Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC x GC) with micro electron-capture detection (microECD) has been optimised for the separation of polychlorinated biphenyl congeners with emphasis on the separation of 12 toxic non- and mono-ortho chlorinated biphenyls (CBs), viz. CBs 77, 81, 105, 114, 118, 123, 126, 156, 157, 167, 169 and 189. The selection of the first- and second-dimension columns and the temperature programme optimisation were carried out with a mixture of 90 CBs and the results are compared with those of one-dimensional GC. A complete separation of all 12 priority CBs was obtained with two column combinations, HP-1-HT-8 and HP-1-SupelcoWax-10. With the HP-1-HT-8 column set, ordered structures show up in the two-dimensional plane, with the number of chlorine substituents and their position (ortho vs. non-ortho) being the main parameters of interest. This can help with congener identification. Estimated detection limits are excellent, i.e. about 10 fg. To illustrate the potential and the versatility of GC x GC-microECD, a cod liver extract and a standard mixture of the 17 most toxic polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans together with 90 CBs were analysed as an application.  相似文献

Trace analysis of 2,3,7,8-polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and the 12 WHO-PCBs (four non-ortho and eight mono-ortho congeners that have been assigned toxic equivalence factors, TEFs, by the World Health Organisation) was conducted by comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with a micro electron-capture detector (GC x GC-microECD). Four food matrices (fish oil from herring, spiked cows' milk, vegetable oil and an eel extract) were analysed by two GC x GC laboratories, and four GC-HRMS laboratories generated reference values. The two GC x GC laboratories used different column combinations for separating the target analytes. For the first dimension, non-polar DB-XLB and VF-1 columns were used, and for the second dimension, an LC-50 liquid crystalline column with unique selectivity for planar compounds. The congener-specific and total toxic equivalence (TEQ) data obtained using DB-XLB x LC-50 were in good agreement with results obtained by the GC-HRMS laboratories. The WHO-PCB data obtained with the VF-1 x LC-50 combination was also good, but the PCDD/F concentrations were sometimes overestimated due to matrix interferences. GC x GC-microECD using DB-XLB x LC-50 seems to fulfil the European Community requirements of a screening method for PCDD/F and WHO-PCB TEQ in food.  相似文献

Selectively alkylated cyclodextrins have been used to resolve the enantiomers of 2,2′ alkylated biphenyls. The configurational stability of 2,2′-dimethyl and 2,2′-diethyl biphenyls is insufficient for gas chromatographic separation even at ambient temperature. 2-Isopropyl-2′-t-butyl- and 2,2′-di-t-butylbiphenyl are configurationally stable under the conditions applied, whereas 2,2′-diisopropyl- and 2,2′-bis(trifluoromethyl)biphenyl show temperature-dependent interconversion of the enantiomers during chromatography. The gas chromatographic separation of the enantiomers of some ortho trichlorinated biphenyls carrying 4, 5, and 6 chlorine substituents has been demonstrated for the first time.  相似文献

建立了微波辅助萃取-气相色谱-微电子捕获检测土壤样品中6种多氯联苯(pcb28, pcb52, pcb101, pcb138, pcb153和pcb180)的方法. 确定了以V(20 mL丙酮):V(正己烷)=1:1混合溶剂作萃取剂, 萃取温度110 ℃, 仪器功率800 W, 微波萃取5 min的样品前处理条件, 并用柱温程序优化了GC-μECD分析条件. 方法的检出限为0.027~0.087 ng/g; 相对标准偏差为3.4%~7.6% (n=6); 加标平均回收率79.8%~91.1%. 可用于土壤环境中多氯联苯的监测分析.  相似文献

A procedure focused on microwave-assisted extraction in open vessel (MAE-OV) and gas chromatography with electron capture detection (GC-ECD) was used for the determination of 26 congeners of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in soil samples. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were evaluated for commercial PCBs mixture Aroclor1260. LOD and LOQ were calculated for each PCB congener, in the ranges (0.03–0.27?ng?g?1) and (0.11–0.70?ng?g?1), respectively. After optimization, 26 PCBs congeners were successfully extracted from soil samples with recovery amounts ranging between 84.7% and 117.3% for all PCBs congeners. The evaluated method of MAE-OV showed good separation and extraction of all PCBs congeners from soil samples. Extraction parameters such as solvent choice, power and extraction time were investigated. This study indicated that MAE-OV could be an interesting alternative method to extract PCBs from soils, since it is economical, easy, fast and requires low amounts of solvents.  相似文献

Electrokinetic chromatography with cyclodextrin derivatives (CD-EKC) was used to achieve the rapid enantiomeric separation of chiral polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Thirteen of the 19 chiral PCBs stable at room temperature were individually separated into their two enantiomers by using 2-morpholinoethanesulfonic acid (MES) buffer (pH 6.5) containing carboxymethylated gamma-cyclodextrin (CM-gamma-CD) as pseudostationary phase mixed with beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) or permethylated beta-cyclodextrin (PM-beta-CD). Urea was also added to increase the solubility of PCBs and cyclodextrins in the aqueous separation buffer. Several experimental parameters such as the nature, concentration, and pH of the buffer, nature and concentration of the cyclodextrin derivatives used, and the addition of different additives were studied in order to improve the enantiomeric separation. In addition, the effect of some instrumental parameters such as separation temperature and applied voltage was also investigated. PCBs were enantiomerically separated in less than 12 min by using a 50 mM MES buffer (pH 6.5) containing 20 mM CM-gamma-CD, 10 mM beta-CD or 20 mM PM-beta-CD, and 2 M urea at a temperature of 45 degrees C and an applied voltage of 20 kV.  相似文献

A strategy for determination of polybrominated diphenyl ethers, polychlorinated dibenzodioxins, polychlorinated dibenzofurans and polychlorinated biphenyls on fatty matrices has been established. After extraction, the proposed method allows the purification and the fractionation of all target groups of compounds in a simple multi-step automated clean-up. Furthermore, their subsequent analysis is carried out using a single benchtop mass spectrometer, in four separate injections. Required sensitivity considering levels found in the environment is attained using electron impact ionisation followed by tandem in time mass spectrometry. The whole method has been evaluated on standard solution and quality control samples consisting of fortified beef fat. Sensitivity, selectivity, accuracy and repeatability were tested with satisfactory results.  相似文献

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) are listed as persistent organic pollutants (POPs) under the Stockholm Convention. Because they have similar physical and chemical properties, they are coeluted and are usually analyzed separately by different gas chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry (GC-HRMS) methods. In this study, a novel method was developed for simultaneous analysis of six indicator PCBs, 12 dioxin-like PCBs, and 16 PCNs using isotope dilution comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC × GC-HRTOF-MS). The method parameters, including the type of GC column, oven temperature program, and modulation period, were systematically optimized. Complete separation of all target analytes and the matrix was achieved with a DB-XLB column in the first dimension and a BPX-70 column in the second dimension. The isotope dilution method was used for quantification of the PCBs and PCNs by GC × GC-HRTOF-MS. The method showed good linearity from 5 to 500 pg μL−1 for all the target compounds. The instrumental limit of detection ranged from 0.03 to 0.3 pg μL−1 for the 18 PCB congeners and from 0.09 to 0.6 pg μL−1 for the 16 PCN congeners. Repeatability for triplicate injections was always lower than 20%. The method was successfully applied to the determination of 18 PCBs present at 0.9–2054 pg g−1 and 16 PCNs present at 0.2–15.7 pg g−1 in three species of fish. The GC × GC-HRTOF-MS results agreed with those obtained by GC-HRMS. The GC × GC-HRTOF-MS method proved to be a sensitive and accurate technique for simultaneous analysis of the selected PCBs and PCNs. With the excellent chromatographic separation offered by GC × GC and accurate mass measurements offered by HRTOF-MS, this method allowed identification of non-target contaminants in the fish samples, including organochlorine pesticides and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.  相似文献

Narrow-bore column liquid chromatography coupled on-line with capillary gas chromatography (LC/GC) is used for the determination of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in sediment via a heart-cutting technique. This method is compared with a method in which two off-line column clean-up steps are used with subsequent analysis by capillary gas chromatography. For the LC/GC analysis the recovery of PCBs was 90–100%. For two sediment samples from the river Meuse the LC/GC and the other, more laborious method showed good agreement.  相似文献

The capillary gas chromatography of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) is reviewed. Focus is on the most recent developments in the separation and detection of PCBs rather than sample preparation methods. Included are a comprehensive look at stationary phases that have been used to separate PCBs and the relatively new work on chiral separations of PCBs. Mass spectrometry and atomic emission are presented as selective detection techniques. Suggestions for additional research are proposed where appropriate.  相似文献

Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC x GC) with electron-capture detection (ECD) has been optimized for the separation of seventeen 2,3,7,8-substituted polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans and 12 dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls, with emphasis on the selection of the first- and second-dimension, commercially available, columns. When eight second-dimension columns were subsequently combined with a 100% methylpolysiloxane stationary phase (DB-1) in the first dimension to create orthogonal conditions, a complete separation of all congeners with different TEF values was obtained with two column combinations, DB-1 x VF-23 and DB-1 x LC-50. When other types of first-dimension columns were used (and orthogonality was partly sacrificed), a DB-XLB column combined with 007-65HT, VF-23 and LC-50 was found to provide a complete separation of all 29 priority congeners. Next, the potential of these three column combinations for real-life analysis was preliminarily studied. With a spiked and fractionated milk extract, DB-XLB x LC-50 was found to be the most powerful column combination, because of the good separation of the 29 priority congeners from each other as well as from the matrix constituents. Quantitative performance (close to three-order linearity; LODs, 30-150 fg injected; R.S.D.s, 1.5-6.5% (n = 10)) was satisfactory.  相似文献

A method for determination of concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyl congeners (PCB-28, 52, 101, 118, 138, 153, 156, and 187) and organochlorine pesticides (hexachlorobenzene, alpha-hexachlorocyclohexane, beta-hexachlorocyclohexane, gamma-hexachlorocyclohexane, delta-hexachlorocyclohexane, p,p'-dichlorodiphenyl dichloroethylene, o,p'-dichlorodiphenyl trichloroethane, p,p'-dichlorodiphenyl dichloroethane, p,p'-dichlorodiphenyl trichloroethane, alpha-chlordane, gamma-chlordane, heptachlor, heptachlor epoxide, and aldrin) in human serum is developed. Recovery is assessed with artificial serum, in which PCBs and OCPs could not be detected. The method is then confirmed with pooled human serum. Experiments are performed by adding two concentrations of analytes (0.5 μg/L and 1.0 μg/L) to both matrices. The sample pretreatment process involves denaturing with a mixture of water-1-propanol (v:v, 85:15), extraction with a C-18 cartridge, and cleanup with an Alumina B cartridge. This process required about 2 mL of serum. The limit of detection ranged from 0.05-0.35 μg/L for all the analytes. Recovery of analytes at low and high spiking concentrations varied from 63-122% and 61-124% for artificial serum and pooled human serum, respectively. Relative standard deviation was lower than 16% and 18% for artificial serum and pooled human serum, respectively. Stability of the method, expressed as relative standard deviation, was lower than 14%. The method has been applied in epidemiological research.  相似文献

A multiresidue method for determining 22 polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in air has been developed and validated by gas chromatography (GC) coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) using a triple quadrupole analyzer (QqQ). The method was validated in terms of both steps of sampling and analysis. The sampling method, which is based on active sampling using polyurethane foam (PUF) as adsorbent, was validated by generating standard atmospheres. The retention capacity of this sampling sorbent allows up to 5 m3 of air to be sampled without any breakthrough for most compounds. Two solvent extraction methods were compared: sonication and Soxhlet extraction with a mixture of n-hexane:diethyl ether (95:5 v/v). Both extraction methods yielded similar results, but the first one required less solvent and time. The method exhibited good accuracy (80.3–99.8%), precision (2.2–15.2%) and lower limits that allowed quantification and confirmation at levels as low as 0.008 ng/m3. Finally, the method was applied to the analysis of PCBs in the air in areas near to a municipal solid-waste landfill and directly above the refuse in the landfill, where it indicatedd the presence of some of the target compounds. 建立了测定室内灰尘样品中39种多氯联苯(PCBs)的分析方法。样品经吸尘器采集、正己烷-二氯甲烷(1:1,v/v)超声萃取、浓缩后,利用气相色谱-三重四极杆质谱法(GC-MS/MS)在选择反应监测(SRM)模式下测定。结果表明,39种PCBs在30 min内得到了很好的分离,在0.1~100 μg/L范围内线性关系良好,相关系数为0.9910~0.9999,方法的加标回收率为57.2%~120.3%,日内测定的相对标准偏差(RSD)为0.3%~24.7%,日间测定的RSD为0.6%~29.9%,检出限(信噪比为3)为0.0003~0.2080 ng/g。本方法灵敏度高、准确度和精密度好,简便快速,溶剂消耗量少,适用于灰尘中多种多氯联苯的同时测定。  相似文献

An efficient continuous pressurized solvent extraction (PSE) method assisted by ultrasound energy was developed for the extraction of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) from biosolids. Analytes were determined in the extracts by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in selected ion monitoring (SIM) mode. A screening-type experimental design pointing to dynamic extraction time as the only significant variable in the extraction process was carried out to optimize PCB extraction from the biosolids. Final selected conditions for PSE were extraction temperature, 50 degrees C; static extraction time, 0 min; and dynamic extraction time, 30 min. Recovery of the PSE method was 73%, which was significantly improved (103%) when PSE was assisted with 30-min ultrasound (US-PSE). Precision of the overall method, expressed as relative standard deviation, was 3.6% and the detection limit was 0.037 mg/kg. The method was applied to the determination of PCBs in biosolids from different water treatment plants from central Chile.  相似文献
