As is well known, the absorption of circularly polarized light in semiconductors results in optical orientation of electron spins and helicity-dependent electric photocurrent, and the absorption of linearly polarized light is accompanied by optical alignment of electron momenta. Here, we show that the absorption of unpolarized light leads to the generation of a pure spin current, although both the average electron spin and electric current vanish. We demonstrate this for direct interband and intersubband as well as indirect intraband (Drude-like) optical transitions in semiconductor quantum wells.  相似文献

低维限域结构中水与物质的输运研究,对于解决界面化学和流体力学中的遗留问题十分关键.近年来,研究人员采用分子动力学模拟和实验手段研究低维限域结构中水与物质的输运,并将其应用于物质输运、纳米限域化学反应、纳米材料制备等领域.本文从理论和实验的角度总结一维和二维纳米通道的水与物质输运,介绍了本研究组提出的"量子限域超流体"概念,并用于解释纳米通道中超快物质的输运现象;在此基础上概述了一维纳米通道中的分子动力学模拟和水浸润性,以及外部环境(如温度和电压)对限域结构中水浸润性的调控,同时阐述了低维限域结构中的液体输运;对二维纳米通道中的分子动力学模拟、液体浸润性以及液体输运进行了综述;讨论了纳米通道限域结构在物质输运、纳米限域化学反应和纳米材料制备等领域的应用;对低维限域结构中水与物质输运面临的挑战和前景进行了展望.  相似文献

Due to the upcoming demands of next-generation electronic/magnetoelectronic devices with low-energy consumption,emerging correlated materials(such as superconductors,topological insulators and manganites) are one of the highly promising candidates for the applications.For the past decades,manganites have attracted great interest due to the colossal magnetoresistance effect,charge-spin-orbital ordering,and electronic phase separation.However,the incapable of deterministic control of those emerging low-dimensional spin structures at ambient condition restrict their possible applications.Therefore,the understanding and control of the dynamic behaviors of spin order parameters at nanoscale in manganites under external stimuli with low energy consumption,especially at room temperature is highly desired.In this review,we collected recent major progresses of nanoscale control of spin structures in manganites at low dimension,especially focusing on the control of their phase boundaries,domain walls as well as the topological spin structures(e.g.,skyrmions).In addition,capacitor-based prototype spintronic devices are proposed by taking advantage of the above control methods in manganites.This capacitor-based structure may provide a new platform for the design of future spintronic devices with low-energy consumption.  相似文献

Strained 100 Å GaAsSb quantum wells in GaAs, grown by Molecular Beam Epitaxy have been subjected to thermal anneals up to a temperature of 950°C and for times varying from a few seconds to several minutes. The interdiffusion on the group V sublattice has been monitored using photoluminescence of the ground state emissions from the quantum well. We have made measurements on undoped and both p and n, Be and Si, doped structures. The intermixing is observed to be strongly non-linear. Doping is found to reduce the interdiffusion.  相似文献

A quantum mechanical theory of single-particle motion under the influence of a stochastic potential is presented. By solving the Dyson equation, the one-particle Green's function can be determined approximately. Assuming a Gaussian distribution, an explicit expression is derived for the spectral function. The analytical results are in good agreement with numerically calculated data. The theory is applied to excitons on rough interfaces. The optical absorption of excitons on rough surfaces can be traced back to the one-particle Green's function for the center-of-mass motion. In contrast to the classical treatment, the asymmetry of the lines and the redshift of the maxima can be explained. Some kinds of low-dimensional nanostructures can be formed by the irradiation of laser on a pure silicon sample and SiGe alloy sample. We have studied the photoluminescence (PL) of the hole-net structure of silicon and the porous structure of SiGe where the PL intensity at 706 nm and 725 nm wavelength increases obviously. The effect of intensity-enhancing in the PL peaks cannot be explained within the quantum confinement alone. We propose a mechanism on the increasing PL emission in the above structures, in which the trap state of the interface between SiO2 and nanocrystal plays an important role.   相似文献

We report the current–voltage characteristics of gold nanoparticle–biopolymer networks at room temperature. The characteristics have features that are indicative of single-electron charging in ordered, one-dimensional chains of nanoparticles. From capacitance estimates and numerical simulations, we argue that the observed electrical behavior is related to the low size dispersion of the nanoparticles and the uniformity of the biopolymer lengths imbedded within the network.  相似文献

The coherent dynamics of magnetoexcitons in semiconductor nanorings following pulsed optical excitation is studied. The calculated temporal evolution of the excitonic dipole moment may be understood as a superposition of the relative motion of electrons and holes and a global circular motion associated with the magnetic-field splitting of these states. This dynamics of the electron-hole pairs can be generated either by local optical excitation of an ordered ring or, alternatively, by homogeneous excitation of rings with broken rotational symmetry due to disorder or band tilting. An experimental technique is developed to perform photoexcitation of an ensemble of translationinvariant triplet excitons, to manipulate this ensemble, and to detect the properties of its components. In particular, the influence of temperature on the radiationless decay during the relaxation of an exciton spin into the ground state of a Hall insulator at a filling factor ν = 2 is studied. The generation of photoexcited electrons and holes is controlled using photoinduced resonance reflection spectra, which makes it possible to estimate the density of light-generated electron–hole pairs and to independently control the self-consistent generation of electrons at the first Landau level and holes (vacancies) at the ground (zero) cyclotron electronic level. The existence of triplet excitons is established from inelastic light scattering spectra, which are used to determine the singlet–triplet exciton splitting. The lifetimes of triplet excitons, which are closely related to the relaxation time of an electron spin, are extremely long: they reach 100 μs in perfect GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures with a high mobility of two-dimensional electrons at low temperatures. These long spin relaxation times are qualitatively explained, and the expected collective behavior of high-density triplet magnetoexcitons at sufficiently low temperatures, which is related to their Bose nature, is discussed.  相似文献

The features of the electronic spectrum in low-dimensional (quasi-one-dimensional) structures with symmetry of borders have been considered. It has been shown that, in the spinless case, the conical massless (Dirac) form of the spectrum (ɛ(k) ∝ ± |k|) appears in groups with glide planes. This spectrum is a consequence of forced degeneracy, which appears due to the joint action of the lattice symmetry elements and time reversal invariance. For the spinor representations, the conical shape of the spectrum appears in all groups.  相似文献

Magnetoexcitons in InGaAs/GaAs surface quantum wells in a quantizing magnetic field are investigated theoretically and experimentally. Dielectric enhancement of an exciton with decreasing thickness of the barrier layer is demonstrated, and the dependence of the effect on the strength of the magnetic field is analyzed for the 1s and 2s states.
