This is a variation on a theme of Bayer-Fluckiger, Shapiro, and Tignol related to hyperbolic involutions. More precisely, criteria for the hyperbolicity of involutions of quadratic extensions of simple algebras and involutions of the form σ ? τ and σ ? ρ, where σ is an involution of a central simple algebra A, τ is the nontrivial automorphism of a quadratic extension of the center of A, and ρ is an involution of a quaternion algebra are obtained.  相似文献

It is well known that the solution map of a quadratic program where only the linear part of the data is subject to perturbation is an upper Lipschitz multifunction. For complex parameters a,c, we consider the Henon mapping given by and its Julia set, J. In this paper we describe a rigorous computer program for attempting to construct a cone field in the tangent bundle over J, which is preserved by DH, and a continuous norm in which uniformly expands the cones (and their complements). We show a consequence of a successful construction is a proof that H is {hyperbolic} on J. We give several new examples of hyperbolic maps, produced with our computer program, Hypatia, which implements our methods.  相似文献

We provide explicit solutions of certain forward-backward stochastic differential equations (FBSDEs) with quadratic growth. These particular FBSDEs are associated with quadratic term structure models of interest rates and characterize the zero-coupon bond price. The results of this paper are naturally related to similar results on affine term structure models of Hyndman (Math. Financ. Econ. 2(2):107–128, 2009) due to the relationship between quadratic functionals of Gaussian processes and linear functionals of affine processes. Similar to the affine case a sufficient condition for the explicit solutions to hold is the solvability in a fixed interval of Riccati-type ordinary differential equations. However, in contrast to the affine case, these Riccati equations are easily associated with those occurring in linear-quadratic control problems. We also consider quadratic models for a risky asset price and characterize the futures price and forward price of the asset in terms of similar FBSDEs. An example is considered, using an approach based on stochastic flows that is related to the FBSDE approach, to further emphasize the parallels between the affine and quadratic models. An appendix discusses solvability and explicit solutions of the Riccati equations.  相似文献

Killing form plays a key role in the theory of semisimple Lie algebras. It is natural to extend the study to Lie algebras with a nondegenerate symmetric invariant bilinear form. Such a Lie algebra is generally called a quadratic Lie algebra which occur naturally in physics^[10,12,13]. Besides semisimple Lie algebras, interesting quadratic Lie algebras include the Kac-Moody algebras and the Extended Affine Lie algebras. In this paper, we study solvable quadratic Lie algebras. In Section 1, we study quadratic solvable Lie algebras whose Cartan subalgebras consist of semi-simple elements. In Section 2,we present a procedure to construct a class of quadratic Lie algebras, and we can exhaust all solvable quadratic Lie algebras in such a way. All Lie algebras mentioned in this paper are finite dimensional Lie algebras over a field F of characteristic 0.  相似文献

The algebra of hyperbolic numbers is endowed with a partial order structure. We show that this system of numbers is the only (natural) generalization of real numbers into Archimedean \({f}\)-algebra of dimension two. We establish various properties of hyperbolic numbers related to the \({f}\)-algebra structure. In particular, we generalize fundamental properties of real numbers and give some order interpretations for the two dimensional space-time geometry.  相似文献

For a system of field equations of hyperbolic thermoelasticity we derive a propagation condition for a thermoelastic disturbance in a form of homogeneous plane wave in deformation and temperature. The corresponding dispersion relation is given in an explicit form, together with the discussion of di.erent types of homogeneous thermoelastic plane waves that may emerge from the resulting system of coupled PDEs.  相似文献

This paper concerns the use of iterative solvers in interior-point methods for linear and quadratic programming problems. We state an adaptive termination rule for the inner iterative scheme and we prove the global convergence of the obtained algorithm, exploiting the theory developed for inexact Newton methods. This approach is promising for problems with special structure on parallel computers. We present an application on Cray T3E/256 and SGI Origin 2000/64 arising in stochastic linear programming and robust optimization, where the constraint matrix is block-angular and extremely large.  相似文献

We implement a semi-analytic scheme for numerically computing high order polynomial approximations of the stable and unstable manifolds associated with the fixed points of the normal form for the family of quadratic volume-preserving diffeomorphisms with quadratic inverse. We use this numerical scheme to study some hyperbolic dynamics associated with an invariant structure called a vortex bubble. The vortex bubble, when present in the system, is the dominant feature in the phase space of the quadratic family, as it encloses all invariant dynamics. Our study focuses on visualizing qualitative features of the vortex bubble such as bifurcations in its geometry, the geometry of some three-dimensional homoclinic tangles associated with the bubble, and the “quasi-capture” of homoclinic orbits by neighboring fixed points. Throughout, we couple our results with previous qualitative numerical studies of the elliptic dynamics within the vortex bubble of the quadratic family.  相似文献

This paper study the planar quadratic semi-quasi-homogeneous polynomial systems(short for PQSQHPS). By using the nilpotent singular points theorem, blow-up technique, Poincaré index formula, and Poincaré compaction method, the global phase portraits of such systems in canonical forms are discussed. We describe the Gerstenhaber algebra structure on the Hochschild cohomology HH?(A) when A is a quadratic string algebra. First we compute the Hochschild cohomology groups using Barzdell’s resolution and we describe generators of these groups. Then we construct comparison morphisms between the bar resolution and Bardzell’s resolution in order to get formulae for the cup product and the Lie bracket. We find conditions on the bound quiver associated to string algebras in order to get non-trivial structures.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to develop a branch-and-bound algorithm using duality bounds for the general quadratically-constrained quadratic programming problem and having the following properties: (i) duality bounds are computed by solving ordinary linear programs; (ii) they are at least as good as the lower bounds obtained by solving relaxed problems, in which each nonconvex function is replaced by its convex envelope; (iii) standard convergence properties of branch-and-bound algorithms for nonconvex global optimization problems are guaranteed. Numerical results of preliminary computational experiments for the case of one quadratic constraint are reported.  相似文献

We prove the explicit formula for the hyperbolic scattering determinant in the case of a general subgroup F of PSL (2, R). The class of test functions involved (not necessarily odd nor continuous) is much broader than that previously known.
