In this note, we show that, if the Druzkowski mappings F(X)=X+(AX)∗3, i.e. F(X)=(x1+(a11x1+?+a1nxn)3,…,xn+(an1x1+?+annxn)3), satisfies TrJ((AX)∗3)=0, then where δ is the number of diagonal elements of A which are equal to zero. Furthermore, we show the Jacobian Conjecture is true for the Druzkowski mappings in dimension ?9 in the case .  相似文献

Let X be a homotopy associative mod p H-space for p an odd prime. The homology H*(X;Fp) is an associative ring, but not necessarily commutative. We study conditions when for elements of H*(X;Fp). Under certain conditions imply for l=p−2 or p−1. These methods can be used to prove results about homology commutators that were previously obtained using the adjoint action [H. Hamanaka, S. Hara, A. Kono, Adjoint action of Lie groups on the loop spaces and cohomology of exceptional Lie groups, Transform. Group Theory (1996) 44-50, Korea Adv. Inst. Sci. Tech.; A. Kono, K. Kozima, The adjoint action of a Lie group on the space of loops, J. Math. Soc. Japan 45 (3) (1993) 495-509; A. Kono, J. Lin, O. Nishimura, Characterization of the mod 3 cohomology of E7, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 131 (10) (2003) 3289-3295]. We also generalize results of Kane [R. Kane, Torsion in homotopy associative H-spaces, Illinois J. Math. 20 (1976) 476-485] to nonfinite mod p homotopy associative H-spaces.  相似文献

We investigate connections between complexity of a function f from a Polish space X to a Polish space Y and complexity of the set , where K(X) denotes the space of all compact subsets of X equipped with the Vietoris topology. We prove that if C(f) is analytic, then f is Borel; and assuming -determinacy we show that f is Borel if and only if C(f) is coanalytic. Similar results for projective classes are also presented.  相似文献

A space X is said to have property (USC) (resp. (LSC)) if whenever is a sequence of upper (resp. lower) semicontinuous functions from X into the closed unit interval [0,1] converging pointwise to the constant function 0 with the value 0, there is a sequence of continuous functions from X into [0,1] such that fn?gn (nω) and converges pointwise to 0. In this paper, we study spaces having these properties and related ones. In particular, we show that (a) for a subset X of the real line, X has property (USC) if and only if it is a σ-set; (b) if X is a space of non-measurable cardinal and has property (LSC), then it is discrete. Our research comes of Scheepers' conjecture on properties S1(Γ,Γ) and wQN.  相似文献

Let K be any unital commutative Q-algebra and z=(z1,…,zn) commutative or noncommutative free variables. Let t be a formal parameter which commutes with z and elements of K. We denote uniformly by Kz》 and K?t?《z》 the formal power series algebras of z over K and K?t?, respectively. For any α?1, let D[α]《z》 be the unital algebra generated by the differential operators of Kz》 which increase the degree in z by at least α−1 and the group of automorphisms Ft(z)=zHt(z) of K?t?《z》 with o(Ht(z))?α and Ht=0(z)=0. First, for any fixed α?1 and , we introduce five sequences of differential operators of Kz》 and show that their generating functions form an NCS (noncommutative symmetric) system [W. Zhao, Noncommutative symmetric systems over associative algebras, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 210 (2) (2007) 363-382] over the differential algebra D[α]《z》. Consequently, by the universal property of the NCS system formed by the generating functions of certain NCSFs (noncommutative symmetric functions) first introduced in [I.M. Gelfand, D. Krob, A. Lascoux, B. Leclerc, V.S. Retakh, J.-Y. Thibon, Noncommutative symmetric functions, Adv. Math. 112 (2) (1995) 218-348, MR1327096; see also hep-th/9407124], we obtain a family of Hopf algebra homomorphisms , which are also grading-preserving when Ft satisfies certain conditions. Note that the homomorphisms SFt above can also be viewed as specializations of NCSFs by the differential operators of Kz》. Secondly, we show that, in both commutative and noncommutative cases, this family SFt (with all n?1 and ) of differential operator specializations can distinguish any two different NCSFs. Some connections of the results above with the quasi-symmetric functions [I. Gessel, Multipartite P-partitions and inner products of skew Schur functions, in: Contemp. Math., vol. 34, 1984, pp. 289-301, MR0777705; C. Malvenuto, C. Reutenauer, Duality between quasi-symmetric functions and the Solomon descent algebra, J. Algebra 177 (3) (1995) 967-982, MR1358493; Richard P. Stanley, Enumerative Combinatorics II, Cambridge University Press, 1999] are also discussed.  相似文献

We consider a bipartite distance-regular graph Γ with diameter D?4, valency k?3, intersection numbers bi,ci, distance matrices Ai, and eigenvalues θ0>θ1>?>θD. Let X denote the vertex set of Γ and fix xX. Let T=T(x) denote the subalgebra of MatX(C) generated by , where A=A1 and denotes the projection onto the ith subconstituent of Γ with respect to x. T is called the subconstituent algebra (or Terwilliger algebra) of Γ with respect to x. An irreducible T-module W is said to be thin whenever for 0?i?D. By the endpoint of W we mean . Assume W is thin with endpoint 2. Observe is a one-dimensional eigenspace for ; let η denote the corresponding eigenvalue. It is known where , and d=⌊D/2⌋. To describe the structure of W we distinguish four cases: (i) ; (ii) D is odd and ; (iii) D is even and ; (iv) . We investigated cases (i), (ii) in MacLean and Terwilliger [Taut distance-regular graphs and the subconstituent algebra, Discrete Math. 306 (2006) 1694-1721]. Here we investigate cases (iii), (iv) and obtain the following results. We show the dimension of W is D-1-e where e=1 in case (iii) and e=0 in case (iv). Let v denote a nonzero vector in . We show W has a basis , where Ei denotes the primitive idempotent of A associated with θi and where the set S is {1,2,…,d-1}∪{d+1,d+2,…,D-1} in case (iii) and {1,2,…,D-1} in case (iv). We show this basis is orthogonal (with respect to the Hermitian dot product) and we compute the square-norm of each basis vector. We show W has a basis , and we find the matrix representing A with respect to this basis. We show this basis is orthogonal and we compute the square-norm of each basis vector. We find the transition matrix relating our two bases for W.  相似文献

Let (X,Y),(X1,Y1),(X2,Y2),… denote independent positive random vectors with common distribution function F(x,y)=P(X?x,Y?y) with F(x,y)<1 for all x,y. Based on the Xi and the Yj we construct the sum sequences and respectively. For a double sequence of weighting constants {b(n,m)} we associate a weighted renewal function G(x,y) defined as . The function G(x,y) can be expressed in terms of well-known renewal quantities. The main goal of this paper is to study asymptotic properties of G(x,y). In the one-dimensional case such results have been obtained among others by Omey and Teugels [Weighted renewal functions: a hierarchical approach, Adv. in Appl. Probab. 34 (2002) 394-415.] and Alsmeyer [Some relations between harmonic renewal measures and certain first passage times, Statist. Probab. Letters 12 (1991) 19-27; On generalized renewal measures and certain first passage times, Ann. Probab. 20 (1992) 1229-1247]. Here we prove a multivariate version of the elementary renewal theorem and moreover we obtain a rate of convergence result in this elementary renewal theorem. We close the paper with an application and some concluding remarks. For convenience we prove and formulate the results in the two-dimensional case only.  相似文献

Let A be a commutative k-algebra over a field of k and Ξ a linear operator defined on A. We define a family of A-valued invariants Ψ for finite rooted forests by a recurrent algorithm using the operator Ξ and show that the invariant Ψ distinguishes rooted forests if (and only if) it distinguishes rooted trees T, and if (and only if) it is finer than the quantity α(T)=|Aut(T)| of rooted trees T. We also consider the generating function with , where is the set of rooted trees with n vertices. We show that the generating function U(q) satisfies the equation . Consequently, we get a recurrent formula for Un (n?1), namely, U1=Ξ(1) and Un=ΞSn−1(U1,U2,…,Un−1) for any n?2, where are the elementary Schur polynomials. We also show that the (strict) order polynomials and two well-known quasi-symmetric function invariants of rooted forests are in the family of invariants Ψ and derive some consequences about these well-known invariants from our general results on Ψ. Finally, we generalize the invariant Ψ to labeled planar forests and discuss its certain relations with the Hopf algebra in Foissy (Bull. Sci. Math. 126 (2002) 193) spanned by labeled planar forests.  相似文献

Let L(X,Y) stand for the space of all bounded linear operators between real Banach spaces X and Y, and let Σ be a σ-algebra of sets. A bounded linear operator T from the Banach space B(Σ,X) of X-valued Σ-totally measurable functions to Y is said to be σ-smooth if ‖T(fn)Y→0 whenever a sequence of scalar functions (‖fn(⋅)X) is order convergent to 0 in B(Σ). It is shown that a bounded linear operator is σ-smooth if and only if its representing measure is variationally semi-regular, i.e., as An↓∅ (here stands for the semivariation of m on AΣ). As an application, we show that the space Lσs(B(Σ,X),Y) of all σ-smooth operators from B(Σ,X) to Y provided with the strong operator topology is sequentially complete. We derive a Banach-Steinhaus type theorem for σ-smooth operators from B(Σ,X) to Y. Moreover, we characterize countable additivity of measures in terms of continuity of the corresponding operators .  相似文献

Any continuous map T on a compact metric space X induces in a natural way a continuous map on the space K(X) of all non-empty compact subsets of X. Let T be a homeomorphism on the interval or on the circle. It is proved that the topological entropy of the induced set valued map is zero or infinity. Moreover, the topological entropy of is zero, where C(X) denotes the space of all non-empty compact and connected subsets of X. For general continuous maps on compact metric spaces these results are not valid.  相似文献

Let z=(z1,…,zn) and , the Laplace operator. A formal power series P(z) is said to be Hessian Nilpotent (HN) if its Hessian matrix is nilpotent. In recent developments in [M. de Bondt, A. van den Essen, A reduction of the Jacobian conjecture to the symmetric case, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 133 (8) (2005) 2201-2205. [MR2138860]; G. Zhao, Hessian nilpotent polynomials and the Jacobian conjecture, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 359 (2007) 249-274. [MR2247890]. See also math.CV/0409534], the Jacobian conjecture has been reduced to the following so-called vanishing conjecture (VC) of HN polynomials: for any homogeneous HN polynomialP(z) (of degreed=4), we haveΔmPm+1(z)=0for anym?0. In this paper, we first show that the VC holds for any homogeneous HN polynomial P(z) provided that the projective subvarieties ZP and Zσ2 of CPn−1 determined by the principal ideals generated by P(z) and , respectively, intersect only at regular points of ZP. Consequently, the Jacobian conjecture holds for the symmetric polynomial maps F=zP with P(z) HN if F has no non-zero fixed point wCn with . Secondly, we show that the VC holds for a HN formal power series P(z) if and only if, for any polynomial f(z), Δm(f(z)P(z)m)=0 when m?0.  相似文献

We study the Pettis integral for multi-functions defined on a complete probability space (Ω,Σ,μ) with values into the family cwk(X) of all convex weakly compact non-empty subsets of a separable Banach space X. From the notion of Pettis integrability for such an F studied in the literature one readily infers that if we embed cwk(X) into ?(BX) by means of the mapping defined by j(C)(x)=sup(x(C)), then jF is integrable with respect to a norming subset of B?(BX). A natural question arises: When is jF Pettis integrable? In this paper we answer this question by proving that the Pettis integrability of any cwk(X)-valued function F is equivalent to the Pettis integrability of jF if and only if X has the Schur property that is shown to be equivalent to the fact that cwk(X) is separable when endowed with the Hausdorff distance. We complete the paper with some sufficient conditions (involving stability in Talagrand's sense) that ensure the Pettis integrability of jF for a given Pettis integrable cwk(X)-valued function F.  相似文献

Given a metric space X and a Banach space (E,‖⋅‖) we study distances from the set of selectors Sel(F) of a set-valued map to the space B1(X,E) of Baire one functions from X into E. For this we introduce the d-τ-semioscillation of a set-valued map with values in a topological space (Y,τ) also endowed with a metric d. Being more precise we obtain that

Let K be any field which may not be algebraically closed, V be a four-dimensional vector space over K, σGL(V) where the order of σ may be finite or infinite, f(T)∈K[T] be the characteristic polynomial of σ. Let α, αβ1, αβ2, αβ3 be the four roots of f(T)=0 in some extension field of K.Theorem 1.BothK(V)σandare rational (=purelytranscendental) overKif at least one of the following conditions is satisfied: (i) charK=2, (ii) f(T) is a reducible or inseparable polynomial inK[T], (iii) not all ofβ1,β2,β3are roots of unity, (iv) iff(T) is separable irreducible, then the Galois group off(T) overKis not isomorphic to the dihedral group of order 8 or the Klein four group.Theorem 2.Suppose that allβiare roots of unity andf(T)∈K[T] is separable irreducible. (a) If the Galois group off(T) is isomorphic to the dihedral group of order 8, then bothK(V)σandare not stably rational overK. (b) When the Galois group off(T) is isomorphic to the Klein four group, then a necessary and sufficient condition for rationality ofK(V)σandis provided. (See Theorem 1.5. for details.)  相似文献

We study conditions under which the Hausdorff quasi-uniformity UH of a quasi-uniform space (X,U) on the set P0(X) of the nonempty subsets of X is bicomplete.Indeed we present an explicit method to construct the bicompletion of the T0-quotient of the Hausdorff quasi-uniformity of a quasi-uniform space. It is used to find a characterization of those quasi-uniform T0-spaces (X,U) for which the Hausdorff quasi-uniformity of their bicompletion on is bicomplete.  相似文献

A relative presentation is a triple where A is a group, X is a set, and R is a set of words in the free product A∗F(X) where F(X) is the free group with basis X. Under certain hypotheses on the relative presentation , we show that (1) the group presented by is locally indicable; (2) the pre-aspherical model for is aspherical; (3) the Freiheitssatz holds for . The result has applications in the computation of cohomology of groups and the field of equations over groups.  相似文献
