We consider propagation of a short optical pulse in an optical fiber whose refractive index is strongly dependent on the radial coordinate and is weakly dependent on the longitudinal coordinate with allowance for the possible weak spatial bending of the fiber axis. The three-dimensional nonlinear wave equation modelling the pulse propagation is solved asymptotically with respect to a small parameter specifying the order of magnitude of the pulse amplitude. A relationship between the propagating modes and the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the singular Sturm-Liouville problem is established. The pulse propagation is shown to have three scales: the high-frequency carrier is modulated by the envelope which evolves in a two-scale manner and is described by a nonlinear Schrödinger equation whose coefficients depend on the longitudinal coordinate. The transverse distribution of the wave field and the envelope soliton are obtained in terms of elementary functions for several types of transverse and longitudinal inhomogeneities of the fiber. The possibility of controlling the pulse parameters by varying the transverse and longitudinal inhomogeneities of the fiber is pointed out.  相似文献

We analytically present a family of nonautonomous dark solitons and rogue waves in a planar graded-index grating waveguide with an additional long-period grating.The dark solitons whose dynamics described by the explicit expressions such as the valley,background and wave central position are investigated.We find that dark soliton's depth and the long-period grating have effects on soliton's wave central position;the gain or loss term affects directly both the background and valley of the soliton.For rogue waves,it is reported that one can modulate the distribution of the light intensity by adjusting the parameters of the long-period grating.Additionally,more rogue waves with different evolution behaviors in this special waveguide are demonstrated clearly.  相似文献

Consideration of the vertical sound velocity profile is highly important for solving problems of sound propagation in waveguides and scattering problems. A pulsed echo signal reflected from a spherical scatterer in a waveguide is modeled for the case of a waveguide characterized by sound velocity increasing with depth. The simplest model of the medium is considered in which the scatterer, the source, and the receiver are positioned in a layer with constant sound velocity. Below this layer, the sound velocity increases with depth so that the square of refractive index varies according to linear law. The scattering coefficients for the sphere are calculated using the normal wave method. The number of normal waves forming the echo signal is determined by the preset directionality of the source. Modeling is performed in a frequency band of 70?90 kHz for distances between the scatterer and the transmitter-receiver within 500?1000 m. The transmitted signal has the form of a pulse with cosine envelope and central frequency of 80 kHz.  相似文献

Analytical theory of high-power microwave propagation in waveguide filled with plasma is presented in this paper. The ponderomotive force effect of high power microwave is taken into consideration and preliminary numerical calculations are carried out, the propagation characteristics of the high-power microwave and the influence of microwave power on the distribution of plasma density are calculated and discussed.  相似文献

The harmonic generation of high power microwave in plasma filled waveguide is studied and the analytical theory is presented, and the numerical calculation and analysis of second harmonic are done in this paper. The Su–Schrieffer–Heeger (SSH) model has been the subject of extensive experimental research in the context of topological photonics. Ideally, the on‐site potential and hopping strength are sufficiently accurate for implementation in photonic coupled waveguide arrays. Here, two localized edge modes, the topological zero mode and trivial Tamm mode, are proposed and demonstrated in the modified SSH model using a microwave photonic waveguide array. The system used is composed of an array of evanescently coupled ultrathin corrugated metallic “H‐bar” waveguides. Furthermore, the differences between the zero mode and Tamm mode are clearly demonstrated by microwave near‐field experiments on the coupling behavior along the propagation direction for 40 cm at the excitation frequency of 17 GHz. These findings should deepen the understanding of localized edge mode confinement mechanisms, both in coupled waveguide array systems and other topological or quantum systems.  相似文献

We study the field structure of the Vavilov-Cherenkov radiation in planar and cylindrical waveguides filled with a continuous dielectric medium or a uniaxial crystal. It is shown that the Vavilov-Cherenkov radiation has the form of wave packets propagating with the same phase and group velocities. The mode edges of photonic crystal waveguide with triangular lattice based on a silicon-on-insulator slab are investigated by combination of the effective index method and the two-dimensional plane wave expansion method. The variations of waveguide-mode edges with the structure parameters of photonic crystal are deduced. When the ratio of the radius of air holes to the lattice constant, r/ ∧, is fixed and the lattice constant of photonic crystal, A, increases, the waveguide-mode edges shift to longer wavelengths. When A is fixed and r/∧ increases, the waveguide-mode edges shift to shorter wavelengths. Additionally, when r/∧ and A are both fixed, the radius of the two-row air holes adjacent to the waveguide increases, the waveguide-mode edges shift to shorter wavelengths.  相似文献

The patterns of absorption and reflection of an ultrashort laser pulse by a plasma with a solid-state density, which are realized in the mode of the normal skin effect, are studied. It is shown that a decrease in low-power pulse duration shorter than the period corresponding to the fundamental frequency of radiation leads to an increase in the absorption coefficient. If the pulse power is so high as to provide electron heating during a time shorter than the reciprocal fundamental frequency, nonlinear suppression of absorption takes place and the spectrum of the reflected radiation contains odd harmonics of the fundamental frequency.  相似文献

Using the finite-difference time-domain method, we solve the problem of diffraction of a guided mode of a planar dielectric waveguide by an arbitrary-shaped body. Particular results are obtained for the scatterers in the form of isolated circular and elliptic cylinders and metal strips. We calculate the reflection and transmission coefficients of the mode along with the field structure in the near zone. Comparison with the results obtained by expansion in terms of plane waves is performed for a test problem of diffraction of the mode by a circular metal cylinder.  相似文献

A model describing the ionization of atoms and ions in a cluster under irradiation by a short laser pulse has been constructed. It is shown that the electron-impact ionization weakly affects the final charge composition, and the main mechanism of ion formation in the cluster is the over-barrier ionization by an electric field. The electric field acting on atoms and ions is the result of combined action of the external laser field and the intrinsic electric field of the cluster. The key parameters of the cluster beam and the laser pulse, which determine the properties of the charge composition of the cluster plasma, have been established.  相似文献

Using the characteristic of small energy difference between two high Rydberg states, we theoretically investigate the carrier envelope phase (CEP) effect in a bound-bound transition of an atom in a low-frequency long laser pulse with tens of optical cycles. Particularly, we first prepare a Rydberg state of a hydrogen-like atom by a laser field with the resonant frequency between this state and the ground state. Then by using a low-frequency long laser pulse interacting with this Rydberg atom, we calculate the population of another Rydberg state nearby this Rydberg state at the end of the laser pulse and find that the population changes dramatically with the CEP of the low-frequency pulse. This CEP effect is attributed to the interference between the positive-frequency and negative-frequency components in one-photon transition. These results may provide a method to measure the CEP value of a long laser pulse with low frequency.  相似文献

Based on particular solutions of a system of wave equations which describe electromagnetic processes in an unbounded biisotropic medium and are represented in the form of generalized power series, a dispersion equation is obtained for a two-layer circular waveguide with a chiral and a dielectric layer. 考虑了当射频调制的超短脉冲电子束径向长度远小于辐射波长时,将其理想化为δ时间函数,提出了用波导本往模展开的方法来计算矩形波导中超短脉冲电子束的相干同步辐射及其频率特性。结果表明:(1)当谐振频率等于调制电子束微脉冲时间隔的射频的整数倍时,辐射模式表现为“纯”的波导本征模。(2)波导效应使得超短脉冲电子束在两个频率处发生相干同步辐射,而且低频支的辐射功率高于高频支的。最后指出波导自由电子激光器单横模  相似文献

针对激光惯性约束聚变实验研究对高功率激光驱动器前端系统复杂时间形状种子激光脉冲的需求,应用孔径耦合带状线集成波导整形系统设计了满足需要的前端整形激光脉冲。用一种新方法精确计算了孔径耦合带状线电脉冲整形器的耦合系数和孔径宽度的数值关系,并针对高衬比度整形激光脉冲的需求,提出了高衬比度双极型集成波导整形系统方案。由该系统可以得到100 ps脉冲前沿、1~3 ns脉冲宽度可调、高衬比度(大于100:1)、光滑无纹波调制、可精确满足神光Ⅱ八路及第九路装置需求的前端整形激光脉冲。  相似文献
