We review possible mechanisms of blobby transport in fusion-related plasmas. The models dealing with the effective plasma gravity and caused by both T e and parallel shear of E × B drift instabilities are considered.Presented at the Workshop Electric Fields Structures and Relaxation in Edge Plasmas, Nice, France, October 26–27, 2004.  相似文献

For an axially anisotropicn-vector model withm = O(n) easy – andn – m = O(n) hard components of the order parameter, we derive the susceptibility r –1 along one of the equivalent easy axes and the perpendicular one r -1 toO(1/n) of the 1/n-expansion in the disordered phase. The results confirm predictions of the scaling theory, e.g.(g, t)=A t X (B g/t ) and (g, t) =A t X (B g/t ), wheret = T – T c (g = 0),g is the anisotropy parameter andX, X denote the scaling functions. We evaluate the relevant diagrams toO(1/n) which yield the coefficientsA, A and the critical behaviour of the scaling functions and critical amplitudes explicitly for . The extreme anisotropic case, i.e.m = O(1), is discussed briefly in the large-n limit in comparison with the mean field solution.Parts of this paper were presented at the Frühjahrstagung der Deutschen Physikalischen Gesellschaft in Freudenstadt (May 1974).  相似文献

The cyclotron resonance of heavy holes in germanium underE 0B 0[001] fields is simulated by the numerical Monte-Carlo technique. Linear and non-linear regimes of hot hole interaction with high-frequency transverse electric field E [0 0 1] are considered. A new procedure for the calculation of components of the gyrotropic part of the hot hole differential mobility tensor is proposed. We concentrate mainly on negative transverse effective mass hot holes.  相似文献

The dynamics of short distance interaction is considered from viewpoint of the quark field theory. If the effective coupling of quarks (the invariant charge(p 2)) decreases with distance (with increasingp 2) the field picture unifies different phenomenological models: reggeology in the region of smallp and partonology in the region of highp but(p 2 ) lnp 2 1 and predict deviations with a subsequent increase ofp . A character of the deviations depends on the behaviour of whenp 2. The variants of the asymptotic freedom (0) and scale invariance (g 2 0 ) are discussed. The strong suppression of—3 decay is considered as a support for the latter.Presented at the Symposium on Hadron-Hadron Scattering at High Energies, Liblice, Czechoslovakia, June 16–21, 1975.  相似文献

The exponent d for the probability of nonintersection of two random walks starting at the same point is considered. It is proved that 1/2<23/4. Monte Carlo simulations are done to suggest 2=0.61 and 30.29.  相似文献

In type-II superconductors in the flux flow (J J c ), flux creep (J c J c ), and thermally activated flux flow (TAFF) (J J c ) regimes the inductionB(r,t), averaged over several penetration depths , in general follows from a nonlinear equation of motion into which enter the nonlinear resistivities (B, J ,T) caused by flux motion and (B, J ,T) caused by other dissipative processes.J andJ are the current densities perpendicular and parallel toB,B=|B|, andT is the temperature. For flux flow and TAFF in isotropic superconductors with weak relative spatial variation ofB, this equation reduces to the diffusion equation plus a correction term which vanishes whenJ =0 (this means B××B=0) or when = 0 (isotropic normal conductor). When this diffusion equation holds the material anisotropy may be accounted for by a tensorial . The response of a superconductor to an applied current or to a change of the applied magnetic field is considered for various geometries. Such perturbations affect only a surface layer of thickness where a shielding current flows which pulls at the flux lines; the resulting deformation of the vortex lattice diffuses into the interior until a new equilibrium or a new stationary state is reached. The a.c. response, in particular the frequency with maximum damping, depends thus on the geometry and size of the superconductor.  相似文献

By introducing a specific type of perturbation,A, in the Hamiltonian, we define a class of gently perturbed states, ,A, of a canonical ensemble, . The perturbations are chosen so as to preserve a relationship of the form ,A constant ×. Applications in ergodic theory and phase transitions are described.  相似文献

We consider a variant of the problem of directed polymers on a disordered lattice, in which the disorder is geometrical in nature. In particular, we allow a finite probability for each bond to be absent from the lattice. We show, through the use of numerical and scaling arguments on both Euclidean and hierarchical lattices, that the model has two distinct scaling behaviors, depending upon whether the concentration of bonds on the lattice is at or above the directed percolation threshold. We are particularly interested in the exponents and, defined by ft and xt , describing the free-energy and transverse fluctuations, respectively. Above the percolation threshold, the scaling behavior is governed by the standard random energy exponents (=1/3 and =2/3 in 1+1 dimensions). At the percolation threshold, we predict (and verify numerically in 1+1 dimensions) the exponents=1/2 and =v/v, where v and v are the directed percolation exponents. In addition, we predict the absence of a free phase in any dimension at the percolation threshold.  相似文献

A comprehensive study of the ac response properties of the classical stochastic model for sliding charge density waves (CDW) in quasi one-dimensional metals is made by numerically solving the associated Fokker-Planck equation. Above the conductivity threshold a noise mechanism is indispensable to give finite line widths to the resonances of the applied ac signal of frequency with the narrow band noise frequency OSC inherent in the model. In the present investigation a current noise of strengthT N proportional to the CDW current is used in the Fokker-Planck equation in order to model the broad band current noise frequently observed above threshold. The present model thus incorporates three characteristic frequency scales: OSC,T N ,and a crossover frequency OSC. Results are evaluated for the ac conductivity (;E 0,E ) as function of frequency , dc bias electric fieldE 0 and ac signal field strengthE . ForE 0 the linear ac response is obtained by a separate treatment of the Fokker-Planck equation. The resonances near =OSC are studied in detail. Strong ac signals reduce the response at the fundamental resonance and lead to a harmonic interference structure nearn=OSC. The overall agreement of the present results with recent measurements of the linear ac response is not good. In reality our results seem to be superimposed on a background not reproduced by the classical model with one cross over frequency. However, the peak in Im (;E 0,E =0) vs.E 0, when the narrow band noise frequency is near , is well reproduced. The spectral width of this peak which corresponds to the inductive dip in the susceptibility is studied as function of current noise strengthT N .The results stress the need for a complete Fokker-Planck treatment sinceT N is not simply related to the line width.  相似文献

The properties of Pulsed-Laser-Deposited Diamond-Like Carbon (PLD DLC) films are studied as functions of the power density and the wavelength of the laser beam, and the incident angle of the beam relative to the normal of the target surface. All the films have a similar structure consisting of graphite particulates embedded in a continuous matrix, so the macroscopic performance of the films is determined by the overall contributions of the particulates and the matrix. The use of higher, shorter, or larger leads to an enhancement of the diamond-like characteristics and a simultaneous increase of the particulate density. These two effects give opposite contributions to the electrical conductivity R, leading to the following results. (i) R drops with increasing in the low range (region I) due to the stronger diamond-like nature of the matrix, but increases sharply after has exceeded a threshold min as a result of the rapid increase in particulate density. (ii) In region I, the use of shorter or larger leads to a more diamond-like matrix, and this overwhelms the degradation effect caused by the slight increase in particulate density. The samples thus become more insulating. In the high region (region II), however, the use of shorter or larger gives rise to higher particulate density, thereby increasing the electrical conductivity.  相似文献

We calculate, using numerical methods, the Lyapunov exponent (E) and the density of states (E) at energy E of a one-dimensional non-Hermitian Schrödinger equation with off-diagonal disorder. For the particular case we consider, both (E) and (E) depend only on the modulus of E. We find a pronounced maximum of (|E|) at energy E=2/ , which seems to be linked to the fixed point structure of an associated random map. We show how the density of states (E) can be expanded in powers of E. We find (|E|)=(1/ 2)+(4/3 3) |E|2+. This expansion, which seems to be asymptotic, can be carried out to an arbitrarily high order.  相似文献

Davis-Mott and Tauc models of optical absorption at the absorption edge in the high absorption coefficient region (104cm–1) are carefully reviewed with regard to their theoretical foundations, assumptions, mathematical derivations, and results. The full implications of these models are exploited, and it is found that the Davis-Mott model for negligible matrix elements between localised states could account for the cubic power law behaviour of with photon energy of some amorphous semiconductors such as a-Si. A fractional power law to find the optical band gapE opt, of the form [ (E opt)r; 2r3] based on Davis-Mott model is proposed in which the indexr can be a function of disorder. The Tauc model has further been extended to the case of negligible matrix elements between localised states, in which the same square power law for vs. with the same meaning of the optical gap as in the original Tauc model has resulted. A consideration of the case of unequal matrix elements for those transitions between localised states and those between extended states is also included. The meaning ofE opt has been re-assessed and it is emphasized that it is an extrapolation of delocalised states to the zero of the density of states rather than a threshold energy for the onset of some kind of optical transitions. This paper is cordially dedicated to Professor C. A. Hogarth who taught us the Physics of amorphous materials.  相似文献

From the eigenvalue equationH \ n () =E n ()\ n () withH H 0 +V one can derive an autonomous system of first order differential equations for the eigenvaluesE n () and the matrix elementsV mn () where is the independent variable. To solve the dynamical system we need the initial valuesE n ( = 0) and \ n ( = 0). Thus one finds the motion of the energy levelsE n (). We discuss the question of energy level crossing. Furthermore we describe the connection with the stationary state perturbation theory. The dependence of the survival probability as well as some thermodynamic quantities on is derived. This means we calculate the differential equations which these quantities obey. Finally we derive the equations of motion for the extended caseH =H 0 +V 1 + 2 V 2 and give an application to a supersymmetric Hamiltonian.  相似文献

Letw = {w(x)xZd} be a positive random field with i.i.d. distribution. Given its realization, letX t be the position at timet of a particle starting at the origin and performing a simple random walk with jump rate w–1(Xt). The processX={X t:t0} combined withw on a common probability space is an example of random walk in random environment. We consider the quantities t =(d/dt) E (X t 2M –1 t and t(w) = (d/dt)Ew(X t 2 – M 1t). Here Ew. is expectation overX at fixedw and E = Ew (dw) is the expectation over bothX andw. We prove the following long-time tail results: (1) limt td/2t= V2Md/2–3(d/2)d/2 and (2) limt td/4 st(w)= Zs weakly in path space, with {Zs:s>0} the Gaussian process with EZs=0 and EZrZs= V2Md/2–4(d)d/2 (r + s)–d/2. HereM and V2 are the mean and variance of w(0) under . The main surprise is that fixingw changes the power of the long-time tail fromd/2 tod/4. Since , with 0 the stationary measure for the environment process, our result (1) exhibits a long-time tail in an equilibrium autocorrelation function.  相似文献

Various thermal equilibrium and nonequilibrium phase transitions exist where the correlation lengths in different lattice directions diverge with different exponentsv ,v : uniaxial Lifshitz points, the Kawasaki spin exchange model driven by an electric field, etc. An extension of finite-size scaling concepts to such anisotropic situations is proposed, including a discussion of (generalized) rectangular geometries, with linear dimensionL in the special direction and linear dimensionsL in all other directions. The related shape effects forL L but isotropic critical points are also discussed. Particular attention is paid to the case where the generalized hyperscaling relationv +(d–1)v =+2 does not hold. As a test of these ideas, a Monte Carlo simulation study for shape effects at isotropic critical point in the two-dimensional Ising model is presented, considering subsystems of a 1024x1024 square lattice at criticality.Visiting Supercomputer Senior Scientist at Rutgers University.  相似文献

We report analyses of series enumerations for the mean radius of gyration for isotropic and directed lattice animals and for percolation clusters, in two and three dimensions. We allow for the leading correction to the scaling behaviour and obtain estimates of the leading correction-to-scaling exponent . We find -0.640±0.004 and =0.87±0.07 for isotropic animals in 2d, and =0.64±0.06 in 3d. For directed lattice animals we argue that the leading correction has= or= ; we also estimate =0.82±0.01 and 0.69 ±0.01 ind=2, 3 respectively. For percolation clusters at and abovep c, we find (p c) =0.58±0.06 and (p>p c)=0.84±0.09 in 2d, and (p c)=0.42±0.11 and (p>p c)=0.41 ±0.09 in 3d.  相似文献

The initial stages of phase separation are studied for a model binary alloy (AB) with pairwise interactions AA , AB , BB between nearest neighbors, assuming that there is no direct interchange of neighboring atoms possible, but only an indirect one mediated by vacancies (V) occurring in the system at a concentrationc v and which are strictly conserved, as are the concentrationsc A andc B of the two species.A-atoms may jump to vacant sites with jump rate A , B-atoms with jump rate B (in the absence of interactions). Particular attention is paid to the question to what extent nonuniform distribution of vacancies affects the unmixing kinetics. Our study focuses on the special case A = B on a square lattice, considering three different choices of interactions with the same = AB – ( AA + BB )/2: (i) AB =, AA = BB = 0; (ii) AA = 0, AA = BB ; = ; (iii) AB = BB = 0, AA = –2. We obtain both the time evolution of the structure factorS(k,t) following a quench from infinite temperature to the considered temperature, and the timedependence of the mean cluster size and the various neighborhood probabilities of a vacancy. While in case (i) forc V 0.16 the distribution of vacancies in the system stays nearly random, in case (ii) the vacancies cluster in theA-B interfacial region, and in case (iii) they get nearly completely expelled from theA-rich regions. While phase separation proceeds in case (i) only slightly faster than in case (ii), a significant slowing down of the relaxation is observed for case (iii), which shows up in a strong reduction of the effective exponents describing the growth.  相似文献

Local as well as surface waves excited in a streamingless plasma are investigated. In addition to the gradient instabilities of an isothermal plasma now branches of a convective type are found in plasmas with a hot electron componentZ T e T i . Both their frequencies and growth rates may exceed the ion cyclotron frequency, > Bi even if the effect of the finite ion Larmor radius is negligible. Then the surface waves may become of enhanced importance. We compare, therefore, the conditions for excitation and the growth rates of the surface waves with those of the short wavelength (local) perturbations. Upper estimates of the saturated wave amplitudes are also given. For a special profile of the plasma density the problem is solved analytically also in the plasma boundary layer. On leave of absence from the Physical and Technical Institute, Kharkov, U.S.S.R.  相似文献

The critical behaviour of axially anisotropicn-vector models is characterized by two distinct length scales, the correlation lengths and for the easy and hard axes. In order to handle the full range of anisotropics from to partial differential renormalization group equations are derived, depending on and . The anisotropicX-Y model is studied in detail near four dimensions. The crossover scaling functions for the susceptibilities are calculated to first order in=4–d. Two distinct crossover regions are found for weak and dominant anisotropy, respectively.  相似文献

Refractive-index and optical-absorption spectra of Bi-substituted yttrium iron garnet films, epitaxially grown by liquid-phase epitaxy, have been measured in the spectral regime 0.26 m1.9 m by thin-film interference for 0.52 m and by ellipsometry for0.52 m. The Y3–x–y Bi x Pb y Fe5–z Pt z O12 films contain bismuth in the range Ox 1.42, lead in the range 0.01 y0.08 and platinum in the range 0.005<=z0.03. There is satisfactory coincidence between the results from ellipsometry and thin-film interference in the overlapping wavelength region. The materials investigated are the same as reported earlier from this laboratory in ter mof their magnetic and magnetooptic properties.  相似文献
