光纤折射率传感器广泛应用于各种复杂环境的监测。设计了一种基于少模光纤(fewmode fiber,FMF)–无芯光纤(coreless fiber,CLF)–FMF结构的高灵敏度折射率传感器。该传感器由2小段FMF之间熔接1段减薄的CLF组成马赫-增德尔干涉仪(Mach–Zehnder interference,MZI),测量外界折射率,利用光纤布拉格光栅(fiber Bragg grating,FBG)进行温度补偿。MZI干涉光谱中的谐振波谷同时受折射率和温度影响,FBG只受温度的影响。利用MZI和FBG的折射率和温度灵敏度系数构建灵敏度矩阵,实现折射率和温度的同步测量。实验结果表明,MZI折射率灵敏度为345.66 nm/RIU,温度灵敏度为0.013 4 nm/℃;FBG的温度灵敏度为0.010 4 nm/℃。  相似文献

A novel quasi-distributed fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor system based on Fourier domain mode locking (FDML) fiber laser is proposed and demonstrated. The low reflectivity FBGs with the same Bragg wavelength are connected cascaded in a long fiber working as the sensing elements of the sensor system as well as the wavelength and cavity length selecting elements of the FDML laser. By adjusting the driving frequency of the FDML fiber laser, lasing with different selected cavity lengths will be achieved correspondingly. When the wavelength of the working FBG shifts which includes the sensing information, FBG interrogation can be realized both in wavelength and time domain.  相似文献

An optical fiber curvature sensor based on interference between LP01–LP02 modes of a circularly symmetric few mode fiber (FMF) is presented. The device consists of two single-mode fiber and a 10-cm FMF. The two single-mode fiber is offset-spliced to each end of the FMF. When the optical fiber is kept straight and fixed, the interference pattern appears in the transmitted spectrum. As the fiber device is bent, the visibility of the interference fringes (at 1530 nm) decreases, reaching values close to 0.3. The dynamic range of the device can be tailored by the proper selection of the length of FMF. The relationship between the fringe visibility and the curvature is linear while the curvature is between 11 m−1 and 16 m−1. The result indicates that the compact sensor can be used in the measurement of large curvature, which is also important in structural health monitoring.  相似文献

We report significant performance improvement of a mode-locked fiber laser gyroscope. A Fabry-Perot cavity GaAlAs laser diode whose front facet was antireflection coated was used as a gain medium. The rms noise equivalent rotation rate measured with a time-interval counter was improved to 0.06deg/ radicalh. The long-term drift of the gyroscope signal was reduced to 100deg/ radicalh after a polarizer was inserted into the laser cavity formed with a polarization-maintaining fiber.  相似文献

A compact temperature sensor based on a fiber loop mirror (FLM) combined with an alcohol-filled high-birefringence photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The output of the FLM is an interference spectrum with many resonant dips, of which the wavelengths are quite sensitive to the change of the refractive index of the filled alcohol for the interference of the FLM. Simulation analysis predicts a high temperature sensitivity, and experimental results show it reaches up to 6.6 nm/°C for the 6.1-cm-long PCF used in the FLM.  相似文献

A new micro-vibration sensor based on single-mode fiber ring laser is put forward. The Mach-Zehnder interferometric (MZI) detection technique is presented for interrogating laser frequency shift due to the measurand (piezoelectric transducer (PZT) is used to simulate the micro-vibration) induced laser cavity strain from both single- and multi-mode lasers. In the experiment, compared with multi-mode laser sensors, the single-mode laser sensor is proved to be a sensor with high resolution. When the PZT is driven by the analog signal (0.03 rad near 2 kHz), the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of output signal from the single-mode laser sensor is close to 55 dB and the sensitivity of the sensor is about 5 ×10^-5 rad/Hz1/2.  相似文献

A single-mode polymer optical fiber (POF) with highly photosensitive core doped with benzil dimethyl ketal (BDK) is fabricated and used for writing Bragg grating through the two-beam interference method. The Bragg wavelength of the grating is about 1570 nm, while the full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) of the reflection peak is 0.3 nm. The temperature response of POF Bragg grating is theoretically analyzed and experimentally measured in contrast to silica optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The result shows that the temperature character of POF Bragg grating is negative, which is opposite to the silica optical FBG. The absolute value of the temperature response of POF Bragg grating is one order of magnitude higher than that of the silica optical FBG, making POF Bragg grating appear to be very attractive for constructing temperature sensors with high resolution.  相似文献

A single-mode fiber laser based on an intracavity core-cladding mode conversion is demonstrated. The fiber laser consists of an Er-doped active fiber and two fiber Bragg gratings. One Bragg grating is a core-cladding mode converter, and the other Bragg grating is a narrowband high reflector that selects the lasing wavelength. Coupling a single core mode and a single cladding mode by the grating mode converter, the laser operates as a hybrid single-mode laser. This approach for designing a laser cavity provides a much larger mode area than conventional large-mode-area step-index fibers.  相似文献

We propose and experimentally demonstrate an enhanced evanescent field fiber refractometer based on a tapered multimode fiber sandwiched between two single-mode fibers. Experiments show that this fiber sensor offers ultrahigh sensitivity [better than 1900 nm/RIU at a refractive index (RI) of 1.44] for RI measurements within the range of 1.33-1.44, in agreement with the theoretical predictions. This is the highest value reported to date (to our knowledge) in the literature.  相似文献

A study on fiber Bragg grating (FBG) strain sensor, based on erbium-doped fiber (EDF) laser, is presented. A strain-sensing element, FBG, also acts as the lasing wavelength selecting component. When strain is applied on the FBG, the laser cavity loss changes, leading to a modification of the laser transient. Strain measurements are obtained in the time domain by simply measuring the EDF laser build-up time. Relative variation in the build-up time of up to 190%, for a strain range from 0 με to 2350 με, is achieved with a resolution corresponding to a strain of better than 2.35 με. This study demonstrates a novel fiber sensor concept and the technical feasibility to develop fiber strain measurement.  相似文献

We propose a stable multi-longitudinal Brillouin/semiconductor fiber laser(BSFL) as the upstream source in a bidirectional single-fiber wavelength-division multiplexing-passive optical network(WDM-PON).The downstream wavelength serves as the pump of the BSFL.Brillouin-frequency-shifted(~10.8 GHz) upstream carrier is generated to suppress the Rayleigh backscattering and back reflection-induced crosstalk.The stable multi-longitudinal operation of the BSFL,attributed to the four-wave mixing(FWM) effect in the semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA) reduces the difficulty of generating a stable single-longitudinal fiber laser-based upstream carrier.Bidirectional symmetric transmission at 10 Gb/s over a 12.5-km single mode fiber with less than 2-dB power penalty is demonstrated.  相似文献

We propose a high-speed remote fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor interrogation system based on a 1.3-μm cascaded Fourier-domain mode-locked (FDML) laser. It consists of multiple FBGs connected to an optical circulator in the laser cavity. The cascaded FDML laser with these multiple FBGs is operational when the scanning frequency of the fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filter matches the fundamental frequency of the laser cavity. Each FBG provides a separate laser cavity for the FDML laser. The scanning frequencies of each laser cavity are 30.5314, 31.5393, 32.7108, and 33.8023 kHz. Using the cascaded FDML laser, we measure the performance of the long-distance static strain FBG sensor interrogation system in both the time and spectral domains. The slope coefficients of the measured relative wavelength difference and the relative time delay from the static strain are found to be 0.95 pm/μstrain and 0.15 ns/μstrain, respectively. We also demonstrate the dynamic response of the interrogation system with 80-Hz modulation strain using the cascaded FDML laser. Thus, an FBG sensor interrogation system for high-speed and high-sensitivity long-distance monitoring systems can be realized using a cascaded FDML laser.  相似文献

An optical fiber sensor for ultrathin layer sensing based o51 short-range surface plasmon polariton (SRSPP) is proposed, and the sensing characteristics are theoretically analyzed. Simulation results indicate that even for a detecting layer much thinner than the vacuum wavelength, a resolution as high as 3.7×10-6 RIU can be obtained. Moreover, an average ttfickness-detection sensitivity of 6.2 dB/nm is obtained, which enables the sensor to detect the thickness variation of the ultrathin layer up to tens of nanometers. The sensitive region of thickness could be adjusted by tuning the structure parameters.  相似文献

研制了一种基于掺Yb3+的双包层大模场面积偏振光子晶体光纤的耗散孤子锁模激光器.利用数值模拟分析了光纤激光器中耗散孤子动力学过程,与全正色散锁模激光器相比,脉冲窄化机理更加丰富,半导体可饱和吸收镜(SESAM)的非线性吸收,啁啾脉冲的光谱滤波以及光纤的增益色散同时起作用,这些因素使耗散孤子锁模更加容易实现,并且稳定运行.其中,光谱滤波的耗散过程是稳定锁模机制的主导因素,滤波片能够在频域和时域同时窄化脉冲,并且去除脉冲啁啾,限制脉冲在腔内始终小于1ps.在实验上实现了无色散补偿腔中直接输出脉冲宽度777fs,最高平均功率达到1W,重复频率48·27MHz,对应单脉冲能量20nJ的飞秒激光.  相似文献

Multi-wavelength Ytterbium-doped fiber laser (YDFL) is demonstrated using a longitudinal mode interference assisted by a four-wave mixing (FWM) effect in a ring laser cavity. The gain medium is a 16 m long of the fabricated (Ytterbium-doped fiber) YDF, which has a core composition of 0.8 wt % of Yb2O3, 1.8 wt % of Al2O3 and 23 wt % of GeO2, Ytterbium ion fluorescence lifetime of 1.1 ms and absorption of 9.0 dB/m at the pump wavelength of 976 nm. 20 m long photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is used to provide FWM effect so that the energy of different oscillating lines can be redistributed to improve multi-wavelength operation. The proposed laser generates 12 lines of optical comb with a line spacing of approximately 0.59 nm at 1035 nm region.  相似文献

A homogeneously broadened unidirectional ring laser can emit in several longitudinal modes for large enough pump and cavity length because of Rabi splitting induced gain. This is the so called Risken-Nummedal-Graham-Haken (RNGH) instability. We investigate numerically the properties of the multi-mode solution. We show that this solution can coexist with the single-mode one, and its stability domain can extend to pump values smaller than the critical pump of the RNGH instability. Moreover, we show that the multi-mode solution for large pump values is affected by two different instabilities: a pitchfork bifurcation, which preserves phase-locking, and a Hopf bifurcation, which destroys it.  相似文献

We study the theoretical and experimental effects of hole quantity and inter–inter-hole spacing on insertion loss for using femtosecond laser to make bend-sensitive multi-hole plastic optical fiber(POF), and also analyze the mechanism of bending loss in multi-hole POF. A force sensor based on bending loss of the multi-hole POF is fabricated. The measurement ranges from 0 to 65 N, and the maximum output change exceeds 15.51 dB with good linearity and repeatability, and the sensitivity is 0.24 dB/N.  相似文献

An optical fiber curvature sensor based on a pressure-induced birefringence singlemode fiber loop mirror is presented. The birefringer SMF is made by applying a transverse force against a short length of singlemode fiber. The length of the sensing element for the curvature sensing is about 150 mm. The sensitivity of the curvature measurement experimentally is 0.0263 m−1/pm. And the temperature effect of the proposed sensor is also analyzed.
