Das nachstehende Referat gibt das Ergebnis einer Untersuchung wieder, die der Arbeitskreis ?Methoden zur Schätzung der Prämienreserven“ im Auftrage des Ausschusses für Betriebstechnik des Verbandes der Lebensversicherungsunternehmen angestellt hat. Es erscheint gleichzeitig als 9. Folge der Schriftenreihe ?Betriebstechnische Fragen der Lebensversicherung“; Herausgeber Verband der Lebensversicherungsunternehmen e.V., Bonn. Die Arbeiten wurden von den Herren C. Boehm, H. v. Denffer, K. Klingner, P. Leepin und F. Rueff durchgeführt.

Generalizing results in [1], [3], [5], and [7] it is shown that the algebra generated by the quasi-regular representation of a discrete groupG onl ² (G/H) satisfies a standard polynomial identity if and only if (G) contains an abelian normal subgroup of finite index. Summary The change of states of a closed thermodynamic system having two degrees of freedom can be expressed analytically by means of the isentropic and the isenthalpic exponents, suitably defined. By imposing certain plausible conditions on these exponents, it can be shown that many well-known formulae, originally derived for an ideal gas with constant specific heat, become applicable more generally. Low pressure wet steam of not too low dryness fraction as occurred in the low-pressure stages of condensing turbines obeys these imposed conditions fairly well.The problem of supersaturation and of the drift toward equilibrium has been briefly touched upon.     

Bifurkation von Minimalflächen und elementare Katastrophen

Suppose _o is a Jordan curve in ³, bounding a minimal surface f_o, and _r a homotopy of _o. Sometimes it will happen, that there is a uniquely determined homotopy f_r of minimal surfaces, having _r as boundary curve. But there may also be a bifurcation at _o, in which, for instance, two or more different minimal surfaces are bounded by _r for r0, but all those surfaces converge to f_o as r converges to 0. In this paper we investigate minimal surfaces of the type of a disc, being represented by the Weierstra formula, and we consider small perturbations of the boundary curve _o. We then deduce conditions, under which the bifurcation process of f_o can be described in terms of the fold-, cusp- or swallowtail- catastrophe of Thom's celebrated list of the 7 elementary catastrophes. This will be possible, although the perturbation takes place in an infinite-dimensional space.
