The relativistic theory of the inverse beta-decay of polarized neutron,ν e +n → > p +e -, in strong magnetic field is developed. For the proton wave function we use the exact solution of the Dirac equation in the magnetic filed that enables us to account exactly for effects of the proton momentum quantization in the magnetic field and also for the proton recoil motion. The effect of nucleons anomalous magnetic moments in strong magnetic fields is also discussed. We examine the cross-section for different energies and directions of propagation of the initial neutrino accounting for neutron polarization. It is shown that in the super-strong magnetic field the totally polarized neutron matter is transparent for neutrinos propagating antiparallel to the direction of polarization. The developed relativistic approach can be used for calculations of cross-sections of the other URCA processes in strong magnetic fields.  相似文献

Various approaches to computing the energies of the ground state and excited levels of the hydrogen atom in an ultrastrong magnetic field B that considerably exceeds the field B a = m e 2 e 3 c/ħ 3 ∼ 109 G are considered. The effects of polarization of vacuum and anomalous magnetic moment of the electron on the position of the atomic levels are discussed. The vacuum polarization effects are negligibly weak for B < 1015 G but become significant in fields B ≫ 1016 G, in which these effects qualitatively modify the atomic spectrum in this range. The difference in the behaviors of the even and odd energy levels for BB a is analyzed and the formulas for the energies of odd levels as a function of field B are refined.  相似文献

We analyze the splitting of a photon with energy ω below the e + e pair-production threshold in an ultrastrong magnetic field. We use the amplitudes found by employing the operator diagrammatic technique. In a field considerably above the critical values the process amplitudes become independent of the field strength. A study of the polarization operator of a photon in an external field of arbitrary strength in the energy range considered in the present investigation shows that there is only one set of polarizations of the initial and final photons for which the splitting amplitude is nonzero. NMR measurements on12B nuclei implanted in a thin sheet of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (Grafoil) have been made to study the magnitude of the polarization of12B and its electric quadrupole coupling. The magnitude of the residual polarization of12B held in carbon material is of crucial importance to the experiment measuring the average polarization of12B produced in the muon capture by12C. It was found that the polarization of12B can be maintained at 101.0±2.2% in Grafoil under a magnetic field of 3 kG. The electric quadrupole coupling was determined to bee 2 qQ/h=+1207.3±8.2 kHz. From the magnitude and the sign of the electric field gradienteq, the location of12B was found to be a substitutional site in the carbon lattice. The anomalous B-C bond involving thesp 2 hybrid orbitals with partially filledp z electrons is also discussed.  相似文献

Using the available cross-section and polarization data for elastic electron-proton scattering, we provide an extraction of the two-photon exchange amplitudes at a common value of four-momentum transfer, around Q 2 = 2.5 GeV^2. This analysis also predicts the e + p/e - p elastic-scattering cross-section ratio, which will be measured by forthcoming experiments.  相似文献

The potential of the pointlike charge in a superstrong homogeneous magnetic field B ? m e 2 /e 3 ≈ 6 × 1015 G is considered. It is well known that Coulomb potential is significantly modified by taking into account vacuum polarization (calculated in one loop approximation). We consider electron selfenergy and correction to the vertex function at one loop, and show that these diagrams are not enhanced by magnetic field like eB.We calculate two-loop corrections to the vacuum polarization and find that these contributions are small.  相似文献

The Keldysh theory of the superfluidity of a diluted electron-hole gas has been generalized to the case of the possible polarization of the pairs. It has been shown that the inhomogeneity of the system induces the dipole moment, which appears near the system boundaries and is proportional to the gradient of the particle density. It has been found that the quantized vortices in the magnetic field carry a real electric charge. The charge density in He II rotating at a rate of 102s−1 in a magnetic field of 10 T is about 104 e cm−3, where e is the elementary charge.  相似文献

Positive muons implanted in nonconducting solids form with high probability hydrogenlike muonium atoms (µ + e ) with properties similar to those ofU 2-centers. The influence of superhyperfine interactions with neighbor nuclei on the evolution of the polarization of the muon is investigated theoretically. The resulting muon polarization in longitudinal magnetic fields is calculated for muonicU 2-centers in some alkali halides.  相似文献

The differential cross-section and the polarization observables for Δ-isobar production in the deuteron electrodisintegration process, e-+de-+Δ+N, are calculated in a general formalism based on structure functions. The obtained expressions have a general nature, hold for one-photon-exchange, assuming P-invariance of the electromagnetic interaction and the conservation of the hadron electromagnetic current. The dependence of the differential cross-section of the e-+de-+Δ+N reaction on the vector and tensor polarizations of the deuteron target with unpolarized and longitudinally polarized electrons is considered. The general dependence of the asymmetries on two of five kinematic variables, the azimuthal angle φ and (linear polarization of the virtual photon) is calculated. A similar analysis is performed for the polarization of the nucleon produced in γ*d→ΔN reaction provided the electron beam is unpolarized or longitudinally polarized. Polarization effects, which are due to the strong ΔN-interaction in the final state are calculated. The photoproduction of the Δ-isobar on the deuteron target has been considered in detail, as a particular case. The differential cross-section and various polarization observables have been derived in terms of the reaction amplitudes. The polarization observables due to the linear and circular polarizations of the photon, when the deuteron target is arbitrarily polarized have been derived in terms of the reaction amplitudes. The superexchange interaction on a magnetic ion may be represented by an effective field Hm = $\lambda$M in some paramagnetic materials, here λ is the coefficient of effective field and M = $\chi$He with $\chi$ being the magnetic susceptibility and He being the applied field. The variation of the equivalent $\lambda_{\chi}$with the dynamic applied field is given and the crystal field-splitting levels of the excited configuration 4f75d1 of the Tb3+ ion are calculated in the Tb3Ga5O12. By means of the effective field Hm and the applied field He, the Faraday rotation of Tb3Ga5O12 at 6 K and 41 K, under the high magnetic field and at 0.63 μm wavelength, are presented. Our calculated results are in agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

We derive a formula using closed-orbit theory for the photodetachment cross-section of H- in the presence of a static electric field when there is an arbitrary angle θL between the laser polarization direction and the static electric field. This formula generalizes the previous result for laser polarization parallel to the static electric field, the effect of laser polarization direction appears as a factor cos2L) in the amplitude of the oscillation. A photodetachment cross-section formula valid above and below detachment threshold is proposed.  相似文献

An expression for the recombination coefficient α B in a weakly nonideal ultracold plasma in a high magnetic field has been proposed. According to this expression, α B T e −1.5 B −2, where T e is the temperature of electrons and B is the strength of the magnetic field. Comparison of calculated values with experimental data including the results of the recent experiments on recombination in antihydrogen confirms the theoretical dependence.  相似文献

It is found that over a wide range of temperatures and magnetic fields even a small concentration of magnetic impurities in a sample leads to a T −1 temperature dependence of the nuclear heat capacity. This effect is due to nuclear spin polarization by the magnetic impurities. The parameter that controls the theory turns out not to be the impurity concentration n imp but instead the quantity n imp μ e /μ n , where μ e and μ n are the magnetic moments of an electron and a nucleus, respectively. The nonrelativistic and relativistic energy eigenvalues of the electron in the inhomogeneous magnetic fieldH z =Hr −1,r=(x 2 +y 2)1/2 are derived in a form displaying the explicit spin dependence. The possibility of magnetic hydrogen atom formation and the spontaneouse + e pair creation following from these eigenvalues is mentioned. The expressions for pressure, energy, particle number and magnetic moment of an electron gas in this IMF are calculated in the degenerate limit. The possibility of spontaneous magnetisation,i.e., ferromagnetic behaviour, is established. Further, the pressure of the electron gas in the same type of fields is an order of magnitude higher than those in a homogeneous magnetic field and crossed homogeneous electric and magnetic fields for comparable field strengths.  相似文献
