We study diffusion of charged nanoparticles in a temperature gradient and derive the corresponding Ludwig-Soret transport coefficient. Charge effects are found to enhance thermodiffusion by up to 2 orders of magnitude. We show that the inverse Soret coefficient 1/S(T) is a linear function of the colloid density n; the proportionality factor, or second virial coefficient, varies algebraically with inverse salinity, n0(-alpha); the precise value of the exponent alpha depends on the ratio of particle size and Debye length. Our findings compare favorably with experimental observations and provide, without adjustable parameters, a good fit to the data on 3-nm sodium dodecylsulfate micelles.  相似文献

In this research, a continuum-based model is presented to explore potential energy, force distribution and oscillatory motion of ions, and in particular chloride ion, inside carbon nanotubes (CNTs) decorated by functional groups at two ends. To perform this, van der Waals (vdW) interactions between ion and nanotube are modeled by the 6-12 Lennard-Jones (LJ) potential, whereas the electrostatic interactions between ion and functional groups are modeled by the Coulomb potential and the total interactions are analytically derived by summing the vdW and electrostatic interactions. Making the assumption that carbon atoms and charge of functional groups are all uniformly distributed over the nanotube surface and the two ends of nanotube, respectively, a continuum approach is utilized to evaluate the related interactions. Based on the actual force distribution, the equation of motion is also solved numerically to arrive at the time history of displacement and velocity of inner core. With respect to the proposed formulations, comprehensive studies on the variations of potential energy and force distribution are carried out by varying functional group charge and nanotube length. Moreover, the effects of these parameters together with initial conditions on the oscillatory behavior of system are studied and discussed in detail. It is found out that chloride ion escapes more easily from negatively charged CNTs which is followed by uncharged and positively charged ones. It is further shown that the presence of functional groups leads to enhancing the operating frequency of such oscillatory systems especially when the electric charges of ion and functional groups have different signs.  相似文献

Compelling alternatives to black holes, namely, gravitational vacuum stars(gravastars), which are multilayered compact objects, have been proposed to avoid a number of theoretical problems associated with event horizons and singularities. In this work, we construct a spherically symmetric thin-shell charged gravastar model where the vacuum phase transition between the de Sitter interior and the external Reissner–Nordstr¨om spacetime(RN) are matched at a junction surface, by using the cut-and-paste procedure. Gravastar solutions are found among the Guilfoyle exact solutions where the gravitational potential W~2 and the electric potential field φ obey a particular relation in a simple form a(b-∈φ)~2+b1, where a, b and b_1 are arbitrary constants. The simplest ansatz of Guilfoyle's solution is implemented by the following assumption: that the total energy density 8πρm+Q~2r~4 is constant, where Q(r) is the electric charge up to a certain radius r. We show that, for certain ranges of the parameters, we can avoid the horizon formation, which allows us to study the linearized spherically symmetric radial perturbations around static equilibrium solutions. To lend our solution theoretical support, we also analyze the physical and geometrical properties of gravastar configurations.  相似文献

We show a method of the organization of charged CdTe nanoparticles which allows the generation of a self-assembled monolayer of above 10.000 μm2 in a time of about 90 s. The analysis of adsorption kinetics of particles on a surface shows that it is well described by the Langmuir isotherm. We have found that thermal and electrical conductivity of a substrate play an important role. Nevertheless, deficiency of a substrate does not affect the adsorption kinetic. The structure of a formed monolayer essentially depends on pH and, as a consequence, on the charge of the particles. This method can be effective for the production of a CdTe nanoparticle monolayer with well controlled area and a degree of filling on a surface.  相似文献

In nonlinear electrodynamics a photon does not follow null geodesics of background geometry, but moves along null geodesics of a corresponding effective geometry. Therefore, in the strong deflection limit, in order to study the gravitational lensing of the regular electrically charged black holes obtained by coupling general relativity to nonlinear electrodynamics, one should firstly obtain the corresponding effective geometry, which is a necessary and key step. I obtain the deflection angle of the photon in the strong deflection limit, and further calculate the angular position and magnification of relativistic images. It is found that, the electric charge has significant effect on the gravitational lensing of regular black holes. With the increase of the electric charge q, the angular position of the relativistic images \(\theta _{\infty }\) and the relative magnification \(\mathcal {R}_{m}\) as a function of q decrease, while the angular separation between the outermost relativistic image and the others \(\mathcal {S}\) as a function of q increases. I also discuss the measurement of observables for the black hole at the center of our Galaxy in the cases of regular electrically charged black hole effective metrics.  相似文献

A variant of the Rosen bimetric general relativity with the Lobachevski background space metric is considered. An exact static external solution for the gravitational field of a concentrated electrically charged mass is found when the space is spherically symmetric. When the Lobachevski constant k , the solution turns into the Nordström-Reissner solution in general relativity, expressed via the harmonic coordinates. Equations of motion for an electrically charged string with a current in an external electromagnetic field with regard to the first correction due to the self-action are derived. It is shown that the reparameterization invariance of the free action of the string imposes constraints on the possible form of the current. The effective equations of motion are obtained for an absolutely elastic charged string in the form of a ring (circle). Equations for the external electromagnetic fields that admit stationary states of such a ring are derived. Solutions to the effective equations of motion of an absolutely elastic charged ring in the absence of external fields as well as in an external uniform magnetic field are obtained. In the latter case, the frequency at which one can observe radiation emitted by the ring is evaluated. A model of an absolutely nonstretchable charged string with a current is proposed. The effective equations of motion are derived within this model, and a class of solutions to these equations is found.  相似文献

A dispersion relation is derived for capillary oscillations of a charged electrically conducting viscous drop in an electrically conducting viscous medium. It is shown that aperiodic instability of the charged interface between the two media can arise in this system, with a growth rate that depends qualitatively differently on the ratio of their conductivities in different ranges of values of this ratio. The thermophoretic motion of a charged spherical colloidal particle and its accompanying cloud of counterions and coions in a temperature gradient is studied theoretically. Using the Debye-Hückel approximation, the Soret drift velocity of a weakly charged colloid is calculated analytically. For highly charged colloids, the nonlinear system of electrokinetic equations is solved numerically, and the effects of high surface potential, dielectrophoresis, and convection are examined. Our results are in good agreement with some of the recent experiments on highly charged colloids without using adjustable parameters.  相似文献

The equations of motion for charged particles are derived from the geodesic hypothesis in the five-dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory. It is shown that even within this purely classical framework the theory does not describe low mass charged particles, and that in the background of a Kaluza-Klein monopole, the long range scalr field has striking observable consequences for electron motion, even at very large distances.  相似文献

纳米颗粒在纳米医药、细胞成像等领域有着非常广泛的应用,深入理解纳米颗粒与生物膜之间相互作用的微观机制是纳米颗粒合成与应用的重要基础.本文采用粗粒化分子动力学模拟的方法研究了带电配体包裹的金纳米颗粒与相分离的带电生物膜之间的相互作用.结果表明,通过改变金纳米颗粒表面的配体密度、配体带电种类和比例,以及膜内带电脂分子的种类,可以方便地调控纳米颗粒在膜表面或膜内停留的位置和状态.进一步从自由能的角度分析了带电纳米颗粒与带电生物膜之间相互作用的微观物理机制.本文对纳米粒子在纳米医药、细胞成像等领域的应用具有一定的理论参考意义.  相似文献

A correct solution to the problem of periodic-wave propagation along the charged surface of a deep viscous liquid in the second-order approximation in the wave amplitude is given for the first time. It is shown that the second-order correction in the amplitude to the profile of the wave being considered plays a decisive role in the realization of the instability of a liquid with respect to its intrinsic charge.  相似文献
