One‐pot synthesis of hexahydroquinolines Via a four‐component cyclocondensation under microwave irradiation in solvent free conditions: A green chemistry strategy

Four‐component cyclocondensation of aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile, dimedone and ammonium acetate proceeds under microwave irradiation in solvent free conditions to give highly functionalized hexahydroquinolines in excellent yields.     

Preparation of 6‐azaoxindole (6‐azaindol‐2(3H)‐one) and substituted derivatives

A general synthesis of 6‐azaoxindoles, substituted in the 3‐ and 5‐position, has been developed starting from 4‐methoxycarbomethyl‐3‐nitropyridine, via hydrogenation of the nitro group and cyclisation of the resulting 3‐amino‐4‐methoxycarbomethyl‐pyridine.     

Synthesis and characterization of 4‐aryl‐5‐(1‐aryl‐2‐methyl‐2‐nitropropyl)‐1,2,3‐selenadiazoles

The synthesis of a new set of selenadiazoles, 4‐aryl‐5‐(1‐aryl‐2‐methyl‐2‐nitropropyl)‐1,2,3‐selenadiazoles ( 4 ) derived from 2‐[4‐methyl‐4‐nitro‐1,3‐diarylpentylidene]‐1‐hydrazinecarboxamide ( 3 ) has been reported. THF has been found to be the solvent of choice for this reaction. Structural features of 3 and 4 have been analyzed by NMR and X‐ray techniques.     

Synthesis of 1‐(substituted phenylcarbonyl/sulfonylamino)‐1,2,3,6‐tetrahydropyridine‐5‐carboxylic acid diethylamides as potential anti‐inflammatory agents

Fifteen novel 1‐(substituted phenylcarbonyl/sulfonylamino)‐1,2,3,6‐tetrahydro‐ pyridine‐5‐carboxylic acid diethylamide ( 7, 15 ) were synthesized in fair to good yields via sodium borohydride reduction of the corresponding 1‐(substituted phenylcarbonyl/ sulfonylimino)‐3‐diethylcarbamoyl pyridinium ylides ( 6, 14 ) in absolute ethanol.     

A stereoselective three‐component reaction: One‐pot synthesis of cis‐isoquinolonic acids catalyzed by silica sulfuric acid under mild and heterogeneous conditions

A mild and stereoselective three‐component one‐step synthesis of cis‐isoquinolonic acid using silica sulfuric acid as a heterogeneous catalyst from an aldehyde, amine and homophthalic anhydride in acetonitrile is described. This new method produces pure products in high yields (81‐91%).     

Cyclocondensation reactions of heterocyclic carbonyl compounds XII. The double course of cyclization of 3‐(2‐aminobenzyl)‐1,2‐dihydro‐quinoxaline‐2‐one

The cyclocondensation reaction of compound 1 in boiling hydrochloric acid had an unexpected course. Instead of supposed 5,11‐dihydro‐quinoxalino[2,3‐b]quinoline 6a , 2‐(indol‐2‐yl)‐benzimidazole 4 was isolated as the major product.     

Convenient synthesis of some 2‐substituted 4(3H)‐quinazolinone derivatives

A series of 2‐substituted‐4(3H)‐quinazolinones 13‐20 has been synthesized in good yields using the reaction of double lithiated 2‐methylquinazolinone‐4 with a variety of aromatic aldehydes. They have been easily transformed in high yields into the corresponding 2‐substituted conjugated derivatives 21‐28 bearing terminal aryl groups by F₃CCOOH mediated dehydration.     

An efficient one‐pot synthesis of 6‐aryl‐5‐cyano‐2‐thiopyrimidinone derivatives and their piperidinium ionic forms,x‐ray crystal structures

Three‐component condensation of benzaldehyde derivatives, alkyl cyanoacetates and thiourea in the presence of piperidine in reflux condition provides a direct route to piperidinium 6‐aryl‐5‐cyano 2‐thiopyrimidonate salts in good yields. These reactions were also carried out under microwave irradiation. The yields of products under the microwave condition were better as compared to the reflux media. The acidification of these ionic forms resulted in the formation of 6‐aryl‐5‐cyano‐2‐thiopyrimidone derivatives. The X‐ray structures of the ionic forms ( 4, 5 , and 7 ) show that there are anionic thiopyrimidinone skeletons hydrogen bridged with piperidinium cations.     

Deformation of methylenecyclopropane in solution: NMR study in the nematic phase at 240 and 400 MHz

The NMR spectrum of methylenecyclopropane oriented in two nematic phases has been measured at 240 and 400 MHz. Ratios of the proton-proton distances have been obtained. These values are compared with those deduced from the structure of the molecule in the gaseous state; they suggest an increase of the ethylenic angle in the nematic phase.     

Aromatization of 1,4‐dihydropyridines in the presence of methanesulfonic acid/NaNO2/wet SiO2 under both heterogeneous and solvent free conditions

A combination of methanesulfonic acid and sodium nitrite in the presence of wet SiO₂ was used as an effective oxidizing agent for the oxidation of 1,4‐dihydropyridines to the corresponding pyridine derivatives under mild and heterogeneous conditions in excellent yields.     

New synthesis,x‐ray structural determination,conformational analysis and anomeric effect study of 3,7‐di (3‐nitrophenyl)‐1,5‐dioxa‐3,7‐diazacyclooctane

3,7‐Di(3‐nitrophenyl)‐1,5‐dioxa‐3,7‐diazacyclooctane was prepared from 3‐nitroaniline and formaldehyde in acetonitrile. Conformational behavior of ring inversion of the molecule was studied so it prefers a crown conformation. The evaluated ΔG^* was approximately 58.0 ± 1.0 kJ/mole. The X‐ray structure determination of the compound shows a crown conformation, in line with two‐anomeric effect in N‐C‐O moiety.     

Dodecyloxy‐substituted 2,4,6‐tris(styryl)pyridines

(E,E,E)‐2,4,6‐Tris(styryl)pyridines 2a‐c with 3, 6 or 9 dodecyloxy substituents were prepared by the highly stereoselective condensation reaction of collidine ( 8 ) and the corresponding phenyl‐(1‐phenyl‐methylidene)amines 7a‐c (Siegrist reaction). In contrast to the corresponding compounds with a benzene or a 1,3,5‐triazine core, 2a‐c do not show any hints for the formation of thermotropic liquid crystals. The major application of such star‐shaped systems is in the field of nonlinear optics.     

1,8‐Diazafloren‐9‐one with alkyl and aryl isocyanides in the presence of acetylenic esters: A facile synthesis of γ‐spiroiminolactones

The 1:1 intermediate generated by the addition of alkyl and aryl isocyanides to dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate is trapped by 1,8‐diazafloren‐9‐one to yield iminolactones in good yields.     

A facile three‐components,one‐pot synthesis of pyrimido[4,5‐d]pyrimidine‐2,5‐dione derivatives under microwave‐assisted conditions

Pyrimido[4,5‐d]pyrimidine‐2,5‐dione derivatives have been synthesized in high yields in a novel, onepot, and efficient process by condensation of 6‐amino‐3‐methyl‐2‐(methylthio)pyrimidin‐4(3H)‐one, aldehydes and urea under microwave‐assisted conditions.     

Studies with enamines and azaenamines: A novel efficient route to 6‐amino‐1,4‐dihydropyridazines and their condensed derivatives

1‐Arylhydrazonopyruvaldehydes 1 react with α,β‐unsaturated nitriles 2 to yield 6‐amino‐1,4‐dihydropyridazines 4 that are converted into pyridazinones 5 via refluxing in an acetic acid/hydrochloric acid mixture and into the ethylidenemalononitrile derivatives 6 on reflux with malononitrile in ethanolic/piperidine solution.     

Convenient synthesis of N‐substituted 1‐alkyl and 1‐aryl‐3‐aminoisoquinolines

Cyclocondensation of 2‐acylphenylacetonitriles 1 with amines affords 1‐substituted 3‐aminoisoquinolines 2 in good yields.     

The dipolar route to naphtho[2,1‐c]isoxazoles from the baylis‐hillman adducts of 2‐alkynylbenzaldehydes

A new synthesis of 4‐carbomethoxynaphtho[2,1‐c]isoxazoles 4a‐d from methyl 3‐(alkynylphenyl)‐2‐nitromethyl‐2‐propenoates 2a‐d by the intramolecular nitrile oxide cycloaddition is described. The latter are readily obtained from 2‐alkynylbenzaldehydes through the Baylis‐Hillman adduct acetates 1a‐d followed by nucleophilic substitution of nitrite anion.     

Dichloromaleimide chemistry. IV. Preparation of poly(maleimide–ethers) from the reaction of bisdichloromaleimides with bisphenols

A newly discovered reaction between phenols and dichloromaleimides has led to the synthesis of a new class of polymers of high molecular weight. These materials, represented by the general formula may be called poly(maleimide–ethers). Unlike polyimides, these materials are soluble in appropriate solvents and may be cast or compressionmolded into tough, flexible films.
