Existing studies on the coupled electroelastic behaviour of cracked piezoelectric media have been based mostly on the electrically impermeable and permeable crack models. The current paper presents a study of the effective electroelastic property of piezoelectric media weakened by parallel cracks using a dielectric crack model with the electric boundary condition along the crack surfaces being governed by the opening displacement. The theoretical formulation is obtained using the dilute model of distributed cracks and the solution of a single dielectric crack problem. It is observed that the effective electroelastic property of cracked piezoelectric media is nonlinear and sensitive to loading conditions. Different modes of crack deformation are predicted and discussed. Attention is paid to the transition between electrically permeable and impermeable crack models.  相似文献

The assumptions of impermeable and permeable cracks give rise to significant errors in determining electro-elastic behavior of a cracked piezoelectric material. The former simply imposes that the permittivity or electric displacement of the crack interior vanishes, and the latter neglects also the effects of the dielectric of an opening crack interior. Considering the presence of the dielectric of an opening crack interior and the permeability of the crack surfaces for electric field, this paper analyzes electro-elastic behavior induced by a penny-shaped dielectric crack in a piezoelectric ceramic layer. In the cases of prescribed displacement or prescribed stress at the layer surfaces, the Hankel transform technique is employed to reduce the problem to Fredholm integral equations with a parameter dependent nonlinearly on the unknown functions. For an infinite piezoelectric space, a closed-form solution can be derived explicitly, while for a piezoelectric layer, an iterative technique is suggested to solve the resulting nonlinear equations. Field intensity factors are obtained in terms of the solution of the equations. Numerical results of the crack opening displacement intensity factors are presented for a cracked PZT-5H layer and the effect of applied electric field on crack growth are examined for both cases. The results indicate that the fracture toughness of a piezoelectric ceramic is affected by the direction of applied electric fields, dependent on the elastic boundary conditions.  相似文献

This study is concerned with the treatment of the dynamic behavior of interacting cracks in a piezoelectric layer bonded to two dissimilar piezoelectric half planes subjected to harmonic anti-plane shear waves. The permeable electric boundary condition is considered. By use of the Fourier transform technique, the problem can be solved with the help of two pairs of dual integral equations in which the unknown variables are the jumps of the displacements across the crack surfaces. To solve the dual integral equations, the jumps of the displacements across the crack surfaces are expanded in two series of Jacobi polynomials. The electromechanical behavior of two pairs of unequal parallel cracks was determined. Numerical examples are provided to show the effects of the geometry of the cracks, the frequency of the incident waves and materials properties upon the dynamic stress intensity factors (DSIFs) and the electric displacement intensity factors.  相似文献

The behavior of two parallel non-symmetric cracks in piezoelectric materials subjected to the anti-plane shear loading was studied by the Schmidt method for the permeable crack electric boundary conditions. Through the Fourier transform, the present problem can be solved with two pairs of dual integral equations ip which the unknown variables are the jumps of displacements across crack surfaces. To solve the dual integral equations, the jumps of displacements across crack surfaces were directly expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials. Finally, the relations between electric displacement intensity factors and stress intensity factors at crack tips can be obtained. Numerical examples are provided to show the effect of the distance between two cracks upon stress and electric displacement intensity factors at crack tips. Contrary to the impermeable crack surface condition solution, it is found that electric displacement intensity factors for the permeable crack surface conditions are much smaller than those for the impermeable crack surface conditions. At the same time, it can be found that the crack shielding effect is also present in the piezoelectric materials.  相似文献

This paper provides a study of the problem of a propagating finite crack under in-plane loading in functionally graded piezoelectric materials (FGPMs). The analytical formulations are developed by Fourier transforms and the resulting singular integral equations are solved by using Chebyshev polynomials. By using a dielectric crack model with deformation-dependent electric boundary condition, numerical simulations are made to show the effects of the dielectric medium, the gradient of material properties and the speed of crack propagation on the fracture parameters, such as the stress, electric displacement and crack opening displacement intensity factors. A critical state for the electromechanical loading applied to the FGPMs is observed, which determines whether the traditionally impermeable (or permeable) crack model serves as the upper or lower bound for the dielectric model. The validity of this dielectric crack model is also examined by comparing the results of different existing crack models.  相似文献

An axisymmetric annular electric dislocation is defined. The solution of axisymmetric electric and Volterra climb and glide dislocations in an infinite transversely isotropic piezoelectric domain is obtained by means of Hankel transforms. The distributed dislocation technique is used to construct integral equations for a system of co-axial annular cracks with so-called permeable and impermeable electric boundary conditions on the crack faces where the domain is under axisymmetric electromechanical loading. These equations are solved numerically to obtain dislocation densities on the crack surfaces. The dislocation densities are employed to determine field intensity factors for a system of interacting annular and/or penny-shaped cracks.  相似文献

There are three types of cracks: impermeable crack, permeable crack and conducting crack, with different electric boundary conditions on faces of cracks in piezoelectric ceramics, which poses difficulties in the analysis of piezoelectric fracture problems. In this paper, in contrast to our previous FEM formulation, the numerical analysis is based on the used of exact electric boundary conditions at the crack faces, thus the common assumption of electric impermeability in the FEM analysis is avoided. The crack behavior and elasto-electric fields near a crack tip in a PZT-5 piezoelectric ceramic under mechanical, electrical and coupled mechanical-electrical loads with different electric boundary conditions on crack faces are investigated. It is found that the dielectric medium between the crack faces will reduce the singularity of stress and electric displacement. Furthermore, when the permittivity of the dielectric medium in the crack gap is of the same order as that of the piezoelectric ceramic, the crack becomes a conducting crack, the applied electric field has no effect on the crack propagation. Dynamic analysis of two collinear electro-magnetically dielectric cracks in a piezoelectromagnetic material is made under in-plane magneto-electro-mechanical impacts. Generalized semi-permeable crack-face boundary conditions are proposed to simulate realistic opening cracks with dielectric. Ideal boundary conditions of a combination of electrically permeable or impermeable and magnetically permeable or impermeable assumptions are several limiting cases of the semi-permeable dielectric crack. Utilizing the Laplace and Fourier transforms, the mixed initial-boundary-value problem is reduced to solving singular integral equations with Cauchy kernel. Dynamic intensity factors of stress, electric displacement, magnetic induction and crack opening displacement (COD) near the inner and outer crack tips are determined in the Laplace transform domain. Numerical results for a special magnetoelectroelastic solid are calculated to show the influences of the dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability inside the cracks on the crack-face electric displacement and magnetic induction. By means of a numerical inversion of the Laplace transform, the variations of the normalized intensity factors of stress and COD are discussed against applied magnetoelectric impact loadings and the geometry of the cracks for fully impermeable, vacuum, fully permeable cracks and shown in graphics.  相似文献

Based on the Stroh-type formalism, we present a concise analytic method to solve the problem of complicated defects in piezoelectric materials. Using this method and the technique of conformal mapping, the problem of two non-symmetrical collinear cracks emanating from an elliptical hole in a piezoelectric solid is investigated under remotely uniform in-plane electric loading and anti-plane mechanical loading. The exact solutions of the field intensity factors and the energy release rate are presented in closed-form under the permeable electric boundary condition. With the variation of the geometrical parameters, the present results can be reduced to the well-known results of a mode-III crack in piezoelectric materials. Moreover, new special models used for simulating more practical defects in a piezoelectric solid are obtained, such as two symmetrical edge cracks and single edge crack emanating from an elliptical hole or circular hole, T-shaped crack, cross-shaped crack, and semi-infinite plane with an edge crack. Numerical results are then presented to reveal the effects of geometrical parameters and the applied mechanical loading on the field intensity factors and the energy release rate.  相似文献

In this paper, the dynamic behavior of two parallel symmetric cracks in piezoelectric materials under harmonic anti-plane shear waves is investigated by use of the non-local theory for permeable crack surface conditions. To overcome the mathematical difficulties, a one-dimensional non-local kernel is used instead of a two-dimensional one for the problem to obtain the stress occurs near the crack tips. By means of the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with the help of two pairs of dual integral equations that the unknown variables are the jumps of the displacement along the crack surfaces. These equations are solved using the Schmidt method. Numerical examples are provided. Contrary to the previous results, it is found that no stress and electric displacement singularity is present near the crack tip. The non-local elastic solutions yield a finite hoop stress near the crack tip, thus allowing for a fracture criterion based on the maximum stress hypothesis. The finite hoop stress at the crack tip depends on the crack length, the frequency of the incident wave, the distance between two cracks and the lattice parameter of the materials, respectively. Contrary to the impermeable crack surface condition solution, it is found that the dynamic electric displacement for the permeable crack surface conditions is much smaller than the results for the impermeable crack surface conditions. The results show that the dynamic field will impede or enhance crack propagation in the piezoelectric materials at different stages of the dynamic load.  相似文献

This paper investigates the dynamic behaviour of a piezoelectric laminate containing multiple interfacial collinear cracks subjected to steady-state electro-mechanical loads. Both the permeable and impermeable boundary conditions are examined and discussed. Based on the use of integral transform techniques, the problem is reduced to a set of singular integral equations, which can be solved using Chebyshev polynomial expansions. Numerical results are provided to show the effect of the geometry of interacting collinear cracks, the applied electric fields, the electric boundary conditions along the crack faces and the loading frequency on the resulting dynamic stress intensity and electric displacement intensity factors.  相似文献

Studied is the problem of a periodic array of cracks in a functionally graded piezoelectric strip bonded to a homogeneous piezoelectric material. The properties of the functionally graded piezoelectric strip, such as elastic modulus, piezoelectric constant and dielectric constant, are assumed in exponential forms and vary along the crack direction. The crack surface condition is assumed to be electrically impermeable or permeable. Integral transform and dislocation density functions are employed to reduce the problem to the solution of a system of singular integral equations. The effects of the periodic crack spacing, material constants and the geometry parameters on the stress intensity factor, the energy release ratio and the energy density factor are studied.  相似文献

The solutions of a 3-D rectangular permeable crack and two 3-D rectangular permeable cracks in a piezoelectric material were investigated by using the generalized Almansi’s theorem and the Schmidt method. The problem was formulated through Fourier transform into three pairs of dual integral equations, in which the unknown variables are the displacement jumps across the crack surfaces. To solve the dual integral equations, the displacement jumps across the crack surfaces were directly expanded as a series of Jacobi polynomials. Finally, the effects of the shape of the rectangular crack and the distance between two rectangular cracks on the stress and electric displacement intensity factors in a piezoelectric material were analyzed. These results can be used for the strength and the coupling effect evaluation of cracked piezoelectric materials.  相似文献

In this paper, the behavior of four parallel symmetric cracks in a piezoelectric material under anti-plane shear loading is studied by the Schmidt method for the permeable crack surface boundary conditions. By use of the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with the help of two pairs of triple integral equations that the unknown variables are the jumps of the displacement across the crack surfaces. These equations are solved by means of the Schmidt method. The results show that the stress and the electric displacement intensity factors of cracks depend on the geometry of the crack. Contrary to the impermeable crack surface condition solution, it is found that the electric displacement intensity factors for the permeable crack surface conditions are much smaller than the results for the impermeable crack surface conditions.  相似文献

This work deals with the mode III fracture problem of a cracked functionally graded piezoelectric surface layer bonded to a cracked functionally graded piezoelectric substrate. The cracks are normal to the interface and the electro-elastic material properties are assumed to be varied along the crack direction. Potential and flux types of boundary condition are assigned on the edge of the surface layer. The problem under the assumptions of impermeable and permeable cracks can be formulated to the standard singular integral equations, which are solved by using the Gauss–Chebyshev technique. The effects of the boundary conditions, the material properties and crack interaction on the stress and electric displacement intensity factors are discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, the basic solutions of two parallel mode-I cracks or four parallel mode-I cracks in the piezoelectric materials were investigated by means of the Schmidt method for the limited-permeable electric boundary conditions. The electric permittivity of air in the crack was considered. Through the Fourier transform, the problems can be solved with the help of two pairs of dual integral equations, in which the unknown variables were the jumps of the displacements across the crack surfaces, not the dislocation density functions. To solve the dual integral equations, the jumps of the displacements across the crack surfaces were directly expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials. Finally, the effects of the distance between two parallel cracks, the distance between two collinear cracks and the electric boundary conditions on the stress and the electric intensity factors in the piezoelectric materials are analyzed. These results can be used for the strength evaluation of the piezoelectric materials with multi-cracks. The crack shielding effect is also present in the piezoelectric materials.  相似文献

Closed-form solution for two collinear cracks in a piezoelectric strip   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Under the permeable electric boundary condition, the problem of two collinear anti-plane shear cracks lying at the mid-plane of a piezoelectric strip is investigated. By using the Fourier transform, the associated problem is reduced to a singular integral equation. Solving the resulting equation analytically, the electro-elastic field intensity factors and energy release rates at the inner and outer crack tips can be determined in explicit form. Numerical results for PZT-5H piezoelectric ceramic are also presented graphically. The results reveal that the effect of electric field on crack growth in piezoelectric materials is dependent on applied elastic displacement.  相似文献

The dynamic response of multiple coplanar interface cracks between two dissimilar piezoelectric strips subjected to mechanical and electrical impacts is investigated. Solutions to two kinds of electric boundary conditions on crack surfaces, i.e. electric impermeable and electric permeable, are obtained. Laplace and Fourier transforms and dislocation density functions are employed to reduce the mixed boundary value problem to Cauchy singular integral equations, which can be solved numerically. The effects of electrical load, geometry criterion of piezoelectric strips, relative location of cracks and material properties on the dynamic energy release rate are examined.  相似文献
