This article studies superconvergence phenomena of the split least‐squares mixed finite element method for second‐order hyperbolic equations. By selecting the least‐squares functional properly, the procedure can be split into two independent symmetric positive definite subprocedures, one of which is for the primitive unknown and the other is for the flux. Based on interpolation operators and an auxiliary projection, superconvergent H1 error estimates for the primary variable u and L2 error estimates for the introduced flux variable σ are obtained under the standard quasiuniform assumptions on finite element partition. This article addresses nonlinear wave equations with supercritical interior and boundary sources, and subject to interior and boundary damping. The presence of a nonlinear boundary source alone is known to pose a significant difficulty since the linear Neumann problem for the wave equation is not, in general, well‐posed in the finite‐energy space H1(Ω) × L2(?Ω) with boundary data in L2 due to the failure of the uniform Lopatinskii condition. Further challenges stem from the fact that both sources are non‐dissipative and are not locally Lipschitz operators from H1(Ω) into L2(Ω), or L2(?Ω). With some restrictions on the parameters in the model and with careful analysis involving the Nehari Manifold, we obtain global existence of a unique weak solution, and establish exponential and algebraic uniform decay rates of the finite energy (depending on the behavior of the dissipation terms). Moreover, we prove a blow up result for weak solutions with nonnegative initial energy.  相似文献

This paper deals with the Cauchy problem for a doubly degenerate parabolic equation with variable coefficient For the case λ + 1 ≥ N, one proves that depending on the behavior of the variable coefficient at infinity, the Cauchy problem either possesses the property of finite speed of propagation of perturbation or the support blows up in finite time. This completes a result by Tedeev (A.F.Tedeev, The interface blow‐up phenomenon and local estimates for doubly degenerate parabolic equations, Appl. We characterize the convergence of the series ∑ λ–1n, where λn are the non‐zero eigenvalues of some boundary value problems for degenerate second order ordinary differential operators and we prove a formula for the above sum when the coefficient of the zero‐order term vanishes. We study these operators both in weighted Hilbert spaces and in spaces of continuous functions. After investigating the boundary behaviour of the eigenfunctions, we give applications to the regularity of the generated semigroups.  相似文献

We consider Schrödinger flows which are given by a real symmetric non-degenerate matrix of variable coefficient second order differential operators. After establishing the local smoothing effect we treat non-linear perturbations for first and zero order terms. The main purpose of this paper is to show, in the two-dimensional torus, a necessary and sufficient condition in order to certain perturbations of zero order of a system of constant real vector fields to be globally s-solvable. We are also interested in studying its global s-hypoellipticity. We present connections between these global concepts and a priori estimates. We also present two applications of our results for systems of operators with variable coefficients.  相似文献

The conforming bilinear mixed finite element method is established for a fourth‐order wave equation. By applying the interpolation and projection simultaneously, the superclose and superconvergence results of order O (h 2) for the original variable u and intermediate variable p  =? a 1(X u in H1‐norm are achieved for the semi‐discrete and fully discrete schemes, respectively (where a 1(X ) is the coefficient appeared in the equation). The distinct advantage of this method is that it can reduce the smoothness of solutions u ,u t , and p compared with the existing literature for getting optimal estimates alone. Strong solvability in Sobolev spaces is proved for a unilateral boundary value problem for nonlinear parabolic operators. The operator is assumed to be of Carathéodory type and to satisfy a suitable ellipticity condition; only measurability with respect to the independent variable X is required. The main tools of the proof are an estimate for the second derivatives of functions which satisfy the unilateral boundary conditions and the monotonicity of the operator − u t with respect to Δu for the same functions.  相似文献

We consider the heat equation u t = Lu where L is a second-order difference operator in a discrete variable n. The fundamental solution has an expansion in terms of the Bessel functions of imaginary argument. The coefficients α k (n, m) in this expansion are analogs of Hadamard’s coefficients for the (continuous) Schr?dinger operator. We derive an explicit formula for α k in terms of the wave and the adjoint wave functions of the Toda lattice hierarchy. As a first application of this result, we prove that the values of these coefficients on the diagonals n = m and n = m + 1 define a hierarchy of differential-difference equations which is equivalent to the Toda lattice hierarchy. Using this fact and the correspondence between commutative rings of difference operators and algebraic curves we show that the fundamental solution can be summed up, giving a finite formula involving only two Bessel functions with polynomial coefficients in the time variable t, if and only if the operator L belongs to the family of bispectral operators constructed in [18].   相似文献

In this work we consider the η‐invariant for pseudodifferential operators of tensor product type, also called bisingular pseudodifferential operators. We study complex powers of classical bisingular operators. We prove the trace property for the Wodzicki residue of bisingular operators and show how the residues of the η‐function can be expressed in terms of the Wodzicki trace of a projection operator. Then we calculate the K‐theory of the algebra of 0‐order (global) bisingular operators. With these preparations we establish the regularity properties of the η‐function at the origin for global bisingular operators which are self‐adjoint, elliptic and of positive orders.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce some new sequences of positive linear operators, acting on a sufficiently large space of continuous functions on the real line, which generalize Gauss–Weierstrass operators.We study their approximation properties and prove an asymptotic formula that relates such operators to a second order elliptic differential operator of the form Lu?αu′′+βu+γu.Shape-preserving and regularity properties are also investigated.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study a class of semilinear elliptic boundary value problems with degenerate boundary conditions which include as particular cases the Dirichlet problem and the Robin problem. The approach here is based on the super‐sub‐solution method in the degenerate case, and is distinguished by the extensive use of an Lp Schauder theory elaborated for second‐order, elliptic differential operators with discontinuous zero‐th order term. By using Schauder's fixed point theorem, we prove that the existence of an ordered pair of sub‐ and supersolutions of our problem implies the existence of a solution of the problem. In this paper we give the estimates of the central moments for the limit q‐Bernstein operators. We introduce the higher order generalization of the limit q‐Bernstein operators and using the moment estimations study the approximation properties of these newly defined operators. We prove that a bounded operator S on L a p for p > 1 is compact if and only if the Berezin transform of S vanishes on the boundary of the unit disk if S satisfies some integrable conditions. Let X be a smooth manifold with boundary of dimension n > 1. The operators of order −n and type zero in Boutet de Monvel's calculus form a subset of Dixmier's trace ideal for the Hilbert space of L 2 sections in vector bundles E over X, F over ∂X. We show that, on these operators, Dixmier's trace can be computed in terms of the same expressions that determine the noncommutative residue. In particular it is independent of the averaging procedure. However, the noncommutative residue and Dixmier's trace are not multiples of each other unless the boundary is empty. As a corollary we show how to compute Dixmier's trace for parametrices or inverses of classical elliptic boundary value problems of the form Pu=f; Tu=0 with an elliptic differential operator P of order n in the interior and a trace operator T.  The purpose of this paper is to derive L p L q decay estimates for linear thermoelastic systems with time-dependent coefficient in one space variable. When all coefficients in the system have the same growth speed with small oscillations, we obtain a parabolic type decay estimate. For the system with time-dependent coefficients, we need to investigate the delicate asymptotic behaviour of characteristic roots and the remainder of diagonalization, which will be treated by dividing the phase space into three regions. Using a classical result of Marcinkiewicz and Lizorkin about the Lp-continuity for Fourier multipliers, the authors study the action of a class of pseudodifferential operators with weighted smooth symbol on a family of weighted Sobolev spaces.
