A variational approach is employed to obtain the ground and the first excited state binding energies of an electron bound to a hydrogenic impurity in a polar semiconductor quantum dot (QD) with symmetric parabolic confinement in both two and three-dimensions. We perform calculations for the entire range of the electron-phonon coupling constant and the Coulomb binding parameter and for arbitrary confinement length. It is found that the binding energy of ground and first excited state is larger in a two-dimension (2D) dot than in a three-dimension (3D) dot and this trend is more pronounced with the increase of the electron-phonon coupling constant for the same value of the Coulomb binding parameter and confinement length. Furthermore, the ground and the first excited state binding energy increases with increasing the Coulomb binding parameter in both 2D and 3D QDs for the same electron-phonon coupling constant.  相似文献

As a consequence of the electrostatic nature of the electron longitudinal optical phonon interaction, the electron-phonon interaction matrix is independent of the mass of the electron. On the other hand the dimensionless coupling constant α does depend on this mass. This fact enables us to establish a generalization of the 1: 2: 3: 4 theorem of Pekar for the whole range of the coupling constant and to derive a ground state theorem for free polarons which relates the long wavelenght behaviour of the current-current correlation function with the ground state energy.  相似文献

We study the nonlinear lattice effect on the ground state in a one-dimensional spinless Holstein model with nonadiabitical coupling and squeezing by means of the parameter variational approach. Our results show that the introduction of a hard quartic term in the lattice potential increases the ground state energy of the system when electron-phonon coupling is strong, and the increment is sensitive to the magnitude of the lattice quartic force constant. In this case the nonlinear lattice effects should be taken into account to describe satisfactorily some physical properties of the coupling system.  相似文献

采用线性组合算符和幺正变换方法研究了抛物形量子点中弱耦合极化子的基态能量和束缚能。计算结果表明,基态能量和束缚能随有效束缚强度增加而减小。随着有效束缚强度逐渐加大,最后逐渐趋于体结构极化子的基态能量。当有效束缚强度给定,基态能随电子-体纵光学声子耦合强度增加而减小。由于有效束缚强度与量子点受限强度平方根成反比,所以量子点受限越强,基态能和束缚能越大,电子-体纵光学声子耦合强度的变化对量子点的影响越小。当量子点受限变弱时,电子-体纵光学声子耦合强度变化对量子点的影响变大。所以在量子点弱受限区域,极化子对量子点的影响不容忽略。  相似文献

On the condition of electric-LO phonon strong coupling in a parabolic quantum dot, we obtain the eigenenergy and the eigenfunctions of the ground state and the first-excited state using the variational method of Pekar type. This system in a quantum dot may be employed as a two-level quantum system-qubit. When the electron is in the superposition state of the ground state and the first-excited state, we obtain the time evolution of the electron density. The relations of the probability density of electron on the temperature and the electron-LO-phonon coupling constant and the relations of the period of oscillation on the temperature, the electron-LO-phonon coupling constant, the Coulomb binding parameter and the confinement length are derived. The results show that the probability density of electron oscillates with a period when the electron is in the superposition state of the ground and thefirst-excited state, and show that there are different laws that theprobability density of electron and the period of oscillation change with the temperature and the electron-LO-phonon coupling constant when the temperature is lower or higher. And it is obtained that the period of oscillation decreases with increasing the Coulomb bound potential and increases with increasing the confinement length not only at lower temperatures but also at higher temperatures.  相似文献

The ground state of the biexciton in the lattice polarization field using both Haken and recently derived effective Hamiltonians is studied. The variational wave function possessing the full symmetry of the complex and allowing the analytical evaluation of the energy matrix elements is proposed. The biexciton binding energy is calculated as a function of electron-phonon coupling constant and of phonon energy in the case of equal electron and hole masses.  相似文献

Following the ideas behind the Feynman approach, a variational wave function is proposed for the Fröhlich model. It is shown that it provides, for any value of the electron-phonon coupling constant, an estimate of the polaron ground state energy better than the Feynman method based on path integrals. A convenient form of the Peierls-Hubbard Hamiltonian is obtained for the case when the Hubbard repulsion is the largest energy parameter. It allows to consider in the spin-wave approximation the properties of the one-hole low-lying excitations of a 2d lattice. For the parameters approximately corresponding to La2CuO4 it is shown that the hole polarons in the CuO2 planes of lightly doped samples are of large size with a solitonlike-shaped highly asymmetric wave function oriented along the diagonals of the planes or of small size depending on the value of the electron-phonon coupling. In both cases the cooperative effect of the electron-phonon and electron-magnon interactions leads to a large effective mass and to hopping transport of the excitations, with preferential jumps along the diagonals in the former case and rotationally symmetric in the latter. For hoping matrix elements which are small in comparison with a phonon quantum the competition between the interactions leads to the decrease of the total spin in the ground state with increasing electron-phonon coupling.  相似文献

An all-coupling variational calculation based on Lee-Low-Pines-Huybrechts (LLPH) theory is performed to study the ground state and the first excited state in an asymmetric polar semiconductor quantum wire that is valid for the entire range of the electron-phonon coupling constant and arbitrary confinement length. It is shown that the polaronic effects are very important and size dependent, if the effective width of the wire is reduced below a certain length scale. It is also shown that asymmetry in a quantum wire can be used as an extra parameter to increase the stability of the polaron. Finally the theory is applied to a realistic CdS quantum wire.  相似文献

The electron-phonon interaction in the quantum well state formed by a Na monolayer coating on Cu(111) is investigated theoretically. The calculations show that the electron-phonon coupling constant γ in this state decreases insignificantly (≈1%) compared to the value of γ for a clean copper surface. The corresponding electron-phonon contribution to the lifetime τ of the quantum well state increases by a factor of 1.5 compared to τ for the clean Cu(111) surface.  相似文献

The ground state of an optical polaron has been analyzed for an arbitrary force of the electron-phonon coupling. The eigenvalue differential equation is transformed into the Fredholm integral equation. With the trace method applied to the kernel of integral equation, it is found that the first bound state of the optical polaron appears only provided that the dimensionless coupling constant obeys the inequality αc≥2.8.  相似文献

We study the property of magnetopolaron in a parabolic quantum dot under the Rashba spin-orbit interaction (RSOI) by adopting an unitary transformation of Lee-Low-Pines type and the variational method of Pekar type with and without considering the temperature. The temporal spatial distribution of the probability density and the relationships of the oscillating period with the RSOI constant, confinement constant, electron-phonon coupling strength, phonon wave vector and temperature are discussed. The results show that the probability density of the magnetopolaron in the superposition of the ground and first excited state takes periodic oscillation (T0/period) in the presence or absence of temperature. Because of the RSOI, the oscillating period is divided into different branches. Also, the results indicate that the oscillating period increases (decreases) when the RSOI constant, electron-phonon coupling strength and phonon wave vector (the confinement constant) increase in a proper temperature, and the temperature plays a significant role in determining the properties of the polaron.  相似文献

利用新的库珀对平均汤近似,导出了电-声系统中声子-库珀对有效作用,证明了声子通过交换虚的库珀对能够产生一个有效的吸引力,导致两动量相反的声子配对并构成稳定的声超导态。发现电子超导态与声子超导态的直积能构成稳定的电-声对称的高温超导基态。在声子-库珀对弱耦合极限下,基态对称破缺成为传统的BCS基态。  相似文献
