A new, potentially polydentate sulfur–nitrogen chelating agent, 2,6–bis(N-methyl-S-methyldithiocarbazato)pyridine (L) has been synthesized and characterized. With nickel(II) salts, the ligand yields complexes of empirical formula NiLX2·nH2O (X=Cl−, NCS− or NO3−; n=0 or 1) in which it behaves as a quadridentate NSSN chelating agent, coordinating to the nickel(II) ion via the two amino nitrogen atoms and the two sulfur atoms. Magnetic and spectral evidence support a distorted octahedral structure for these complexes. The ligand reacts with copper(II), platinum(II) and palladium(II) salts to yield homo-binuclear complexes of general formula [M2LX4]·nSol (M=CuII, PtII or PdII; X=Cl− or Br−; n=0.5, 1 or 2; Sol=H2O, MeOH or MeCOMe), in which each of the metal ions is in a square-planar environment. These complexes have been characterized by a variety of physicochemical techniques. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Oxovanadium(IV)-Schiff-base complexes, [VOL2] {L?=?N,N′-bis-(4-X-amino phenyl (4′-n-alkoxy)-salicylaldiminato), n?=?10, 18; X?=?Cl, NO2}, have been synthesized from the interaction of vanadyl (VO2+) and the bidentate [N,O] donor in methanol/ethanol. The compounds were characterized by FT–IR, 1H- and 13C-NMR, FAB-mass spectra, elemental analyses, and solution electrical conductivity. Mesomorphic behavior of the ligands and their vanadyl complexes were probed by polarizing optical microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. The compounds are thermally stable and exhibit enantiotropic smectic A mesomorphism over the temperature range of 57–231°C. The mesophase–isotropic transition temperatures for the complexes are much higher than the ligands. Melting and clearing points of the compounds did not show any definitive trend with regards to alkoxy chain length or electronegative substituent. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements of the vanadyl complexes clearly show the absence of exchange interactions among the vanadyl spin centers. Non-electrolytic natures of the complexes were shown by conductometric measurements. A ν(V=O) of ~970?cm?1 corroborated the absence of any V=O?···?V=O interactions. Density functional theory study carried out using DMol3 at BLYP/DNP level to determine the energy-optimized structure revealed a distorted square pyramidal geometry for the vanadyl complexes.  相似文献

The preparation, characterization and mesomorphic properties of vanadyl(VI) and cobalt(II) complexes derived from N , N -bis[3-(3,4-dialkoxyphenyl)-3-oxopropenyl]ethylenediamines are described. These half-disk-shaped molecules exhibited columnar mesophases over a wide range of temperature, as characterized by DSC analysis and polarizing optical microscopy. The structure of the mesophases was also confirmed as columnar hexagonal (Colho) by powder XRD. The vanadyl complexes were found to have substantially higher clearing temperatures and wider mesophase temperatures than the analogous cobalt complexes. The influence of the metal centres on the mesomorphic temperatures may be attributed to better intermolecular dative association in the vanadyl complexes than in the cobalt complexes.  相似文献

The structures of the ternary palladium(II) complexes of the formulations [Pd(Gly)(bpy)](+)Cl(-).4H(2)O (Gly=glycine; bpy=2,2'-bipyridine) (1), [Pd(Gly)(phen)](+)Cl(-).4H(2)O (2) (phen=1,10-phenanthroline) and {[Pd(Gly)(bpa)](+)Cl(-)}(2).6H(2)O (3) (bpa=2,2'-bipyridylamine) were determined. All complexes are positively charged and neutralized by the chloride anion located nearby the complexes. The central Pd(II) atoms of the complexes 1, 2 and 3 have a similar distorted square planar coordination geometry, in which each Pd(II) atom is coordinated to two N atoms of the bidentate heterocyclic ligand, and N and O atoms of the bidentate glycine ligand. The interaction of the complexes with calf thymus (CT) DNA was also studied using the fluorescence method. All complexes showed the inhibition of ethidium bromide binding to CT DNA, and the DNA-binding strengths were reflected as the relative order 2>1>3. The remarkable reduction of UV absorption intensity of 2 caused in the presence of DNA suggests the presence of pi-pi stacking interaction between the heterocyclic ring of the phen ligand and nucleobases. The intercalative DNA-binding of 2 is suggested by UV and CD measurements. DNA cleavage studies indicated that the cleavage of the plasmid supercoiled pBR322 DNA in the presence of H(2)O(2) and ascorbic acid could be enhanced by the complexes.  相似文献

Summary Metal(II) chelates of Schiff bases derived from the condensation of 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydro-3-oxo-N,1-diphenyl-5-(phenylmethylene)-2-naphthalenecarboxamide with o-aminophenol (KAAP), o-aminothiophenol (KAAT) or o-aminobenzoic acid (KAAB) have been prepared and characterized. The complexes are of the type [M(N2X)]2 for M = CuII and M(NX)2·nH2O for M = NiII, CoII and VOII (X = phenolic oxygen, thiophenolic sulphur or carboxylic oxygen; n = 0 or 2). Conductivity data indicate that the complexes are non-ionic. The Schiff bases behave as dibasic tridentate ligands in their copper(II) complexes and as monobasic bidentate ligands in their nickel(II), cobalt(II) and vanadyl(II) complexes. The subnormal magnetic moments of the copper(II) complexes are ascribed to an antiferromagnetic exchange interaction arising from dimerization. Nickel(II) and cobalt(II) complexes are trans octahedral whereas vanadyl(II) complexes are square pyramidal  相似文献

Six novel homoleptic palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes of donor-substituted alkenol ligands [PyCHC(R)OH; Py = pyridine, R = CH(3), CF(3), C(2)F(5), C(3)F(7)] of the general formula M[PyCHC(R)O](2) (M = Pd, Pt) were synthesized by reacting the deprotonated ligands with PdCl(2) and K(2)PtCl(4), respectively. Molecular structures, revealed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses, showed a square-planar arrangement of ligands around palladium and platinum centers, with the pyridine-ring nitrogen atoms situated in a mutually trans position. The monomeric nature of the compounds in the solution state was confirmed by multinuclear ((1)H, (13)C, and (19)F) NMR spectroscopy. Thermal decomposition profiles recorded under a nitrogen atmosphere suggested their potential as volatile precursors to palladium and platinum materials. The volatility was increased upon elongation of the perfluoroalkyl chain, which suppressed the intermolecular interactions, as is evident in crystal packings. The volatility of these compounds was attributed to bidentate chelation of the alkenol units and cooperativity among the electron-back-donating nitrogen atom and interplay of electron-withdrawing C(x)F(y) groups, resulting in an effective steric shielding of the metal atoms.  相似文献

A micellar solution of cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) can separate into two phases due to a temperature change or to the addition of salts. Platinum(II), (IV) and palladium(II) reacted with chloride ions to form stable anionic complexes of PtCl4(2-), PtCl6(2-) and PdCl4(2-), respectively, and were adsorbed onto the CPC gel phase. The CPC phase plays the role of an ion-exchange adsorbent for the anionic complexes. By such a procedure, the precious metals of platinum and palladium could be separated from base metals such as copper, zinc and iron. The kinetic separation was performed by a ligand exchange reaction of the palladium(II) chloro-complex with EDTA at 60 degrees C. The anionic palladium(II)-EDTA complex could not bind the opposite charged CP+ and was desorbed from the CPC phase. In the aqueous phase, the recovery of palladium(II) by the double-desorption was 101.1 +/- 1.2%. The platinum(II) and (IV) chloro-complexes were stable for at least 30 min and remained in the CPC phase.  相似文献

Tridentate Schiff-base carboxylate-containing ligands, derived from the condensation of 2-imidazolecarboxaldehyde with the amino acids beta-alanine (H2L1) and 2-aminobenzoic acid (H2L5) and the condensation of 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde with beta-alanine (HL2), D,L-3-aminobutyric acid (HL3), and 4-aminobutyric acid (HL4), react with copper(II) perchlorate to give rise to the helical-chain complexes [[Cu(mu-HL1)(H2O)](ClO4)]n (1), [[Cu(mu-L2)(H2O)](ClO4).2H2O]n (2), and [[Cu(mu-L3)(H2O)](ClO4).2H2O]n (3), the tetranuclear complex [[Cu(mu-L4)(H2O)](ClO4)]4 (4), and the mononuclear complex [Cu(HL5)(H2O)](ClO4).1/2H2O (5). The reaction of copper(II) chloride with H2L1 leads not to a syn-anti carboxylate-bridged compound but to the chloride-bridged dinuclear complex [Cu(HL1)(mu-Cl)]2 (6). The structures of these complexes have been solved by X-ray crystallography. In complexes 1-4, roughly square-pyramidal copper(II) ions are sequentially bridged by syn-anti carboxylate groups. Copper(II) ions exhibit CuN2O3 coordination environments with the three donor atoms of the ligand and one oxygen atom belonging to the carboxylate group of an adjacent molecule occupying the basal positions and an oxygen atom (from a water molecule in the case of compounds 1-3 and from a perchlorate anion in 4) coordinated in the apical position. Therefore, carboxylate groups are mutually cis oriented and each syn-anti carboxylate group bridges two copper(II) ions in basal-basal positions with Cu...Cu distances ranging from 4.541 A for 4 to 5.186 A for 2. In complex 5, the water molecule occupies an equatorial position in the distorted octahedral environment of the copper(II) ion and the Cu-O carboxylate distances in axial positions are very large (>2.78 A). Therefore, this complex can be considered as mononuclear. Complex 6 exhibits a dinuclear parallel planar structure with Ci symmetry. Copper(II) ions display a square-pyramidal coordination geometry (tau = 0.06) for the N2OCl2 donor set, where the basal coordination sites are occupied by one of the bridging chlorine atoms and the three donor atoms of the tridentate ligand and the apical site is occupied by the remaining bridging chlorine atom. Magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate that complexes 1-4 exhibit weak ferromagnetic interactions whereas a weak antiferromagnetic coupling has been established for 6. The magnetic behavior can be satisfactorily explained on the basis of the structural data for these and related complexes.  相似文献

A series of 2-aminosubstituted (5Z)-3-phenyl-5-(pyridine-2-ylmethylene)-3,5-dihydro-4H-imidazole-4-ones (L) was prepared by the reaction of the corresponding 2-alkylthio-3,5-dihydro-4H-imidazole-4-ones with morpholine or piperidine in the presence of ytterbium(III) triflate. The resulting ligands were subsequently reacted with CuCl2·2H2O and CoCl2·6H2O to give the corresponding copper(II) and cobalt(II) complexes, respectively. Analysis revealed that the complexes were formed with an LMCl2 (M = Cu, Co)-type composition in all cases. The structures of the three cobalt complexes prepared in this way were determined by X-ray crystallography. The results revealed that the cobalt ions in these complexes were tetrahedrally coordinated to two chloride anions and two nitrogen atoms from the pyridine and imidazole moieties of the ligand. The electrochemical properties of the ligands and their complexes were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry, and the results revealed that the first stage in the reduction of the Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes involved the reversible formation of the corresponding Co(I) and Cu(I) complexes, respectively. The cytotoxicity activities of the organic ligands and their complexes were evaluated against several cancer cell lines, including MCF-7, A549 and HEK293 cells. The copper complexes of the organic ligands bearing a phenyl or allyl moiety at their N(3) position together with a piperidine substituent at the 2-position of their imidazolone ring exhibited the greatest cytotoxicity of all of the compounds tested in the current study.  相似文献

The bifunctional carbonyl compound; 4,6-diacetylresorcinol (DAR) serves as precursor for the formation of different Schiff base ligands, which are either di- or tetra-basic with two symmetrical sets of either O2N or N2O tridentate chelating sites. The condensation of 4,6-diacetylresorcinol with 3-amino-1-propanol (3-AP) or 1,3-diaminopropane (DAP), yields the corresponding hexadentate Schiff base ligands, abbreviated as H4La and H2Lb, respectively. The structures of these ligands were elucidated by elemental analyses, IR, mass, 1H NMR and electronic spectra. Reaction of the Schiff base ligands with copper(II), nickel(II), cobalt(II), zinc(II), cadmium(II), iron(III), chromium(III), vanadyl(IV) and uranyl(VI) ions in 1:2 molar ratio afforded the corresponding transition metal complexes. A variety of binuclear complexes for the metal complexes were obtained with the ligands in its di- or tetra-deprotonated forms. The structures of the newly prepared complexes were identified by elemental analyses, infrared, electronic, mass, 1H NMR and ESR spectra as well as magnetic susceptibility measurements and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The bonding sites are the azomethine and amino nitrogen atoms, and phenolic and alcoholic oxygen atoms. The metal complexes exhibit different geometrical arrangements such as square planar, tetrahedral, square pyramid and octahedral arrangement.  相似文献

The first 2-pyridylethanol (pyet) complexes of manganese(II), iron(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) saccharinates, were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic measurements, UV-Vis, and IR spectroscopic techniques. Crystal and molecular structures of the iron(II) and copper(II) complexes were determined by single crystal X-ray diffractometry. The experimental data showed that all the complexes are mononuclear with a general formula [M(H2O)2(pyet)2](sac)2, where sac is the saccharinate anion. All the metal ions are octahedrally coordinated by two aqua and two pyet ligands. The pyet ligand acts as a bidentate ligand through its amine nitrogen and hydroxyl oxygen atoms forming a six-membered chelate ring, while the sac ions remain outside the coordination sphere. All the complexes are isomorphous with a monoclinic space group P21/n and Z = 2.  相似文献

The extraction properties of (RS)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-4,4-dimethyl-3-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)-pentan-3-ol (with chloroform as a diluent) with respect to palladium(II) were studied. Palladium(II) was found to be efficiently extracted by the reagent from 0.1–6 M HCl solutions by the coordination mechanism. The rate of palladium(II) recovery depends on the hydrochloric acid and chloride ion concentrations in the aqueous phase. Conditions for the selective separation of palladium(II) and copper(II) from nickel(II), cobalt(II), and iron(III) were determined.  相似文献

The new cyano complexes of formulas PPh(4)[Fe(III)(bipy)(CN)(4)] x H(2)O (1), [[Fe(III)(bipy)(CN)(4)](2)M(II)(H(2)O)(4)] x 4H(2)O with M = Mn (2) and Zn (3), and [[Fe(III)(bipy)(CN)(4)](2)Zn(II)] x 2H(2)O (4) [bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine and PPh(4) = tetraphenylphosphonium cation] have been synthesized and structurally characterized. The structure of complex 1 is made up of mononuclear [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](-) anions, tetraphenyphosphonium cations, and water molecules of crystallization. The iron(III) is hexacoordinated with two nitrogen atoms of a chelating bipy and four carbon atoms of four terminal cyanide groups, building a distorted octahedron around the metal atom. The structure of complexes 2 and 3 consists of neutral centrosymmetric [[Fe(III)(bipy)(CN)(4)](2)M(II)(H(2)O)(4)] heterotrinuclear units and crystallization water molecules. The [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](-) entity of 1 is present in 2 and 3 acting as a monodentate ligand toward M(H(2)O)(4) units [M = Mn(II) (2) and Zn(II) (3)] through one cyanide group, the other three cyanides remaining terminal. Four water molecules and two cyanide nitrogen atoms from two [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](-) units in trans positions build a distorted octahedron surrounding Mn(II) (2) and Zn(II) (3). The structure of the [Fe(phen)(CN)(4)](-) complex ligand in 2 and 3 is close to that of the one in 1. The intramolecular Fe-M distances are 5.126(1) and 5.018(1) A in 2 and 3, respectively. 4 exhibits a neutral one-dimensional polymeric structure containing two types of [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](-) units acting as bismonodentate (Fe(1)) and trismonodentate (Fe(2)) ligands versus the divalent zinc cations through two cis-cyanide (Fe(1)) and three fac-cyanide (Fe(2)) groups. The environment of the iron atoms in 4 is distorted octahedral as in 1-3, whereas the zinc atom is pentacoordinated with five cyanide nitrogen atoms, describing a very distorted square pyramid. The iron-zinc separations across the single bridging cyanides are 5.013(1) and 5.142(1) A at Fe(1) and 5.028(1), 5.076(1), and 5.176(1) A at Fe(2). The magnetic properties of 1-3 have been investigated in the temperature range 2.0-300 K. 1 is a low-spin iron(III) complex with an important orbital contribution. The magnetic properties of 3 correspond to the sum of two magnetically isolated spin triplets, the antiferromagnetic coupling between the low-spin iron(III) centers through the -CN-Zn-NC- bridging skeleton (iron-iron separation larger than 10 A) being very weak. More interestingly, 2 exhibits a significant intramolecular antiferromagnetic interaction between the central spin sextet and peripheral spin doublets, leading to a low-lying spin quartet.  相似文献

The thermotropic liquid-crystalline phase behaviour of a homologous set of bis[N-[[4-[4-(alkoxy)benzoyloxy]2-hydroxyphenyl]methylene]alkanamino] copper(II) complexes is examined. New data are reported and taken into account in addition to those previously reported in this Journal. The influence of alkoxy and alkanamine groups on the nature and stability of the mesophase is underlined. As a general trend, with some notable exception, smectic (C type) mesomorphism is favoured by longer alkoxy and alkanamine chains. Data concerning some Pd(II) and Ni(II) homologous complexes are also reported. The mesophase stability (nematic phase) is higher for palladium and nickel complexes than for the copper containing homologues.  相似文献

Four 2-oxo-1,2-dihydroquinoline-3-carbaldehyde N-substituted thiosemicarbazone ligands (H(2)-OQtsc-R, where R = H, Me, Et or Ph) and their corresponding new copper(II) complexes [CuCl(2)(H(2)-OQtsc-H)]·2H(2)O (1), [CuCl(2)(H(2)-OQtsc-Me)]·2H(2)O (2), [CuCl(2)(H(2)-OQtsc-Et)(CH(3)OH)]Cl (3) and [CuCl(H-OQtsc-Ph)]·CH(3)OH (4) have been synthesized in order to correlate the effect of terminal N-substitution on coordination behaviour, structure and biological activity. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the complexes 1, 2 and 3 have square pyramidal geometry around the central metal ion. In the complexes 1 and 2, the copper ion is coordinated by the ligand with ONS donor atoms, one chloride ion in apical position and the other chloride in the basal plane. Complex 3 consists of [CuCl(2)(H(2)-OQtsc-Et)(CH(3)OH)](+) cation and a chloride as counter ion. The copper ion is coordinated by the ligand with ONS donor atoms and by one chloride ion in the basal plane. One methanol molecule is bonded through its neutral oxygen in the apical position. Complex 4 is square planar with the ligand coordinating through uni-negative tridentate ONS(-) and by one chloride ion in the basal plane. The binding of complexes with lysozyme protein was carried out by fluorescence spectroscopy. Investigations of antioxidation properties showed that all the copper(II) complexes have strong radical scavenging properties. The cytotoxicity of the complexes 3 and 4 against NIH 3T3 and HeLa cell lines showed that synergy between the metal and ligands results in a significant enhancement in the cell death with IC(50) of ~10-40 μM. A size dependence of substitution at terminal N in the thiosemicarbazones on the biological activities of the complexes has been observed.  相似文献

The valence electronic structures of [Cu(hfac)L] (hfac = CF(3)C(O)CHC(O)CF(3); L = PMe(3), CNMe), [Ag(hfac)(PMe(3))], and [Ag(fod)(PEt(3))] (fod = t-BuC(O)CHC(O)C(3)F(7)) have been studied by recording their photoelectron spectra and by performing Xalpha-SW calculations on the model compounds [M(dfm)(PH(3))] (dfm = HC(O)CHC(O)H; M = Cu, Ag) and [Cu(dfm)(CNH)]. For the copper complexes, the spectra were recorded between 21 and 160 eV using He I, He II and synchrotron radiation; while, for the silver complexes, He I and He II, spectra were recorded. Assignments were made by comparison of experimental and calculated values of band energies, and, for the copper complexes, by similar comparison of experimental and theoretical branching ratios as a function of photon energy. For the silver complexes, a more limited comparison of band intensities in the He I and He II spectra was made. In analogous compounds, it is shown that the binding energies follow the sequence Ag 4d > Cu 3d, with an energy difference of almost 2 eV.  相似文献

Novel transition metal complexes with the repaglinide ligand [2-ethoxy-4-[N-[1-(2piperidinophenyl)-3-methyl-1-1butyl] aminocarbonylmethyl]benzoic acid] (HL) are prepared from chloride salts of manganese(II), iron(III), copper(II), and zinc(II) ions in water-alcoholic media. The mononuclear and non-electrolyte [M(L)2(H2O)2]?nH2O (M = Mn2+, n = 2, M = Cu2+, n = 5 and M = Zn2+, n = 1) and [M(L)2(H2O)(OH)]?H2O (M = Fe3+) complexes are obtained with the metal:ligand ratio of 1:2 and the L-deprotonated form of repaglinide. They are characterized using the elemental and molar conductance. The infrared, 1H and 13C NMR spectra show the coordination mode of the metal ions to the repaglinide ligand. Magnetic susceptibility measurements and electronic spectra confirm the octahedral geometry around the metal center. The experimental values of FT-IR, 1H, NMR, and electronic spectra are compared with theoretical data obtained by the density functional theory (DFT) using the B3LYP method with the LANL2DZ basis set. Analytical and spectral results suggest that the HL ligand is coordinated to the metal ions via two oxygen atoms of the ethoxy and carboxyl groups. The structural parameters of the optimized geometries of the ligand and the studied complexes are evaluated by theoretical calculations. The order of complexation energies for the obtained structures is as follows:
$$Fe(III) complex < Cu(II) complex < Zn(II) complex < Mn(II) complex.$$
The redox behavior of repaglinide and metal complexes are studied by cyclic voltammetry revealing irreversible redox processes. The presence of repaglinide in the complexes shifts the reduction potentials of the metal ions towards more negative values.

The reactions of [AuClL] with Ag(2)O, where L represents the heterofunctional ligands PPh(2)py and PPh(2)CH(2)CH(2)py, give the trigoldoxonium complexes [O(AuL)(3)]BF(4). Treatment of these compounds with thio- or selenourea affords the triply bridging sulfide or selenide derivatives [E(AuL)(3)]BF(4) (E=S, Se). These trinuclear species react with Ag(OTf) or [Cu(NCMe)(4)]PF(6) to give different results, depending on the phosphine and the metal. The reactions of [E(AuPPh(2)py)(3)]BF(4) with silver or copper salts give [E(AuPPh(2)py)(3)M](2+) (E=O, S, Se; M=Ag, Cu) clusters that are highly luminescent. The silver complexes consist of tetrahedral Au(3)Ag clusters further bonded to another unit through aurophilic interactions, whereas in the copper species two coordination isomers with different metallophilic interactions were found. The first is analogous to the silver complexes and in the second, two [S(AuPPh(2)py)(3)](+) units bridge two copper atoms through one pyridine group in each unit. The reactions of [E(AuPPh(2)CH(2)CH(2)py)(3)]BF(4) with silver and copper salts give complexes with [E(AuPPh(2)CH(2)CH(2)py)(3)M](2+) stoichiometry (E=O, S, Se; M=Ag, Cu) with the metal bonded to the three nitrogen atoms in the absence of AuM interactions. The luminescence of these clusters has been studied by varying the chalcogenide, the heterofunctional ligand, and the metal.  相似文献

The non-symmetric imide ligand Hpypzca (N-(2-pyrazylcarbonyl)-2-pyridinecarboxamide) has been deliberately synthesised and used to produce nine first row transition metal complexes: [M(II)(pypzca)(2)], M = Zn, Cu, Ni, Co, Fe; [M(III)(pypzca)(2)]Y, M = Co and Y = BF(4), M = Fe and Y = ClO(4); [Cu(II)(pypzca)(H(2)O)(2)]BF(4), [Mn(II)(pypzca)(Cl)(2)]HNEt(3). These are the first deliberately prepared complexes of a non-symmetric imide ligand. X-ray crystal structures of [Cu(II)(pypzca)(2)]·H(2)O, [Co(II)(pypzca)(2)], [Co(III)(pypzca)(2)]BF(4), [Cu(II)(pypzca)(H(2)O)(2)]BF(4)·H(2)O and [Mn(II)(pypzca)Cl(2)]HNEt(3) show that each of the (pypzca)(-) ligands binds in a meridional fashion via the N(3) donors. In the first three complexes, two such ligands are bound such that the 'spare' pyrazine nitrogen atoms are positioned approximately orthogonally to one another and also to the imide oxygen atoms. In MeCN the [M(II/III)(pypzca)(2)](0/+) complexes, where M = Ni, Co or Fe, exhibit one reversible metal based M(II/III) process and two distinct, quasi-reversible ligand based reduction processes, the latter also observed for M(II) = Zn. [Mn(II)(pypzca)Cl(2)]HNEt(3) displays a quasi-reversible oxidation process in MeCN, along with several irreversible processes. Both copper(II) complexes show only irreversible processes. Variable temperature magnetic measurements show that [Fe(III)(pypzca)(2)]ClO(4) undergoes a gradual spin crossover from partially high spin at 298 K (3.00 BM) to fully low spin at 2 K (1.96 BM), and that [Co(II)(pypzca)(2)] remains high spin from 298 to 4 K. All of the complexes are weakly coloured, other than [Fe(II)(pypzca)(2)] which is dark purple and absorbs strongly in the visible region.  相似文献
