Generalizing the stationary coupled-mode concept, nonstationary field equations for slowly varying field envelopes are derived. These field equations are combined with the equations of motion for the non-linear polarization and the inversion as well yielding a set of coupled differential equations applicable to a variety of nonstationary phenomena in waveguides. Pulse shaping and SIT of pulses interacting with a thin layer of two-level system are considered in detail.  相似文献

The nonlinear polarization response of a quantum system modeling a silver atom in the field of high-intensity radiation in the IR and UV spectral ranges has been studied by direct numerical integration of a nonstationary Schrödinger equation. The domains of applicability of perturbation theory and polarization expansion in powers of the field intensity are determined. The contribution of excited atoms and electrons in a continuum to the atomic polarization response at the field frequency, which arises due to the radiation-induced excitation and photoionization processes, is analyzed. Features of the nonlinear response to an external field under conditions of atom stabilization are considered.  相似文献

The possibility of using the transition radiation of an electron bunch to generate nonstationary anharmonic pulses in free space and in a dispersive medium is demonstrated. It is shown that the transition radiation of the bunch gives rise to an infinite train of nonstationary anharmonic pulses described by solutions to the Klein-Gordon equation. The polarization of the resulting field at its leading edge appears to be different from the field polarization at the interface. The leading edge becomes steeper with time. It is shown that the bunch density longitudinal distribution and the parameters of the dispersive medium can be determined from the values of the fields and their derivatives near the leading edge of the resulting signal.  相似文献

A physical interpretation of the recipe for synthesizing genuine 2 × 2 cross-spectral density matrices that characterize stochastic electromagnetic sources and beams is described. In this interpretation, the synthesized field is regarded as an incoherent superposition of spatially coherent fields originating from a partially polarized, spatially incoherent virtual source. The coherence and the polarization properties of the synthesized field are also examined in view of this interpretation. As a result, we found that the spectral degree of coherence and that of polarization of the synthesized field are generally different from those of the virtual source by the effect of the superposition. We also found, however, that there are some situations in which the spectral degree of polarization of the synthesized field remains unchanged even though the superposition takes place.  相似文献

The relations between the different stationary and nonstationary states of molecular excitations described by a nonlinear dimer model with cubic site polarization terms and the corresponding optical emission spectra are considered in detail. For the stationary states emission is explicitly calculated for both the symmetric case with equal optical coupling constants of both molecules constituting the dimer as well as the asymmetric case where one of the molecules is optically active only. The time-resolved emission from the nonstationary states is treated by using a quasistationary approximation based on slow transfer dynamics compared to the polarization. Of particular interest in the nonstationary case is the chaotic transfer regime induced by a harmonic perturbation. For the latter case the evolution of the spectrum from an ensemble of dimers spreading within the stochastic layer on the Bloch sphere is presented.  相似文献

为实现对相位物体的无损检测和成像,克服数字同轴全息相位物体成像技术在消除零级像和孪生像的干扰时存在的系列问题,提出一种基于Stokes参量的新的数字同轴全息技术。该方法区别于传统的利用干涉光场来记录原始像项的数字全息方法,通过测量物参光合成光束的Stokes参量来分别得到这两束光的振幅和相位差,从而准确、唯一地获得原始像项;再利用数字再现即可重构物光的振幅和相位信息。实验中对弱吸收的相位样品进行了测量,得到样品清晰的振幅和相位分布。结果表明,采用该方法对相位物体进行数字全息再现,可以克服传统同轴全息图中零级像和共轭像对相位物体信息的严重干扰,对于提取相位物体的振幅和相位信息是可行和有效的。  相似文献

Mechanisms underlying the formation and dynamics of a virtual cathode (VC) in a tubular electron beam subjected to a magnetic field are studied using a numerical 2D model. Two qualitatively different competing types of space charge dynamics near the VC are discovered. Which of them predominates depends on the magnetic field strength. The beam current critical density at which a nonstationary VC forms in the system is also strongly dependent on the magnetic field. It is shown that the optimal strength of the magnetic field that minimizes the beam current critical density depends on the Brillouin magnetic field.  相似文献

A calculation is made of the number density n of quasiparticles determined by the condition of diagonality of the Hamiltonian of a quantized field in a nonstationary external electric field. Random stationary electromagnetic fields can be modeled in terms of point sources disposed onto two distinct layers, named the radiant and the virtual layers. It allows describing the propagation of the power and the states of spatial coherence and polarization of the field by means of separate phase-space ray-maps. Spatial coherence of the field, correlation of the polarization angles and achievement of the Fresnel-Arago laws within the structured spatial coherence supports are the necessary conditions that determine the electromagnetic point sources in the virtual layer. The contributions of these sources produce two types of modulations on the electromagnetic field at the observation plane, one of them of scalar type is the interferometric power modulation, and the other one of vector type is de modulation of the polarization state provided by the radiant point sources, according to the Stokes' parameters. We have observed the nonstationary polarization modulation of a speckle pattern transmitted through a photorefractive crystal under the alternating electric field of a square-wave form. A simple model based on Gaussian-beam propagation in the crystal with the diffusion type of nonlinearity is proposed to explain the main features of the experiment. Application of the phenomenon to noncontact and highly sensitive measurements of a rough surface movement is suggested.  相似文献

The existence of linear nonstationary optical resonances in a diatomic nanostructural object with a dipole-dipole atomic interaction has been proved. A new solution to the joint system of modified Bloch optical equations and nonlocal field equations is obtained for time intervals much shorter than the times of phase and energy relaxation. Formulas for effective polarizabilities of the object’s atoms, which have a set of dimensional resonances, are derived. The frequencies of these resonances significantly differ from the eigenfrequencies of the object’s atoms, and their properties depend on the interatomic distance, light-pulse duration, initial atomic inversions, and the orientation of the object’s axis relative to the direction of incidence of the external light wave.  相似文献

We investigate the plasmonic structure of a metallic nanoparticle near a metallic thin film. We show that in the thin film limit, a virtual plasmon resonance composed of delocalized thin film plasmons is induced. We investigate how the physical properties of the virtual state depend on polarization, film thickness and nanoparticle-film separation. We show that the electromagnetic field enhancements associated with the virtual plasmon resonance are large, suggesting applications of metallic nanoparticle/thin film systems as substrates for surface enhanced spectroscopies and surface enhanced scanning probe microscopies. We present the results of studies within the framework of a two-dimensional numerical model of nonlinear nonstationary processes in a nonrelativistic electron beam in the mode of formation of a virtual cathode in the decelerating field without focusing of the electrons by a magnetic field (low-voltage vircator). The propagation of ultrashort few-cycle laser pulses through a quantum nonlinear medium with resonant properties is studied using the method of slowly varying amplitudes with allowance for dispersion effects. A self-consistent system of nonlinear wave equation for the evolution of laser field and the nonstationary Schrödinger equation that determines the material polarization response is numerically solved. Specific features of the propagation of laser pulse caused by a relatively large spectral width and the nonadiabatic character of the laser pulse are established. The rise of the slowly dumping polarization at the eigenfrequency of the medium and the consequent stretching of the laser pulse are observed. The role of the resonant absorption of the laser energy in the medium is analyzed. The nonlinear spectral broadening is demonstrated for the laser pulse propagating through the medium.  相似文献

We consider an application of the method of microwave nonstationary gas spectroscopy for analytical studies of multicomponent gas mixtures using exhaled air as an example. The methods used for studying multicomponent gas mixtures are reviewed. We describe subterahertz and terahertz nonstationary gas spectrometers based on the effect of freely damped polarization. The results of test measurements of nitric oxide (NO) in the 2-mm wavelength range are presented. Methods for studying the response dynamics are developed. The self-consistent problem is solved for the interaction of two dipole atoms situated at arbitrary distance from one another with the field of quasiresonant light wave. Atoms are considered to be linear Lorenz oscillators. Polarizing fields inside the system include both Coulomb and retarding parts. The solutions obtained are investigated for the case when atoms have the same polarizabilities and interatomic distance is much less than external light wavelength. Formulas for electric fields inside and outside of small object are obtained. It is shown that longitudinal and transverse optical oscillations are possible to exist inside small two-atom object. Dispersion laws of these oscillations depend upon interatomic distance and upon angle between axis of the system and the direction of propagation of external wave. The field outside the small object in wave zone is linearly polarized with the choice of linear polarization of external field. However, the directions of polarization of these waves are different and depend essentially upon frequency. The amplitude of field outside small object in wave zone is shown to depend essentially on the frequency of external field and interatomic distance. The results obtained are treated as near-field effect in the optics of small objects making it possible to investigate the structure of small objects with optical radiation. 考虑到传统的匹配场处理定位需要复杂的匹配声场计算,并对环境参数和声场模型有很高的依赖,为了克服这种缺点,采用虚拟接收方法对声源进行测距。首先对垂直阵接收到的引导声源和目标声源的信号进行相关处理,得到虚拟接收声场并估计虚拟接收声场干涉条纹的斜率,结合波导不变特征量β对目标声源进行测距。通过数值仿真和2004年南海实验数据处理,讨论了浅海斜坡海域环境中不同频段下利用虚拟接收方法对宽带声源测距的性能。随着频率升高,需要展宽频带以获得完整的干涉条纹和良好的测距结果。在实验数据处理中,选取频段较高的信号时,由于阵列间距偏大不能保证采样的简正波模式的正交归一特性,不能获得正确的测距结果。   相似文献

Expressions are derived for the interaction matrices which describe the transformation of the Stokes parameters for backscattering of a plane quasimonochromatic electromagnetic wave by an arbitrary statistical object or by an isotropic object. By means of the matrices that have been found the determination of the mutual correlation of the orthogonal components of the scattered field must be considered in an arbitrarily chosen polarization basis for arbitrary elliptic polarization of the incident wave.
