = 4/(4 + u2). The smoothlocus of H over C[G] is the set of points g G such that XHis smooth along {-1}(g). We relate this set to the separabilitylocus of H over C[G] as well as to the (ordinary) smooth locusof the commutative extension C[G] Z where Z is the centre ofH. We consider properties of second-order operators on d with bounded real symmetric measurable coefficients.We assume that C = (cij) 0 almost everywhere, but allow forthe possibility that C is degenerate. We associate with H acanonical self-adjoint viscosity operator H0 and examine propertiesof the viscosity semigroup S(0) generated by H0. The semigroupextends to a positive contraction semigroup on the Lp-spaceswith p [1, ]. We establish that it conserves probability andsatisfies L2 off-diagonal bounds, and that the wave equationassociated with H0 has finite speed of propagation. Nevertheless,S(0) is not always strictly positive because separation of thesystem can occur even for subelliptic operators. This demonstratesthat subelliptic semigroups are not ergodic in general and theirkernels are neither strictly positive nor Hölder continuous.In particular, one can construct examples for which both upperand lower Gaussian bounds fail even with coefficients in C2–(d)with > 0.  相似文献
