We consider the parametric programming problem (Q p ) of minimizing the quadratic function f(x,p):=x T Ax+b T x subject to the constraint Cxd, where x∈ℝ n , A∈ℝ n×n , b∈ℝ n , C∈ℝ m×n , d∈ℝ m , and p:=(A,b,C,d) is the parameter. Here, the matrix A is not assumed to be positive semidefinite. The set of the global minimizers and the set of the local minimizers to (Q p ) are denoted by M(p) and M loc (p), respectively. It is proved that if the point-to-set mapping M loc (·) is lower semicontinuous at p then M loc (p) is a nonempty set which consists of at most ? m,n points, where ? m,n = is the maximal cardinality of the antichains of distinct subsets of {1,2,...,m} which have at most n elements. It is proved also that the lower semicontinuity of M(·) at p implies that M(p) is a singleton. Under some regularity assumption, these necessary conditions become the sufficient ones. On weak positive supercyclicity   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A bounded linear operator T on a separable complex Banach space X is called weakly supercyclic if there exists a vector xX such that the projective orbit {λT n x: n ∈ ℕ λ ∈ ℂ} is weakly dense in X. Among other results, it is proved that an operator T such that σ p (T *) = 0, is weakly supercyclic if and only if T is positive weakly supercyclic, that is, for every supercyclic vector xX, only considering the positive projective orbit: {rT n x: n ∈ ℂ, r ∈ ℝ+} we obtain a weakly dense subset in X. As a consequence it is established the existence of non-weakly supercyclic vectors (non-trivial) for positive operators defined on an infinite dimensional separable complex Banach space. LetX be a Banach space andX * its dual space. ForT a densely defined closed linear operator, we denote byT * its adjoint. we show that ifx∈X andx * ∈X * have disjoint local spectrum with empty interior, therefore (x,x *)=0. This provides a simple proof and a generalization of a result of J. Finch.3 Regular Associate of the Abdus Salam ICTP  相似文献

Suppose that(T t )t>0 is aC 0 semi-group of contractions on a Banach spaceX, such that there exists a vectorxX, ‖x‖=1 verifyingJ −1(Jx)={x}, whereJ is the duality mapping fromX toP(X *). If |<T t x,f>|→1, whent→+∞ for somefX *, ‖f‖≤1 thenx is an eigenvector of the generatorA, associated with a purcly imaginary eigenvalue. Because of Lin's example [L], the hypothesis onxX is the best possible. If the hypothesisJ −1(Jx)={x} is not verified, we can prove that ifJx is a singleton and ifJ −1(Jx) is weakly compact, then if |<T t x, f>|→1, whent→+∞ for somefX *, ‖f‖≤1, there existsyJ −1(Jx) such thaty is an eigenvector of the generatorA, associated with a purely imaginary eigenvalue. We give also a counter-example in the case whereX is one of the spaces ℓ1 orL 1.  相似文献

In this paper, I study the microlocal hypoellipticity for a class of totally characteristic operators (1.1). My main result is as follows: Under the conditions (I), (II), if the indicial operator of (1.1) is microlocally hypoelliptic in the complement ofWF x(Pu(t,·)) for anyu(t,x)∈C b ([0,T], ℰ),t∈[0,T], λ∈ℤ, then the operator (1.1) is microlocally hypoelliptic in the variablex. We discuss the genericity of some multiplicity results for periodically perturbed autonomous first- and second-order ODEs on manifolds.?In particular, the genericity of the following property is investigated: if the differentiable manifold M is compact, then the equation π=h(x,)+f(t,x,) on M has |χ(M)| geometrically distinct T-periodic solutions for any small enough T-periodic perturbing function f. The paper deals with the so-called M-transform, which maps divergence-free vector fields in Ω T := {x ∈ Ω| dist(x, ∂Ω) < T}, Ω ⊂⊂ \mathbbR \mathbb{R} 3, to the space of transversal fields. The latter space consists of vector fields in Ω T tangential to the equidistant surfaces of the boundary ∂Ω. In papers devoted to the dynamical inverse problem for the Maxwell system, in the framework of the BC-method, the operator M T was defined for T < T ω, where T ω depends on the geometry of Ω. This paper provides a generalization for arbitrary T. It is proved that M T is partially isometric, and its intertwining properties are established. Bibliography: 6 titles.  相似文献

Let HPn be the quaternionic projective space with constant quaternionic sectional curvature 4. Then locally there exists a tripe {I, J, K} of complex structures on HPn satisfying U = -JI = K,JK = -KJ = /, KI = -IK = J. A surface M(?) HPn is called totally real, if at each point p ∈M the tangent plane TPM is perpendicular to I(TPM), J(TPM) and K(TPM). It is known that any surface M(?)RPn(?) HPn is totally real, where RPn (?) HPn is the standard embedding of real projective space in HPn induced by the inclusion R in H, and that there are totally real surfaces in HPn which don't come from this way. In this paper we show that any totally real minimal 2-sphere in HPn is isometric to a full minimal 2-sphere in Rp2m (?) RPn(?) HPn with 2m≤n. As a consequence we show that the Veronese sequences in KP2m (m≥1) are the only totally real minimal 2-spheres with constant curvature in the quaternionic projective space.  相似文献

Given 1≦p<∞ and a real Banach spaceX, we define thep-absolutely summing constantμ p(X) as inf{Σ i =1/m |x*(x i)|p p Σ i =1/mx ip p]1 p}, where the supremum ranges over {x*∈X*; ‖x*‖≤1} and the infimum is taken over all sets {x 1,x 2, …,x m} ⊂X such that Σ i =1/mx i‖>0. It follows immediately from [2] thatμ p(X)>0 if and only ifX is finite dimensional. In this paper we find the exact values ofμ p(X) for various spaces, and obtain some asymptotic estimates ofμ p(X) for general finite dimensional Banach spaces. This paper studies a spectral invariant ℳ T for ergodic measure preserving transformationsT called theessential spectral multiplicities. It is defined as the essential range of the multiplicity function for the induced unitary operatorU T. Examples are constructed where ℳ T is subject only to the following conditions: (i) 1∈ℳ T , (ii) lcm(n, m)∈ℳ T wherevern, m ∈ ℳ T , and (iii) sup ℳ T <+∞. This shows thatD T, definedD T=card ℳ T , may be an arbitrary positive integer. The results are obtained by an algebraic construction together with approximation arguments. Let M be a complete K-metric space with n-dimensional metric ρ(x, y): M × M → R n , where K is the cone of nonnegative vectors in R n . A mapping F: MM is called a Q-contraction if ρ (Fx,Fy) ⩽ Qρ (x,y), where Q: KK is a semi-additive absolutely stable mapping. A Q-contraction always has a unique fixed point x* in M, and ρ(x*,a) ⩽ (I - Q)-1 ρ(Fa, a) for every point a in M. The point x* can be obtained by the successive approximation method x k = Fx k-1, k = 1, 2,..., starting from an arbitrary point x 0 in M, and the following error estimates hold: ρ (x*, x k ) ⩽ Q k (I - Q)-1ρ(x 1, x 0) ⩽ (I - Q)-1 Q k ρ(x 1, x 0), k = 1, 2,.... Generally the mappings (I - Q)-1 and Q k do not commute. For n = 1, the result is close to M. A. Krasnosel’skii’s generalized contraction principle.  相似文献

In accordance with the demands of the so-called local approach to inverse problems, the set of “waves” uf (·, T) is studied, where uf (x,t) is the solution of the initial boundary-value problem utt−Δu=0 in Ω×(0,T), u|t<0=0, u|∂Ω×(0,T)=f, and the (singular) control f runs over the class L2((0,T); H−m (∂Ω)) (m>0). The following result is established. Let ΩT={x ∈ Ω : dist(x, ∂Ω)<T)} be a subdomain of Ω ⊂ ℝn (diam Ω<∞) filled with waves by a final instant of time t=T, let T*=inf{T : ΩT=Ω} be the time of filling the whole domain Ω. We introduce the notation Dm=Dom((−Δ)m/2), where (−Δ) is the Laplace operator, Dom(−Δ)=H2(Ω)∩H 0 1 (Ω);D−m=(Dm)′;D−mT)={y∈D−m:supp y ⋐ ΩT. If T<T., then the reachable set R m T ={ut(·, T): f ∈ L2((0,T), H−m (∂Ω))} (∀m>0), which is dense in D−mT), does not contain the class C 0 T). Examples of a ∈ C 0 , a ∈ R m T , are presented. Letx 1,x 2, ...,x n ben unit vectors in a normed spaceX and defineM n =Ave{‖Σ i=1 n ε1 x i ‖:ε1=±1}. We prove that there exists a setA⊂{1, ...,n} of cardinality such that {x i } i∈A is 16M n -isomorphic to the natural basis ofl k . This result implies a significant improvement of the known results concerning embedding ofl k in finite dimensional Banach spaces. We also prove that for every ∈>0 there exists a constantC(∈) such that every normed spaceX n of dimensionn either contains a (1+∈)-isomorphic copy ofl 2 m for somem satisfying ln lnm≧1/2 ln lnn or contains a (1+∈)-isomorphic copy ofl k for somek satisfying ln lnk>1/2 ln lnnC(∈). These results follow from some combinatorial properties of vectors with ±1 entries. Let H 1, H 2 be Hilbert spaces and T be a closed linear operator defined on a dense subspace D(T) in H 1 and taking values in H 2. In this article we prove the following results:
(i)  Range of T is closed if and only if 0 is not an accumulation point of the spectrum σ(T*T) of T*T, In addition, if H 1 = H 2 and T is self-adjoint, then
(ii)  inf {‖T x‖: xD(T) ∩ N(T)x‖ = 1} = inf {|λ|: 0 ≠ λσ(T)}
(iii)  Every isolated spectral value of T is an eigenvalue of T
(iv)  Range of T is closed if and only if 0 is not an accumulation point of the spectrum σ(T) of T
(v)  σ(T) bounded implies T is bounded.
We prove all the above results without using the spectral theorem. Also, we give examples to illustrate all the above results.  相似文献

Let S be a foundation locally compact topological semigroup. Two new topologies τ c and τ w are introduced on M a (S)*. We introduce τ c and τ w almost periodic functionals in M a (S)*. We study these classes and compare them with each other and with the norm almost periodic and weakly almost periodic functionals. For fM a (S)*, it is proved that T f ∈ℬ(M a (S),M a (S)*) is strong almost periodic if and only if f is τ c -almost periodic. Indeed, we have obtained a generalization of a well known result of Crombez for locally compact group to a more general setting of foundation topological semigroups. Finally if P(S) (the set of all probability measures in M a (S)) has the semiright invariant isometry property, it is shown that the set of τ w -almost periodic functionals has a topological left invariant mean.  相似文献

This paper considers thefinitary reconstruction of an ergodic measure preserving transformationT of a complete separable metric spaceX from a single trajectoryx, Tx, …, or more generally, from a suitable reconstruction sequence x=x 1,x 2, … withx iX. Ann-sample reconstruction is a functionT n: X n+1X; the map (·;x 1, …,x n)is treated as an estimate ofT(·) based on then initial elements of x. Given a reference probability measureμ 0 and constantM>1, functionsT 1,T 2, … are defined, and it is shown that for everyμ with 1/Mdμ/dμ 0M, everyμ-preserving transformationT, and every reconstruction sequence x forT, the estimates (·;x 1, …,x nconverge toT in the weak topology. For the family of interval exchange transformations of [0, 1] a simple family of estimates is described and shown to be consistent both pointwise and in the strong topology. However, it is also shown that no finitary estimation scheme is consistent in the strong topology for the family of all ergodic Lebesgue measure preserving transformations of the unit interval, even if x is assumed to be a generic trajectory ofT.
