We prove a Bo?ejko-Picardello type inequality for finite-dimensional CAT(0) cube complexes and as a consequence we obtain that a group acting properly on a finite-dimensional CAT(0) cube complex is weakly amenable with the Cowling-Haagerup constant 1.  相似文献

We describe a higher dimensional analogue of Stallings’ folding sequences for group actions on CAT(0) cube complexes. We use it to give a characterization of quasiconvex subgroups of hyperbolic groups that act properly and cocompactly on CAT(0) cube complexes via finiteness properties of their hyperplane stabilizers.  相似文献

We show that the Hilbert space compression of any (unbounded) finite-dimensional CAT(0) cube complex is 1 and deduce that any finitely generated group acting properly, co-compactly on a CAT(0) cube complex is exact, and hence has Yu's Property A. The class of groups covered by this theorem includes free groups, finitely generated Coxeter groups, finitely generated right angled Artin groups, finitely presented groups satisfying the B(4)-T(4) small cancellation condition and all those word-hyperbolic groups satisfying the B(6) condition. Another family of examples is provided by certain canonical surgeries defined by link diagrams.  相似文献

We prove that any group acting essentially without a fixed point at infinity on an irreducible finite-dimensional CAT(0) cube complex contains a rankone isometry. This implies that the Rank Rigidity Conjecture holds for CAT(0) cube complexes. We derive a number of other consequences for CAT(0) cube complexes, including a purely geometric proof of the Tits alternative, an existence result for regular elements in (possibly non-uniform) lattices acting on cube complexes, and a characterization of products of trees in terms of bounded cohomology.  相似文献

We prove the bounded packing property for any abelian subgroup of a group acting properly and cocompactly on a CAT(0) cube complex. A main ingredient of the proof is a cubical flat torus theorem. This ingredient is also used to show that central HNN extensions of maximal free-abelian subgroups of compact special groups are virtually special, and to produce various examples of groups that are not cocompactly cubulated.  相似文献

We exhibit 3-generator Artin groups which have finite two-dimensional Eilenberg-Mac Lane spaces, but which do not act properly discontinuously by semi-simple isometries on a two-dimensional CAT(0) complex. We prove that infinitely many of these groups are the fundamental groups of compact, non-positively curved 3-complexes. These examples show that the geometric dimension of a CAT(0) group may be strictly less than its CAT(0) dimension.  相似文献

If one tries to embed a metric space uniformly in Hilbert space, how close to quasi-isometric could the embedding be? We answer this question for finite dimensional CAT(0) cube complexes and for hyperbolic groups. In particular, we show that the Hilbert space compression of any hyperbolic group is 1.  相似文献

Our main result is that for densities < 3/10 a random group in the square model has the Haagerup property and is residually finite. Moreover, we generalize the Isoperimetric Inequality to some class of non-planar diagrams and, using this, we introduce a system of modified hypergraphs providing the structure of a space with walls on the Cayley complex of a random group. Then we show that the natural action of a random group on this space with walls is proper, which gives the proper action of a random group on a CAT(0) cube complex.  相似文献

We prove that the properties of acting metrically properly on some space with walls or some CAT(0) cube complex are closed by taking the wreath product with . We also give a lower bound for the (equivariant) Hilbert space compression of in terms of the (equivariant) Hilbert space compression of H. A la mémoire de Michel Matthey  相似文献

Let f:M N be a homotopy equivalence of CAT manifolds M and N (CAT := PL, TOP or DIFF) with finite fundamental groups. Each subgroup H 1(M) determines a homotopy equivalence fH:MH NH of the corresponding covering spaces. Suppose now that for each subgroup H in some particular class C (for example: elementary, hyperelementary or solvable) fH is homotopic to a CAT isomorphism. The general problem studied in this paper can be formulated as follows: If each map fH as above is homotopic to a CAT isomorphism, under what additional conditions on M, C and CAT is f itself (or f × idR) homotopic (properly homotopic) to a CATisomorphism?  相似文献

Geometriae Dedicata - We compare several topologies on the Morse boundary $$\partial _{M} Y$$ of a $$\mathrm{CAT(0)}$$ cube complex Y. In particular, we show that the two topologies introduced by...  相似文献

We show that for each finitely generated infinite index subgroup H of a free group F, there is a proper cocompact action of F on a CAT(0) cube complex with a single orbit of hyperplane stabilized by conjugates of H.  相似文献

We establish △-convergence and strong convergence theorems for an iterative process for a finite family of generalized nonexpansive multivalued mappings in a CAT(0) space. Moreover, we present a fixed point theorem for a pair consisting of a finite family of generalized nonexpansive single valued mappings, and a generalized nonexpansive multivalued mapping in CAT(0) spaces.  相似文献

We construct a family of finite 2-complexes whose universal covers are CAT(0) and have polynomial divergence of desired degree. This answers a question of Gersten, namely whether such CAT(0) complexes exist.  相似文献

We prove a strong convergence theorem for multivalued nonexpansive mappings which includes Kirk’s convergence theorem on CAT(0) spaces. The theorem properly contains a result of Jung for Hilbert spaces. We then apply the result to approximate a common fixed point of a countable family of single-valued nonexpansive mappings and a compact valued nonexpansive mapping.  相似文献

We study the B(6) and B(4)-T(4) small cancellation groups. These classes include the usual C(1/6) and C(1/4)-T(4) metric small cancellation groups. We show that every finitely presented B(4)-T(4) or word-hyperbolic B(6) group acts properly discontinuously and cocompactly on a CAT(0) cube complex. We show that finitely generated infinite B(6) and B(4)-T(4) groups have codimension 1 subgroups and thus do not have property (T). We show that a finitely presented B(6) group is wordhyperbolic if and only if it contains no subgroup.  相似文献

The Tits Alternative for Cat(0) Cubical Complexes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A Tits alternative theorem is proved in this paper for groupsacting on CAT(0) cubical complexes. That is, a proof is givento show that if G is assumed to be a group for which there isa bound on the orders of its finite subgroups, and if G actsproperly on a finite-dimensional CAT(0) cubical complex, theneither G contains a free subgroup of rank 2, or G is finitelygenerated and virtually abelian. In particular, the above conclusionholds for any group G with a free action on a finite-dimensionalCAT(0) cubical complex. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification20F67, 20E08.  相似文献

If A is an Artin group whose poset of finite type special subgroups is a flag complex, then A is said to be of FC type. Such groups act cocompactly on a CAT(0) cubical complex with finite type Artin groups as stabilizers. We use the geometry of this complex to obtain a rational normal form for the group.  相似文献
