In this paper we consider the decay and blow-up properties of a viscoelastic wave equation with boundary damping and source terms. We first extend the decay result (for the case of linear damping) obtained by Lu et al. (On a viscoelastic equation with nonlinear boundary damping and source terms: Global existence and decay of the solution, Nonlinear Analysis: Real World Applications 12 (1) (2011), 295-303) to the nonlinear damping case under weaker assumption on the relaxation function g(t). Then, we give an exponential decay result without the relation between g(t) and g(t) for the linear damping case, provided that ‖gL1(0,) is small enough. Finally, we establish two blow-up results: one is for certain solutions with nonpositive initial energy as well as positive initial energy for both the linear and nonlinear damping cases, the other is for certain solutions with arbitrarily positive initial energy for the linear damping case.  相似文献

We study the rate of decay of solutions of the wave equation with localized nonlinear damping without any growth restriction and without any assumption on the dynamics. Providing regular initial data, the asymptotic decay rates of the energy functional are obtained by solving nonlinear ODE. Moreover, we give explicit uniform decay rates of the energy. More precisely, we find that the energy decays uniformly at last, as fast as 1/(ln(t+2))2−δ,δ>0, when the damping has a polynomial growth or sublinear, and for an exponential damping at the origin the energy decays at last, as fast as 1/(ln(ln(t+e2)))2−δ,δ>0.  相似文献

We consider a class of Stefan-type problems having a convection term and a pseudomonotone nonlinear diffusion operator. Assuming data in L1, we prove existence, uniqueness and stability in the framework of renormalized solutions. Existence is established from compactness and monotonicity arguments which yield stability of solutions with respect to L1 convergence of the data. Uniqueness is proved through a classical L1-contraction principle, obtained by a refinement of the doubling variable technique which allows us to extend previous results to a more general class of nonlinear possibly degenerate operators.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the Cauchy problem for the biharmonic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with L2-super-critical nonlinearity. By establishing the profile decomposition of bounded sequences in H2(RN), the best constant of a Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality is obtained. Moreover, a sufficient condition for the global existence of the solution to the biharmonic nonlinear Schrödinger equation is given.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the so-called p-system with linear damping, and we will prove an optimal decay estimates without any smallness conditions on the initial error. More precisely, if we restrict the initial data (V0,U0) in the space H3(R+)∩L1,γ(R+H2(R+)∩L1,γ(R+), then we can derive faster decay estimates than those given in [P. Marcati, M. Mei, B. Rubino, Optimal convergence rates to diffusion waves for solutions of the hyperbolic conservation laws with damping, J. Math. Fluid Mech. 7 (2) (2005) 224-240; H. Zhao, Convergence to strong nonlinear diffusion waves for solutions of p-system with damping, J. Differential Equations 174 (1) (2001) 200-236] and [M. Jian, C. In this paper we consider the Cauchy problem of semilinear parabolic equations with nonlinear gradient terms a(x)|u|q−1u|u|p. We prove the existence of global solutions and self-similar solutions for small initial data. Moreover, for a class of initial data we show that the global solutions behave asymptotically like self-similar solutions as t.  相似文献

We analyze boundary value problems prescribing Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions for a nonlocal nonlinear diffusion operator which is analogous to the porous medium equation in a bounded smooth domain ΩRN with N≥1. First, we prove existence and uniqueness of solutions and the validity of a comparison principle for these problems. Next, we impose boundary data that blow up in finite time and study the behavior of the solutions.  相似文献

Nonlinear geometric optics with various frequencies for entropy solutions only in L of multidimensional scalar conservation laws is analyzed. A new approach to validate nonlinear geometric optics is developed via entropy dissipation through scaling, compactness, homogenization, and L1-stability. New multidimensional features are recognized, especially including nonlinear propagations of oscillations with high frequencies. The validity of nonlinear geometric optics for entropy solutions in L of multidimensional scalar conservation laws is justified.  相似文献

In the present paper, we investigate the large-time behavior of the solution to an initial-boundary value problem for the isentropic compressible Navier-Stokes equations in the Eulerian coordinate in the half space. This is one of the series of papers by the authors on the stability of nonlinear waves for the outflow problem of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations. Some suitable assumptions are made to guarantee that the time-asymptotic state is a nonlinear wave which is the superposition of a stationary solution and a rarefaction wave. Employing the L2-energy method and making use of the techniques from the paper [S. Kawashima, Y. Nikkuni, Stability of rarefaction waves for the discrete Boltzmann equations, Adv. Math. Sci. Appl. 12 (1) (2002) 327-353], we prove that this nonlinear wave is nonlinearly stable under a small perturbation. The complexity of nonlinear wave leads to many complicated terms in the course of establishing the a priori estimates, however those terms are of two basic types, and the terms of each type are “good” and can be evaluated suitably by using the decay (in both time and space variables) estimates of each component of nonlinear wave.  相似文献

We study the existence of (generalized) bounded solutions existing for all times for nonlinear parabolic equations with nonlinear boundary conditions on a domain that is bounded in space and unbounded in time (the entire real line). We give a counterexample which shows that a (weak) maximum principle does not hold in general for linear problems defined on the entire real line in time. We consider a boundedness condition at minus infinity to establish (one-sided) L-a priori estimates for solutions to linear boundary value problems and derive a weak maximum principle which is valid on the entire real line in time. We then take up the case of nonlinear problems with (possibly) nonlinear boundary conditions. By using comparison techniques, some (delicate) a priori estimates obtained herein, and nonlinear approximation methods, we prove the existence and, in some instances, positivity and uniqueness of strong full bounded solutions existing for all times.  相似文献

We study uniformly elliptic fully nonlinear equations of the type F(D2u,Du,u,x)=f(x). We show that convex positively 1-homogeneous operators possess two principal eigenvalues and eigenfunctions, and study these objects; we obtain existence and uniqueness results for nonproper operators whose principal eigenvalues (in some cases, only one of them) are positive; finally, we obtain an existence result for nonproper Isaac's equations.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the generic hyperbolicity of equilibria of a reaction-diffusion system with respect to nonlinear terms in the set of C2-functions equipped with the Whitney Topology. To accomplish this, we combine Baire’s Lemma and the usual Transversality Theorem.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the defocusing, energy-critical Hartree equation with harmonic potential for the radial data in all dimensions (n≥5) and show the global well-posedness and scattering theory in the space Σ=H1FH1. We take advantage of some symmetry of the Hartree nonlinearity to exploit the derivative-like properties of the Galilean operators and obtain the energy control as well. Based on Bourgain and Tao’s approach, we use a localized Morawetz identity to show the global well-posedness. A key decay estimate comes from the linear part of the energy rather than the nonlinear part, which finally helps us to complete the scattering theory.  相似文献

We prove a result of formation of singularities for the classical solutions of the planar motion of a nonlinear elastic string. In a particular, but physically relevant, case we give a characterization of the global C1 solutions with positive tension.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the mixed initial-boundary value problem for diagonalizable quasilinear hyperbolic systems with nonlinear boundary conditions on a half-unbounded domain . Under the assumptions that system is strictly hyperbolic and linearly degenerate, we obtain the global existence and uniqueness of C1 solutions with the bounded L1L norm of the initial data as well as their derivatives and appropriate boundary condition. Based on the existence results of global classical solutions, we also prove that when t tends to infinity, the solutions approach a combination of C1 travelling wave solutions. Under the appropriate assumptions of initial and boundary data, the results can be applied to the equation of time-like extremal surface in Minkowski space R1+(1+n).  相似文献

The energy method in the Fourier space is useful in deriving the decay estimates for problems in the whole space Rn. In this paper, we study half space problems in and develop the energy method in the partial Fourier space obtained by taking the Fourier transform with respect to the tangential variable xRn−1. For the variable x1R+ in the normal direction, we use L2 space or weighted L2 space. We apply this energy method to the half space problem for damped wave equations with a nonlinear convection term and prove the asymptotic stability of planar stationary waves by showing a sharp convergence rate for t→∞. The result obtained in this paper is a refinement of the previous one in Ueda et al. (2008) [13].  相似文献

The Keldysh equation is a more general form of the classic Tricomi equation from fluid dynamics. Its well-posedness and the regularity of its solution are interesting and important. The Keldysh equation is elliptic in y>0 and is degenerate at the line y=0 in R2. Adding a special nonlinear absorption term, we study a nonlinear degenerate elliptic equation with mixed boundary conditions in a piecewise smooth domain—similar to the potential fluid shock reflection problem. By means of an elliptic regularization technique, a delicate a priori estimate and compact argument, we show that the solution of a mixed boundary value problem of the Keldysh equation is smooth in the interior and Lipschitz continuous up to the degenerate boundary under some conditions. We believe that this kind of regularity result for the solution will be rather useful.  相似文献

We present three results related with the regularity of solutions of the almost cubic NLS. In the first one, following Ozawa’s idea, we establish mass and energy conservation for the solutions without regularizing the initial datum. Our second result is the Hs well-posedness for the Cauchy problem for 0<s<1. Finally, we show that the same solutions are also in some Bourgain spaces for possibly a smaller time interval. In all of our results, the non-local nonlinear term in the equation is shown to act like a cubic nonlinearity on the appropriate Sobolev and Besov spaces.  相似文献

We consider a nonlinear reaction-diffusion equation on the whole space Rd. We prove the well-posedness of the corresponding Cauchy problem in a general functional setting, namely, when the initial datum is uniformly locally bounded in L2 only. Then we adapt the short trajectory method to establish the existence of the global attractor and, if d?3, we find an upper bound of its Kolmogorov's ε-entropy.  相似文献

The existence of a global attractor in L2(Ω) is established for a reaction-diffusion equation on a bounded domain Ω in Rd with Dirichlet boundary conditions, where the reaction term contains an operator F:L2(Ω)→L2(Ω) which is nonlocal and possibly nonlinear. Existence of weak solutions is established, but uniqueness is not required. Compactness of the multivalued flow is obtained via estimates obtained from limits of Galerkin approximations. In contrast with the usual situation, these limits apply for all and not just for almost all time instants.  相似文献
