The present paper establishes a duality relation for the spectra of self‐affine measures. This is done under the condition of compatible pair and is motivated by a duality conjecture of Dutkay and Jorgensen on the spectrality of self‐affine measures. For the spectral self‐affine measure, we first obtain a structural property of spectra which indicates that one can get new spectra from old ones. We then establish a duality property for the spectra which confirms the conjecture in a certain case.  相似文献

The concept of quasi‐affine frame in Euclidean spaces was introduced to obtain translation invariance of the discrete wavelet transform. We extend this concept to a local field K of positive characteristic. We show that the affine system generated by a finite number of functions is an affine frame if and only if the corresponding quasi‐affine system is a quasi‐affine frame. In such a case the exact frame bounds are equal. This result is obtained by using the properties of an operator associated with two such affine systems. We characterize the translation invariance of such an operator. A related concept is that of co‐affine system. We show that there do not exist any co‐affine frame in .  相似文献

We prove rigidity type results on the vanishing of stable Ext and Tor for modules of finite complete intersection dimension, results which generalize and improve upon known results. We also introduce a notion of pre-rigidity, which generalizes phenomena for modules of finite complete intersection dimension and complexity one. Using this concept, we prove results on length and vanishing of homology modules.  相似文献

We define and study algebraically flat algebras in order to have a better understanding of algebraically projective algebras of finite type (the projective algebras of literature). A close examination of the differential properties of these algebras leads to our main structure theorem. As a corollary, we get that an algebraically projective algebra of finite type over a field is either a polynomial ring or the affine algebra of a complete intersection.  相似文献

Among the several types of closures of an ideal I that have been defined and studied in the past decades, the integral closure has a central place being one of the earliest and most relevant. Despite this role, it is often a difficult challenge to describe it concretely once the generators of I are known. Our aim in this note is to show that in a broad class of ideals their radicals play a fundamental role in testing for integral closedness, and in case , is still helpful in finding some fresh new elements in . Among the classes of ideals under consideration are: complete intersection ideals of codimension two, generic complete intersection ideals, and generically Gorenstein ideals. In this paper, we study locally strongly convex affine hypersurfaces of Rn+1 that have parallel cubic form with respect to the Levi-Civita connection of the affine Berwald-Blaschke metric; it is known that they are affine spheres. In dimension n?7 we give a complete classification of such hypersurfaces; in particular, we present new examples of affine spheres.  相似文献

In previous papers, a fundamental affine method for studying homogeneous geodesics was developed. Using this method and elementary differential topology it was proved that any homogeneous affine manifold and in particular any homogeneous pseudo‐Riemannian manifold admits a homogeneous geodesic through arbitrary point. In the present paper this affine method is refined and adapted to the pseudo‐Riemannian case. Using this method and elementary topology it is proved that any homogeneous Lorentzian manifold of even dimension admits a light‐like homogeneous geodesic. The method is illustrated in detail with an example of the Lie group of dimension 3 with an invariant metric, which does not admit any light‐like homogeneous geodesic.  相似文献

The paper considers two cases of variational inequality problems. The first case involves an affine monotone operator over a convex set defined by a separation oracle. Aninterior-point algorithm that mixes an interior cutting plane method and a short-step path-following method will be presented. Its complexity will be established. The second case is an extension of the first and involves a nonlinear monotone operator defined over the same type of convex set. We study the degree of the inverse of an automorphism f of the affine n-space over a -algebra k, in terms of the degree d of f and of other data. For n = 1, we obtain a sharp upper bound for deg (f− 1) in terms of d and of the nilpotency index of the ideal generated by the coefficients of f′'. For n = 2 and arbitrary d≥ 3, we construct a (triangular) automorphism f of Jacobian one such that deg(f− 1) > d. This answers a question of A. van den Essen (see [3]) and enables us to deduce that some schemes introduced by authors to study the Jacobian conjecture are not reduced. Still for n = 2, we give an upper bound for deg (f− 1) when f is triangular. Finally, in the case d = 2 and any n, we complete a result of G. Meisters and C. Olech and use it to give the sharp bound for the degree of the inverse of a quadratic automorphism, with Jacobian one, of the affine 3-space.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of δ-invariant for curvature-like tensor fields and establish optimal general inequalities in case the curvature-like tensor field satisfies some algebraic Gauss equation. We then study the situation when the equality case of one of the inequalities is satisfied and prove a dimension and decomposition theorem. In the second part of the paper, we apply these results to definite centroaffine hypersurfaces in Rn+1. The inequality is specified into an inequality involving the affine δ-invariants and the Tchebychev vector field. We show that if a centroaffine hypersurface satisfies the equality case of one of the inequalities, then it is a proper affine hypersphere. Furthermore, we prove that if a positive definite centroaffine hypersurface in , satisfies the equality case of one of the inequalities, it is foliated by ellipsoids. And if a negative definite centroaffine hypersurface satisfies the equality case of one of the inequalities, then it is foliated by two-sheeted hyperboloids. Some further applications of the inequalities are also provided in this article.  相似文献

We study the average‐case complexity of shortest‐paths problems in the vertex‐potential model. The vertex‐potential model is a family of probability distributions on complete directed graphs with arbitrary real edge lengths, but without negative cycles. We show that on a graph with n vertices and with respect to this model, the single‐source shortest‐paths problem can be solved in O(n2) expected time, and the all‐pairs shortest‐paths problem can be solved in O(n2 log n) expected time. ©2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. We characterise the Priestley spaces corresponding to affine complete bounded distributive lattices. Moreover we prove that the class of affine complete bounded distributive lattices is closed under products and free products. Let R=⊕i≥0Ri be an Artinian standard graded K-algebra defined by quadrics. Assume that dimR2≤3 and that K is algebraically closed, of characteristic ≠2. We show that R is defined by a Gröbner basis of quadrics with, essentially, one exception. In this paper we investigate the problem of clique‐coloring, which consists in coloring the vertices of a graph in such a way that no monochromatic maximal clique appears, and we focus on odd‐hole‐free graphs. On the one hand we do not know any odd‐hole‐free graph that is not 3‐clique‐colorable, but on the other hand it is NP‐hard to decide if they are 2‐clique‐colorable, and we do not know if there exists any bound k0 such that they are all k0 ‐clique‐colorable. First we will prove that (odd hole, codiamond)‐free graphs are 2‐clique‐colorable. Then we will demonstrate that the complexity of 2‐clique‐coloring odd‐hole‐free graphs is actually Σ2 P‐complete. As a generalization of some aspects of the theories of algebraic groups and finite dimensional algebras one can study polynomially defined, associative operations on affine spaces. In this paper we study the quadratic case—i.e., the case when the polynomials are of degree at most two. We call the resulting semigroup a quadratic semigroup. We obtain the complete structure for one class of quadratic semigroups and a representation theorem for another class.  相似文献
