Composition operators acting on holomorphic Sobolev spaces

We study the action of composition operators on Sobolev spaces of analytic functions having fractional derivatives in some weighted Bergman space or Hardy space on the unit disk. Criteria for when such operators are bounded or compact are given. In particular, we find the precise range of orders of fractional derivatives for which all composition operators are bounded on such spaces. Sharp results about boundedness and compactness of a composition operator are also given when the inducing map is polygonal.

     

Composition operators acting between hardy spaces

A function-theoretic necessary and sufficient condition on a symbol is given for the compactness of the induced composition operator acting betweenH ^p andH ^q , forq. Compact differences of such composition operators are shown to occur only in the trivial case of both operators being compact themselves.     

Compact composition operators on Besov spaces

We give a Carleson measure characterization of the compact composition operators on Besov spaces. We use this characterization to show that every compact composition operator on a Besov space is compact on the Bloch space. Finally we give conditions that guarantee that the converse holds.

     

Integral-type operators on continuous function spaces on the real line

In this paper we introduce some new sequences of positive linear operators, acting on a sufficiently large space of continuous functions on the real line, which generalize Gauss–Weierstrass operators.We study their approximation properties and prove an asymptotic formula that relates such operators to a second order elliptic differential operator of the form Lu?αu^′′+βu^′+γu.Shape-preserving and regularity properties are also investigated.     

Isometric composition operators on the analytic Besov spaces

We investigate the isometric composition operators on the analytic Besov spaces. For 1<p<2$1<p<2$ we show that an isometric composition operator is induced only by a rotation of the disk. For p>2$p>2$, we extend previous work on the subject. Finally, we analyze this same problem for the Besov spaces with an equivalent norm.

We obtain estimates of the norm of Toeplitz operators on weighted Hardy and Besov spaces. As an application we give characterizations of some spaces of pointwise multipliers.     

Composition operators on Orlicz spaces

Composition operators on Dirichlet-type spaces

The Dirichlet-type space ) is the Banach space of functions analytic in the unit disc with derivatives belonging to the Bergman space . Let be an analytic self-map of the disc and define for . The operator is bounded (respectively, compact) if and only if a related measure is Carleson (respectively, compact Carleson). If is bounded (or compact) on , then the same behavior holds on ) and on the weighted Dirichlet space . Compactness on implies that is compact on the Hardy spaces and the angular derivative exists nowhere on the unit circle. Conditions are given which, together with the angular derivative condition, imply compactness on the space . Inner functions which induce bounded composition operators on are discussed briefly.

     

Composition operators on Lizorkin-Triebel spaces

This paper is devoted to the study of the composition operator Tf(g):=f○g on Lizorkin-Triebel spaces . In case s>1+(1/p), 1<p<∞, and 1?q?∞ we will prove the following: the operator Tf takes to itself if and only if f(0)=0 and f belongs locally to .     

Shift-invariant spaces on the real line

We investigate the structure of shift-invariant spaces generated by a finite number of compactly supported functions in . Based on a study of linear independence of the shifts of the generators, we characterize such shift-invariant spaces in terms of the semi-convolutions of the generators with sequences on . Moreover, we show that such a shift-invariant space provides -approximation order if and only if it contains all polynomials of degree less than .

     

Numerical range of operators acting on Banach spaces

The aim of the paper is to propose a definition of numerical range of an operator on reflexive Banach spaces. Under this definition the numerical range will possess the basic properties of a canonical numerical range. We will determine necessary and sufficient conditions under which the numerical range of a composition operator on a weighted Hardy space is closed. We will also give some necessary conditions to show that when the closure of the numerical range of a composition operator on a small weighted Hardy space has zero.     

Composition operators on Bloch-Orlicz type spaces

In this paper we use Young’s functions to define the Bloch-Orlicz spaces as a generalization of Bloch spaces. We study continuity, boundedness from below and compactness of composition operators on Bloch-Orlicz spaces.     

Composition operators on weighted Dirichlet spaces

We characterize bounded and compact composition operators on weighted Dirichlet spaces. The method involves integral averages of the determining function for the operator, and the connection between composition operators on Dirichlet spaces and Toeplitz operators on Bergman spaces. We also present several examples and counter-examples that point out the borderlines of the result and its connections to other themes.
