The synthesis and characterization of Ru (II) terpyridine complexes derived from 4′ functionalized 2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine (tpy) ligands are reported. The heteroleptic complexes comprise the synthesized ligands 4′‐(2‐thienyl)‐ 2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine) or (4′‐(3,4‐dimethoxyphenyl)‐2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine and (dimethyl 5‐(pyrimidin‐5‐yl)isophthalate). The new complexes [Ru(4′‐(2‐thienyl)‐2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine)(5‐(pyrimidin‐5‐yl)‐isophthalic acid)Cl2] ( 9 ), [Ru(4′‐(3,4‐dimethoxyphenyl)‐2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine)(5‐(pyrimidin‐5‐yl)‐isophthalic acid)Cl2] ( 10 ), and [Ru(4′‐(2‐thienyl)‐2,2′:6′,2″‐terpyridine)(5‐(pyrimidin‐5‐yl)‐isophthalic acid)(NCS)2] ( 11 ) were characterized by 1H‐ and 13C‐NMR spectroscopy, C, H, N, and S elemental analysis, UPLC‐ESI‐MS, TGA, FT‐IR, and UV‐Vis spectroscopy. The biological activities of the synthesized ligands and their Ru (II) complexes as anti‐inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer agents were evaluated. Furthermore, the toxicity of the synthesized compounds was studied and compared with the standard drugs, namely, diclofenac potassium and ibuprofen, using hemolysis assay. The results indicated that the ligands and the complex 9 possess superior anti‐inflammatory activities inhibiting albumin denaturation (89.88–100%) compared with the standard drugs (51.5–88.37%) at a concentration of 500 μg g?1. These activities were related to the presence of the chelating N‐atoms in the ligands and the exchangeable chloro‐ groups in the complex. Moreover, the chloro‐ and thiophene groups in complex 9 produce a higher anticancer activity compared with its isothiocyanate derivative in the complex 11 and the 3,4‐dimethoxyphenyl moiety in complex 10 . Considering the toxicity results, the synthesized ligands are nontoxic or far less toxic compared with the standard drugs and the metal complexes. Therefore, these newly synthesized compounds are promising anti‐inflammatory agents in addition to their moderate unique broad antimicrobial activity. 相似文献

A series of C2-symmetrical chiral 2,5-bis (4′-alkyloxazolin-2-yl) thiophenes (thiobox) have been synthesized from thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylic acid by sequential amidation with a chiral ethanolamine,conversion of hydroxyl to chloro group, and base-promoted oxazoline ring formation.As demonstrated by (-)-2,5-bis[4′-(S)-isopropyloxazolin-2′-yl] thiophene,these thiobox systems exhibited remarkable chirality recognition of 1,1′-bi-2-naphthol giving rise to pronounced shifts in the ^1H NMR signals of the latter axial chiral compound at the positions of C-3,C-4,C-5,and C-8. 相似文献

New 6,6‐dimethyl‐2‐oxo‐4‐{2‐[5‐alkylsilyl(germyl)]furan(thiophen)‐2‐yl}vinyl‐5,6‐dihydro‐2H‐pyran‐3‐carbonitriles (IC50: 1–6 µg ml?1) have been prepared by the condensation of corresponding silicon‐ and germanium‐containing furyl(thienyl)‐2‐carbaldehydes with 3‐cyano‐4,6,6‐trimethyl‐5,6‐dihydropyran‐2‐one using piperidine acetate as a catalyst. The obtained carbonitriles were identified using NMR (1H, 13C and 29Si) spectroscopy and GC‐MS. The structure of 6,6‐dimethyl‐2‐oxo‐4‐[2‐(5‐trimethylsilyl)thiophen‐2‐yl]‐5,6‐dihydro‐2H‐pyran‐3‐carbonitrile was studied using X‐ray diffractometry. The influences of the heterocycle and the structure of the organoelement substituent on cytotoxicity and on matrix metalloproteinase inhibition have been studied. 2,5‐Dibromo‐3‐(6′‐hexylpyridine‐2′‐yl)thiophene ( DBPyTh ) was synthesized by the Suzuki coupling reaction between two aromatic compounds followed by the bromination. The Grignard metathesis reaction of DBPyTh with isopropylmagnesium chloride proceeded in 85% conversion and the regioselective halogen–metal exchange at the 2‐position was confirmed. Namely, 5‐bromo‐2‐chloromagnesio‐3‐(6′‐hexylpyridine‐2′‐yl)thiophene and 2‐bromo‐5‐chloromagnesio‐3‐(6′‐hexylpyridine‐2′‐yl)thiophene were generated in 90:10 molar ratio. Subsequently, the Kumada coupling polymerization was carried out using 1,3‐bis(diphenylphosphinopropane)nickel(II) dichloride to obtain poly(3‐(6′‐hexylpyridine‐2′‐yl)thiophene) ( PolyPyTh ). The polymer molecular weight could be roughly controlled by the catalyst concentration and the molecular weight distribution ranged from 1.25 to 1.80. The gas chromatograph analysis indicated that 5‐bromo‐2‐chloromagnesio‐3‐(6′‐hexylpyridine‐2′‐yl)thiophene was preferentially polymerized in 90% conversion and the percentage of the head‐to‐tail content (regioregularity) was calculated to be 96%. The matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐fright mass spectrum indicated that both polymer chain ends were substituted with the hydrogen atom. The absorption maxima of polymer in CHCl3 and thin film were observed at 447 and 457 nm, respectively, which were blue‐shifted compared with poly(3‐(4′‐octylphenyl)thiophene). From the CV measurement of the polymer thin film, highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) (?5.31 eV) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) (?3.76 eV) energy levels were calculated from the oxidation and reduction onset potentials, respectively, and the electrochemical band gap energy was determined to be 1.62 eV. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In the crystal structures of four thiophene derivatives, (E)‐3′‐[2‐(anthracen‐9‐yl)ethenyl]‐2,2′:5′,2′′‐terthiophene, C28H18S3, (E)‐3′‐[2‐(1‐pyrenyl)ethenyl]‐2,2′:5′,2′′‐terthiophene, C30H18S3, (E)‐3′‐[2‐(3,4‐dimethoxyphenyl)ethenyl]‐2,2′:5′,2′′‐terthiophene, C22H18O2S3, and (E,E)‐1,4‐bis[2‐(2,2′:5′,2′′‐terthiophen‐3′‐yl)ethenyl]‐2,5‐dimethoxybenzene, C36H26O2S6, at least one of the terminal thiophene rings is disordered and the disorder is of the flip type. The terthiophene fragments are far from being coplanar, contrary to terthiophene itself. The central C—C=C—C fragments are almost planar but the bond lengths suggest slight delocalization within this fragment. The crystal packing is determined by van der Waals interactions and some weak, relatively short, C—H...S and C—H...π directional contacts. 相似文献

1‐Pyridin‐3‐yl‐3‐(2‐thienyl of 2‐furyl)prop‐2‐en‐1‐ones 1a , 1b reacted with 2‐cyanoethanethioamide 2 to afford the corresponding 4‐(thiophen‐2‐yl or furan‐2‐yl)‐6‐sulfanyl‐2,3′‐bipyridine‐5‐carbonitriles 3a , 3b . The synthetic potentiality of compounds 3a , 3b were investigated in the present study via their reactions with several active halogen containing compounds 4a , 4b , 4c , 4d , 4e , 4f , 4g , 4h , 5 , 5a , 5b . Our aim here is the synthesis of 4‐(2‐thienyl or 2‐furyl)‐6‐pyridin‐3‐ylthieno[2,3‐b]pyridin‐3‐amines 6a , 6b , 6c , 6d , 6e , 6g , 6h , 6i , 6j , 6k , 6l , 6m , 6n ,via 6‐(alkyl‐thio)‐4‐(2‐thienyl or 2‐furyl)‐2,3′‐bipyridine‐5‐carbonitriles 5a , 5b , 5c , 5d , 5e , 5i , 5j , 5k , 5l , 5m . The structures of all newly synthesized heterocyclic compounds were elucidated by considering the data of IR, 1H‐NMR, mass spectra, as well as that of elemental analyses. New diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP)‐containing amorphous conjugated polymers, such as poly(3‐(5‐((9,10‐bis((4‐hexylphenyl)ethynyl)‐6‐(prop‐1‐ynyl)anthracen‐2‐yl)ethynyl) thiophen‐2‐yl)‐5‐(2‐hexyldecyl)‐2‐(2‐octyldodecyl)‐6‐(thiophen‐2‐yl)pyrrolo[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐1,4(2H,5H)‐dione) ( 4 ), and poly(3‐(5‐((2,6‐bis((4‐hexylphenyl)ethynyl)‐10‐(prop‐1‐ynyl)anthracen‐9‐yl)ethynyl)thiophen‐2‐yl)‐2,5‐bis(2‐octyldodecyl)‐6‐(thio phen‐2‐yl)pyrrolo[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐1,4(2H,5H)‐dione) ( 7 ), were successfully synthesized via Sonogashira coupling reactions under microwave conditions. Copolymer 7 , incorporating a DPP moiety at the 9,10‐position of the anthracene ring through a triple bond, showed a much lower bandgap energy (Eg = 1.81 eV) than copolymer 4 (Eg = 2.13 eV). Tuning of the molecular frontier orbital energies was achieved by only changing the anchoring position of dithiophenyl‐DPP from the 2,6‐ to the 9,10‐position in the anthracene ring. Because of the donor–acceptor (D–A) interaction and the two‐dimensional planar structure of the X‐shaped donor monomer, the resulting polymers showed good interchain π?π stacking in the thin‐film state, despite being amorphous polymers. When the newly synthesized polymer 7 was used as a semiconductor material in an organic thin‐film transistor, the best mobility of up to 0.12 cm2 V?1 s?1 (Ion/off = ~ 4.4 × 106) was observed, which is one of the highest values recorded for amorphous polymer films reported to date. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Reaction orders for the key components in the palladium(II)‐catalyzed oxidative cross‐coupling between phenylboronic acid and ethyl thiophen‐3‐yl acetate were obtained by the method of initial rates. It turned out that the reaction rate not only depended on the concentration of palladium trifluoroacetate (reaction order: 0.97) and phenylboronic acid (reaction order: 1.26), but also on the concentration of the thiophene (reaction order: 0.55) and silver oxide (reaction order: ?1.27). NMR spectroscopy titration studies established the existence of 1:1 complexes between the silver salt and both phenylboronic acid and ethyl thiophen‐3‐yl acetate. A low inverse kinetic isotope effect (kH/kD=0.93) was determined upon employing the 4‐deuterated isotopomer of ethyl thiophen‐3‐yl acetate and monitoring its reaction to the 4‐phenyl‐substituted product. A Hammett analysis performed with para‐substituted 2‐phenylthiophenes gave a negative ρ value for oxidative cross‐coupling with phenylboronic acid. Based on the kinetic data and additional evidence, a mechanism is suggested that invokes transfer of the phenyl group from phenylboronic acid to a 1:1 complex of palladium trifluoroacetate and thiophene as the rate‐determining step. Proposals for the structure of relevant intermediates are made and discussed. 相似文献

A series of N‐(2‐benzimidazolyquinolin‐8‐yl)benzamidate half‐titanocene chlorides, Cp′TiLCl ( C1 – C8 : Cp′ = C5H5, MeC5H4, or C5Me5; L = N‐(benzimidazolyquinolin‐8‐yl)benzamides)), was synthesized by the KCl elimination reaction of half‐titanocene trichlorides with the correspondent potassium N‐(2‐benzimidazolyquinolin‐8‐yl)benzamide. These half‐titanocene complexes were fully characterized by elemental and NMR analyses, and the molecular structures of complexes C2 and C8 were determined by the single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. The high stability of the pentamethylcyclopentadienyl complex ( C8 ) was evident by no decomposing nature of its solution in air for one week. The oxo‐bridged dimeric complex ( C9 ) was isolated from the solution of the corresponding cyclopentadienyl complex ( C3 ) solution in air. Complexes C1 – C8 exhibited good to high catalytic activities toward ethylene polymerization and ethylene/α‐olefin copolymerization in the presence of methylaluminoxane (MAO) cocatalyst. In the typical catalytic system of C1/ MAO, the polymerization productivities were enhanced with either elevating reaction temperature or increasing the ratio of MAO to titanium precursor. In general, it was observed that higher the catalytic activity of the catalytic system lower the molecular weight of polyethylene. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The condensation reaction of 2,2′‐diamino‐4,4′‐dimethyl‐6,6'‐dibromo‐1,1′‐biphenyl with 2‐hydroxybenzaldehyde as well as 5‐methoxy‐, 4‐methoxy‐, and 3‐methoxy‐2‐hydroxybenzaldehyde yields 2,2′‐bis(salicylideneamino)‐4,4′‐dimethyl‐6,6′‐dibromo‐1,1′‐biphenyl ( 1a ) as well as the 5‐, 4‐, and 3‐methoxy‐substituted derivatives 1b , 1c , and 1d , respectively. Deprotonation of substituted 2,2′‐bis(salicylideneamino)‐4,4′‐dimethyl‐1,1′‐biphenyls with diethylzinc yields the corresponding substituted zinc 2,2′‐bis(2‐oxidobenzylideneamino)‐4,4′‐dimethyl‐1,1′‐biphenyls ( 2 ) or zinc 2,2′‐bis(2‐oxidobenzylideneamino)‐4,4′‐dimethyl‐6,6′‐dibromo‐1,1′‐biphenyls ( 3 ). Recrystallization from a mixture of CH2Cl2 and methanol can lead to the formation of methanol adducts. The methanol ligands can either bind as Lewis base to the central zinc atom or as Lewis acid via a weak O–H ··· O hydrogen bridge to a phenoxide moiety. Methanol‐free complexes precipitate as dimers with central Zn2O2 rings. 相似文献

A series of 5‐(thiophene‐2‐carbonyl)‐6‐(trifluoromethyl)‐tetrahydropyrimidin‐2(1H)‐one and 6‐(thiophen‐2‐yl)‐4,5‐dihydropyrimidin‐2(1H)‐one derivatives have been synthesized from the reactions of aromatic aldehydes, 4,4,4‐trifluoro‐1‐(thien‐2‐yl)butane‐1,3‐dione and urea under the different conditions with high yields. In this research, it was found that the p‐toluenesulfonic acid was an efficient catalyst for obtaining 5‐(thiophene‐2‐carbonyl)‐6‐(trifluoromethyl)‐tetrahydropyrimidin‐2(1H)‐one derivative. At the same time, solvent‐free and NaOH were the preferred conditions for the synthesis of 6‐(thiophen‐2‐yl)‐4,5‐dihydropyrimidin‐2(1H)‐one derivative. Moreover, because of short reaction time, excellent yields, simple setup, this research offered an efficient process for preparing these kind compounds. 相似文献

Five 2‐aroyl‐5‐bromobenzo[b]furan‐3‐ol compounds (two of which are new) and four new 2‐aroyl‐5‐iodobenzo[b]furan‐3‐ol compounds were synthesized starting from salicylic acid. The compounds were characterized by mass spectrometry and 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction studies of four compounds, namely, (5‐bromo‐3‐hydroxybenzofuran‐2‐yl)(4‐fluorophenyl)methanone, C15H8BrFO3, (5‐bromo‐3‐hydroxybenzofuran‐2‐yl)(4‐chlorophenyl)methanone, C15H8BrClO3, (5‐bromo‐3‐hydroxybenzofuran‐2‐yl)(4‐bromophenyl)methanone, C15H8Br2O3, and (4‐bromophenyl)(3‐hydroxy‐5‐iodobenzofuran‐2‐yl)methanone, C15H8BrIO3, were also carried out. The compounds were tested for their in vitro cytotoxicity on the four human cancer cell lines KB, Hep‐G2, Lu‐1 and MCF7. Six compounds show good inhibiting abilities on Hep‐G2 cells, with IC50 values of 1.39–8.03 µM. 相似文献

New diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP)‐containing conjugated polymers such as poly(2,5‐bis(2‐octyldodecyl)‐3‐(5‐(pyren‐1‐yl)thiophen‐2‐yl)‐6‐(thiophen‐2‐yl)pyrrolo[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐1,4(2H,5H)‐dione) (P(DTDPP‐alt‐(1,6)PY)) and poly(2,5‐bis(2‐octyldodecyl)‐3‐(5‐(pyren‐2‐yl)thiophen‐2‐yl)‐6‐(thiophen‐2‐yl)pyrrolo[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐1,4(2H,5H)‐dione) (P(DTDPP‐alt‐(2,7)PY)) were successfully synthesized via Suzuki coupling reactions under Pd(0)‐catalyzed conditions. P(DTDPP‐alt‐(2,7)PY), incorporating 2,5‐bis(2‐octyldodecyl)‐3,6‐di(thiophen‐2‐yl)pyrrolo[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐1,4(2H,5H)‐dione (DTDPP) at the 2,7‐position of a pyrene ring showed a lower band‐gap energy (E. = 1.65 eV) than the 1,6‐substituted analog, P(DTDPP‐alt‐(1,6)PY) (E = 1.71 eV). The energies of the molecular frontier orbitals of the substituted polymers were successfully tuned by changing the anchoring position of DTDPP from the 1,6‐ to the 2,7‐position of the pyrene ring. An organic thin‐film transistor fabricated using the newly synthesized P(DTDPP‐alt‐(2,7)PY), as a semiconductor material exhibited a maximum mobility of up to 0.23 cm2 V?1 s?1 (Ion/off ~ 106), which was much larger than that obtained using P(DTDPP‐alt‐(1,6)PY). This distinction is attributed to morphological differences in the solid state arising from differences between the geometrical configurations of DTDPP and the pyrene ring. In addition, the organic phototransistor devices made of P(DTDPP‐alt‐(2,7)PY) showed interesting photoinduced enhancement of drain current when irradiating the excitation light whose intensity is very small. To investigate the position and amount of the CF3 group affecting the coloration of polyimides (PIs), we prepared 2,2‐bis[4‐(4‐amino‐2‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenyl]hexafluoropropane ( 2 ) with four CF3 groups with 2‐chloro‐5‐nitrobenzotrifluoride and 2,2‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenol)hexafluoropropane. A series of soluble and light‐colored fluorinated PIs ( 5 ) were synthesized from 2 and various aromatic dianhydrides ( 3a – 3f ). 5a – 5f had inherent viscosities ranging from 0.80 to 1.19 dL/g and were soluble in amide polar solvents and even in less polar solvents. The glass‐transition temperatures of 5 were 221–265 °C, and the 10% weight‐loss temperatures were above 493 °C. Their films had cutoff wavelengths between 343 and 390 nm, b* values (a yellowness index) ranging from 5 to 41, dielectric constants of 2.68–3.01 (1 MHz), and moisture absorptions of 0.03–0.29 wt %. In a comparison of the PI series 6 – 8 based on 2,2‐bis[4‐(4‐aminophenoxy)phenyl]hexafluoropropane, 2,2‐bis[4‐(4‐amino‐2‐trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenyl]propane, and 2,2‐bis[4‐(4‐aminophenoxy)phenyl]propane, we found that the CF3 group close to the imide group was more effective in lowering the color; this means that CF3 of 5 , 7 , and 8f was more effective than that of 6c . The color intensity of the four PI series was lowered in the following order: 5 > 7 > 6 > 8 . The PI 5f , synthesized from diamine 2 and 4,4′‐hexafluoroisopropylidenediphthalic anhydride, had six CF3 groups in a repeated segment, so it exhibited the lightest color among the four series. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Chiral ligand (A)‐N,N′‐Bis(2‐hydroxy‐3,5‐di‐tert‐butyl‐arylmethyl)‐1,1′‐binaphthalene‐2,2′‐diamine derived from the reduction of Schiff base (R)‐2,2′‐bis (3,5‐di‐tert‐butyl‐2‐hydroxybenzylideneamino)‐1, 1′‐binaphthyl with LiAlH4, is fairly effective in the asymmetric addition reaction of diethylzinc to aldehydes by which good yields (46%‐94%) of the corresponding sec‐alcohols can be obtained in moderate ee (51%‐79%) with R configuration for a variety of aldehydes. 相似文献

Electron‐transporting organic semiconductors (n‐channel) for field‐effect transistors (FETs) that are processable in common organic solvents or exhibit air‐stable operation are rare. This investigation addresses both these challenges through rational molecular design and computational predictions of n‐channel FET air‐stability. A series of seven phenacyl–thiophene‐based materials are reported incorporating systematic variations in molecular structure and reduction potential. These compounds are as follows: 5,5′′′‐bis(perfluorophenylcarbonyl)‐2,2′:5′,‐ 2′′:5′′,2′′′‐quaterthiophene ( 1 ), 5,5′′′‐bis(phenacyl)‐2,2′:5′,2′′: 5′′,2′′′‐quaterthiophene ( 2 ), poly[5,5′′′‐(perfluorophenac‐2‐yl)‐4′,4′′‐dioctyl‐2,2′:5′,2′′:5′′,2′′′‐quaterthiophene) ( 3 ), 5,5′′′‐bis(perfluorophenacyl)‐4,4′′′‐dioctyl‐2,2′:5′,2′′:5′′,2′′′‐quaterthiophene ( 4 ), 2,7‐bis((5‐perfluorophenacyl)thiophen‐2‐yl)‐9,10‐phenanthrenequinone ( 5 ), 2,7‐bis[(5‐phenacyl)thiophen‐2‐yl]‐9,10‐phenanthrenequinone ( 6 ), and 2,7‐bis(thiophen‐2‐yl)‐9,10‐phenanthrenequinone, ( 7 ). Optical and electrochemical data reveal that phenacyl functionalization significantly depresses the LUMO energies, and introduction of the quinone fragment results in even greater LUMO stabilization. FET measurements reveal that the films of materials 1 , 3 , 5 , and 6 exhibit n‐channel activity. Notably, oligomer 1 exhibits one of the highest μe (up to ≈0.3 cm2 V?1 s?1) values reported to date for a solution‐cast organic semiconductor; one of the first n‐channel polymers, 3 , exhibits μe≈10?6 cm2 V?1 s?1 in spin‐cast films (μe=0.02 cm2 V?1 s?1 for drop‐cast 1 : 3 blend films); and rare air‐stable n‐channel material 5 exhibits n‐channel FET operation with μe=0.015 cm2 V?1 s?1, while maintaining a large Ion:off=106 for a period greater than one year in air. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 reveal close herringbone interplanar π‐stacking distances (3.50 and 3.43 Å, respectively), whereas the structure of the model quinone compound, 7 , exhibits 3.48 Å cofacial π‐stacking in a slipped, donor‐acceptor motif. 相似文献

Two novel thiazolo[5,4‐d]thiazole containing donor–acceptor type alternating copolymers, poly[2‐(5‐(2‐decyl‐2H‐benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol‐4‐yl)thiophen‐2‐yl)‐5‐(thiophen‐2‐yl)thiazolo[5,4‐d]thiazole] (BTzTh) and poly[2‐(5‐(2‐decyl‐2H‐benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol‐4‐yl)furan‐2‐yl)‐5‐(furan‐2‐yl)thiazolo[5,4‐d]thiazole] (BTzFr) were synthesized by Stille coupling polymerization and their electrochemical and electrochromic properties were explored. Electrochemical activities of the spray‐casted polymer films were determined by cyclic voltammetry. To evaluate the effect of thiophene and furan moieties on the optical properties of the copolymers, spectroelectrochemistry studies were performed. To examine the switching abilities, copolymer films were subjected to a double potential step chronoamperometry in their local maximum absorptions. Both thiazolothiazole‐containing copolymers showed multichromic properties with low band‐gap values 1.7 and 1.9 eV for BTzTh and BTzFr, respectively. The decent electrochromical properties together with solution processability make them important candidates for electrochromic applications. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. On the basis of the ZINDO program, we have designed a program to calculate the first‐order hyperpolarizability βijk and βμ according to the sum‐over‐states (SOS) expression. The first‐order hyperpolarizability of 4‐(dicyanomethylene)‐2,6‐bis‐(2′‐thiophene‐vinyl)‐pyran derivatives were studied. The calculated results were that the 4‐(dicyanomethylene)‐2,6‐bis‐(2′‐thiophene‐vinyl)‐pyran derivatives exhibit good nonlinearity with their β0 values, which are slightly less than that of the corresponding 2,6‐bis‐styryl‐4‐(dicyanomethylene)‐pyran derivatives. It does not agree with the auxiliary donor–acceptor effects theory. The 4‐(dicyanomethylene)‐2,6‐bis‐(2′‐thiophene‐vinyl)‐pyran derivatives, having two low‐lying electronic excited states that contribute to the molecular hyperpolarizability in an additive manner, are good candidates as chromophores due to their high nonlinearities and good thermal stability. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Functionalized 3,4‐dihalogenated furan‐2(5 H)‐ones can be readily prepared in moderate to good yields by treating 4‐hydroxy‐4‐arylbut‐2‐ynoate derivatives with ICl, IBr, and I2. Both halogen atoms of the electrophile are incorporated in the product. The resulting halides can further afford polycyclic aromatic compounds using known palladium‐catalyzed coupling reactions. 相似文献
