Copropagating fundamental-wavelength and second-harmonic femtosecond pulses of Cr: forsterite laser radiation are used to study cross-phase-modulation-induced instabilities and frequency shifts in a photonic-crystal fiber. Parametric instability of the second-harmonic probe pulse induced through cross-phase modulation by the fundamental-wavelength pump pulse gives rise to distinct sidebands in the spectrum of the probe field transmitted through the fiber. The wavelength of these sidebands was tuned in our experiments within approximately 100 nm by varying the peak power and the delay time of the pump pulse, suggesting a convenient way of controlled parametric spectral transformation of ultrashort laser pulses.This revised version was published online in March 2005. Quantum properties of parametric amplification and frequency conversion of an optical image in coupled parametric interactions are analyzed for the case of a remote object. The coupled-wave interaction consists of a traditional process of parametric amplification in the high-frequency pump field accompanied by the frequency mixing of generated and pump waves. The photon number density and signal-to-noise ratio at the interacting frequencies are studied in the image plane at the output of the nonlinear frequency converter in the fixed pump field approximation. The degree of entanglement of optical images at frequencies above and below the pump frequency is investigated.  相似文献

We present a χ(3) fiber parametric oscillator with high conversion efficiency from the input pump wave to the output parametric sidebands. By introducing an intracavity filter detuned from the oscillator's phase-matched frequency conversion efficiencies considerably higher than those possible when operating at the phase-matched frequency are demonstrated. Experimentally we are able to obtain a total internal conversion efficiency in excess of 93% from the pump to the Stokes and anti-Stokes sidebands.  相似文献

We present experiments that show achievement of highly efficient generation of parametric sidebands in an optical fiber with dual-frequency, circularly polarized pump waves. We report on a subterahertz superlattice parametric oscillator that operated simultaneously at two different harmonic frequencies of a microwave pump field. A pump field (frequency near 100 GHz) was coupled to a GaAs/AlAs superlattice in a resonator for the third and the fifth harmonic. The pump field produced a third harmonic field and this together with the pump field created a fifth harmonic field. A theoretical analysis indicates that the nonlinearity, which is based on the dynamics of miniband electrons, should allow for the upconversion of pump radiation of higher frequency into the terahertz frequency range.   相似文献

本文利用高重复频率,高平均功率大模场面积飞秒光纤激光器作为同步抽运源,抽运以多周期极化掺氧化镁铌酸锂为非线性晶体的单共振光学参量振荡器,获得了高功率可调谐红光至中红外光,信号光调谐范围为1450—2200 nm,闲频光调谐范围为2250—4000 nm,在2 W的抽运功率下,信号光输出波长为1502 nm时获得最大输出功率374 mW,转换效率为18.7%,脉冲宽度为144 fs,此时中红外输出中心波长为3.4μm,平均功率为166 mW.再利用BBO晶体对信号光进行腔内和频,获得和频光输出波长调谐范围为610—668 nm,在4.1 W抽运的情况下,最高平均功率为615 nm处的694 mW,转换效率达16.9%.  相似文献

We report operation of an all-fiber degenerate optical parametric oscillator that employs a nonlinear-fiber Sagnac interferometer as a parametric amplifier. Synchronous pumping with 3.9-ps pulses at 1544 nm yields 0.83-ps output pulses. The wide bandwidth of the fiber parametric amplifier causes the oscillator to act as a pulse compressor. The output signal pulses exhibit improved spectral symmetry and a reduced time-bandwidth product compared with the pump pulses. Currently, the net group-velocity dispersion in the passive section of the fiber cavity limits the signal-pulse bandwidth and hence the minimum-obtainable pulse width. This experiment suggests the possibility of frequency conversion by operation of a similar pulsed parametric oscillator away from degeneracy.  相似文献

The parametric instability of surface waves on the second harmonic of electron cyclotron frequency (SWCF) in a plasma filled dielectric wave guide is examined in a kinetic approximation. The studied surface waves are extraordinary polarized modes and propagate across the external steady magnetic field. The amplitude of the electrical pump wave is assumed to be small. Simple expressions for increments of the parametric instability of the SWCF are calculated. The otained results can be used in controlled fusion researches in order to avoid undesirable regimes of plasma periphery heating in that fusion devices which use the resonance electron cyclotron heating method.  相似文献

利用低频光通信波段真空压缩态光场可实现基于光纤的量子精密测量.本文利用简并光学参量振荡器实验制备出1550 nm低频真空压缩态光场.在分析频段10—500 kHz范围内压缩态光场的压缩度均达3 dB.用实验制备的1550 nm真空压缩态光场填补光纤马赫-曾德尔干涉仪的真空通道,实现了量子增强型光纤马赫-曾德尔干涉仪,完成了突破标准量子极限的相位调制频率为500 kHz的低频信号测量.与光纤马赫-曾德尔干涉仪相比,测量信噪比提高了2 dB.  相似文献

Femtosecond Cr: forsterite laser pulses coupled into small-diameter birefringent channel waveguides off the central core of a photonic-crystal fiber are shown to generate multiple narrowband spectral peaks within the 380–460 nm wavelength region through multimode-phase-matched third-harmonic generation. Some of these peaks are shifted by tens of terahertz from the tripled frequency of the pump field, dictated by standard energy conservation for third-harmonic generation in monochromatic fields. The spectral contents of the third-harmonic signal generated in such a regime are controlled by changing polarization and the intensity of the input pump field.  相似文献

We present a widely tunable low-threshold chi(3) optical parametric oscillator. The oscillator cavity is formed by butt coupling dichroic mirrors to either end of a highly nonlinear index-guiding photonic crystal fiber. This yields a singly resonant Fabry-Perot oscillator with a high feedback fraction for the resonant parametric sideband. The tuning range of the output parametric sideband stretches from 23 to 164 THz above the pump frequency. The threshold power of the oscillator is only 15 W.  相似文献

The effect of a spatially-uniform periodic magnetic field on waves propagating perpendicular to it in a cold plasma is considered. Assuming that the pump field is weak, the method of multiple time scales is used to treat the problem. The results show that, unlike the pump electric field, the pump magnetic field does not produce any parametric excitation of the transverse waves, no matter what the value of the frequency mismatch is.  相似文献

Four-wave mixing of an intense continuous-wave pump beam with an ultrashort soliton signal in an optical fiber is theoretically analyzed. A novel class of stable two-color coupled solitary waves is found. These vector parametric solitons represent the optimal frequency conversion of an ultrashort pulse.  相似文献

We theoretically and numerically study the difference frequency generation and the signal amplification bandwidth together with the pump wavelength acceptance for counterpropagating optical parametric amplifiers. It is shown that the specific advantage of those amplifiers is that the DFG and amplification bandwidth is much narrower than in a co-propagating scheme, thus making it possible to shift spectrally or to amplify selectively a single channel over the several present in WDM optical fiber communications. Moreover, the pump wavelength acceptance is shown to be as broad as in the co-propagating scheme. The implementation of such counterpropagating optical parametric amplifiers in a quasi-phase-matched LiNbO3 waveguide is discussed.  相似文献

We demonstrate the generation of broadband continuous-wave optical squeezing from 280 Hz-100 kHz using a below-threshold optical parametric oscillator (OPO). The squeezed state phase was controlled using a noise locking technique. We show that low frequency noise sources, such as seed noise, pump noise, and detuning fluctuations, present in optical parametric amplifiers, have negligible effect on squeezing produced by a below-threshold OPO. This low frequency squeezing is ideal for improving the sensitivity of audio frequency measuring devices such as gravitational-wave detectors.  相似文献

随着高输出功率掺铒光纤放大器和高非线性光纤的出现和使用,光纤参变放大器(OPAs)中出现了越来越多的增益饱和现象,这是光放大器中应该尽量避免的。对此,提出了依据光纤参变放大器的光纤非线性系数、抽运光功率、信号输入功率等参量对光纤长度进行优化设计的解决思路。明确提出最佳光纤长度的概念,即在其他参量一定的情况下使信号增益或信号输出功率达到最大所需的最小光纤长度,而且最佳光纤长度有利于提高光纤参变放大的增益带宽和波长转换带宽。通过数值积分求解描述光纤参变放大过程的非线性耦合方程,并运用控制变量法深入研究了最佳光纤长度与光纤非线性系数、抽运光功率、信号输入功率的关系。最后用最小二乘法进行数据拟合确定系数,得到简洁、实用的最佳光纤长度解析表达式。与已有实验结果比较表明,该解析式可很好地用来计算和优化光纤参变放大的光纤长度。  相似文献

We report on the observation of widely tunable optical parametric generation in a photonic crystal fiber. The frequency shift of the generated sidebands that arise from modulational instability is strongly dependent on the detuning of the pump from the fiber's zero-dispersion wavelength. We are able to demonstrate experimentally more than 450 nm of sideband tunability as we tune the pump wavelength over 10 nm. Excellent agreement has been found between the experimentally measured and theoretically predicted shifts.  相似文献

Femtosecond pulses of fundamental Cr:forsterite laser radiation are used as a pump field to tune the frequency of copropagating second-harmonic pulses of the same laser through cross-phase modulation in a photonic crystal fiber. Sub-100-kW femtosecond pump pulses coupled into a photonic crystal fiber with an appropriate dispersion profile can shift the central frequency of the probe field by more than 100 nm, suggesting a convenient way to control propagation and spectral transformations of ultrashort laser pulses.  相似文献

A diode-pumped system for optical parametric generation of wavelength-tunable femtosecond pulses is demonstrated. It comprises an Er-doped fiber mode-locked laser, a fiber chirped-pulse amplifier, and a bulk periodically poled LiNbO(3) (PPLN) optical parametric generator. The parametric generator is pumped at 777 nm with frequency-doubled microjoule pulses from the fiber amplifier and produces 300-fs pulses tunable from 1 to 3microm with output energies up to ~200 nJ. Use of a PPLN nonlinear crystal substantially reduces the pump energies required for efficient parametric generation. Saturated single-pass parametric energy conversion of 38% (internal) has been achieved with only 220 nJ of pump inside the crystal. A parametric generation threshold of 54 nJ is observed, and efficient parametric conversion is obtained with repetition rates up to 200 kHz.  相似文献
