Unidirectional dual-wavelength pumping at 805 and 975 nm of a Tm(3+)-doped silica double-clad fiber laser that has been codoped with Yb(3+) is demonstrated. With equal 2-wt. % concentrations of the Tm(3+) and Yb(3+) ions, slope efficiencies of 49% (57%) and 35% (40%) with respect to the launched (absorbed) pump power of the 805- and 975-nm pump wavelengths, respectively, were obtained. Efficient Yb(3+) --> Tm(3+) energy transfer and efficient cross relaxation combined with minimal upconversion losses were thus operating. At the maximum output power of 18 W, the fiber laser operated at a center wavelength of 2050 nm.  相似文献

Continuous-wave and Q-switched lasing from a Tm(3+)/Ho(3+) codoped tellurite fiber is reported. An Yb(3+)/Er(3+)-doped silica fiber laser operating at 1.6 microm was used as an in-band pump source, exciting the Tm(3+) ions into the (3)F(4) level. Energy is then nonradiatively transferred to the upper laser level, the (5)I(7) state of Ho(3+). The laser transition is from the (5)I(7) level to the (5)I(8) level, and the resulting emission is at 2.1 microm. For continuous wave operation, the slope efficiency was 62% and the threshold 0.1 W; the maximum output demonstrated was 0.16 W. Mechanical Q switching resulted in a pulse of 0.65 microJ energy and 160 ns duration at a repetition rate of 19.4 kHz.  相似文献

We report room-temperature continuous-wave upconversion laser emission on the green transition (4)S(3/2)?(4)I(15/2) in Er(1%), Yb(3%):YLiF(4) at 551nm. Green laser operation was obtained for titanium-sapphire pump wavelengths continuously tunable between 955 and 974.5nm. Codoping with Yb(3+) resulted in a more efficient excitation of the upper laser level by upconversion processes. The maximum green laser output power was 37mW at an incident titanium-sapphire pump power level of 1580mW at 966nm.  相似文献

Thermally induced output power enhancement and threshold reduction in an Er(3+)/Yb(3+) -codoped optical fiber laser at 1.54mum pumped by 1.064-mu;m cw radiation is demonstrated. Steady fourfold output power increase and threshold decrease were achieved by heating of the Yb(3+) -sensitized Er(3+) -doped fiber laser medium in the temperature range 23-150 degrees C degrees . The laser efficiency thermal behavior is assigned to the temperature-dependent effective absorption cross section of the ytterbium sensitizer through the so-called multiphonon-assisted anti-Stokes excitation process.  相似文献

理论研究了650nm激光雪崩抽运Tm3+/Yb3+共掺激光晶体的本征光学双稳态.基于系统的非线性耦合速率方程理论,数值分析了Tm3+/Yb3+离子能级布居数的本征光学双稳性、系统参数对光学双稳态的影响和双稳迟滞回线的动态变化.数值结果给出了光子雪崩机制下Tm3+/Yb3+共掺激光晶体的可见与红外光谱发光的本征光学双稳态;指出了通过优化Tm3+/Yb3+离子浓度比,选取低声子能晶体基质和采用晶体冷却技术,以及调谐抽运光与Tm3+离子激发态跃迁能隙满足共振频率匹配,可以有效地增强本征光学双稳效应;通过微调谐抽运光波长和控制抽运光强变化速率,可以实现动态调控的本征光学双稳态.  相似文献

Sn/Yb codoped silica optical fiber preform is prepared by the modified chemical vapor deposition (MCVD) followed by the solution-doping method. Ultraviolet (UV) optical absorption, photoluminescence (PL) spectra under 978-nm laser diode (LD) pumping, and refractive index change after exposure to 266-nm laser pulses are obtained. There is only a little change in the PL spectra while a positive refractive index change up to 2×10^-4 is observed after 30-min exposure to 266-nm laser pulses. The results show that both of the peculiar photosensitivity of Smdoped silica and the gain property of Yb-doped silica fiber are preserved in the Sn/Yb codoped silica optical fiber preform. The experimental data suggest that the photosensitivity of the fiber preform under high energy density laser irradiation should be mainly due to the bond-breaking of oxygen deficient defects, while under relatively low energy density laser irradiation, the refractive index change probably originates from the photoconversion of optically active defects.  相似文献

We report gain measurements in Tm(3+)/Yb(3+)-codoped tellurite glass fibers in the 1460-1530-nm region using a conventional 980-nm pumping scheme. The gain spectrum is dependent on the geometry of the fiber and the length owing to the superfluorescence upconversion pump scheme.  相似文献

 为了实现高重复频率和高功率的光脉冲,实验采用Er3+/Yb3+共掺双包层光纤作为增益介质,稳定的中心波长为976 nm的高功率半导体激光器作为泵浦源,利用非线性偏振旋转锁模技术,得到稳定的自起振锁模光脉冲。当泵浦功率为2.4 W时,激光器输出重复频率为8.829 MHz的连续锁模光脉冲,平均输出功率为52.5 mW,自起振锁模泵浦阈值功率为0.6 W,并观测到了稳定的高阶谐波锁模、调Q和调Q-锁模光脉冲输出。  相似文献

Yb(3+)-ring-doped fiber for high-energy pulse amplification   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
We report what is to our knowledge the first demonstration of pulse amplification in a cw-pumped fiber in which the doped gain medium has a ring shape surrounding a single-mode core. For a given pump power, ring doping reduces the gain and hence the power lost to amplified spontaneous emission. Thereby, a significantly larger amount of energy can be stored in the amplifier. Using an Yb(3+)-doped fiber pumped by 540 mW of power at 1000 nm, we measured 69 microJ of extracted pulse energy at 1047 nm, the highest value reported to date from a single-mode Yb(3+)-doped fiber. We predict that a fiber cladding pumped by a diode bar can produce pulse energies in excess of 1 mJ.  相似文献

We propose a theoretical model for an optimized fiber structure for use in anti-Stokes laser cooling of solids. The sample is an optical fiber fabricated from a fluorozirconate glass ZBLANP with a core doped with Yb(3+) ions. The diameter of the fiber core is optimized to achieve the largest temperature change in the sample. It is shown that for each value of the pump power there is an optimized diameter of the fiber core, which permits the largest drop in the temperature of the sample.  相似文献

We report the first demonstration to our knowledge of passive mode locking in a diode-pumped Er(3+) and Yb(3+) codoped YAl(3)(BO(3))(4) laser operating in the 1.5-1.6 microm spectral region. Low-loss GaInNAs quantum-well semiconductor saturable absorber mirrors are used for the initiation and stabilization of the ultrashort-pulse generation. Pulses as short as 4.8 ps were generated at 1530 nm with an average output power up to 280 mW for 2 W of absorbed pump power produced by a high-brightness tapered 980 nm laser diode. Passive mode locking has also been demonstrated around 1555 nm with typical average powers of around 100 mW and pulse durations of 5.1 ps.  相似文献

Diode-pumped Kerr-lens mode-locked laser operation of Yb(3+):Lu(2)O(3) and nondoped Y(2)O(3) combined ceramics has been achieved; 65 fs pulses with an average power of 320 mW under 5 W of pump power were obtained at the center wavelength of 1032 nm. The spectral bandwidth and the time bandwidth product were 18.9 and 0.345 nm, respectively. To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of a Kerr-lens mode-locked laser operation based on Yb(3+):Lu(2)O(3) ceramic.  相似文献

为研究Yb~(3+)离子浓度变化对Tm~(3+)离子在蓝色波段荧光强度的影响,以NaF和La(NO_3)_3为原料,采用水热法制备了Tm~(3+)和Yb~(3+)共掺的Tm~(3+)/ Yb~(3+)∶LaF_3纳米颗粒.用X射线衍射对LaF_3纳米颗粒进行表征的结果显示,纳米晶体结构呈六方相.透射电镜的观测结果显示,纳米颗粒样品大小均匀、分散性良好.在波长为800 nm的激光激发下,观测到了上转换蓝光发射,其中包括波长为474 nm和479 nm的较强的荧光辐射(相应的跃迁为~1G_4→~3H_6)和波长位于450 nm的强度较弱的荧光发射(相应的跃迁为~1D_2→~3F_4).通过观测不同Yb~(3+)离子浓度条件下共掺Tm~(3+)/Yb~(3+)∶LaF_3样品的荧光光谱,研究了Yb~(3+)离子掺杂浓度对于Tm~(3+)离子的荧光发射的影响,并探讨了产生这种现象的原因.研究结果显示,对于~1G_4→~3H_6跃迁产生的荧光发射(474 nm),当Yb~(3+)离子浓度增大时,反向能量传递速率的增加导致了荧光强度的增大.然而,当Yb~(3+)离子浓度增大到一定程度时,Yb~(3+)离子激发态能级寿命的减少将引发荧光强度的下降.相比较而言,Yb~(3+)离子的浓度的变化对于~1D_2→~3F_4跃迁产生的位于450 nm处荧光强度的影响较弱.  相似文献

The attenuation properties of Co(2+) -doped single-mode optical fibers were experimentally and analytically investigated for preparation of a stable flatband attenuator. By controlling the Co(2+) -doped region in a fiber core, we could prepare a flatband attenuator in which the attenuation in wavelengths 1530-1610 nm was held to within 9.9-10.2 dB (3% variation) and the fluctuation of attenuation was less than 0.1 dB with 1-W input power for 100 h.  相似文献

<正>The energy transfer and cooperation upconversion processes are investigated in Yb~(3+)/Er~(3+) codoped phosphate glass.Based on the measured curves of output power versus incident power,the laser and spectroscopic parameters of the glass are fitted and analyzed.We focus on the resonant energy transfer constant k from Yb~(3+) to Er~(3+) as well as the cooperation upconversion coefficient C_(up) from ~4I_(13/2) of Er~(3+).The fitted k and C_(up) can give almost the same results for different thicknesses of glass disk with the same doping concentrations.The determination of these parameters is helpful for the development of Yb~(3+)/Er~(3+) codoped laser glass.  相似文献

We report experimental results on supercontinuum generation in a highly Ge-doped core Y-shaped microstructured optical fiber using pump pulses of 9 ns duration at 1064 nm. The fiber is easy to fabricate due to its simple structure and shows good compatibility with standard fiber. The generation of nonlinear effects takes advantage of the large nonlinear refractive index and Raman gain of the Ge-doped core, as well as the air hole structure that surrounds the core. Although the fiber was pumped in normal dispersion and relatively far from the zero dispersion wavelength, flat and smooth supercontinuum in the fundamental mode from 550 nm to beyond 1750 nm was generated with a rather moderate value of fiber length and pump peak power product of 13 kW?m.  相似文献

Practical low-noise stretched-pulse Yb(3+)-doped fiber laser   总被引:19,自引:0,他引:19  
We report on the development of what we consider to be a practical and highly stable stretched-pulse laser based on Yb(3+) -doped silica fiber. The Fabry-Perot cavity uses nonlinear polarization rotation as the mode-locking mechanism, and a semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror to ensure robust self-starting and incorporates a diffraction grating pair to compensate for the normal dispersion of the fiber. Use of a single-mode grating-stabilized telecommunications-qualified pump laser diode ensures reliable, low-noise operation (~0.05% amplitude fluctuations at 10-Hz measurement bandwidth). The laser generates high-quality, 60-pJ pulses of <110-fs duration at a repetition rate of ~54 MHz (3-mW average power).  相似文献

We report the demonstration of the first, to our knowledge, cladding-pumped continuous-wave Yb(3+)-doped phosphate-glass fiber laser. Phosphate hosts are of interest because they can be much more heavily doped than silica, and because of the possibility that they may have a higher photodarkening threshold. In an 84.6 cm double-clad fiber doped with 12 wt. % of Yb(2)O(3) and laser-diode pumped at 940 nm, nearly 20 W of single-mode 1.07 microm output power was generated with 60.2 W of absorbed pump power. The measured dependence of the output power on pump power is in excellent agreement with simulations.  相似文献

研究大信号工作状态下的Er^3 -Yb^3 共掺磷酸盐玻璃波导放大器的增益与量子转换效率。从量子转换效率的定义出发,得出了增益、抽运光功率以及量子转换效率三者之间关系的解析表达式。通过数值求解大信号工作状态下的Er^3 -Yb^3 共掺系统的速率方程与光功率传输方程,讨论了Er^3 浓度、Yb^3 浓度、Yb^3 与Er^3 浓度比率、抽运光功率以及放大器长度等因素对量子转换效率的影响。结果表明提高Er^3 浓度与增加放大器长度均有助于提高量子转换效率,高Er^3 浓度掺杂需要相应的高Yb^3 浓度与之相匹配以减小由于高浓度Er^3 掺杂引起的上转换效应,Yb^3 浓度的提高将降低器件的量子转换效率,Yb^3 -Er^3 浓度之比取1~2较好。  相似文献
