The soluble poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐octavinyl‐polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane) (PMMA–POSS) hybrid nanocomposites with improved Tg and high thermal stability were synthesized by common free radical polymerization and characterized using FTIR, high‐resolution 1H NMR, 29Si NMR, GPC, DSC, and TGA. The POSS contents in the nanocomposites were determined based on FTIR spectrum, revealing that it can be effectively adjusted by varying the feed ratio of POSS in the hybrid composites. On the basis of the 1H NMR analysis, the number of the reacted vinyl groups on each POSS molecules was determined to be about 6–8. The DSC and TGA measurements indicated that the hybrid nanocomposites had higher Tg and better thermal properties than the pure PMMA homopolymer. The Tg increase mechanism was investigated using FTIR, displaying that the dipole–dipole interaction between PMMA and POSS also plays very important role to the Tg improvement besides the molecular motion hindrance from the hybrid structure. The thermal stability enhances with increase of POSS content, which is mainly attributed to the incorporation of nanoscale inorganic POSS uniformly dispersed at molecular level. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A kind of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) containing the propoxyl‐epoxy and phenyl groups (pr‐ep‐Ph‐POSS) was synthesized via hydrolytic condensation reaction. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry identified the structure of the pr‐ep‐Ph‐POSS, including major caged Si6O9 (T6), Si10O15 (T10), Si12O18 (T12), etc. The pr‐ep‐Ph‐POSS was applied into the epoxy resin to achieve EP/pr‐ep‐Ph‐POSS composites. Thermogravimetric analysis indicated that EP/pr‐ep‐Ph‐POSS showed excellent thermal properties than pure EP. The fire behaviors of EP/pr‐ep‐Ph‐POSS composites were evaluated based on the cone calorimetry, limiting oxygen index (LOI), UL‐94 vertical burning test, and smoke density test. The smoke density decreased by ~30%, the LOI value reached to 26.4%, dripping was inhibited, and the peak of heat release rate decreased by ~62%. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis and FTIR indicated that protective‐barrier effect is the main flame‐retardant mode of action for pr‐ep‐Ph‐POSS, due to the formation of the Si‐O‐Si, Si‐O‐C, and Si‐C condensed phase, which improve the thermal stability, strength, and integrity of the char layer.  相似文献

Poly[isobutyl methacrylate‐co‐butanediol dimethacrylate‐co‐3‐methacrylylpropylheptaisobutyl‐T8‐polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane] [P(iBMA‐co‐BDMA‐co‐MA‐POSS)] nanocomposites with different crosslink densities and different polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (MA‐POSS) percentages (5, 10, 15, 20, and 30 wt %) were synthesized by radical‐initiated terpolymerization. Linear [P(iBMA‐co‐MA‐POSS)] copolymers were also prepared. The viscoelastic properties and morphologies were studied by dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, confocal microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The viscoelastic properties depended on the crosslink density. The dependence of viscoelastic properties on MA‐POSS content at a low BDMA loading (1 wt %) was similar to that of linear P(iBMA‐co‐MA‐POSS) copolymers. P(iBMA‐co‐1 wt % BDMA‐co‐10 wt % MA‐POSS) exhibited the highest dynamic storage modulus (E′) values in the rubbery region of this series. The 30 wt % MA‐POSS nanocomposites with 1 wt % BDMA exhibited the lowest E′. However, the E′ values in the rubbery region for P(iBMA‐co‐3 wt % BDMA‐co‐MA‐POSS) nanocomposites with 15 and 30 wt % MA‐POSS were higher than those of the parent P(iBMA‐co‐3 wt % BDMA) resin. MA‐POSS raised the E′ values of all P(iBMA‐co‐ 5 wt % BDMA‐co‐MA‐POSS) nanocomposites in the rubbery region above those of P(iBMA‐co‐5 wt % BDMA), but MA‐POSS loadings < 15 wt % had little influence on glass‐transition temperatures (Tg's) and slightly reduced Tg values with 20 or 30 wt % POSS. Heating history had little influence on viscoelastic properties. No POSS aggregates were observed for the P(iBMA‐co‐1 wt % BDMA‐co‐MA‐POSS) nanocomposites by TEM. POSS‐rich particles with diameters of several micrometers were present in the nanocomposites with 3 or 5 wt % BDMA. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cyanate ester (PT‐15, Lonza Corp) composites containing the inorganic–organic hybrid polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) octaaminophenyl(T8)POSS [ 1 ; (C6H4NH2)8(SiO1.5)8] were synthesized. These PT‐15/POSS‐ 1 composites (99/1, 97/3, and 95/5 w/w) were characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), transmission election microscopy (TEM), dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, solvent extraction, and Fourier transform infrared. The glass‐transition temperatures (Tg's) of the composite with 1 wt % 1 increased sharply versus the neat PT‐15, but 3 and 5 wt % 1 in these cyanate ester composites depressed Tg. All the PT‐15/POSS composites exhibited higher storage modulus (E′) values (temperature > Tg) than the parent resin, but these values decreased from 1 to 5 wt % POSS. The loss factor peak intensities decreased and their widths broadened upon the incorporation of POSS. XRD, TEM, and IR data were all consistent with the molecular dispersion of 1 due to the chemical bonding of the octaamino POSS‐ 1 macromer into the continuous cyanate ester network phase. The amino groups of 1 reacted with cyanate ester functions at lower temperatures than those at which cyanate ester curing by cyclotrimerization occurred. In contrast to 1 , 3‐cyanopropylheptacyclopentyl(T8)POSS [ 2 ; (C5H9)7(SiO1.5)8CH2CH2CH2CN] had low solubility in PT‐15 and did not react with the resin below or at the cure temperature. Thus, phase‐separated aggregates of 2 were found in samples containing 1–10 wt % 2 . Nevertheless, the Tg and E′ values (temperature > 285 °C) of these composites increased regularly with an increase in 2 . © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Solvent‐free single crystals of 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15‐octaphenylpentacyclo[9.5.1.13,9.15,15.17,13]octasiloxane (abbreviated as octaphenyl‐POSS), C48H40O12Si8, were obtained by dehydration/condensation of the tetrol Si4O4(Ph)4(OH)4. The powder pattern generated from the single‐crystal data matches well with the experimentally measured powder pattern of commercial octaphenyl‐POSS. The geometry of the centrosymmetric molecule in the crystal was compared with that in the gas phase, and had shorter Si—O bond lengths and a broader range of Si—O—Si bond angles. The average Si—O bond length [1.621 (3) Å], and Si—O—Si and O—Si—O bond angles [149 (5) and 109 (1)°, respectively] were within the same range measured previously for octaphenyl‐POSS solvates.  相似文献

Hybrid composites consisting of isotactic poly(propylene) (PP), sisal fiber (SF), and maleic anhydride grafted styrene‐(ethylene‐co‐butylene)‐styrene copolymer (MA‐SEBS) were prepared by melt compounding, followed by injection molding. The melt‐compounding torque behavior, thermal properties, morphology, crystal structure, and mechanical behavior of the PP/MA‐SEBS/SF composites were systematically investigated. The torque test, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetric, and scanning electron microscopic results all indicated that MA‐SEBS was an effective compatibilizer for the PP/SF composites, and there was a synergism between MA‐SEBS and PP/SF in the thermal stability of the PP/MA‐SEBS/SF composites. Wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction analysis indicated that the α form and β form of the PP crystals coexisted in the PP/MA‐SEBS/SF composites. With the incorporation of MA‐SEBS, the relative amount of β‐form PP crystals decreased significantly. Mechanical tests showed that the tensile strength and impact toughness of the PP/SF composites were generally improved by the incorporation of MA‐SEBS. The instrumented drop‐weight dart‐impact test was also used to examine the impact‐fracture behavior of these composites. The results revealed that the maximum impact force (Fmax), impact‐fracture energy (ET), total impact duration (tr), crack‐initiation time (tinit), and crack‐propagation time (tprop) of the composites all tended to increase with an increasing MA‐SEBS content. From these results, the incorporation of MA‐SEBS into PP/SF composites can retard both the crack initiation and propagation phases of the impact‐fracture process. These prolonged the crack initiation and propagation time and increased the energy consumption during impact fracture, thereby leading to toughening of PP/MA‐SEBS/SF composites. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Organic–inorganic hybrid diblock copolymers composed of poly(ε‐caprolactone) and poly(MA POSS) [PCL‐b‐P(MA POSS)] were synthesized via reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer polymerization of 3‐methacryloxypropylheptaphenyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (MA POSS) with dithiobenzoate‐terminated poly(ε‐caprolactone) as the macromolecular chain transfer agent. The dithiobenzoate‐terminated poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL‐CTA) was synthesized via the atom transfer radical reaction of 2‐bromopropionyl‐terminated PCL with bis(thiobenzoyl)disulfide in the presence of the complex of copper (I) bromide with N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine. The results of molecular weights and polydispersity indicate that the polymerizations were in a controlled fashion. The organic–inorganic diblock copolymer was incorporated into epoxy to afford the organic–inorganic nanocomposites. The nanostructures of the organic–inorganic composites were investigated by means of transmission electron microscopy and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis. Thermogravimetric analysis shows that the organic–inorganic nanocomposites displayed the increased yields of degradation residues compared to the control epoxy. In the organic–inorganic nanocomposites, the inorganic block [viz., P(MA POSS)] had a tendency to enrich at the surface of the materials and the dewettability of surface for the organic–inorganic nanocomposites were improved in terms of the measurement of surface contact angles. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The curing reaction and kinetics of o‐cresol formaldehyde epoxy resin (o‐CFER) with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane of N‐aminoethyl‐γ‐amino propyl group (AEAP‐POSS) were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The thermal, mechanical, and dielectric properties of o‐CFER/AEAP‐POSS nanocomposites were investigated with thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), torsional braid analysis (TBA), tensile tester, impact tester, and electric analyzer, respectively. The results show that the activation energy (E) of curing reaction is 58.08 kJ/mol, and the curing reaction well followed the ?esták‐Berggren (S‐B) autocatalytic model. The glass transition temperature (Tg) increases with the increase in AEAP‐POSS content, and reaches the maximum, 107°C, when the molar ratio (Ns) of amino group to epoxy group is 0.5. The nanocomposites containing a higher percentage of AEAP‐POSS exhibited a higher thermostability. The AEAP‐POSS can effectively increase the mechanical properties of epoxy resin, and the tensile and impact strengths are 2.84 MPa and 143.25 kJ m?2, respectively, when Ns is 0.5. The dielectric constant (ε), dielectric loss factor (tan δ), volume resistivity (ρv), and surface resistivity (ρs) are 4.98, 3.11 × 10?4, 3.17 × 1012 Ω cm3, and 1.41 × 1012 Ω cm2, respectively, similarly at Ns 0.5. alt‐Copoly[1,9‐decaphenylpentasiloxanylene/1,3‐bis(ethylene)tetramethyldisiloxanylene], alt‐copoly[1,9‐decaphenylpentasiloxanylene/1,5‐bis(ethylene)hexamethyltrisiloxanylene], alt‐copoly[1,9‐decaphenylpentasiloxanylene/1,7‐bis(ethylene)octamethyltetrasiloxanylene], and alt‐copoly[1,9‐decaphenylpentasiloxanylene/1,9‐bis(ethylene)decamethylpentasiloxanylene] were synthesized by Pt‐catalyzed hydrosilylation reactions of 1,9 divinyldecaphenylpentasiloxanes with a series of oligodimethylsiloxanes. The molecular weights of these copolymers were determined by gel permeation chromatography. Their glass‐transition temperatures (Tg's) were obtained by differential scanning calorimetry. The thermal stabilities of the copolymers were measured by thermogravimetric analysis. The structures of the copolymers were verified by 1H, 13C, and 29Si NMR as well as IR and UV spectroscopy. The copolymers displayed high thermal stabilities and a single Tg, indicating that phase separation between the two short blocks did not occur. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The mechanisms of the thermal degradation of polyhedral oligomeric octaphenylsilsesquioxane (OPS), octa(nitrophenyl)silsesquioxane (ONPS), and octa(aminophenyl)silsesquioxane (OAPS) were investigated. The –NO2 or –NH2 substituents on the phenyl group affected the mechanism of the POSS thermal degradation. The thermal stabilities of OPS, ONPS, and OAPS were characterized by TG and FTIR. Thermal degradation of OPS included mainly the degradation of caged polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane structures and phenyl groups. Nitro or amino substituents decreased its thermal stability. The thermal degradation processes of OPS, ONPS, and OAPS differed. Phenyl groups and cyclobutadiene were observed in the OPS degradation products. Oxygen radicals that caused intensive CO2 release between 350 and 450 °C were generated by the degradation of ONPS –NO2. OAPS released mainly aminophenyl groups at 370 °C, whereas a small number of phenyl groups decomposed at 500 °C. The OAPS reactivity could enhance the thermal stability of POSS structure in the polyimide OAPS composites.  相似文献

The flame retardancy mechanisms of a novel polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane containing 9,10‐dihydro‐9‐oxa‐10‐phosphaphenanthrene‐10‐oxide (DOPO‐POSS) in polycarbonate/acrylonitrile‐butadiene‐styrene (PC/ABS) blends are discussed. The thermal stability of PC/ABS composites with different DOPO‐POSS loadings are investigated by TGA and the enhancement of the thermal stability could be found at high temperature range. Their fire behavior is tested by the LOI, UL‐94, and cone calorimeter. Excellent flame retardancy of PC/ABS composites have been discovered with 10 wt% DOPO‐POSS loading. TGA‐FTIR, FTIR, XPS, and SEM, respectively, are used to characterize the gaseous products and the condensed residue in thermal decomposition, and the micro‐structure of the chars from cone calorimeter tests. The decomposition of PC/ABS with 10 wt% DOPO‐POSS shows significant changes compared with PC/ABS by TGA, FTIR, TGA‐FTIR, and XPS analysis. The enhancement of the thermal‐oxidative stability of PC/ABS with DOPO‐POSS is attributed to the interaction between DOPO‐POSS and PC/ABS at high temperature, which might be the key for improvement of the flame retardancy. The mechanical properties and fire resistance of vinyl ester resin (VER) composites containing cage‐shaped octaphenyl silsesquioxane (OPS), incompletely cage‐shaped phenyl silsesquioxane (PhT7POSS), and ladder‐shaped phenyl silsesquioxane (PPSQ) were investigated. The POSS structure and dispersion have a great influence on the mechanical properties, thermal stability, and decomposition process of VER composites. The bending strength at break and modulus of the VER‐POSS composites were enhanced obviously, especially for VER‐PPSQ composite and VER‐OPS composite, respectively. In addition, PhT7POSS‐based VER composites revealed the lower values of the peak heat release rate, total heat release, and total smoke release in cone calorimetry tests due to the formation of dense carbon/silica protective layers that acted as a barrier to heat and mass transfer. Moreover, the flame‐retardant mechanisms of condensed phase and gas phase were also investigated in detail. These results illustrate VERs modified by OPS, PhT7POSS, and PPSQ are providing an applicable method to fabricate the composites with excellent flame‐retardant and mechanical properties.  相似文献

3‐Acryloxypropylhepta(3,3,3‐trifluoropropyl) polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) was synthesized and used as a modifier to improve the thermal response rates of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) hydrogel. The radical copolymerization among N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM), the POSS macromer and N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide was performed to prepare the POSS‐containing PNIPAM cross‐linked networks. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) showed that the POSS‐containing PNIPAM networks displayed the enhanced glass transition temperatures (Tg's) and improved thermal stability when compared with plain PNIPAM network. The POSS‐containing PNIPAM hydrogels exhibited temperature‐responsive behavior as the plain PNIPAM hydrogels. It is noted that with the moderate contents of POSS, the POSS‐containing PNIPAM hydrogels displayed much faster response rates in terms of swelling, deswelling, and re‐swelling experiments than plain PNIPAM hydrogel. The improved thermoresponsive properties of hydrogels have been interpreted on the basis of the formation of the specific microphase‐separated morphology in the hydrogels, that is, the POSS structural units in the hybrid hydrogels were self‐assembled into the highly hydrophobic nanodomains, which behave as the microporogens and promote the contact of PNIPAM chains and water. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, two silicon‐containing cycloaliphatic olefins were synthesized through the nucleophilic substitution reactions of cyclohex‐3‐enyl‐1‐methanol with di‐ or tri‐chlorosilane compounds. Then, after epoxidation, two new cycloaliphatic epoxy resins with different epoxy groups were successfully prepared. Their chemical structures were confirmed by 29Si NMR, 1H NMR, and Fourier‐transform infrared spectra (FTIR). The properties of cured products, including viscoelasticity, glass transition temperature (Tg), coefficient of thermal expansion, thermal stability and water absorption, were investigated. Compared to the difunctional epoxy resin, the trifunctional one exhibited a remarkably increased cross‐linking density from 0.82 to 4.08 × 10?3 mol/cm3 and Tg from 157 to 228°C. More importantly, prior to curing, they had viscosities of only 240–290 mPa sec at 25°C, which were much lower than that of ERL‐4221 (409 mPa sec), providing the possibility of easy processing. The high glass transition temperatures, good thermal stabilities, and mechanical properties as well as excellent flowability endow the silicon‐containing epoxy resins with promising potential in microelectronic packaging application. Through addition reaction of Schiff‐base terephthalylidene‐bis‐(p‐aminophenol) ( DP‐1 ) and diethyl phosphite (DEP), a novel phosphorus‐modified epoxy, 4,4'‐diglycidyl‐(terephthalylidene‐bis‐(p‐aminophenol))diphosphonate ether ( EP‐2 ), was obtained. An modification reaction between EP‐2 and DP‐1 resulted in an epoxy compound, EP‐3 , possessing both phosphonate groups and C?N imine groups. The structure of EP‐2 was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), elemental analysis (EA), 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR analyses. The thermal properties of phosphorus‐modified epoxies cured with 4,4'‐diaminodiphenylmethane (MDA) and 4,4'‐diaminodiphenyl ether (DDE) were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The activation energies of dynamic thermal degradation (Ed) were calculated using Kissinger and Ozawa's methods. The thermal degradation mechanism was characterized using thermogravimetric analysis/infrared spectrometry (TG‐IR). In addition, the flame retardancy of phosphorus‐modified epoxy thermosets was evaluated using limiting oxygen index (LOI) and UL‐94 vertical test methods. Via an ingenious design, phosphonate groups were successfully introduced into the backbone of the epoxies; the flame retardancy of phosphorus‐modified epoxy thermosets was distinctly improved. Due to incorporation of C?N imine group, the phosphorus‐modified epoxy thermosets exhibited high thermal stabilities; the values of glass‐transition temperatures (Tgs) were about 201–210°C, the values of Ed were about 220–490 kJ/mol and char yields at 700°C were 49–53% in nitrogen and 45–50% in air. These results showed an improvement in the thermal properties of phosphorus‐modified epoxy by the incorporation of C?N imine groups. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Dumbbell‐shaped isobutyl‐substituted 1,2‐bis(4‐vinylphenyl)acetylene‐linked POSS (DA1), 9,10‐bis(4‐vinylphenyl)ethynyl)anthracene‐linked POSS (DA2), and 5,5″‐bis((4‐vinyl)phenyl)ethynyl)‐2,2′:5′2″‐terthiophene‐linked POSS (DA3), and corresponding model compounds were synthesized by cross metathesis and Sonogashira reaction, and their film formability, and thermal and optical properties were examined. The dumbbell structures of the obtained compounds were confirmed by 1H‐, 13C‐, and 29Si‐NMR and MALDI‐TOF‐MS analysis. The dumbbell‐shaped POSS compounds gave optically transparent films. All the model compounds, however, formed opaque films. All the films were emissive under UV irradiation. The dumbbell structures minimize longer wavelength shifts and improve emission efficiency of the luminescent π‐conjugated linker units in their solid states compared with the model compounds. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel hybrid‐type chiral binaphthyl‐based polyarylene derivative with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) units 2a was prepared by Suzuki–Miyaura coupling polymerization from a chiral (R)‐6,6′‐dibromo‐2,2′‐diPOSS‐substituted 1,1′‐binaphthyl derivative 1a and p‐biphenylene diboronic acid. As a reference, a binaphthyl‐based polyarylene derivative without POSS unit 2b was also prepared. The obtained polymers were studied with thermogravimetric analysis, optical rotations, circular dichroism (CD), ultraviolet‐visible, and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. Gel permeation chromatography measurements of 2a and 2b showed that their number‐average molecular weights were 13,300 and 16,500, respectively. The thermal stability of POSS‐modified polymer 2a (temperature of 10% weight loss; T10 = 380 °C) was extremely high compared with that of polymer without POSS unit 2b (T10 = 335 °C) due to the siliceous bulky POSS segments on the side chains. The specific optical rotation [α]D was ?66.7° (c 0.06, CHCl3) for 2a and ?62.3° (c 0.06, CHCl3) for 2b . The CD spectra showed that these two polymers had very similar and strong Cotton effects. Film polymer 2a showed almost the same PL spectrum as that in dilute CHCl3 solution, indicating that bulky POSS units strongly suppressed intermolecular aggregation of the π‐conjugated polymer backbone. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Thermotropic POSS‐containing poly(methacrylate) with long alkyl chain tethered polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) in the side chain and the block copolymers (PMMA‐b‐PMAC11POSS) were developed by through living anionic polymerization. The resulting polymers indicated a phase transition temperature at 112 °C from spherocrystal to isotropic phase. The POSS‐containing polymer segments tended to form matrix of microphase‐separated nanostructures in the bulk even in the very low volume fraction, for instance, PMMA cylindrical nanostructure was obtained by PMMA175b‐PMAC11POSS11 (?PMAC11POSS = 0.44). The control of thin film morphology was carried out by not only solvent annealing, but also thermal annealing, resulting in the formation of well‐ordered dot‐ and fingerprint‐type nanostructures. This is the first report in a series of POSS‐containing block polymers that are capable for thermal annealing to generate well‐ordered microphase‐separated nanostructures in thin films. The novel thermotropic POSS‐containing block copolymer offers a promising material for block copolymer lithography. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

Polyhedral oligomeric silsequioxane (POSS), having eight hydroxyl groups for the preparation of nanocomposites with polyimide (PI) was synthesized by the direct hydrosilylation of allyl alcohol with octasilsesquioxane (Q8M8H) with platinum divinyltetramethyl disiloxane Pt(dvs) as a catalyst. The structure of allyl alcohol terminated‐POSS (POSS‐OH) was confirmed by FTIR, NMR, and XRD. A high performance, low‐k PI nanocomposite from pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA)‐4,4'‐oxydianiline (ODA) polyamic acid cured with POSS‐OH was also successfully synthesized. The incorporation of POSS‐OH into PI matrix reduced dielectric constant of PI without loosing mechanical properties. Furthermore, the effects of POSS‐OH on the morphology and properties of the PI/POSS‐OH nanocomposites were investigated using UV–vis, FTIR, XRD, SEM, AFM, transmission electron microscope (TEM), TGA, and contact angle. The homogeneous dispersion of POSS particles was confirmed by SEM, AFM, and TEM. The nanoindentation showed that the modulus increased upon increasing the concentration of POSS‐OH in PI, whereas the hardness did not increase very much with respect to loading of POSS, due to soft‐interphase around POSS molecules in the resulting nanocomposites. Overall results demonstrated the nanometer‐level integration of the polymer and POSS‐OH. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 46: 5887–5896, 2008  相似文献

A series of regioisomeric Janus‐type polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) with multiple, mixed surface functional groups has been successfully synthesized based on the cubic T8‐POSS framework in two consecutive thiol–ene reactions. The first thiol–ene addition of β‐mercaptoethanol leads to a statistical mixture of multi‐adducts where the regioisomers of bis‐adducts (ortho, meta, and para isomers) can be isolated at synthetically useful quantities by flash column chromatography. Then, the second thiol–ene reaction readily installs a variety of functional groups onto the remaining vinyl groups of each regioisomer, providing an easy access to precisely defined, hetero‐bifunctional Janus POSS nano‐building blocks. The configurations and structures of the products have been unambiguously proven by using 1H, 13C, and 29Si NMR spectroscopy as well as MALDI‐TOF mass spectrometry.  相似文献
