This paper focuses on the free vibration analysis of thick, rotating laminated composite conical shells with different boundary conditions based on the three-dimensional theory, using the layerwise differential quadrature method (LW-DQM). The equations of motion are derived applying the Hamilton’s principle. In order to accurately account for the thickness effects, the layerwise theory is used to discretize the equations of motion and the related boundary conditions through the thickness of the shells. Then, the equations of motion as well as the boundary condition equations are transformed into a set of algebraic equation applying the DQM in the meridional direction. This study demonstrates the applicability, accuracy, stability and the fast rate of convergence of the present method, for free vibration analyses of rotating thick laminated conical shells. The presented results are compared with those of other shell theories obtained using conventional methods and a special case where the angle of the conical shell approaches zero, that is, a cylindrical shell and excellent agreements are achieved.  相似文献

A three-dimensional (3D) free vibration analysis of simply supported, doubly curved functionally graded (FG) magneto-electro-elastic shells with closed-circuit surface conditions is presented using the method of perturbation. By means of the direct elimination, we firstly reduce the twenty-nine basic equations of 3D magneto-electro-elasticity to ten differential equations in terms of ten primary variables of magnetic, electric and elastic fields. The method of multiple scales is introduced to eliminate the secular terms in various order problems of the present formulation so that the present asymptotic expansion to the primary field variables leads to be uniform and feasible. Through the mathematical manipulation of nondimensionalization, asymptotic expansion and successive integration, we finally obtain recurrent sets of governing equations for various order problems. The coupled classical shell theory (CST) is derived as a first-order approximation to the 3D magneto-electro-elasticity. Higher-order modifications can be further determined by considering the solvability and orthonormality conditions in a systematic and consistent way. Some benchmark solutions for the free vibration analysis of FG elastic and piezoelectric plates are used to validate the performance of the present asymptotic formulation. The influence of the material-property gradient index on the natural frequencies and corresponding modal field variables of the FG shells is mainly concerned.  相似文献

This paper presents the extension of a two-dimensional model that, recently appeared in literature, deals with freely vibrating laminated plates. The extension takes into account the corresponding theory describing the dynamic of freely vibrating multilayered doubly curved shells. The relevant governing differential equations, associated boundary conditions and constitutive equations are derived from one of Reissner’s mixed variational theorems. Both the governing differential equations and the related boundary conditions are presented in terms of resultant stresses and displacements. In spite of the multi-layer nature of the shell, the theory is developed as if the shell were virtually made of a single layer. This choice does not limit the performances of the model, which are comparable to the corresponding three-dimensional theory. This ability is accomplished by an appropriate global expansion of the relevant kinetic and stress quantities, through the thickness of the multilayered shell. The mentioned expansion is realized by a novel selection of global piecewise-smooth functions. Numerical tests illustrate the performance of the model with respect to several elements subjected to a class of simply supported boundary conditions: plates, circular cylindrical shells, spherical and saddle-shape laminates. The model is first tested by comparing its resulting eigen-parameters, with those few existing of exact or approximate three-dimensional models and, finally, new results are provided for several geometrical and material characteristics for plates and shells.  相似文献

A Donnell type theory is developed for finite deflection of closely stiffened truncatedlaminated composite conical shells under arbitrary loads by using the variational calculusand smeared-stiffener theory. The most general bending-stretching coupling and the effectof eccentricity of stiffeners are considered. The equilibrium equations, boundary conditionsand the equation of compatibility are derived. The new equations.of the mixed-type ofstiffened laminated composite conical shells are obtained in terms of the transversedeflection and stress function. The simplified equations are also given for some commonlyencountered cases.  相似文献

Differential equations of the general theory describing the stress-strain state of conical shells are very complicated, and when computing the exact solution of the problem by analytic methods one encounters severe or even so far insurmountable difficulties. Therefore, in the present paper we develop an approach based on the method of asymptotic synthesis of the stressed state, which has already proved efficient when solving similar problems for cylindrical shells [1, 2]. We essentially use the fourth-order differential equations obtained by Kan [3], which describe the ground state and the boundary effect. Earlier, such equations have already been used to solve problems concerning force and thermal actions on weakly conical shells [4–6]. By applying the asymptotic synthesis method to these equations, we manage to obtain sufficiently accurate closed-form solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, a unified Chebyshev–Ritz formulation is presented to investigate the vibrations of composite laminated deep open shells with various shell curvatures and arbitrary restraints, including cylindrical, conical and spherical ones. The general first-order shear deformation shell theory is employed to include the effects of rotary inertias and shear deformation. Under the current framework, regardless of boundary conditions, each of displacements and rotations of the open shells is invariantly expressed as Chebyshev orthogonal polynomials of first kind in both directions. Then, the accurate solutions are obtained by using the Rayleigh–Ritz procedure based on the energy functional of the open shells. The convergence and accuracy of the present formulation are verified by a considerable number of convergence tests and comparisons. A variety of numerical examples are presented for the vibrations of the composite laminated deep shells with various geometric dimensions and lamination schemes. Different sets of classical constraints, elastic supports as well as their combinations are considered. These results may serve as reference data for future researches. Parametric studies are also undertaken, giving insight into the effects of elastic restraint parameters, fiber orientation, layer number, subtended angle as well as conical angle on the vibration frequencies of the composite open shells.  相似文献

We analyze the steady-state response of a functionally graded thick cylindrical shell subjected to thermal and mechanical loads. The functionally graded shell is simply supported at the edges and it is assumed to have an arbitrary variation of material properties in the radial direction. The three-dimensional steady-state heat conduction and thermoelasticity equations, simplified to the case of generalized plane strain deformations in the axial direction, are solved analytically. Suitable temperature and displacement functions that identically satisfy the boundary conditions at the simply supported edges are used to reduce the thermoelastic equilibrium equations to a set of coupled ordinary differential equations with variable coefficients, which are then solved by the power series method. In the present formulation, the cylindrical shell is assumed to be made of an orthotropic material, although the analytical solution is also valid for isotropic materials. Results are presented for two-constituent isotropic and fiber-reinforced functionally graded shells that have a smooth variation of material volume fractions, and/or in-plane fiber orientations, through the radial direction. The cylindrical shells are also analyzed using the Flügge and the Donnell shell theories. Displacements and stresses from the shell theories are compared with the three-dimensional exact solution to delineate the effects of transverse shear deformation, shell thickness and angular span.  相似文献

We consider the stress-strain state of thin conical shells in the case of arbitary distribution of the temperature field over the shell. We obtain equations of the general theory based on the classical Kirchhoff-Love hypotheses alone. But since these equations are very complicated, attempts to construct exact solutions by analytic methods encounter considerable or insurmountable difficulties. Therefore, the present paper deals with boundary value problems posed for simplified differential equations. The total stress-strain state is constructed by “gluing” together the solutions of these equations. Such an approach (the asymptotic synthesis method) turns out to be efficient in studying not only shells of positive and zero curvature [1, 2] and cylindrical shells [3] but also conical shells [4, 5]. Here we illustrate it by an example of an arbitrary temperature field, and the problem is reduced to solving differential equations with polynomial coefficients and with right-hand side containing the Heaviside function, the delta function, and their derivatives.  相似文献

In this paper, an analytical procedure is given to study the free vibration of the laminated homogeneous and non-homogeneous orthotropic conical shells with freely supported edges. The basic relations, the modified Donnell type motion and compatibility equations have been derived for laminated orthotropic truncated conical shells with variable Young’s moduli and densities in the thickness direction of the layers. By applying the Galerkin method, to the basic equations, the expressions for the dimensionless frequency parameter of the laminated homogeneous and non-homogeneous orthotropic truncated conical shells are obtained. The appropriate formulas for the single-layer and laminated complete conical and cylindrical shells made of homogeneous and non-homogeneous, orthotropic and isotropic materials are found as a special case. Finally, the influences of the non-homogeneity, the number and ordering of layers and the variations of the conical shell characteristics on the dimensionless frequency parameter are investigated. The results obtained for homogeneous cases are compared with their counterparts in the literature.  相似文献

Shell equations are constructed in orthogonal curvilinear coordinates using approximations of stresses and displacements by Legendre polynomials. The order of the constructed system of differential equations is independent of whether stresses and displacements or their combination are specified on the shell surfaces, which provides the correct formulation of the surface conditions in terms of both displacements and stresses. This allows the system of differential equations of laminated shells to be constructed using matching conditions for displacements and stresses on the contact surfaces. __________ Translated from Prikladnaya Mekhanika i Tekhnicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 48, No. 3, pp. 179–190, May–June, 2007.  相似文献

Based on the general six-degrees-of-freedom plate theory towards the accurate stress analysis and nonlinear theory of shallow shells, considering the damage effect of the interlaminar interface and using the variation principle, the three-dimensional non-linear equilibrium differential equations of the laminated shallow shells with interfacial damage are derived. Then, considering a simply supported laminated shallow shell with damage and under normal load, an analytical solution is presented by using finite difference method to obtain the interlaminar stresses. Numerical results show, the stiffness of the shell is weakened, greater absolute values of displacements as well as smaller interlaminar stresses are obtained by interfacial damage. When the interfacial damage is further increased, delamination occurs obviously under normal pulling load and pure shear slip occurs under normal pressure load. The portion of the load undertaken by the two sides of the interface is more different. Different mechanical behaviors are shown in both sides of the interface, and the discontinuation of stresses and displacements takes place in the interface.  相似文献

The generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) is employed to consider the free vibration and critical speed of moderately thick rotating laminated composite conical shells with different boundary conditions developed from the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The equations of motion are obtained applying Hamilton’s concept, which contain the influence of the centrifugal force, the Coriolis acceleration, and the preliminary hoop stress. In addition, the axial load is applied to the conical shell as a ratio of the global critical buckling load. The governing partial differential equations are given in the expressions of five components of displacement related to the points lying on the reference surface of the shell. Afterward, the governing differential equations are converted into a group of algebraic equations by using the GDQM. The outcomes are achieved considering the effects of stacking sequences, thickness of the shell, rotating velocities, half-vertex cone angle, and boundary conditions. Furthermore, the outcomes indicate that the rate of the convergence of frequencies is swift, and the numerical technique is superior stable. Three comparisons between the selected outcomes and those of other research are accomplished, and excellent agreement is achieved.  相似文献

Three-dimensional (3D) solutions for the static analysis of doubly curved functionally graded (FG) magneto-electro-elastic shells are presented by an asymptotic approach. In the present formulation, the twenty-nine basic equations are firstly reduced to ten differential equations in terms of ten primary variables of elastic, electric and magnetic fields. After performing through the mathematical manipulation of nondimensionalization, asymptotic expansion and successive integration, we finally obtain recurrent sets of two-dimensional (2D) governing equations for various order problems. These 2D governing equations are merely those derived in the classical shell theory (CST) based on the extended Love–Kirchhoffs' assumptions. Hence, the CST-type governing equations are derived as a first-order approximation to the 3D magneto-electro-elasticity. The leading-order solutions and higher-order corrections can be determined by treating the CST-type governing equations in a systematic and consistent way. The 3D solutions for the static analysis of doubly curved multilayered and FG magneto-electro-elastic shells are presented to demonstrate the performance of the present asymptotic formulation. The coupling magneto-electro-elastic effect on the structural behavior of the shells is studied.  相似文献

The non-linear free and forced vibrations of simply supported thin circular cylindrical shells are investigated using Lagrange's equations and an improved transverse displacement expansion. The purpose of this approach was to provide engineers and designers with an easy method for determining the shell non-linear mode shapes, with their corresponding amplitude dependent non-linear frequencies. The Donnell non-linear shell theory has been used and the flexural deformations at large vibration amplitudes have been taken into account. The transverse displacement expansion has been made using two terms including both the driven and the axisymmetric modes, and satisfying the simply supported boundary conditions. The non-linear dynamic variational problem obtained by applying Lagrange's equations was then transformed into a static case by adopting the harmonic balance method. Minimisation of the energy functional with respect to the basic function contribution coefficients has led to a simple non-linear multi-modal equation, the solution of which gives in the case of a single mode assumption an expression for the non-linear frequencies which is much simpler than that derived from the non-linear partial differential equation obtained previously by several authors. Quantitative results based on the present approach have been computed and compared with experimental data. The good agreement found was very satisfactory, in comparison with previous old and recent theoretical approaches, based on sophisticated numerical methods, such as the finite element method (FEM), the method of normal forms (MNF), and analytical methods, such as the perturbation method.  相似文献

A constitutive model for composite laminated plates with the damage effect of the intra-layers and inter-laminar interface is presented. The model is based on the general six-degrees-of-freedom plate theory, the discontinuity of displacement on the interfaces are depicted by three shape functions, which are formulated according to solutions satisfying three equilibrium equations, By using the variation principle, the three-dimensional non-linear equilibrium differential equations of the laminated plates with two different damage models are derived. Then, considering a simply supported laminated plate with damage, an analytical solution is presented using finite difference method to obtain the inter-laminar stresses.  相似文献
