This paper reports thermoluminescence(TL), optical absorption and TL emission studies that are made on Ce3+ doped KCl single crystals irradiated at room temperature. The glow curve and optical absorption studies indicate the participation of Ce3+ ions in the TL process. The TL study suggests the presence of low concentration of Ce3+ ions which reduces the TL efficiency with respect to pure KCl samples. On F bleaching γ irradiated crystals Z1 centers are observed. A broader and strongly intense violet blue emission at 290, 370, 423 and 488 nm has been observed with 240 nm excitation. This emission has been attributed due to the transition from 5d(2D) excited energy level to the 4f1 ground stable energy level (2F5/2 and 3F7/2) of Ce3+ doped KCl crystals.  相似文献

A new phosphor in the Cl-F system doped with Dy, Ce and Eu has been reported. Characterization of this phosphor using XRD, PL and TL techniques is described. Polycrystalline Na6(SO4)2FCl:Dy; Na6(SO4)2FCl:Ce and Na6(SO4)2FCl:Eu phosphors prepared by a solid state diffusion method have been studied for their X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL)characteristics. The PL excitation and emission spectra of phosphors were obtained. Dy3+ emission in the host at 475 and 570 nm is observed due to 4F9/26H15/2 and 4F9/26H13/2 transition, respectively, whereas the PL emission spectra of Na6(SO4)2FCl:Ce phosphor shows the Ce3+ emission at 322 nm due to 5d→4f transition of Ce3+ ion. In Na6(SO4)2FCl:Eu lattice, Eu2+ as well as Eu3+ emissions are observed. The emission of europium ion in this compound exhibits the blue as well as red emission. The TL glow curves of the same compounds have the simple structure with a prominent peak at 150, 175 and 200 °C. TL response, fading, reusability and trapping parameters of the phosphors are also studied. The TL glow curves of γ-irradiated Na6(SO4)2FCl sample show one glow peak indicating that only one set of traps is being activated within the particular temperature range each with its own value of activation energy (E) and frequency factor (s). The trapping parameters associated with the prominent glow peak are calculated using Chen’s half width method. The release of hole/electron from defect centers at the characteristic trap site initiates the luminescence process in these materials. The intensity of the TL glow peaks increases with increase of the added γ-ray dose to the samples.  相似文献

This paper reports the thermoluminescence (TL) and other optical studies made on terbium-doped KBr crystals X-irradiated at room temperature. Photoluminescence studies confirm the presence of terbium ions in the KBr matrix in their trivalent form. Formation of Z1 centres on F-bleaching of X-irradiated crystals is observed. The characteristic emission due to Tb3+ ions in the spectral distribution under optically stimulated emission and thermoluminescence emission confirm the participation of the Tb ions in the recombination process. TL process has been identified to be due to the thermal mobilization of electrons produced during the colouration process.  相似文献

This paper reports that KI doped with Ce3+ or double doped with Tb3+ and Ce3+ were prepared by the Bridgman-Stockbarger method and characterized by optical absorption photoluminescence (PL), thermoluminescence (TL), photostimulated emission (PSL) and TL emission. The optical absorption measurement indicates that F and V1, V2 centers are formed in the crystals during the γ irradiation process. It was attempted to incorporate a broad band of Ce3+ activator into the narrow band emission of Tb3+ in the KI host without the reduction of emission intensity. Ce3+-co-doped KI and Tb crystals showed a broad band emission due to the d-f transition of Ce3+ and a reduction in the intensity of emission peaks due to the 5D3-7Fj (j=3,4,5,6) transition of Tb3+, when they were excited at 240 nm.These results supported that an effective energy transfer occurs from Tb3+ to Ce3+ in the KI host. Co-doping Ce3+ ions greatly intensified the excitation peak at 260 nm for the emission at 393 nm of Tb3+, which means that more lattice defects, involved in the energy absorption and transfer to Tb3+, are formed by the Ce3+ co-doping. The integrated light intensity is an order of magnitude higher as compared to the undoped samples for similar doses of irradiation and heating rates. The defects generated by irradiation were monitored by optical absorption and TSL Trap parameters for the TL process are calculated and presented.  相似文献

Abstract

Nominally pure and Dy-doped BaF2 crystals were investigated concerning their optical absorption (OA) and thermoluminescence (TL) properties. Peaks at 120—150 and 200°C were observed for a heating rate of 1.7°C/s. The TL response for γ-rays and the TL emission spectra were obtained for these peaks. Except for the purest crystal, all BaF2 crystals produced OA bands before irradiation typical of Ce3+ ions. After irradiation, Dy doped crystals showed bands due to Dy2+ ions. A nominally pure sample gave bands related to Ce2+ ions and photochromic centers of Ce3+ ions. and photochromic centres of Ce3+ ions. The correlation between some OA bands and TL peaks is discussed.  相似文献

In the present paper, KMgSO4Cl:Ce3+, KMgSO4Cl:Ce3+,Dy3+, and KMgSO4Cl:Ce3+,Mn2+, new halosulphate phosphors were synthesized by wet chemical method. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence (PL) characterization of phosphors have been reported in this paper. The effects of Dy3+ co-doping on the PL characteristics of KMgSO4Cl:Ce phosphor were studied. Energy transfer from Ce3+→Dy3+and Ce3+→Mn2+ results in increase in PL peak intensity suggesting that Ce3+ plays an important role in PL emission in the present matrix. The PL emission spectra have two peaks (482 and 571 nm) and a single peak (564 nm), which could be attributed to the Ce3+→Dy3+and Ce3+→Mn2+ emissions, respectively.  相似文献

Polycrystalline KCaSO4Cl:Eu, Dy, KCaSO4Cl:Ce, Dy and KCaSO4Cl:Ce, Mn phosphors prepared by a solid state diffusion method have been studied for its photoluminescence (PL) characteristics. The presence of two overlapping bands at around 400 and 450 nm in the PL emission spectra of the phosphor suggests the presence of Eu2+ in the host compound occupying two different lattice sites. The effects of co-doping on the photoluminescence (PL) characteristics of KCaSO4Cl:Eu or Ce phosphors have been studied. The decrease in peak intensity of the phosphor on co-doping it with Dy gives an insight into the emission mechanism of the phosphors, which involves energy transfer from Eu2+→Dy3+, Ce3+→Dy3+ and Ce3+→Mn2+.  相似文献

Thermoluminescence (TL) characteristics of recently developed high sensitive mixed halosulphate phosphors, NaMgSO4Cl: Cu and NaMgSO4Cl: Ce were studied in comparison with CaSO4: Dy in order to assess the possibility of their use in personal monitoring and TLD phosphors at very low dose of 5 Gy. It was found that NaMgSO4Cl: Cu is 5.59 times and NaMgSO4Cl: Ce is 6.18 times more sensitive as compared to standard CaSO4: Dy. UV photo-excited luminescence from Cu to Ce doped NaMgSO4Cl halosulphate phosphors has been investigated. The intense emission of the spectrum is assigned to electronic transitions 3d94s1→3d10 in monovalent copper ion and 5d→4f in Ce3+ ions. Increase in PL peak intensity suggesting that Cu and Ce play an important role in PL emission in the present matrix. These phosphors were synthesized by the wet chemical method. XRD, photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL) characterization of phosphors has been reported in this paper. The preparation of an inexpensive and high sensitive NaMgSO4Cl: Cu and NaMgSO4Cl: Ce with TL glow peaks for different concentrations are observed between 160 and 195 °C and between 200 and 225 °C, respectively, exposed to gamma-rays of 60Co for their thermoluminescence (TL) properties. The glow curves have been recorded at a heating rate of 2 K s?1 and irradiated at a dose rate of 0.995 kGy h?1 for 5 Gy. In present study the trapping parameters such as order of kinetics (b), activation energy (E) and frequency factors (s) have been calculated for the 195 and 200 °C glow peaks of NaMgSO4Cl: Cu and NaMgSO4Cl: Ce, respectively by using Chen's method. The paper discusses the luminescence of Cu+ and Ce3+ by simple method of incorporation in NaMgSO4Cl host.  相似文献

Polycrystalline powder samples of terbium doped Zn(BO2)2 phosphors were prepared by solid state reaction in the thermal carbon reducing atmosphere at high temperature. The photoluminescence (PL), three-dimensional (3D) TL emission spectrum and dosimetric characteristics following 60Co gamma-rays irradiation were studied. Characteristic emission bands of Tb3+ at about 490, 543, 584 and 620 nm, attributed to the 5D47FJ (J=3, 4, 5, 6) transitions of Tb3+ ions, were observed in the TL and PL emission spectrum. No emission from Tb4+ ions was observed in the TL emission spectrum. The TL-dose response of the powder samples Zn(BO2)2:Tb to 60Co gamma-rays radiation in the dose range from 1 to 100 Gy for clinical dose levels was almost linear. The experiment results showed that Zn(BO2)2:Tb has potential use as the materials of gamma-rays thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) for clinical dosimetry.  相似文献

Powder samples of barium aluminate doped with Mn2+ and Ce3+ were prepared by solid-state reaction method and their photoluminescence and thermoluminescence properties were studied. Substitution of Ca/Sr in place of Ba resulted in enhanced emission from Ce3+ ions without changing the spectral profile. Cerium efficiently sensitized the manganese luminescence in barium aluminate. Photoluminescence and thermo luminescence observations have indicated the presence of Vk3+ defects in undoped barium aluminate. However, Barium aluminate (either undoped or doped with manganese) did not exhibit long afterglow.  相似文献

The results of a study of time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) and energy transfer in both pure and doped with Ce3+ ions SrAlF5 (SAF) single crystals are presented. The time-resolved and steady-state PL spectra in the energy range of 1.5–6.0 eV, the PL excitation spectra and the reflectivity in the energy range of 3.7–21 eV, as well as the PL decay kinetics were measured at 8.8 and 295 K. The lattice defects were revealed in the low temperature PL spectra (emission bands at 2.9 and 4.5 eV) in the undoped SAF crystals. The luminescence spectra of the doped Ce3+:SAF crystals demonstrate a new selective emission bands in the range of 3.7–4.5 eV with the exponential decay kinetics (τ ≈ 60 ns at X-ray excitation). These bands correspond to the d-f transitions in Ce3+ ions, which occupy nonequivalent sites in the crystal lattice.  相似文献

Lithium Calcium borate (LiCaBO3) polycrystalline thermoluminescence (TL) phosphor doped with rare earth (RE3+) elements has been synthesized by high temperature solid state diffusion reaction. The reaction has produced a very stable crystalline LiCaBO3:RE3+ phosphors. Among these RE3+ doped phosphors thulium doped material showed maximum TL sensitivity with favorable glow curve shape. TL glow curve of gamma irradiated LiCaBO3:Tm3+ samples had shown two major well-separated glow peaks at 230 and 430 °C. The glow peak at 430 °C is almost thrice the intensity of the glow peak at 230 °C. The TL sensitivity of the phosphor to gamma radiation was about eight times that of TLD-100 (LiF). Photoluminescence and TL emission spectra showed the characteristic Tm3+ peaks. TL response to gamma radiation dose was linear up to 103 Gy. Post-irradiation TL fading on storage in room temperature and elevated temperatures was studied in LiCaBO3:Tm3+ phosphor.  相似文献

A novel approach is reported to minimize various defect centers in Ce doped Gd3Ga3Al2O12 single crystals to improve the scintillation properties. The crystals of Gd3Ga3Al2O12 codoped with 0.2 at% Ce and B (GGAG:Ce,B) have been grown in air and argon ambient using the Czochralski technique. The scintillation light output of crystals grown in Ar ambient was significantly increased after annealing the crystals in air. The measured light output of 60000 ph/MeV for annealed crystals is the highest value reported among this class of materials. As a consequence, the energy resolution at 662 keV gamma‐rays from a 137Cs source was improved from 8% for the crystals grown in air to 6% for crystals grown in Ar and subsequently annealed in air. Further, the thermal quenching energy of photoluminescence (PL) emission was increased to be 470 meV for the annealed crystals. The thermoluminescence (TL) measurements suggest that the crystals grown in Ar ambient and post‐growth annealed in air may have a lesser concentration of trap centers which subsequently lead to the improvement in optical and scintillation properties leading to a superior detector performance. The prepared Eu3+ doped phosphors were excited by 395 nm then we found that the characteristics emission of europium ions at 615 nm (5D0?7F2) and 592 nm (5D0?7F1). Photoluminescence (PL) peaks situated at wavelengths of 363 and 378 nm in the UV region under excitation at around 326 nm in the Sr4Al2O7:Ce3+ phosphor.  相似文献

This paper reports the thermoluminescence (TL), optical absorption and other laser Raman scattering studies performed on terbium-doped KI crystals γ-irradiated at room temperature. Photoluminescence studies confirm the presence of terbium ions in the KI matrix in their trivalent form. Formation of V3- and Z1-centres on F-bleaching of γ-irradiated crystals was observed. The characteristic emission due to Tb3+ ions in the spectral distribution under optically stimulated emission and TL emission confirms the participation of the Tb3+ ions in the recombination process. The Raman bands were identified as the totally symmetric vibration modes of f.c.c. species KI:Tb3+.  相似文献

Thermoluminescence properties of lanthanum aluminum oxide (LaAlO3) crystals doped with optically active rare earth ions have been investigated for ultraviolet dosimetry purposes. Single crystals co-doped with 5.0 at.% of Ce3+ and 1.0 at.% of Dy3+ ions have two thermoluminescent (TL) peaks at 151 °C and 213 °C which can be sensitized after 1 h of UV exposure. The material shows very high TL output and linear response for UV spectral irradiance ranging from 0.04 to 1.20 mJ cm−2, that corresponds to 10 times the TL response of the Al2O3:C oxides. From 0.62 to 148.0 mJ cm−2 the dependence is linear with the logarithm of the spectral irradiance. The investigation demonstrates that LaAlO3:Ce,Dy crystals are very attractive to be investigated as UV dosimeters.  相似文献

This article presents results of thermoluminescence (TL) and photoluminescence (PL) measurements performed on beta-irradiated K 2YF 5:Tb 3++PTFE pellets. K 2YF 5 crystals doped with 0.1% of trivalent optically active Tb 3+ ions in pellets form were investigated. The TL glow curve of K 2YF 5:Tb 3++PTFE has a simple structure with two well-defined peaks centered at 170 and 307 °C. The TL sensitivity of the K 2YF 5:Tb 3++PTFE irradiated with beta radiation was found to be higher than that of commercial phosphor TLD-100 (LiF:Mg,Ti), at the same conditions of irradiation and readout. Moreover, PL measurements performed on the terbium doped material show the presence of Terbium as Tb 3+ in the material.  相似文献

Synthesis and photoluminescence (PL) investigations of lithium metasilicate doped with Eu3+, Tb3+ and Ce3+ were carried out. PL spectra of Eu-doped sample showed peaks corresponding to the 5D07Fj (j=1, 2, 3 and 4) transitions under ultraviolet excitation. Strong red emission coming from the hypersensitive 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+ ion suggested the presence of the dopant ion in structurally disordered environment. Tb3+-doped silicate sample showed blue-green emission corresponding to the 5D47Fj (j=6, 5 and 4) transitions. Ce-doped sample under excitation from UV, showed a broad emission band in the region 350-370 nm with shoulders around 410 nm. The fluorescence lifetimes of Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions were found out to be 790 and 600 μs, respectively. For Ce3+, the lifetime was of the order of 45 ns. PL spectra of the europium- and terbium-doped samples were compared with commercial red (Y2O3:Eu3+) and green (LaPO4:Tb3+) phosphors, respectively. It was found that the emission from the doped silicate sample was 37% of the commercial phosphor in case of the Tb-doped sample and 8% of the commercial phosphor in case of the Eu-doped sample.  相似文献

Polycrystalline KMgSO4Cl:Eu and Na5(PO4)SO4:Ce phosphors prepared by a wet chemical method have been studied for its photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL) characteristics. The TL glow curve of the compound has a prominent peak at 200 °C and may be useful for TL study. TL sensitivity of the KMgSO4Cl:Eu phosphor is found to be 1.7 times less than that of TLD—CaSO4:Dy. The presence of bands at around 420, 435 and 445 nm in the PL emission spectra of the phosphor suggests the presence of Eu2+ in the host compound. Moreover a TL glow curve of the Na5(PO4)SO4:Ce gives a better understanding of the TL mechanism (peaks at 271 and 310 °C) involved in the concerned phosphor. The PL emission spectra are observed at 382 nm for the various concentrations. In this paper we report PL and TL characteristics of KMgSO4Cl:Eu halosulphate and Na5(PO4)SO4:Ce phosphate sulphate phosphors first time.  相似文献
