Hölder exponents of the Green functions of planar polynomial Julia sets

If the Green function gE of a compact set ${E \subset \mathbb{C}}$ is Hölder continuous, then the Hölder exponent of the set E is the supremum over all such α that $$|g_E(z)-g_E(w)|\leq M|z-w|^\alpha,\, z, w \in \mathbb{C}.$$ We give a lower bound for the Hölder exponent of the Julia sets of polynomials. In particular, we show that there exist totally disconnected planar sets with the Hölder exponent greater than 1/2 as well as fat continua with the boundary nowhere smooth and with the Hölder exponent as close to 1 as we wish.     

Peak sets for analytic Hölder classes

A closed subset E of the unit circumference T is said to be a peak set for the analytic Hölder class A, 0 < < 1 there exists a functionf,fA such that f¦_E1 and ¦f(z)¦<1 for. It is shown that the set E is a peak set of the algebra A if and only if there exists a nonnegative Borel measure on T such that the function coincides almost everywhere with a function of the Hölder class , equal to zero on E. Hölder exponents and box dimension for self-affine fractal functions

We consider some self-affine fractal functions previously studied by Barnsleyet al. The graphs of these functions are invariant under certain affine scalings, and we extend their definition to allow the use of nonlinear scalings. The Hölder exponent,h, for these fractal functions is calculated and we show that there is a larger Hölder exponent,h , defined at almost every point (with respect to Lebesgue measure). For a class of such functions defined using linear affinities these exponents are related to the box dimensionD _B of the graph byh2–D _Bh .Communicated by Michael F. Barnsley.     

Hölder type quasicontinuity

It is proved that a functionuL ^m,p (R ⁿ ) (which coincides with the Sobolev spaceW ^1,p (R ⁿ ) ifm=1) coincides with a Hölder continuous functionw outside a set of smallm,q-capacity, whereq<p. Moreover, ifm=1, then the functionw can be chosen to be close tou in theW ^1,p -norm.     

Operator inequalities of Hölder type for unitarily invariant norms

The aim of this work is to present some Hölder-type inequalities for sums and products of operators related to unitarily invariant norms. These results generalize some known Hölder inequalities for operators.

     

Global Hölder estimates for equations of Monge-Ampère type

Summary We prove interior oscillation and global Hölder estimates, independent of any boundary data, for convex solutions of certain types of Monge-Ampère equations under suitable conditions on the equation and the domain ⁿ . We also deduce the existence, uniqueness, regularity and unboundedness, under suitable conditions, of convex extremal solutions of certain Monge-Ampère equations.     

Hölder regularity for equations of prescribed anisotropic mean curvature type

In this note, we prove Hölder regularity for equations of prescribed anisotropic mean curvature type. As an application, we obtain the regularity of weak surfaces with prescribed anisotropic mean curvature.     

Hölder and Young Inequalities for the Trace of Operators

If A₁, . . . , A_m are positive semidefinite n × n matrices, and if p₁, . . . , p_m are positive real numbers such that then where |X| denotes and tr(X) denotes the trace of X. Moreover, equality holds in either of these inequalities if and only if . This result will be shown to hold as well in unital C*-algebras that have a faithful tracial state.     

Hölder estimate for the solution of degenerate parabolic equations

Consider the degenerate parabolic equations of the type $$u_t = div A(x,t,u,Du) + b(x,t,u,Du)$$ which is of the same nature as $$u_t = div|Du|^p Du + |Du|^{p + 2} (p > 2).$$ This paper is to study the \(C^{1 + \alpha } ,\frac{{1 + \alpha }}{2}\) Hölder continuity of a class of degenerate parabolic equations and the existence and uniqueness of the initial boundary value problem.     

Interior hölder estimates for solutions of schrödinger equations and the regularity of nodal sets

Abstract

Motivated by the study of selfdual vortices in gauge field theory, we consider a class of Mean Field equations of Liouville-type on compact surfaces involving singular data assigned by Dirac measures supported at finitely many points (the so called vortex points). According to the applications, we need to describe the blow-up behavior of solution-sequences which concentrate exactly at the given vortex points. We provide accurate pointwise estimates for the profile of the bubbling sequences as well as “sup + inf” estimates for solutions. Those results extend previous work of Li [Li, Y. Y. (1999). Harnack type inequality: The method of moving planes. Comm. Math. Phys. 200:421–444] and Brezis et al. [Brezis, H., Li, Y. Shafrir, I. (1993). A sup + inf inequality for some nonlinear elliptic equations involving the exponential nonlinearities. J. Funct. Anal. 115: 344–358] relative to the “regular” case, namely in absence of singular sources.     

Hölder rigidity for matrices

It is proved that a (C ₁, C ₂)-Hölder valuation is (2, α)-equivalent to classical valuation on the set of matrices over a skew field and on the set of cubic matrices over a field. These results provide an extension of the Garcia theorem.     

Removable sets for Hölder continuous solutions of quasilinear elliptic equations with lower order terms

We consider quasi-linear second order elliptic differential equations with lower order terms and study removable sets for Hölder continuous solutions of the equation.     

Hölder Continuity of the Saddle Point Set for Real-Valued Functions

This paper is concerned with Hölder continuity of the solution to a saddle point problem. Some new su?cient conditions for the uniqueness and Hölder continuity of the solution for a perturbed saddle point problem are established. Applications of the result on Hölder continuity of the solution for perturbed constrained optimization problems are presented under mild conditions. Examples are given to illustrate the obtained results.     

Hölder Conditions for Endomorphisms of Hyperbolic Groups

It is proved that an endomorphism φ of a hyperbolic group G satisfies a Hölder condition with respect to a visual metric if and only if φ is virtually injective and Gφ is a quasiconvex subgroup of G. If G is virtually free or torsion-free co-hopfian, then φ is uniformly continuous if and only if it satisfies a Hölder condition if and only if it is virtually injective.
