分析了光纤光栅色散补偿系统中的串扰,并比较了几种常用的多波长光纤光栅色散补偿器的串扰特性,结合串联的窄带光纤光栅和取样光纤光栅的优点,提出一种抑制光纤光栅色散补偿系统串扰的方法.它通过在邻近信道间引入随机时延差,既能改善取样光纤光栅的线性串扰特性,又能抑制交叉相位调制效应和四波混频等非线性串扰.使用该方法可以得到具有低串扰的多波长光纤光栅色散补偿器.  相似文献

In this paper, a new implementation of the double exposure method for fabricating apodized fiber Bragg gratings by controlling the parameters of rotation stage and the number of UV-shots is presented. As a result, the average refractive index is kept nearly constant along the Bragg grating, and various apodized fiber Bragg grating with high reflectivity and high side lobe suppression ratio have been fabricated in single-mode hydrogen-loaded photosensitive fiber . The achieved side-lobe suppression ratio is larger than 25 dB.  相似文献

The cross-phase modulation (XPM) effect in fiber links with dispersion compensated by chirped fiber Bragg gratings (CFBGs) is analyzed here for the first time. A continuous-wave (CW) signal, referred to as a probe, is used to investigate the impact of XPM on communication systems. The result shows that the XPM in systems using CFBGs as dispersion compensators is greatly suppressed, compared with that of systems using dispersion compensated fiber (DCF). The difference of the dispersion management between the system using DCF and that using CFBGs is demonstrated, too.  相似文献

We demonstrated a fiber sensing system using the method of wavelength locking of two identical fibers Bragg gratings (FBG) to interrogate the wavelength shift by directly measuring the intensity of the reflection from the sensing Bragg grating. The light source of the fiber sensing system is an EDFA fiber ring laser pumped by a 980 nm laser diode and a narrow bandwidth fiber Bragg grating for the filter of the ring laser resonator. The wavelength shift is converted to the intensity deviation of the reflection from the sensing FBG under strain variation, and is able to achieve real-time sensing of the dynamic strain sensing in civil engineering. The characteristics and key factors to maintain stability of the dynamic strain sensing system are discussed.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate the phase noise in quasi-linear optical transmission systems and study the mitigation of phase noise by properly choosing periodic dispersion compensation and amplification. Variational method is used to deduce the analytical formula for calculating the phase fluctuations of a Gaussian pulse. The analytical predictions are then checked against direct simulations by numerically solving the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We find that stronger dispersion compensation maps can be used to reduce phase noise and it can be further mitigated by modifying the dispersion map appropriately. It is also found that shorter amplifier spacing yields lower phase noise. We also explore the effect of pre-, post- and bi-end dispersion compensation configurations on phase noise with full compensation and check the reduction of phase noise along the fiber link.  相似文献

A new double-pass erbium-doped fiber amplifier (DP-EDFA) using chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG) is reported here showing a gain of 53.4 dB and noise figure (NF) of 5.36 dB. The proposed amplifier at the same time provides dispersion compensation through the use of CFBG.  相似文献

A multiwavelength actively mode-locked fiber ring laser that utilises a single semiconductor optical amplifier as both a gain and mode-locking element is presented. It is verified experimentally that the number of mode-locked wavelengths may be maximised by compensating for the anomalous intra-cavity dispersion. This is achieved through the inclusion of an appropriate length of normal dispersion fiber in the laser cavity. Using this technique, the number of wavelengths simultaneously mode-locked at 10 GHz was increased from 2 to 5.  相似文献

A triple sampling method to have enabled excellent channel uniformity and high in-band energy efficiency is firstly proposed for the design of an ultrahigh-channel-count fiber Bragg grating (FBG), which is based on the simultaneous utilization of two amplitude-assisted phase sampling (AAPS) functions and a phase-only sampling (POS) function. As an example, one linearly chirped FBG with consecutive 1215 channels enabling to cover all fiber telecom bands (O + E + S + C + L + U) is numerically demonstrated, which has a length of 9 cm, a dispersion of − 1360 ps/nm, and a channel spacing of 50 GHz. The maximum index-change required for 10 dB strength of the FBG is less than 6 × 10− 3.  相似文献

The fiber Bragg grating with cladding made of uniaxial crystal material whose optical axis is parallel to the axis of fiber Bragg grating proposed in the paper published in 2003 was investigated again and an error was corrected in the calculation, its effective index, reflectivity and dispersion were examined using coupled-mode theory and numeric solution. The calculated results indicate that no low frequency cutoff phenomenon exists in the HE11 mode, more power is transmitted by the core of the fiber with cladding made of isotropic material, the reflectivity of the fiber Bragg grating with cladding made of uniaxial crystal material is much higher than that with cladding made of isotropic material, the parameter Kcl, i.e., the ratio of the extraordinary to the ordinary ray refractive index, has a stronger impact on the reflectivity, Bragg wavelength and the dispersion of this kind of fiber Bragg grating when it varied from 1.00 to 1.01 than in other regions. This means that the characteristics of the fiber Bragg grating with uniaxial crystal cladding can be changed through adjusting Kcl while keeping its length, periodicity and the other parameters as constants.  相似文献

We, for the first time, report an experimental demonstration of multi-parameter fiber sensor system using the concentric core optical fiber, which can simultaneously determine the stress, the position of stress and the cracks. Chirped fibre Bragg gratings (CFBGs) are required to be concatenated to compensate the fibre dispersion in the dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) systems. When the channel spacing is small, the performance of CFBGs is degraded, which restricts the usage of fibre gratings. The origin of the interactions between the gratings is analysed and methods of suppressing the interactions are also proposed.  相似文献

In this paper, two different configurations of optical phase conjugator, dispersion compensating fiber and fiber Bragg grating have been investigated. These configurations are further compared with the conventional schemes. Several link configurations have been compared and investigated the potential for inter-subcarrier four wave mixing suppression by means of midway fibers plus hybrid modules. The proposed schemes show improvement in performance by suppressing the four-wave mixing (>40 dBm). It strongly suppresses the four-wave mixing signal by introducing the destructive interference (due to OPC) between the first and second halves of the fiber optic link.  相似文献

The limitation of the system with dispersion compensation by chirped fiber Bragg gratings is investigated in this paper. The transmission distance of the system based on chirped fiber Bragg gratings surpasses 3000 km. The bit error rate (BER) of the system is below 10−9 for as long as 2000 km. The BER is about 10−7 at 3000 km and, when forward error correction (FEC) is added, zero BER can be achieved. It is the longest transmission system with dispersion compensation by chirped fiber Bragg gratings.  相似文献

The basic mechanism of cross-phase modulation induced phase fluctuations in optical RZ pulse propagating in a periodically dispersion compensated transmission line has been investigated. Ordinary differential equations have been derived using variational analysis to estimate the phase fluctuation and the analytical result is verified by numerical simulations based on split-step Fourier method. We therefore explore the impact of different dispersion compensation maps on phase fluctuation for 10 Gb/s and 40 Gb/s WDM transmission systems. The effects of initial pulse spacing between channels, channel spacing and residual dispersion on phase shift have been studied. We find that cross-phase modulation induced phase fluctuation can be mitigated by proper adjustment of channel spacing and/or residual dispersion.  相似文献

A pulse train with a wavelength dependent time sequence is generated in a fiber laser configuration, which contains a cascaded wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) fiber Bragg grating (FBG) array and a tunable F-P filter. By distributing pulses to corresponding channels with a 1 × N analog electrical switch, a novel FBG sensors interrogation technique with advantages of high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and high interrogation speed is experimentally demonstrated. Then, a FBG sensing system based on this interrogation technique and the mature unbalanced scanning Michelson interferometer (USMI) demodulation technique is realized. The system has shown a sensitivity of 1.610°/με, for the 1555 nm FBG, which agrees well with the theoretical value of 1.674°/με.  相似文献
