A new aperture coupled design is proposed for microstrip slot antennas to improve their radiation performance. The proposed design is based on a new aperture coupling technique in which the slot is fed by a microstrip line and coupled to several parasitic patch radiators etched on the opposite side from the slot. In contrast to the combination of a slot and a microstrip patch in conventional aperture coupled microstrip antennas, the patches here are employed to reduce the radiation into the half-space that they occupy and increase the radiation in the other half-space. Therefore, the slot antenna can produce radiation patterns with a high front-back ratio. The above objective is achieved by optimizing standing wave distributions of the aperture electric field in the slot through the adjustment of the position of the patches along the axis of the slot. In this paper, design considerations are given, and the results are validated by numerical simulations and experimental measurements.  相似文献

A new feeding configuration for microstrip antennas is described, where separate substrates are used for the radiating patch element and the microstrip feedline. The substrates are joined perpendicular to each other, and the patch is excited through an aperture in the antenna substrate ground plane by proximity coupling to the microstrip feedline, This design thus has a number of advantages over other feeding configurations, particularly when used in an integrated phased array application. These features, as well as the measured results from two experimental models, are described.  相似文献

介绍了一种新型的采用扇形微带馈源的宽带缝隙天线,给出了反射损失曲线和辐射方向图。该天线采用稍高的相对介电常数(εr=4.3)和薄基片(h=1.1mm),获得了约106%的阻抗带宽(S11≤-10dB),频率范围是1.65GHz~5.38GHz。采用电磁仿真软件Ansoft HFSS8.0^TM对几个天线尺寸的影响进行了仿真与讨论,并与文献[6]的结果相比较,验证了设计的有效性,同时也证明了结果的可靠性。  相似文献

Design of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed square microstrip antenna with circular polarisation (CP) radiation is described. This CP design is achieved by using an asymmetric inductively coupling slot in the ground plane of the CPW feed line. Results show that the proposed antenna can have a CP bandwidth of 2.4%, whereas a simple inclined coupling slot case has 1.6% CP bandwidth at a fixed square patch size. The slot microstrip antenna is used as a folded slot dipole symmetrically fed across a gap by means of a strip line. A theoretical model equivalent to several lossy transmission lines had been described previously to explain the bandwidth and the radiation admittance. The theory is improved when coupling between the two equivalent radiating lines of every slot is taken into account, and explains a fourth resonance near the third one, which had been measured on several models. Theoretical results and experiments are in good agreement. They are radiation admittance in a wide frequency band, current distribution along each slot and radiation patterns.  相似文献

Experimental results have been obtained on a planar multioctave bandwidth flared microstrip slot. When crossed, the element is capable of horizontal, vertical, or circular polarization. A design was fabricated and measurements were taken to define the performance. The input impedance and radiation characteristics are shown to have a broadband response when configured as a cavity-backed element.  相似文献

Right and left circular vector potentials are developed and used in a spectral-domain solution for a microstrip transmission line on a chiral substrate. These vector potentials have properties similar to those of the usual magnetic and electric vector potentials, except that they result in circular rather than linearly polarized fields, thereby simplifying field expansions in chiral media. The chiral microstrip line does not have bifurcated modes like other chiral guided wave structures; however, the chiral substrate causes a significant asymmetry in both the fields and currents  相似文献

This paper presents a full-wave analysis, and the ensuing design considerations, of the annular patch antenna fed by an electromagnetically coupled microstrip line. The numerical analysis employs the spectral domain version of the integral equation, with the method of moments formulation; the basis functions on the ring patch are the eigenmodes of the corresponding magnetic wall cavity, and subsectional (rooftop) functions are employed on the access line. Both TM and TE modes are used, along with more-efficient "collective" solenoidal modes; mode sorting criteria are given to ensure uniform convergence. Efficient schemes are presented for the calculation of the spectral-domain reaction integrals, along with criteria to avoid calculation of negligible mode-to-mode couplings, based on the spectral analysis of the matrix condition number. Very good agreement is shown with measured data, and design considerations are given for matching the radiator.  相似文献

A method is described for the numerical analysis of the fundamental electromagnetic waves in an open planar multiconductor transmission line on a layered substrate containing a thin metal ferromagnetic film. Matrices of the inductance and capacitance per unit length of the strip conductors are obtained via rigorous solution of 2D magnetostatic and electrostatic boundary-value problems. Formulas for calculation of the phase velocities of quasi-TEM modes and corresponding amplitudes of currents and voltages on the strip conductors are derived.  相似文献

A new electronically reconfigurable dual frequency microstrip patch antenna with highly simplified varactor tuning circuitry is presented. The proposed design allows relatively independent selection of the two operating frequencies. Tuning ranges of 7.1 and 4.1% are realised for the two resonant frequencies without the use of any matching circuits.  相似文献

This paper presents the simulation and experimental investigations of a printed microstrip slot antenna. It is a quarter wavelength monopole slot cut in the finite ground plane edge, and fed electromagnetically by a microstrip transmission line. It provides a wide impedance bandwidth adjustable by variation of its parameters, such as the relative permittivity and thickness of the substrate, width, and location of the slot in the ground plane, and feed and ground plane dimensions. The ground plane is small, 50 mm/spl times/80 mm, and is about the size of a typical PC wireless card. At the center frequency of 3.00 GHz, its width of 50 mm is about /spl lambda//2 and influences the slot impedance and bandwidth significantly. An impedance bandwidth (S/sub 11/=-10 dB) of up to about 60% is achieved by individually optimizing its parameters. The simulation results are confirmed experimentally. A dual complementary slot antenna configuration is also investigated for the polarization diversity.  相似文献

设计了一种改进的U型槽低剖面宽带微带天线,并考虑在尺寸为30.0 mm×30.0 mm×1.5 mm、由相对介电常数为4.4的FR4制成的覆铜介质基板上通过酸蚀制备该天线。利用仿真软件HFSS对该天线的参数进行了仿真和优化,并根据优化的天线尺寸进行了实际制作和测量。仿真及实测结果均表明:通过在U型槽臂加载弧形,该天线的频带宽度和相对带宽分别可达3.4~11.2 GHz(S11≤–10 dB)和107%,达到了展宽带宽的目的。该天线不仅可以实现超宽带,而且结构简单,尺寸小,易于集成。  相似文献

A new technique is described for feeding printed antennas. A microstrip antenna on one substrate is coupled through an electrically small aperture to a microstrip feed line on a perpendicularly oriented substrate. No direct connection is made to the patch. Such a geometry allows two separate substrates to be used for the antenna and feed functions. Measurements of a prototype design are presented.  相似文献

A theoretical analysis of circular microstrip antenna on a ferrimagnetic substrate predicts significantly reduced resonant radii and improved bandwidth as compared to those of similar antennas built on purely dielectric substrates, when operated in the lower range of UHF. The impedance characteristics, return loss, and radiation pattern studied experimentally for antennas built upon a typical ferrite substrate are found to be in good agreement qualitatively with the theoretical results.  相似文献

A novel conical microstrip antenna with uniform substrate is investigated. The far field radiation patterns of wraparound microstrip antennas mounted on such a structure are studied theoretically. Results for a wraparound antenna of half-wavelength in width excited by TM01 are given, which are verified accurate and efficient by the ones of wraparound cylindrical antennas when the cone angle is very small.  相似文献
